Can anyone tell me what the price range is for the silver Bachs, then? All I have right now is my beginner bach trumpet and I want a silver one. Very badly. Especially since I plan to go on to play at WCU. 3nodding

It really depends on what kind of Bach you want. There isn't much of a difference between the price of a gold Bach and a silver Bach, but there are different Bachs out there. A Bach TR-300 can be anywhere from $200 to $400 if you check on Ebay or similar places, while a TR-200 can be anywhere from $400 (if you're lucky) to $800, and a Stradivarius can be anywhere from $750 (if you're really lucky) to about $1,000.
It also depends on when you get the trumpet, as I discovered (*just went on a Bach search last summer). If you start looking right at the beginning of the summer, they'll be a lot cheaper than right before the school year begins.
On a personal note, I love my Stradivarius, and I got moved up to third chair (1st trumpet now!) last month. :3

Especially since I plan to go on to play at WCU. 3nodding This information regards to a Stradivarius Bach. Typically a Bach Trumpet will cost just over $1000, but I have seen one around here that looks really nice and sounds really nice that is $1500. I play on a cornet and managed to get mine used for about $800. When you get one, be really careful with it, they are expensive but great. Remember, a Bach may make you sound nicer, but it doesn't automatically make you sound awesome, you have to work at it still; even a Monette won't make a crappy player sound good. I don't know what kind of mouthpiece you use but all the teachers I have ever had recommend a 3C for a good sound with a great high range, and I back them (considering I can hit an A 5 ledger lines up, lol, sorry, had to brag on that) Preferably just get a 3C Bach mouthpiece for a bright sound, but if you want a dark sound get a mega-tone. I like the mega tone because I tend to sound too bright so it tones me down. Try to record yourself with Audacity or something, or ask a band director if you need a brighter or darker sound. PM me if you have more questions since I don't check the guild too often.

Ok, thanks for all your help! *considers herself informed and will keep everything in mind when she begins her search* Since Christmas is about to start, maybe I can get some good deals. 3nodding
I play on a 7C bach mouthpiece at the moment and I need one to help me reach the higher notes. It's painful hitting the A one ledger above the staff. sweatdrop

I can make those 4th ledger Gs come out of those without too much pain. They're extremely bright, though, so don't ever use them in concert/classical situations, but if range is what you want, try one out.

Really? Oohhhh. I'll definitely have to look into that. Hmmm.... I kinda need it for concert band, though. But, still, I'll have to try one out.
I got to check out a Bach Stradivarius at the local Howren's. And it was beautiful. But over $3000. Even with some discount, it would've still been $2,250 or something. crying I shall continue my search.

crying What's up with all this Bach Strad supremacy?
A lot of our guys here play on 'em, but all of our really good ones play Yamaha Xenos (and that's saying something, considering our trumpet ensemble got 6th in the nation at the last NTC; one place below Julliard).
I mean, Bach Strads are good and all, but how come no one gives the poor Xeno a little lovin'?

I dunno why there's so much supremacy. I was just told they're really good. My big question would have to be: Are the Yamaha Xenos just as good and but cheaper than the Bac Strads? By a lot?

Yes on the cheaper ($1500 was what I payed for my Xeno C trumpet, and you said that the one they sold in the store was $3000), but they aren't necessarily better... but I'd go as far as saying that the Bach Strads aren't better either. I've played on both of them quite extensively, so I'd say that they're pretty much equal. If you don't wanna spend big money, but want that professional sound, I'd recommend a Xeno. :3

Dude, does anyone else on here have a plastic mouthpiece? I met a trumpet today who goes to South Point High School and he has a PLASTIC mouthpiece. It was so cool. 3nodding

Oohhhh. That's very impressive. I think I'd have to go all the way to Charlotte for one of those, though. confused I think I'll just have to stick with the metal mouthpieces for the moment.
Soo, found some better silvers- even a yamaha for about $1200. Now, I must plot how to get my parents to help me pay for it. 3nodding
