The druid shrugged.

"It'll basically last until the Unreality you put into yourself balances out with the Reality around it and stabilizes. You'll be able to feel when this is going to be happening. The power of it will fall with time unless you restore its power periodically. I can't say how long yours will last,

((Actually, SirBayer, that quote was a certain David Farragut in the American Civil War. He actually SURVIVED that battle to capture a major city. Torpedoes, in that context, actually meant underwater mines. He was informed there were many underwater mines (torpedoes) between his fleet and the city, to which he replied, "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!"

American Naval Commanders are ******** crazy. Just, like... yeah.

Go through this link. Ctrl+F, type in "The US Navy's crowning moment" (without the quotes) and read the ensuing material.

And Siber, we like the walls of text. Or at least, I do. And I'm the one who decides who gets what, so my opinion is the only one that counts anyw-

Did I just say that? I mean, HA HA, RESPECT THEIR OPINYUNS.))

((Walls of text for the win.

As for the torpedoes... well, I don't look into these things very often. You should go on Jeopardy, you obviously have the obscure knowledge to win, Venom. You could make some serious money easy-like.))

((Haha, no, my knowledge is obscure and limited to things like history, basic calculus, physics, and the like. None of this "Movies Starting with the Letter 'Q' Category!" bullshit.

((you guys...confuse me. xd
he's technically the first to learn a shield, but Joe has hastily improvved a shield out of wind before. just sayin.))

Joe waved a hand tiredly. "Outside is fine. Let's just get moving. Tell me as we go."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 02, 2008 8:18 pm

((Deflection =/= shield. A wind barrier will disperse fireballs and make a melee weapon difficult to use, but a full-on shield provides better defense at less cost to those with the skill to create them. There will be quite some diversity in the shields each of you will make when you get yours.))

"Okay. First is Bloodhounds. A Bloodhound is able to appear as a completely normal person - no magic signature, no fangs, no aversion to sunlight. They're the only perfectly undetectable magic being known to exist. They feed every few days on the blood of a vampire and in return act as agents for them. They get about half-power of almost all the advantages and none of the disadvantages. Their only problem is dependency on their master - if they don't get their blood dose, they die. Duke Yang has about forty of every race-gender combination possible. He's the only one who has made a point of diversifying his Bloodhounds. Also- who the ******** is that? Third-eye her, she's clearly magic, and her magic... feels like ours."

He nodded in the direction of a curly-haired Spanish-or-Mexican-looking girl.

((KudaKitsuneRikku, you're in.))

((ahh. gotcha. can't wait to see mine. blaugh ))

Joe flinched ever so slightly. He had never been too great at third eye. ((does he even know it?))
He sent out instead a pulse of his mana, which allowed him to briefly see everything as it was, which could be bad in the right situation. Luckily, the only magic in the absolute vicinity was the girl in front of them, the small critters and plants, and Takeshi and Joe.
"Who...whatever." Joe turned to Takeshi. "She's like us, but relatively weak. We might have a chance to train her, but for now we need to get moving. Either grab her, or let's go."

((seriously, if i don't get to post in the morning, push the story ahead, OK? i won't be back til Monday, but then i'm back for good.))
PostPosted: Sat Aug 02, 2008 10:45 pm

((Third-eye use is a natural ability for most forms of magic-user. It just needs to be focused on. Like smell, but not. xd

And I didn't post this morning because I went to a BBQ with friends. biggrin ))

"Don't underestimate her strength. Remember what I said of Bloodhounds? If a vampire can get a reliable mage or something, that's just the start of your troubles," Takeshi cautioned.

((hmm. ok. then my use of it is just different. it adds flavor to the story.))

Joe nodded conceedingly. "True. All right, then we'll deal with her. How do we proceed?"

Pavement rushed up!

Agnese furrowed her brow, wondering just why the heck she'd be seeing pavement rushing towards her. Granted she was talking on the phone while carrying several lunch bags and entering data into her palm piolet, but-

Then she felt mana that was definately not hers wash over her, giving Agnese a start and making her come face to face with the sidewalk.

<(How on Earth did I end up with you as one of my children)>

"Technically I'm not your direct child," Aggnese whispered quietly to the voice in her head. One of her grandmothers from way long ago. One Ana Maria de San Juan de Villa Lobo, or as Aggnese liked to call her, Obuelita.

<(Even so to fall down over a little push of magic?)> Ana chided lightly.

"Hello," Aggnese said, as she gathered herthings back together. "Worlds biggest klutz?" She glowered at the bag of to-go lunches, they were sitting perfectly in their little boxes.

"Well. This is intriguing. Cover my back, I'm going to stalk her as best I can..." Takeshi murmured.

<(Heads up Mija, someones coming this way)>

'Great, first he trips me and now he wants to talk, I'm late for a meeting!'

Agnese tried picking her things up quicker, along with tying to stand up a bit faster. This had the opposite effect of course and she ended up falling down again (rather hard when she was already sitting) and scattering her things a bit further.

"Ch, there are better ways to pick up girls you know?" She tossed out to whoever was listening.

Haru commented. he added at her last sentence. A short pause, then, just before Takeshi reached her, Haru added,

"Hey, you need help picking these up?" Takeshi asked, not bothering to wait for her answer before helping.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:59 am

"Not the most original line, but sure, I could use the help." Agnese gave him a small smile before actually focusing on picking her things up.

She stood quickly, but carefully, checking her shoes to make sure they weren't scuffed, or worse still, broken. That would be the fifth pair of Jimmy Chou's this month.

"So! Nice to meet you and all, but I need to get back to work. See you around!"

<(Freeze right there and introduce yourself properly little girl!)>

Ana's yelling nealy causnese to trip again, but she stopped and turned to the man. "Agnese Martinez. Thank you for helping me."

Paul was bored. He was carrying a relatively heavy firearm, nothing short of an (invisible) assault rifle, and he needed an opportunity to give it a run. The problem? He was nowhere near a shooting range, he wasn't in possession of any 5.56x45mm rounds other than ones he didn't care to waste, and he wasn't quite sure if he actually knew where he was.

Therefore, the sight of Joe standing across the street from him came as a welcome thing. Less welcoming was the fact that Takeshi was standing a short distance away, talking to some Hispanic girl. Paul paused, furrowing his brow. No, she wasn't just some Hispanic girl, she let off magic. Paul could feel it if he thought about it hard enough. Curious, Paul quickly crossed the street, aiming for Takeshi and his new friend. Saying nothing, he stood a couple of paces back, looking into a store window, while he grabbed the penny off from under his jaw, then slid it into his mouth, preparing to speak to Siber, wherever the man had gone.

"Siber, you here this? If so, where are you? I think I'm lost, probably upon epic levels. That and I wanted to know if you heard any of my conversation with Daedalus."
