I play trombone and I know how to play baritone and tuba but I dont play them yet. Over the summer we're having music days and I'm starting to actually play baritone then and in concerts I'll be alternating between trombone baritone and tuba

Technically, I play 5 and am learning 2...
I play: Baritone Euphonium Marching Baritone Marching Trombone Valve Trombone
I'm learning: Slide Trombone Tuba
Yeah...I know...the first five are all but the same...but it sounds like a lot to people who don't know that! biggrin
Next, I hope to learn mellophone...

Also, I'm in marching, jazz, and symphonic band (symphonic band at my school = honors band; you have to audition)
Hey! Just thought of something!
Do you read bass cleff, trebble cleff, or no cleff? biggrin
I read bass...

Hear_DB: I know! There just aren't enough composers who write melodies for low brass, except sometimes euphonium, who always seem to have the coolest parts... There's a good amount of trombone melody in jazz I suppose if you really want it. I don't mind playing harmony parts though, I like the chords we make.
if it's not okay, then it's not the end.
you're right, euphoniums do always get the coolest parts.
as tubas though, with the music we've played we've gotten the melody a few times. British Eighth march had the best melody for us tubas. =D At least from what I've played. My BD kind of likes to take advantage of us as a five person tuba section. xD
A good song for tuba medoly is Music for a Drakened Theater. It's got a solo in "This Is Halloween," a soli, and melody in "Beetlejuice."
Oh, and I mainly play tuba and sousaphone. I started euphonium and arching baritone, though.
=============================
Sorry...working on figuring out the reply stuff...
Anywho, MUSIC FOR A DARKENED THEATER (the music of Danny Elfman) IS WHAT MY MARCHING BAND PLAYED LAST YEAR!!!
We're located in Abington PA.
The songs we played were, in order: --What's This? from Nightmare Before Christmas --Edward Scissorhands --Peewee Herman's Big Top --Beetlejuice (yeah, I know, wrong spelling...) --Batman
I play marching baritone in marching band, but, since I stand in front of the sousas, a know which have the best tuba lines: --What's This? is pretty good. There are some really cool sections for tuba, but the rest is sorta repetitive... --Edward Scissorhands is sorta okay. There's one really cool lick, but otherwise, not so hot... --Peewee Herman's Big Top (aka the Evil-Dancing-Murderous-Clown or D's-scaring-us song) is not so hot. Don't even bother with the tuba part... --BEETLEJUICE HAS A FREAKING AMAZING TUBA PART!!! (I like it in general cuz it sounds cool and there is a baritone/mello solo thingy!) --Batman is pretty neat, and the tuba part isn't so repetitive!
As for jazz pieces with good tuba stuff, try "Children of Sanchez"
And, yes, euphoniums have the coolest parts...and I LOVE them!!! I play euphonium by choice in symphonic band! Especially for solos like in "Folk Songs From Sommerset" (sp?) and "Second Suite in F"!!!

I play the trumpet and I was wondering how hard is it to learn the baritone? I want to sign one out this summer and I just want an idea of how difficult it will be to learn.

Learning baritone isn't hard. The fingerings are the same as the trumpet, and you CAN read bass cleff on it, though I recommend learing bass.
The hardest part'll be getting used to the mouthpiece...I recommend a Vincent Bach 6 1/2 AL personally...
Oh, wait! Also, it takes more air to play baritone, but if you work on learing baritone while continuing to play trumpet, your breath support on trumpet will improve a lot!
