Meta_Fish Allegro Fish- This is where recklessly spending money on Gaia Cash pays off, even if you have no vested interest in pixels. I just refuse to give Gaia any of my money. Understandably so- it's becoming a corporate behemoth. But I don't mind burning my cash at its Satanic altar, because Gaia's really one of the best things to happen to me. An outsider may find that pathetic, but Gaia has introduced me to people and ideas I never thought I'd find myself interacting with. Yes, it's a kettle of s**t sometimes, but the goodness of people on Gaia is part of what drove me to seek a career into helping people. I figure putting a couple bucks in its skanky G-string won't hurt. wink As long as the userbase continues to be enjoyable.

I'm not trying to sway people into bending over so Lanzer can scrape cash out of their bowels, but it's why I do what I do for Gaia.

Still, I don't see it as Gaia made the people this way. It's just the place that all the people met. I'm not going to go throw myself onto Myspace because I met my girlfriend there, just as I wouldn't go and donate money to the apartments I lived in as a child because I met my very best friend there.
You could meet the best people ever in concentration camps.

It's not perfect of course, but I can see several alternate realities where Gaia didn't last beyond its first year because of bungling on the staff's part. I think they do a damn good job of trying to make this the best kind of community for nerds of all flavors to meet and d**k around with pixels.

I'm just too stubborn to give money to a website that doesn't really give a s**t about me myself as a user. Now they just want our money, money, money.

But I respect your decision not to fund Lanzer's coke habit.

I'm just personally miffed that they never did anything about when I got hacked, and then I got hacked again all the items friends donated to me because Gaia didn't act. And that was over a year ago, and I reported it, and nothing ever happened. The freaking account even had posts in the forums about selling the very items that were hacked from me.
