Jania was glad to have some measure of control back over Raidek. It was small but it was a start. If she could make him believe he needed to depend on her then she would be set. Deciding she didn't want to walk to the next village, Jania took her necklace and let Rayneer burst forth from a portal that opened in the in the small stone. Rayneer looked around quickly then settled down to let Jania climb atop him. "Videor Iunior," she muttered and took the form of an eleven year old child sitting atop her huge spider.
"I'll follow you to the next village at least, Raidek." she said.

Vilya listened to Damiano and was about to agree before Sai vanished before them. "Sai!? Jeez..." She made a face. she said semi-seriously to the gryphon, who snorted.
"Look! Some of the combatants are leaving the ship." It was true, while most men remained on the ship fending off Kin and now Sai, the winged creatures leapt for the sky. "Damiano, looks like we'll have to stop them from reaching the ship, I think those two might be on thier own." Vilya hoped that all the enemy had were enhanced arrows...but she doubted it. "Let's go Tura." The gryphon crouched and lashed her tail before leaping over the rails and spreading her wings in one fluid motion. Vilya drew her blades as Tura prepared a shield to ward off magical attacks. The gryphon reported. In comparison to the other creatures the wyvern were massive.
Tura gave a mental nod as they swooped down to meet thier opponents.

"I'll remain here on this ship Vilya. If any of them pass you I'll be ready. Best of luck to you and watch out for those Wyvern tails! Their poison is much worse than any other weapon they have," Damiano said shouting after Vilya as she took off. With Arkanathalasana in his mask Damiano was unable to leave the deck and he found it better in this case. His magic needed some distance or else it would be less effective. Right now, he had the perfect spell in mind for this situation. With the enemies flying within range, he would send a bolt of lightning to one of the Wyverns. Hopefully this would knock it from the sky, as well as give the enemy combatant something to think about as hundreds of thousands of volts of electricity surge through it. Damiano couldn't help but grin as he aimed a trained eye at the larger winged beasts.
"Ast kiranann kair gadunrm soth-arn suh kali jalaran!" shouted the young magus as he whirled his arms about deliberately before finally ending on an forward thrusting of his hands. Held in one hand was a rod of amber and in the other a cloth of orange fur. He focussed his eyes on one of the Wyverns, hoping his spell didn't fail, and if it succeeded, didn't miss the mark. Without warning he felt a surge of energy rush from his entire body into his arms and finally through his hands. The fur and the amber rod were thoroughly consumed in the blast of energy as lightning streaked from Damiano's hands toward the Wyvern he had aimed at. He heard a loud clap of thunder as the energy finished leaving him, all in one moment, and he felt dazed, completely drained. If it weren't for his staff, he might have well fallen over.
inquired his worried companion. the young mage replied in elated tones. Ark stated mentally, though he already knew why. he thought happily. As Damiano raised he head, he wondered if he had hit or if it was all a waste?
((I hope that isn't too much for my character? I mean, I'm hoping I made it evident enough that he really can't do that again for a good while sweatdrop Also, I would make a note that the incantation words I used came from a book series I read. I'm hoping this isn't a problem? I thought it would be fun seeing as the character in the book is also my gaia name's namesake razz ))

((Ah, a spell of the famed Raistlin? No no, not too much. And I liked the use of item focuses. Well done, Raistlin.))
As Sai dodged, weaved about, and parried his opponents weapons he noted several flashes of light along his peripheral vision. As he completed a parrying spin he came about to see that several of the crew of the enemy vessel had unsealed their bonded creatures. There were two large felines, one maned in flames the other with black fur and glowing yellow stripes. There was a large bipedal lizard with a crest across the top of its head and large, wickedly hooked, claws held up from its feet. Lastly there was a six legged bear with short horns protruding above its brows.
Crap...
Stratus asked.
Stratus sent back a sense of grudging acceptance.
Sai frantically began to parry the moves of two of the sword wielding pirates while trying to keep them between him and their partners, the flame cat and the bear. He deftly parried their surprisingly synchronous attacks and went into a set of rapid counterattacks, which were all deflected. He fell back several feet and motioned as if to strike one on the weapon arm, though he was several feet out of range. He muttered "Aer vesica." As he did so. Air focused together and formed from his sword, extending the cutting edge through concentrated air for many feet. The mans shoulder suddenly burst open in a gush of crimson blood. Satisfied that the man would no longer be a threat Sai quickly repeated the process on the other man. The second attack was, also, a success and Sai again retreated as the two bonded creatures quickly advanced on him. He dared a moment to glance at Kin, whom the second cat and the lizard thing were advancing upon with their human partners, then he was back on the defensive heading for the rigging to use his natural agility to his advantage against his larger adversaries.

Vilya caught Damiano's words on the wind, thankful for them. "I didn't know about the tail thing," she admitted to Tura.
They didn't have much time for more conversation as the panther broke away from the others. Just then a bolt of lightning surged past them. Tura felt her feathers tingle as the massive charge passed under her. It was a direct hit and both of them had to cover their eyes. When they looked again they saw the one who had been hit, and he wasn't a black crisp as they had expected. Tura followed her companion's thoughts.
The wyvern hesitated, looking lost without the guidance of his human partner. The panther however continued without the slightest concern. Tura banked to meet it. "We're going to have to assume they all have shields like that." Vilya said gravely. Tura sent threads of the spell forward, they brushed her opponents gently sending back what they found. Tura concluded.
"Damn, meaning any element we can summon from thin air, fire, lightning or air itself is useless, it would take a spell like Damiano's to put one out of casting commission but not necessarily remove them from combat." Tura admitted. "Well damn...that means we can't attack with ma--." She cut herself off as the panther advanced. She could see the human how, raising his cutlass against the clouds and readying for a strike. "The clouds! Tura! Water!" Vilya felt the gryphon's excitement stream through their connection. Just when their enemy was upon them Tura snapped her wings shut, diving beneath them and straight for the bank of cloud. The panther pivoted and dove as well, following them as they disappeared into the white fog.
Water began to collect just above the leading edges of the gryphon's wings and on Vilya's blades. If one had been watching the cloud one would have seen a sodden panther being tossed like an oil-black rag from the pristine side of the cloud, engulfed in a horizontal waterfall which gravity soon claimed for itself. The panther and human plummeted from the sky as Tura shot out from the misty depths, the water they had gathered to them hardening into ice as they banked to face the other two creatures.

With Kin's speed still increased from his previous spell, Kin met face to face with the two bound creatures who appeared to be caught off guard by Kin's speed. Kin's leg swooped upwards quickly to the side and kicked the large cat that wished to attack him, directly at the side of it's head. Kin's body was already half twisted in order to spin around and block the attack from the lizard bound creature as soon as possible.
Vix thought to Kin while he was in mid attack with the cat still.

Raidek sighed, looking at the large creature the she used as a mount.
His thumb unconsciously rubbed against his palm where the stone lay burned into his flesh.
Raidek could feel a sort of sigh come from his companion. He turned and continued down the path north bound for the next city.
Raidek mumbled under his breath, "I wonder how long it'll take us to get there."

Sai ducked, dodged, and rolled constantly. He was being rapidly pinned down by the six legged bear and the flame maned cat of the two pirates that he had downed only moments before. He doubted his sword would do much damage to either of the thickly muscled beasts and they were not leaving him much time for casting. All he could really do was continue dodging and hope for an opening. He quickly sheathed his sword while he rolled, no easy feat, and came up in a defensive crouch with just his staff in hand. He knew that the sturdy length of dark wood was a much better defensive weapon than his blade was, and he quickly proved that fact by rapidly spinning the weapon one way and then another deftly deflecting several near hits from his enemies sharp clawed paws. Sai was patient with his foes, especially since he knew he was over matched and any rash actions on his part would more than likely end in his all too early demise. After a few full minutes of dodging, and weaving, and parrying he finally saw his opportunity. He waited for the cat to swipe at him, as he knew it would, and used the force of the blow combined his his own jump and a muttered "Ventas." to hurl himself right between the legs of the bear as it reared up to bring all four fore legs to the fray. Sai flew behind it and skidded across the deck. He rolled to his feet and directly into a sprint towards the masts and rigging, where he suspected the archers to be. Sure enough, they were up there and beginning to line him up in their sights now that he was a distinct target, separate from their allies. Sai said to his sealed partner.
Stratus responded.
Sai thought, and as he did the archers began to open fire upon him.

Tura cautioned. "Wait. What's going on on that ship?> They were a ways closer but it was still difficult to make out thier allies. Tura saw Kin fighting alongside his companion, none of the pirates seemed capable of touching him. Then she caught sight of Sai. She said quickly. Together they dove and dodged the talons of their on-coming foe, rolling clear and coming up closer to the ship. "Let's give those archers a little greeting present." Vilya laughed, sending a mental picutre of her plan. Tura countered, rearing up and back-winging and as she did so focusing the cie on her wings to send a shower of daggers straight toward the group of archers who had opened fire on Sai. Tura growled, watching as the wyvern doubled back but the bat kept on towards the 'Destiny'. "I hope Damiano sees it coming, this wyvern doesn't look like he'll let me get back without a fight.

Kin's kick made impact with the cat creature's head and shot it across the deck hard with an unexpected amount of force causing it to slam against the guardrail of the ship, denting it in and almost off the ship. Still in mid air from his enormous kick, Kin twisted his body like a tornado just as he planned and blocked the giant lizard's attack with his same foot. Apparent pain was caused from the block to the lizard since Kin did have a metal plate across his shoes to do just that.
While things appeared to be frozen in time from Kin blocking the lizard's attack, Vix struck at lightning speed at the lizard's right arm. His two sharp fangs piercing the skin and he injected as much venom as he could before the lizard retreated, causing Vix to loose his bite's grip.
The combatant who appeared to be the owner of the cat creature swiftly charged at Kin who met his blade with his claws.

The archers let loose their arrows. Sai leaped backwards and twirled his staff before him as he twisted and spun, attempting to deflect and avoid the arrows that were now flying towards him. The arrows came at him all at once. In the span of an instant Sai heard several thuds and clatters and then he was back on his feet with his staff held before him, the momentum of its spin played out. Several arrows were embedded in his staff and others were stuck into, or laying on, the deck of the ship. Miraculously none of them had hit Sai, though he had a few tears and holes in his clothing from near misses.
Sai exclaimed in shock.
Stratus responded, worry in his thoughts.
Elation and a surge of adrenaline fueling him, Sai directed his full attention back to the archers. Several of them were down, bleeding with daggers sticking out of their bodies, several more had fallen from the masts and rigging and had impacted heavily with the deck far below. Sai threw himself into a pattern of fluid movements, spinning and twirling his staff about his body. He repeatedly said the word "Ventas." as he spun himself and his weapon sending burst after burst of concentrated air at the remaining archers trying his best to knock them loose from their perches, and succeeding for the most part.

Tura said as she watched Sai get up and press on in combat. Vilya saluted to him before ducking closer to the gryphon's back as she rolled clear of the Wyvern's dive.
The wyvern roared as they shot past, bringing his tail around and lashing out at them. Vilya twisted and blocked the poisoned barb with her sword. The venom however poured out onto it, filling the air with a putrid smell. When they were clear Vilya examined her blade to find the poison had eaten away most of the live edge.
"Aww Man! My scimitar!" She watched as the beautifully etched patterns were burned slowly away. Tura snorted, spinning about to face another attack. She sent more ice shards, aimed directly at the wyvern's mount. He knocked them away with his thick cutlass and laughed at them. "That does it." Vilya was angry now. "Tura, take me in."
The gryphon dove, making to attack directly as she had done when they were sparring with Sai. At the last moment she rolled, letting Vilya drop from the saddle and onto the back of the other combatant's mount. This time she had practice and grabbed the pommel as she landed, bringing her sword up and parrying a blow from the pirate, who cried out in alarm. He slid back, nearly falling off as Vilya found her footing. Suddenly the wyvern twisted, throwing his own companion off his back and jarring Vilya so that she had to grab the pommel again.
The wyvern caught the terrified man again in one of his taloned feet and only then did Vilya realize what he was doing. She couldn't avoid the tail now, which rose above her like the head of a snake, its barbed tip poised to strike. A flash of black crossed Vilya's vision and the wyvern screamed as Tura dug her talons deeply into the base of its tail. The man was still trying desperately to scramble back into the saddle and avoid Tura's deadly claws.
Beak and fang flashed as Tura and the wyvern locked themselves in physical combat. Vilya cursed as she knew that instinct had taken the gryphon over and magic was now out of the question. They plummeted out of the sky, both creatures using every limb to fight the other. While both humans clung to the wyvern's back to keep from being blown off. The pirate aimed a kick at Vilya's side which she dodged easily enough. "Tura!" She cried but at that moment the wyvern had managed to land a blow, slashing the inside of Tura's hind leg with its claws. She winced and lost her grip. The pirate drew a dagger as he had lost his sword when he first fell, aiming at Vilya's shoulder. Vilya watched in horror as the wyvern's tail drew back for another strike and Tura did not see it. Her mind raced, she gripped the hilt of her good sword tightly and with a desperate cry, drove it straight into the pirate's chest. There was a choked cry from the man and a violent howl from the wyvern as both died together. The moment the wyvern's grip released Tura, she came back to herself, grabbing her companion free of the falling bodies.
"I-I...I'm okay." Vilya said, beginning to shake badly. Blood was soaking into her white linen shirt and glistened in her hands and on her blade. She had never taken a human life before. She tried to clear her mind, and focus. The battle wasn't over yet.
Slowly she reached round to climb onto Tura's back. Once she had a firm grip on the harness they banked and headed back for the enemy ship. "Sai and Kin might need our help." She said, swallowing and holding her scimitar more tightly. The ruined blade she tied into its sheath on her back. Just then a brilliant red light filled the sky. It was a magic flare from the Destiny. Carryway's ship had manoeuvred into perfect firing position while Sai and Kin had distracted the enemy crew.
"We've got to get them both off that ship."

Raidek and Jania travelled for the rest of the day through the grasslands, sparsley populated by trees as the two and Jania's companion traveled. Little was said, and Raidek felt it was best this way. The dirt path from the city they left continued north and steadily curved toward the west though never going straight west itself.
The next day a few hours before evening they reached the small town with the mountains far to the south of them. The city itself appeared carved from stones, and was surrounded by grasslands, the ocean distanced miles from the city, but if one tried they could smell the ocean air, even here. They approached the wooden gate to the city a watchmen sitting in his post, a mounted and anyone would agree, very large crossbow sat next to him. Especially since the bolts looked like halved spears, and the crank's wheel was the size of a wooded wheelbarrow wheel. The guard stood walking to the railing, the sun revealing his aged and whiskered face. "Even when the wind is from the south one can smell the ocean's air."
Raidek laughed and looked up to the man, "That is not the ocean air, but the sweat of us mean who built this city." The guard laughed and waved to someone on the other side, slowly the heavy wooden doors opened before them. "This is a city of craftsmen." He turned to Jania the smile on his face hidden only by the mask he wore. Down the main road, several smiths, leather workers, stone workers, basket weavers, and the like were busy at work, there apprentices moving about getting them supplies and loading up carts with the goods for them to take and trade to other cities.
The guard looked to Jania, "Little girl your spider cannot go inside the city." Raidek nodded to Jania, "They wouldn't appreciate its presence, nor would the resident master of our art." He laughed at himself, he laughed finding himself talking in such a way, but thus was the affect of Calcruz on him. Raidek always liked this place.
((Well this is the city Stoic, let me know if I need to change anything))

Kin's speed spell had just about wore off by this time but he quickly cast it once again while he had his claws crossed up against his enemy combatant's sword. "Volo." Kin casted while he pushed his enemy away from him in a parrying manner and then began his traditional darting around quickly as he attacked other surrounding enemies and came back within just moments to return to his battle with the enemy combatant that had attempted to strike him before.
With Kin's tremendous speed, he continued to push the enemy back further and further with quick charges with his speed until he was fairly closer to where Sai was. Out of the corner of Kin's eye, he noticed that their ship was ready to open fire on the enemy ship.
"Sai! We need to get out of here soon if we don't want to be in the middle of friendly fire." Kin called out to Sai, not breaking his concentration from the enemy he was attacking.
Just behind Kin, the giant lizard Vix had bit was now ready to attack him again, though it seemed as if it's balanced had been distorted by Vix's bite.
