                                                              It was quite something else to be complimented on his life and his company. More so with such gusto. Sure Damen was aware he had done pretty well by now, but it nonetheless made him blush a little. It would seem that for Mark it was an amazing thing to consider. The demon nodded with a slightly subdued smile for a moment when they spoke again. "It can be. I am one of the engineers that help create the toys and it went very well, until more and more people wanted to have them." he admitted. Sure they had switched to a more automated factory by now, also of company engineer design, but shops kept needing new ones. Who knew how long this would lest, but right now what Damen needed most was a little breather. With the growing wishes for the products, paperwork had started to pile up on the man's desk which needed to be put in the computer.

                                                              "The paperwork is more intimidating than the creation itself." Damen sighed a bit and chuckled despite his disposition. After that it was his turn to listen again as Mark spoke about Soleil and then answered his question. Though it would seem Damen had brought a lot of embarrassment to Mark by returning the question. That had not been his intention. It was a moment where Damen simply observed Mark for a moment as he stabbed into his snack. There was obviously something more going on here. "Not really." the demon said as he leaned back into his more casual position and placed a hand on his chin as he thought about the other's answer.

                                                              "It seems easy to forget some people have more going on than what shows on the surface. And some of these can really cripple someone's progress. I know I probably am the last to say this to you with my company and all, but a lot of successful people seem to think it always just comes so easily for everyone." Another thing Damen had not forgotten. Though he could understand some would be clouded towards other's plights, humans especially so. More over he couldn't even start to imagine just how far Mark had to go before he would be back on track. He seemed even further down in that situation than Damen had ever been. Not that there was a lot the demon could do to help with that. Except for offering a listening ear. Damen suddenly realized he had been lost in thoughts for a while and chuckled softly. "My apologies, I was sidetracked for a moment there." he apologized to the other.

                                                              Well they got this far. What would be the harm? "Do you have any plans that could change your situation and help you get back on your own two feet?" he inquired curiously. Just perhaps he would be able to aid with those. Since he knew little and less about Mark so far, it would hardly be wise to just decide a way to help based on conjecture alone. Though the man wasn't sure how he could be of help, he wanted to at least try. Mark kind of reminded him of his own when younger, though the young man was undeniably further gone than he had been.

Mark was a bit surprised when he took a glance to see the other guy blush at the compliment, didn't everybody find it amazing? To open up your own company and have it be successful? That was about as amazing as you could possibly get in his opinion, it showed real dedication. He then offered a little smile to the other man "Wow...that really is cool! I mean...creating the toys themselves must have..been hard work.." he stated in wonder as he thought about trying to build something from scratch like that. He couldn't even imagine himself building a computer or anything like that, let alone an entire line of toys for children, it seemed impossible! But then when he informed the young man that the paperwork was more intimidating he paused for a second before realizing that there was more to owning a business than just making the product. Agreements, contracts, and all that stuff must have been a nightmare to keep up with "Actually...I could eh..only imagine just..how bad it could be..." honestly it hadn't even crossed his mind until that moment that there was so much more to owning a company and it made sense now why he moved here to Soleil. To have so much responsibility and work that needed to be done, it must have been killing him in terms of stress. When compared to his own reasons for being here Mark felt like a child by comparison to Damen. Then again what else was new? Plenty of other people had real problems to deal with and here Mark was acting like things were so hard. So when Damen disagreed with his self deprecating joke Mark dared to look up again to see the other man looked a bit thoughtful. So hearing Damen begin to speak hit home quite a bit for the young man as he slowly nodded his head and let the words sink in a little bit. More below the surface that can cripple someone's progress, it was almost laughable how easily the other man had Mark pegged so accurately. As he continued listening Mark would glance up, only for his gaze to falter back to his empty plate as he pondered Damen's question for a moment before he softly shrugged his shoulders "I..I Mean...I've been applying to uh...you know...try and get a job...but I got turned down a couple times..." Mark wouldn't elaborate on the 'why' and only on the fact that it was. He just didn't want to be judged by a possible new acquaintance or even friend, as silly as it might have been considering the fact that they only met so soon.

                                                              --:::------::------------------->⛥<--------------------::------:::---

                                                              It was really strange to hear them so lavished and complimenting about his achievements. Yet it wasn't a bad kind of strange. Perhaps Damen really had something to be proud of. The man smiled a bit as he shook his head. For this to be pretty much enlightened to him by a fresh young adult, it was intriguing. "It was, but I enjoy making things. Especially if they make other people happy. Sadly nowadays I am more buried in paper than bolts and screws." Damen rubbed his head a bit. Just thinking about what even still lay at his desk back at the company was giving him a headache! Thankfully, his second in command had taken that over for now, but it was still daunting to think about for the demon. Just when had he allowed for it to be getting this bad? Damen knew he was at least somewhat to blame for it. But there really hadn't been more he could have done, lest he would have hit a roadblock.

                                                              Next to contracts and agreements alone, he also had to keep up with the bookkeeping of his sales and of course there had been times where the toys just weren't up to par and had to be called back. By fault of the factory or transport, Damen always felt like he had to make good on it. This was no good, he could feel his head start to spin at remembering all that. At least until he had considered Mark's words. And his reply hadn't even been because he guessed something specific was going on with Mark, it was just generally so. After he asked his question, the other had fallen silent, but Damen once more just waited patiently as he sat up a bit, rubbing his temple. Though he thought he may know why Mark had been unable to find work so far.

                                                              Even just talking to him here and now, Damen had to admit he would also be hesitant to hire the young man based on his approach alone. The only thing that the demon could tell from this current conversation was that Mark's self-confidence was pretty much ground leveled. Damen sighed softly, perhaps even inaudibly and leaned forward with his arms on the table as he fixed his amber gaze on Mark."You are young yet, so you don't have experience to help back you up. I am not sure what places you have applied to so far, but have you considered looking for simple jobs first? To build up some working experience." Damen stated calmer than he felt at the moment. That wasn't on Mark however, he had moved to Soleil for a reason and for a moment that reason had been staring back at him like some fiend ready to pounce. Gads he needed some fresh air.

                                                              He could feel his muscles tense up with renewed stress after he inadvertently had reminded himself about his company. Nonetheless he stayed in his seat. Somehow he felt like that was the better thing to do and he really wanted to help this boy out. He could probably have offered him a low demand job at his own company, were it not he wasn't there at the moment himself. To not even mention the fact it was situated quite far from Soleil, by design. Damen hadn't moved to Soleil on a whim. Perhaps a change of scenery would help them both. "If you want to, I can try and help you out with finding a job." he said to Mark. Or perhaps at least a goal in life, it seemed like Mark didn't really have any at the moment and it would help get things moving for him no doubt. That said where would they go for a change of scenery?

                                                              The demon thought about it to himself. It would be kind of strange to ask someone he just met to come with him to his house, maybe it would even be misunderstood. Though it didn't really seem right to continue this conversation out in the open either. Damen knew some people had their ears attuned for that sort of thing and it really was kind of personal was it not? Damen decided to first wait how Mark would even react to his offer and he looked at the other, smiling a bit again as he realized how sullen he must have looked. To him his own plight didn't far rest as heavy on his shoulders as Mark's plight did on his. Perhaps they wouldn't even want a near total stranger to be meddling in their life as much. He would sure understand if Mark preferred not to continue about it.

Mark nodded his head a bit when the other spoke about his duties at the company he owned. Being forced to do something else often instead of what you actually enjoy doing was probably awful to deal with. Mark did find it a bit inspiring though that he made toys and stuff like that just to make people happy, it was a goal that the young man respected. He would then take another drink of his coffee as he sat there and explained about his own working situation. Mark knew that some employers weren't interested in a mouse with many issues that he was still working through. It'd make them liable should something happen at work and it wasn't like he could hide his medical record from them. And then the places that might accept him had uniforms that had to be adhered too which meant Mark ran the risk of not being able to wear his jackets and whatnot. It was a hard situation for the young man to say the least but he was trying his hardest but as time went on it was becoming more and more difficult to feel motivated to go and put himself out there. That's when he saw the other man rub his temples out of the corner of his eye and slight panic began to set in. Was Damen getting tired of speaking to him? His own complaining must have really gotten the other man annoyed, it was obvious that he was just trying to be polite and not walk away. Should Mark just excuse himself and give the older man an out so he could finally leave? Maybe just apologize for annoying him and walk away? He was just about to go with the latter when Damen began to speak about a lack of work experience. Slowly Mark began to shrink back into his seat as he felt his face begin to warm once more and a pit just hit the bottom of his stomach, making Mark feel physically ill. He was quiet for a moment and then glued his gaze to the coffee, refusing to look at his new acquaintance as the younger just wanted the ground to swallow him up completely "I..I've tried..t.to become a..um..a cashier...and a d..dish washer..." those were pretty much the lowest level jobs he could have tried to get and he was denied with both of them. Mark felt his face begin to burn even harsher in shame as the stutter came back with vengeance. He'd tried really hard to put his best foot forward in the interviews but his lack of confidence coupled with the medical report that they all had access too meant that Mark was fighting an uphill battle and each refusal was another moment he felt knocked down and unable to get up. In fact the more he dwelled on his own failure and ineptitude the more he felt himself begin to slip back into a bad mindset. He just wanted something to take the edge off, once more couldn't hurt considering how messed up he already was. But then he remembered his therapist's scolding words so instead Mark grabbed his coffee and began to drink the rest of the hot liquid in one sitting, it didn't help none but he needed to do something, anything to distract himself. But then the other man's words reached him and had Mark blinking "Really? But...we're..strangers still..why help me? I mean I'm just a lost cause...y..you'd just be wasting your t..time.." the last thing he wanted was to get in the way of the other man's vacation and escape from work. To stop Damon from relaxing and enjoying his time away from work just seemed selfish for the young man to do.

                                                              Damen was unaware as to how his actions to quell his own renewing stress made Mark think, though he did realize they seemed to shrink back in their first behavior when they just met. The demon blinked a bit as he looked at the young man. Had it been something he said? Perhaps it had been insensitive of him to just blatantly state the obvious. Something he unfortunately could not roll back. He had said it without thinking, was that why the other was falling back into his nerves again. "Forgive me, that might have been callous." he apologized for his brazen statement. He wanted to help Mark feel better, instead Damen was of the impression that his words caused him perhaps even greater discomfort.

                                                              However, despite the renewed nerves, it would seem, Mark did answer his question and Damen nodded as he listened. So those actually were low level jobs. Then how come he was being refused for even those? It was no surprise, the way Mark replied to his latter words. Damen had to admit himself even, why would someone help a total stranger? Though for him it wasn't a mystery at all. "To be fair?" he started as he, this time, really thought about his words. Still convinced his callous comment had caused Mark to shrink back, he wanted to avoid that any further at all costs. "You remind me of myself when I was younger. Before I could start my own company I had to earn money to chase my dream." he started as he remembered the struggle he had gone through. A struggle before he had decided to let people think he was just another human like them.

                                                              "I always enjoyed engineering and I was eager to start working in it. I even had the papers and grades to prove I was capable." Damen sighed deeply as he remembered that time. "Yet I was refused time and time again. It was a task just finding a person willing to hire me and if they did it was never long before I got sacked on...some stupid reason." he lifted up some of his own background to Mark, though he looked away for a moment. He was not comfortable yet sharing he wasn't human. This was often why these men and women of companies had sacked him just because they found out what he was. "After some years I had finally earned enough money to at least fund my own products." Damen looked back at Mark who was sitting before him still.

                                                              "I know how damning it can be to be turned back again and again." he then said, before he would make it to long a story for Mark to be willing to follow it all. Granted he had avoided falling as deep as Mark had, but everyone was different. "I know how hard it is and what it can do to someone. If you are on the same path as I once was, yet I hold the experience to help you, I would never forgive myself for never offering you a helping hand." he finished. Damen wasn't sure how Mark would take the meaning of the words, but the demon spoke true. Considering the way Mark had carried himself before and the subdued demeanor he had fallen into now, just how far had it already come for the young man?

                                                              Somehow Damen felt like it was a pretty deep pit. Of course Damen had papers and diplomas, but preparations for interviews and the like were pretty much the same. "I'm not sure about any credentials you have, but every job has at least a base line for job interviews. I have been on both sides of these, If you would, let me try to help you at least." the demon finished, waiting for the other's reaction. No matter how much Damen wanted to help him, it really was up to Mark if he even wanted the man to get so involved. Damen knew how to prepare for an interview, as well as how they were mainly conducted and what most people looked for in employees. He was perfectly willing to allow Mark to dig into this mine of knowledge. It never hurt to be prepared.

Mark tried to quietly take deeper breaths to reduce his own anxity to little avail. He needed to just excuse himself from the table since the other man was clearly irritated by his presence now, it made the young man a bit sad since he thought the other man was rather pleasant to speak too. However just as he was about to excuse himself and get out of there running the other man apologized which surprised Mark somewhat, why was he apologizing? Mark was the one who was annoying him. He quickly shook his head a little bit, albeit still having a hard time looking at Damen at current moment "Huh!? N..no! You didn't...It's just I..well..never mind..." Mark ended up just whispering the last bit as he couldn't just say that he thought that he was annoyed with him. Instead he just explained his situation to the older man and just began to twiddle his thumbs as some as Damen seemed to consider the question for a moment. However Mark would look up in a bit of surprise when the other began to speak and slowly Mark perked up a bit more. He reminded Damen of himself? That couldn't even be true, the other man just seemed to be so confident and sure of himself. There was no way. But as he spoke more and more Mark stopped his fidgeting and listened to him continue on and made sure to be as attentive as possible to the other man "Really?" he spoke softly before he continued on and Mark couldn't even believe his ears, someone who was a talented engineer and good grades got fired, he shook his head "I don't see why anyone would fire you!" he spoke without pausing or stuttering for once before Mark realized his small outburst before shrinking back a bit "I..I mean well...you have a lot of talent and it's just..you know...hard to believe..." finally as Mark made sure not to speak out like that again so not to sound like a fool he actually dared to feel hopeful for once. This much more experienced man was willing to help Mark improve himself and maybe allow himself to get a proper job. Of course this all could just be one big ruse to get him to agree to something but at this point Mark was so down on himself and desperate that he didn't care. If this man turned out to be a murderer it wouldn't even phase him that much as all it meant was that he wasted his therapists time, that's it. So he'd put his eggs in one basket and nodded his head "P...please Damen! I'll do it...I need...something...anything..." he wasn't sure what but Mark knew that he needed to improve himself and knowing how to get a job was the first big step for him. He just needed to know what Damen wanted him to do!

                                                              --:::------::------------------->⛥<--------------------::------:::---

                                                              Damen tilted his head ever so slightly as he tried to understand what was going on. If it hadn't been something he said, then what caused this sudden revert from Mark? When they reacted so unbelieving about Damen being turned down and all and came with even more compliments, the demon wasn't sure what to say or where to look. Instead he just chuckled a bit as he scratched one of his cheeks which had a renewed shade of crimson. To him it really wasn't that big of a deal. He just did what he liked to do. "Well..." he said but then sighed and shook his head. "It does not matter." he finished and gave Mark a gentle smile. Perhaps someday, not today. After all they just met and the man wasn't even sure if he would still see the young man once his career took off. Though if it meant that Mark was helped, then that was fine.

                                                              When he waited for Mark to consider his proposal, Damen gave him all the time and started to just put his cup on his plate before sitting back and looking at Mark. It was quite a difficult decision he granted the young man that too. Some total stranger was offering him help out of the blue with something that personal. To his surprise however, it didn't take as long as he was expecting it to. And they seemed really eager to start as soon as possible. Damen couldn't help but give a light chuckle before he nodded. "You don't have to say please, I'll be happy to help. But perhaps a change of scenery would be good." he spoke his thoughts to Mark and got up from his seat.

                                                              He wasn't going to leave yet, but he wanted to at least take the cup and plate to the counter. Perhaps Mark's too if he had finished his drink and food, otherwise he would just bring his own to the cashier. Either way he would turn back to Mark after and nodded. "Is there any calm place in particular that you feel comfortable in?" he asked the other. Damen didn't know this place yet anyway and since it would be Mark's personal life he would help out with, he figured it might as well be somewhere they felt right to be.

Mark would glance up again to see the others gentle smile and it helped put some of his nerves at ease, they had been running rampant since his mini breakdown but thankfully they were beginning to calm down. Now he couldn't tell if he actually was annoying Damen or if it was all in his imagination, it wouldn't be the first time. But then why did he make that face? Mark chose to not dwell on it too much because otherwise he might just stress himself out once more and that was something that the young man wanted to avoid at all costs. Finally when he did give his answer Mark almost dared to feel hopeful that maybe he could get some real help now in the job department or at the very least learn some useful tips. Mark thought that he was done blushing for the day once it had gone away but that didn't seem to be the case when the older man pointed out that he didn't need to say please. His face burned rather heavily again once he realized that in his excitement he had begged Damen for help, even if his pride was zero it was still embarrassing to think about "R..right sorry..." he quietly spoke but a look of surprise grew on his face when he spoke about a change of scenery. Like...going somewhere else? He quickly grabbed his own empty cup and plate before following after Damen to bring the items back to them and he thought for a moment "I mean...I like to hang out at the arcade but..that's not a good place to um..to talk.." finally he then rubbed the back of his head awkwardly "But there is...my place..not to be weird! It's just...I don't go out much so...yeah..." honestly there wasn't too many places Mark felt wholly comfortable at outside of his own home but he also knew it probably sounded so weird to invite a stranger to his house "I..I mean I'm cool with wherever of course! As long as I can...get..some kind of uh..help with this..."

                                                              Damen chuckled a bit when he heard the answer. So they liked to play games did they? Not that the man could say he was surprised. Same went for when he was told they could always go to Mark's place. It made sense that would be where Mark would feel most comfortable. Home was usually the best place. The demon smiled and nodded. Then he walked back to their table and picked up his jacket. This time he wouldn't put it on though, it was way to warm for that. Instead, once he turned back and joined Mark to walk out of the doors, he swung the coat over his shoulder casually and waited for the other to show the way. "Your home it is, as long as you feel comfortable and good to talk there." he agreed with the young man.

                                                              It was true that he, too, had considered it strange to invite Mark over to his house after they just met. But perhaps he could have easily done it after all. If Mark too spoke about it. Perhaps next time, if they would become friends and meet more often. Damen would follow Mark just how he showed him to walk. Mayhap Damen could even see more of the areas as they went. Depending where and how far this young man lived from their current position. To him this entire place was new, so right now he was at Mark's mercy either way. The demon would have a hard time finding the way back, so he made sure to memorize some landmarks for now.

Coffee, coffee, coffee..... Diana's caffeine-withdrawal was taking its toll on her. She had just finished moving into town and had depleted her coffee stores staying up late the last few days in order to unpack into her new home. She still hadn't quite gotten the layout of the town down to memory yet, and so was unable to find a grocery store. Thus, here the redhead was, coffee-less and deathly close to ripping somebody's head off if she didn't get the largest cup of that heavenly liquid into her as soon as possible. She had been trudging down the street, zombie-like in appearance, when she caught the rich and familiar aroma of ground coffee beans. All but yanking the door right off of its hinges, the woman entered the coffee shop and eagerly made her way up to the counter.

She looked absolutely run down. Dark circles made their home underneath smoky gray eyes, and she had a stoop in her posture. She was truly the human embodiment of exhaustion. Clearing her throat, the fire-haired human slammed a handful of money onto the smooth countertop. Two of the largest blonde roasts you have, please. Just black, nothing in them. The woman swiped the coffee cups the moment they were handed to her and slumped down in the first available chair. Not daring to wait until the coffee had cooled, the woman tipped the cup back and began to pour the scalding liquid down her throat.

It felt like a fire had been re-lit within her; the warmth from the coffee spread from her core outwards and revitalized the redhead. Smiling, the girl stretched her long limbs around her and took in the sunlight that filtered through the windows. I can't remember the last time I spent time outside during the day.... The woman took another sip of her coffee. She had spent much of her recent life lurking in the dark, hunting things that would make any other human's skin crawl. She had come to this city for a fresh start, a period of rest after her latest assassination attempt. A couple of 'wolves had put up a hell of a fight...besides, large cities tended to have lots of...work available.

Finishing her second cup of coffee remarkably quickly, Di returned to the line that had formed in order to order another cup to take with her. With a day like today, she wanted to spend every possible moment outside soaking up the sunlight she so rarely got to see.

〝〞 Cyanide was peering down into her coffee with a scowl. half wishing she could put something stronger in it. with a light sigh she picked it up and drained it. She was slightly hung over from the night before, of which she didn't remember much of. And if one thing got rid of a hangover it was getting shitty. She had woken up floating in a tree, a perk of being dead was that she didnt have to worry about having any kinks in her neck!

A flash of red caught her eye as she saw a frazzled looking woman plop down and inhale her coffee. She was sitting alone and her body language read that she wasnt waiting on anyone. Smiling Cyanide decided to slide into her DMs. Except you know....in real life. She slipped out of the visible spectrum and sat herself across from the woman. She 'popped' back into sight, leaning forward on her elbows. "Rough night?" she purred, and then blinked at the empty seat she was staring at.
Glancing around with a scowl she realized the woman had gotten up and gotten back in line, her cheeks flushed slightly and she slipped back out of sight, hoping no one saw her folley. She instead positioned herself at the front counter, waiting awkwardly while the line slowly moved. She popped into sight when the woman went to pay for her coffee. "This ones on me," she purred, "want some company?"

Diana was obviously still feeling the affects of unpacking and the need to make her new apartment feel like a real home. Having not noticed a rather ghostly looking girl appear right in front of her before she popped back in line was something that this huntress would hardly ever allow. She was truly off of her game when she didn’t get sleep, and this case was no exception.

Pulling more money out of her pocket, the redhead froze when a girl phased into sight right there on the counter. Diana was shocked. How had she not picked up on this creatures presence? Was she really that far off of her peak form that she didn’t feel the tell-tale shiver up her spine that came along with hidden beings? Had she just ignored the feeling of the hair on the back of her neck standing on edge?

Diana paused for a moment, glancing at this ghoul-like feminine being in front of her with nothing but suspicion in her unusual, cat-like eyes. The gray-green orbs narrowed as she studied this girl that had offered to pay for her coffee. I’ve got it. The huntress paid for her drink and took a step away from the counter. Why was this stranger being so ... chummy? The woman wasn’t used to such forward advances from absolute strangers and reacted the only way she knew how I’m unfamiliar social circumstances; by being frigidly cold. The red head returned to her seat, setting her mug down on the stained table before her. She glanced back over her shoulder, one elegant eyebrow arched over a hopelessly curious eye. Was there something this ghost wanted? What was her deal?

Cyanide pursed her lips as the woman shot her down. She had felt a thrill of danger when she had first appeared in the girls vision that had her all the more curious. It wasnt in her power repertoire but she could tell that the girl wasn't a run of the mill human. Her eyes were uncanny, they almost seemed to glow.

With a sigh Cya went to move on with her day, clearly the woman had no inter- she watched as those green eyes swept back to look at her curiously. brow arched artfully. She grinned wickedly, she didnt mind a little game of cat and mouse.

She snagged a random coffee off the counter and moved back to the seat across from the woman. With out saying anything she sipped at the coffee, trying not to visibly wince at the nasty bitter horses s**t that was in her cup.

Once again this ethereal woman slipped into Diana's field of view, this time with a cup of coffee in hand. The scarlet-haired woman took this chance to study this apparition in front of her; this woman was truly void of color...save for the slight red tint that spread across her sclera, giving her the appearance of someone who had either spent far too long awake or who had spent far too long crying. Either way, the effect was eerie. Feline-like eyes scanning the woman's figure noted this ghostly figure was dressed in a rather lovely wedding dress...a somewhat odd choice, but then again, who's to say this being had any choice in the matter of what she could and could not wear. In Diana's experience dealing with the undead, often times their clothing reflected their last moments; if that held true to this particular being, then... What an unfortunate wedding day. Di thought to herself before tapping the mug in her hands on the table.

The woman's curiosity truly was getting the better of her. The thirst for knowledge from her previous life was not something that Di had ever overcome. Alright, I'll bite. The woman said and leaned forward, fiery locks cascading over her shoulder. I can tell that coffee isn't your drink of choice. The wince and scowl that this apparition had produced did not go unnoticed; Diana truly couldn't understand how someone didn't like coffee. The huntress lusted for coffee in the same way that vampires thirsted for blood. She narrowed her eyes ever so slightly, a small smirk playing at her lips. The expression wasn't necessarily a friendly one, Di had a tendency to look rather aggressive, but the woman was truly curious about the figure before her. Why are you following me around this coffee shop?
