Early the next morning, Ben woke up refreshed and ready for an awesome day. While he ate up a breakfast of champions consisting of wheat toast, eggs, bacon, and orange juice, he decided to let Pichu and Pidgey sleep in a little. After all, they'd be up for another great battle today. Once Ben was all done eating, he decided to quickly brush his hair before placing his cap back on his head. He couldn't help that his mother's voice still rang in his head, sometimes.

After what seemed like way too long getting ready, Ben set out back for Route 31 for the zillionth time, ready to take on that bug-cather kid once and for all. He knew he was ready - he wasn't the only one with 2 Pokemon this time, and both of his were tougher than Wade's (in his humble opinion). Coming into the grassy area by the road, Ben parks it with his bag and sits back to wait for the bug-catcher to show up. After all, he said he came here every day.

The ghost let out a haunting laughter that echoed through the cave at Dante's request. Who was the ghost kidding? He might be mad at his trainer. He might think that he was pretty bad at his damn job. Still, if he was asking for help like this, and seemed to actually mean it, then Kenny was going to be with his trainer every step of the way. Sitting up Kenny glanced over at his trainer for the first time ready to let him know that he would be their when something interesting caught his eye. Not able to help it the ghost broke into peals of laughter once again falling back onto the ground.

"Oh shut up Kenny! It's horrible I know!" Dante groaned and put his head between his knees as if ashamed of himself. "I loved it before! I looked like a guy! Sorta." Pause for a second. "Shut up damn it." The auburn haired boy groaned and glanced over at the ghost. "Seriously though I loved my hair before. Why? It is almost like there is some sort of cruel god who gets a sick sort of pleasure from tormenting me."

The ghost continued to laugh but it slowed down as he heard his trainers whine. To tell the truth Kenny had no idea what was up with his trainer hair. He must get more haircuts then most people got in a year, though this was like, a sort of reverse haircut. Getting up again Kenny sent his hand over to Dante and patted him on the back in a sort of comforting manner.

Sniffling slightly Dante glanced over at the ghost again through long auburn bangs. "Thanks buddy." Standing up and stretching a bit he reached over and helped the ghost up. "So I guess my first act of not being irresponsible anymore would be to head back wouldn't it?" He muttered looking over at the cave entrance. Kenny just shook his head and removing the heavy bag from his shoulder he dropped it on Dante's own. "Ouf! Ok, ok, I get it, I guess it would be to start carrying my stuff instead of having you guys do it." Adjusting the bag he opened up and flipped through everything, checking the egg and pulling out the pokeball that held Kali inside, he raised an eyebrow at that. "Interesting choice in companions. I take it Xannon and Turn A are at the pokemon center with Apollo?" Dark eyes watched Kenny nod before he sighed and he pulled out what he had been looking for, his cellphone.

I am glad you two found peace in this cave. I had been hoping that you would come to these conclusions on your own. A voice echoed in both Dante and Kenny's minds. The ghost jumped in surprise while Dante just sighed in annoyance as a small blue sprite appeared before them. I have often thought you lacked the willpower to truly be a great trainer. The road ahead of you will be hard, like you said earlier, the moment you start to rely on luck is when it abandons you. You must start anew if you wish to earn the right to your title as a trainer and our steward. The little sprite looked at them seriously for a moment before it grinned. That does not mean that you cannot be irresponsible for just a little longer. Your angry friend has had a tough time recently and could probably use a friend for his upcoming, you call them gym battles yes? Why do you not go visit him before you start anew once more? He will face a battle against the normal one, if you leave now you might be able to catch it. With that the blue spirit disappeared just as quickly as it appeared.

Angry friend? Dante wondered, he chose to ignore for the moment all the other stuff it had said. The teen already knew he had a long road ahead of him. "Angry friend?" Dante muttered aloud this time. After a second it came to him and he sent a small grin at Kenny. "What do you say we be irresponsible for just a little longer?" He asked the ghost. "Besides, I don't think you would have anyone else help you evolve now would you?" Dante pulled the Reaper Cloth they had earned out of his bag with a flourish. Kenny just laughed and nodded as he watched his trainer come over and tie it around his neck like a sort of morbid cape.

Glad you two agreed with me. Allow me to give you just a little bit more help. The voice said one more time before the duo disappeared and were blinded by the sudden sunny shores of Sunnyshore city the caws of Wingull and the sounds of a busy port echoing in their ears.

Riza wandered toward windows of the lobby as she listened to Crenu speak, unable to stop herself from grinning. "Ooh, a shower, hmm? How nice." Another thought caught her attention, however, and she straightened up. "How are your arms?" she asked, having not forgotten the mangled mess they were the last time she'd seen him. "Have you been taking care of yourself?" She paused, not wanting to sound like she was nagging him or being overprotective as she was not the doting motherly type. "Training's been good," she answered, leaning against the window sill as she looked out at the dreary grey Pewter City. She opened her mouth to mention Faustus' evolution but decided to keep it a surprise for now. "Selena's coming along very well. She's already learned how to use Vine Whip. And yes, I slept just fine." She glanced over at Hayley again, wondering what her new friend was up to but she'd disappeared for the moment. "What about you? Training hard, as always, I assume?" she asked, partially joking and partially serious. After all, Crenu rarely stopped training his Pokemon for anything. "And any word on Poliwhirl yet?"

Katie handed over the exact change for her purchase and practically skipped out of the store, hardly waiting until she was outside to teach Nell how to use Dig. The useless disc was thrown away and the two continued to wander along, and again Katie's gaze came to rest on the Daycare Center. She narrowed her eyes at it, looking down at her Buneary as she made a decision. "C'mon, Nell," she said, leading the rabbit Pokemon to a quiet spot where no one was around them. After making doubly sure that they were alone, Katie pulled out her phone and selected Mai's name from her contacts. Selecting the message option, she quickly typed out a message to the Rocket Admin:

Got the breeding data. Can't get the egg; it's too risky. -K

It was short, but it got the point across, but even still she hesitated for a few moments before she finally pressed send. The notification popped up that it had been delivered and she sighed, leaning back to wait. It didn't take very long for her to get a reply, and she took a deep breath as she checked it.

Can't, or won't? -M was all it said, and the girl narrowed her eyes, quickly tying out another fast reply.

Won't. She bit her lower lip as she hit send. Nell gave her a curious look and patted her leg.

The next reply took a bit longer to come, but when it did, Katie couldn't help but smirk as she read it. Fair enough. Proceed to Veilstone City. -M The girl chuckled as she put her phone away, scooping the Buneary into her arms. "I guess it pays to tell the truth sometimes, even to bad guys," she murmured, nuzzling the rabbit's velvety soft fur.

Ben was sitting and waiting for quite a while before he finally saw what he was waiting for - a broad rimmed hat and a large net poking up over the bushes. Grinning, Ben called out to the trainer he knew was there. "Wade! Hey, over here!" The hat moved and the bug-catcher's face was revealed, grinning when he saw who it was. "Hey, it's you! I thought you'd up and left! Hey, are you here for another battle? Don't think you can win that easy!" Ben chuckled and grinned, nodding and pulling a Pokeball from his waist. "Let's do it!"

After both trainers got set up, it was time to start. First up, Wade sent out his Caterpie, the tiny bug crawling around on the ground in front of its master. 'Just like last time,' Ben thought, sure of what he was going to do this time. Tossing his Pokeball into the air, he grinned confidently as his Pichu appeared, clenching his tiny fists with sparks in his cheeks. 'Even Pichu knows he's getting stronger,' Ben thought with a sparkle of pride in his eye. "Alright, Pichu, kick it off with your Charm!" At his command, the yellow Pokemon giggled and started dancing around his opponent cutely, waggling his hips and swishing his tail back and forth, inviting the little bug to join in - which is starting to work as the worm wiggles its body a little, seeming to have fun.

Wade growls a little, clenching his fists and trying to regain control. "Hey, Caterpie! No dancing, this is a fight! Use your Tackle!" In the time it takes for Caterpie to look around at its trainer, Ben calls his next attack. "Pichu! Give it a Tail Whip!" As the Caterpie recovers and starts to ready for its attack, Pichu gives a spin and smacks the little bug to the ground, its body squirming back up and looking a little bit sad. Shaking his head and grinning, Ben commands another attack. "Thundershock!" As Ben calls it, Wade also issues a command at his Caterpie. "Caterpie, use String Shot!" Now it was just a matter of speed. As the sticky material shot out at him, Pichu looses a jolt of electricity that shocks the bug painfully, cutting its attack short. Ben took the opportunity. "Quick, while it's still recovering! Shock it again!" Wade clenched his jaw, trying to think quickly. "Caterpie, try to evade it! Crawl away!" Pichu's electricity was loosed again, the bug's feeble attempts to wriggle away not enough to save it, the shock coursing through its body again and leaving it helpless. Sighing out in disappointment, Wade withdraws his Caterpie. "Good try, Caterpie.."

Grinning, Ben draws back his Pichu while he fishes for his next Pokeball, ready for the Metapod he knew was coming. Wade takes a step back, grabbing up his second ball and eying Ben with a hidden smirk. "You wanted a battle? Well, I bet you weren't prepared for this... Come out! Butterfree!" Ben's jaw dropped as he saw the newly evolved butterfly pokemon appear before him, flapping its wings slowly in the air. He felt his neck sweat a little. '.. Oh boy..'. Nodding and steeling his nerves, he called out his second Pokemon. "Let's do it, Pidgey!"

As Crenu listened to Riza's voice through the phone, he smoked away eyeing the people that came in and out of the department store, though he didn't really pay them any attention. His lips curled to a smirk as she commented on his shower, a rather pleasant visual starting to come into focus before it was driven away like a plague victim by the mention of his arms. Of course, how could she forget? Those icky scratchy bloody bandages. What was she thinking when he held her the night before? What must have gone through her mind when instead of feeling the personal touch of another person, his hugs were those of a bandaged freak? Something sub human. Did she like holding his hand? His embrace? When he pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, what about whiping a tear from her cheek? Well, he hadn't had to do that yet but it didnt' mean he would have to. He didn't really think about it before, he didn't care. But now that he was in a personal situation with someone...how could he be personal with anyone wen he couldn't even really touch them? That must have been what she was thinking about the whole time... Crenu realized he'd been in his thoughts too long, as her voice had stopped and there was just silence. His cigarette had burned down to his fingers, and the bandages between his fingers was starting to melt away and burn, but it hadn't gone through yet. He just cursed as he wiped the embers on his pants before they could actually catch fire. "What? Poliwhirl?" Her asking about the tadpole pokemon was all he's managed to really recall as he searched his thoughts for what to say, how could he zone out with her right there on the phone? "He's still out of commission. I got the invoice in my email today. He's been treated for a broken hand, he'll be fine but he can't really do much for a while. Pokemon heal remarkably fast with modern medecin, but it'll still be at least a week. It was a relatively small fracture. He's still at the center for now, I don't think he can heal inside the pc storage system but I don't have anywhere to send him. I'll deal with that later though, he can stay at the center for a little while longer while I sort this out." It was a problem he had to find a solution to relatively quickly. His mother was in no condition to watch his pokemon for him, not that he wanted her to anyway. He'd have felt better leaving them at the center back home, with Ayane's aunt but...he wasn't one to ask favors for one thing. Especially not now considering he had chosen not to attend her funeral. Just then, Crenu remembered he never adressed the raven beautie's first question. "And my arms are fine, forget about them." Since he was no longer smoking, Crenu entered the depatment store, ignoring the trainer floors and instead heading straight for the clothing department. "Decided to get some new clothes so you'd stop bugging me about it. Still wanna train on your own or do you wanna meet up at some point?"

+++++++++++++++++++

The brush bent and crunched under her paws, but it was very subtle and could have been mistaken for the wind. Arcanine is a very majestic creature, and those big paws can be surprisingly light. She followed her sniffer as best she could, not a bad hound for such a thing but to be really effective she'd have needed a real scent to go off of. Mostly we were following Mismagius, her body was bright with her purple glow as she flaoted in front of us, eyes closed as she reached out to feel with her mind and soul. Ghosts can feel the presence of super natural activity, especiall the stronger ones. Now don't get me wrong, Mismagius isn't queen spook out here but she's been around the block once or twice, so she's capable. There's a lot more ghostly activity in the Old Chateau see? Ghost pokemon are drawn to it, as they are to all places of that nature, strange things happen there. A curious guy like Jae, with trainer spirit running strong withing, why it's a man's romance to check out a place like that. Still, the odds of him stumbbling opon it weren't that high but I had to check anyway. Mismagisu tapping into the aether, trying to locate the old building, by the way she glew I knew she was on to it. As The three of us trotted through the woods towards what I hoped was the place, none of us expected to see what we saw waiting before us...

Ken got off of his Arcanine and stood there, in the edge of the clearing where the forest was starting to overgrow, staring at a young man staring intently at a grave stone. Floating by him was a curious little pokemon. To avoid any shock of trouble, Ken recalled his pokemon, turning his coat coller up he then stuffed his hands in his pockets and approached. There was a really really strange looking pokemon he'd never seen before floating by the iron gates of the cemetary, and Ken met's it's gaze as he walked past it, showing it's glaring eye his empty hands hoping this silent sentry wouldn't think ill of him. "There was a fire here, long ago." He said as he approached the boy, his silloette, his hair, it was unmistakable. But Ken kept his gaze up towards the house. "A real tragety. Must have been some thirty years ago, maybe longer, no one really knows. You won't find anything about it in the papers, the archives aren't reliable. No one kept their records well, who'd have thought that current events would ever be important in the future right? It's mostly rumors and hearsay. Urban legends, exaggerations, and bold lies. But anyone who cares to look deep enough, to wade through the distortions and match plausible evidence can piece together the vague truth. A little girl lived here with her family once, and she had a little friend. Perculiar thing, liked to play with electronics and cause mischief, never malevolent though, they had a lot of fun together. But electricity isn't a toy. It's a volatile force of nature, and so is fire. Funny thing about electricity and fire. They tend to go hand in hand those two. And once let loose, it's hard to stop. Really the only thing you can do once the flame has taken on a strong life of it's own is to let it burn itself out...and clean up after it. Maybe it was a prank gone wrong. Maybe it's because appliances in the past weren't built like they are today, with multiple fail safes to prevent a catastrofic short circuit. Maybe the gods of this land just willed it to be so. Who can say? But we can gather this much. That day, all those years ago, when a little girl was playing with her peculiar pokemon friend, there was an accident. A spark ignited an inferno, a house went down in flames, and a young soul was taken from this world. But she didn't really leave, she stayed behind. Haunting the very halls she once called home, or maybe just playing like she used to hoping to regain the life she lost. That's the general story of The Old Chateau, at least one of the less absurd ones. But you know how it is with these urban legends, probaly isn't true. What do you think?" Ken stood by the young man, hands in his pockets again, his gaze moving to the electric/ghost, then to him.

Ben wondered if Wade knew what to do with that newly evolved Butterfree he was using. 'Probably,' he thought. 'He spends all his time around bugs, he's probably an expert.' Ben, on the other hand, didn't know exactly what he could expect. Still, he was going to try his best. Wade wasted no time in calling his first attack. "Butterfree, use Confusion!" Ben looked up as the Butterfree's eyes started to glow slightly. He had never seen this attack before.. was it visual, or physical? He had to think fast. "Pidgey, use your Sand Attack to blind it!" Pidgey quickly flaps up a wall of sand at the foe, it's wings fluttering a bit as it sinks slightly. 'Still too difficult to Tackle', Ben thought. But not for Wade. "Butterfree, Tackle it!" Butterfree starts charging through the sand, trying to locate Pidgey on the ground.

Without warning, Pidgey is struck by the blow, letting out a cry to Ben's chagrin. "Aw, man! Pidgey, recover! Blast it with another Sand Attack, full power!" He saw the way the sand had weighted down the butterfly pokemon before, and he thought if he tried again, he might be able to lower it to the ground. Pidgey ruffles up its feathers and starts flapping powerfully, kicking up the sand as before, but with even stronger gusts of wind in its wake. Ben's eyes widened. 'Whoa,' he thought. 'Pidgey's never kicked up this much wind before..' And suddenly, he knew. Pidgey was starting to use its Gust attack! 'Perfect!' Ben thought as he grinned and shouted. "Pidgey, give it your Gust attack! Keep on flapping as strong as you can! Knock it down!" Pidgey squawked and kept on flapping, the sand giving way to a powerful gust of wind that tangled up Butterfree's wings and sent it thudding onto the ground with a shout of triumph from Ben.

But Wade wasn't finished. "Butterfree, get up! Use your Confusion!" Butterfree rose up slowly, still a bit disoriented from being knocked to the ground. Sure enough, its eyes began to take on that eerie glow again, sending off waves of energy that Ben couldn't sense, but it was obviously doing something to Pidgey. He started moving strangely, the waves seeming to confuse him. Ben couldn't let that happen. "Quick, Pidgey, use your Tackle! Finish it off!" Pidgey heard Ben's voice, but it was struggling to make its body comply. Stumbling up, he focused his eyes on the Butterfree, running at full speed and slamming into the bug before rolling across the ground, himself. 'This is bad,' Ben thought as he bit his lip. 'I can't use focused attacks too much, or Pidgey might really hurt himself.' Ben got even more desperate when Wade called yet another attack. "Confusion, Butterfree! Hit it again!" Quickly, Ben did the only thing he knew he could. "Pidgey, give it a Gust attack!" As Butterfree's eyes started the intimidating glow once more, Pidgey started blasting it with powerful gusts, breaking its concentration as it was knocked and blasted away by the wind, toppling in a crumpled pile on the ground.. its wings twitching weakly before it stops moving entirely. He won!

Wade couldn't believe what had happened. As his prize bug pokemon was knocked out, he gave a cry of defeat and grabbed his hair. "Dang it! I thought I had that one in the bag!" Grinning, Ben called back his Pidgey and laughed a little sheepishly, but still triumphant. "Hey, it was a tough fight! You really trained your Buttefree well." Smiling, Ben looked down to Pidgey's Pokeball. "You did really great, too, Pidgey. I'm super proud of you."Walking over to Wade, Ben smiled and shook his hand. "Thanks for the match. And thanks for being such a tough opponent. We should both get to the PokeCenter now." Departing Route 31 for what Ben had a feeling was the last time, he made his way back into Violet City to rest himself and his Pokemon. 'Not too much longer,' he thought, 'And I'll be ready to take on Falkner.'

Mikallen

PostPosted: Fri Apr 12, 2013 3:07 pm

As usual, Kasiya's words soothed him to his very core. While most would (rightfully) be sprinting down the mountain at his literal meltdown, she instead scooted closer and comforted him with wisdom and kindness.

You could probably murder someone right in front of her and she would find a way to justify it. The doubtful phantom from before spoke up, once again smacked by the one closest to him.

Do you ever have any good ideas?

Mike felt his heart race in an entirely different manner as Kasiya kissed him. "I'd like that very much, actually." he said in response to her offer. "If it's all the same to you, I'd like to stick around, too." He looked at the orb in his hands and let out an irritated groan, like a child when told to clean his room. "Ugghh," he complained, flopping over Kasiya's lap. "Keegan doesn't know how lucky he is to even have a dad to beat in a battle. This stupid thing killed mine." Mike said the last sentence in such an inappropriately casual tone it gave him pause as the force behind the statement fully sunk in. "I mean..." he corrected himself, this time his voice appropriately more subdued. "I killed my dad." He stared deeply into the orb as if it were a screen replaying the events of that night.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 13, 2013 12:28 pm

The girl smiled again. "I wouldn't have it any other way." She shifted a little as Mike flopped over into her lap, her smile fading into a look of surprise. She wasn't so sure she considered Keegan "lucky", as the few times she'd met the man, he'd managed to scare the daylights out of her with so much as a glance. The casual manner in which he'd spoken only added to the shock of his statement, and Kasiya bit her lip, admittedly a bit unsure of how to respond. She felt him tense up, his next words piercing her heart like an arrow. Now that she'd thought of it, Mike had never mentioned his father before, not even in passing. And it wasn't like he had ample opportunity to do so either, but considering what he'd just said, she could understand why.

She'd also suddenly started to feel an immense longing for her own father, all the way back in Vermilion City, and she made a mental promise to herself to visit him (and her mom, too!) the next time she was in Kanto.

The blonde gave a quiet sigh as she gently stroked his hair, her gaze falling upon the nearby altar. "Did you want to tell me about it?" she urged softly, looking down at him again as he stared at the orb. "Or him?" She felt that he was making quite a lot of progress as he revisited places and memories that weren't easy for him. And though she was sure he still had a ways to go, she also felt the need to give him little pushes along the way. "You don't have to if you don't want to," she added, giving him a little squeeze of reassurance.

Sigilyph had been floating by the entrance to the small graveyard, both to maintain a constant watch around them and out of a curious respect for the deceased. The Avianoid Pokemon also was not a big fan of Ghost-types in general, and though he sensed nothing more than an innocent-yet-mischievous demeanor from the Rotom, he chose to keep his distance. The Psychic/Flying-type did turn when he sensed a new presence enter the area, single eye fixed in a rather neutral glare. Again, he sensed no malevolence so he allowed the stranger passage, in fact getting the feeling that this man was here with purpose.

The sudden voice behind him caused both Jake and the Rotom to startle, and the blonde whipped around, putting himself between the interloper and Sparky, if anything to give the Rotom a sense of security. Jake had opened his mouth to demand the guy's name, but he was looking up at the dilapidated house and had continued speaking, almost as if he was some kind of tour guide. His voice was also quite familiar, but he was all dressed down like some sort of detective, and Jake didn't get a good view of his face right away. He listened quietly to the story, looking from Rotom back up to the house again. Everything the man was saying seemed to ring true, as he'd not only seen but interacted with the spirit of the little girl. He suddenly became aware of the little plush bear he still held in his arms. Not caring what the stranger thought of him, he gave it a bit of a squeeze before he set it down, leaning it against the tiny headstone. Rotom made a quiet humming noise before it drifted back to Jake, looking as though it had perched on his shoulder. The youth stood back, his expression humble as he thought of everything he'd been through since waking up on that beach days and days ago.

"The only ones that would know for sure are here," he said, gesturing to the other tombstones that were scattered around the area. As interesting as his little adventure had been inside the Old Chateau, he didn't feel overly comfortable sharing it with some stranger, regardless of how familiar he seemed to be. "Just who are you, anyway?" he asked, sticking a hand into his pocket. "And how do you know so much about this place?"

Karrigan had always been a fairly sound sleeper and she slept well, waking up bright and early and before most of the other people on the ship, save for the crew, of course. She dressed and brushed out her hair, finding that her hand was a lot less sore today than it was even yesterday, and it had scabbed over quite well. She could probably go without a bandage, but she decided to put one one anyway, if anything to keep people from asking her questions about it. Figuring she wasn't likely to return to the room today she packed up all of her things, careful to make sure she wasn't forgetting anything before she headed down to get something for breakfast.

She fed her party as best she could, as only her poor Onix would have to go without for now but she could feed him later, once they'd made port in this Castelia City place. She did know they wouldn't be arriving for quite some time so she headed down to the arena where she and Damien had battled yesterday. Her brow furrowed as she mulled over the match in her head, thinking about Amber's and Ikouma's performances. Naturally, she was content with her Sneasel's abilities, but Amber's obedience could use work, and she also wanted to keep training with little Naga, as the Cubchoo couldn't sit on the sidelines forever. Karrigan also let Lennier and Ikouma out of their Pokeballs again, figuring that Calliope would be happier when they were on land as well, and she smiled a bit as she watched her four Pokemon. After letting them mingle a bit she would start them on some training exercises, Naga especially.

Jasper was really starting to get a good feeling about this gym battle as he watched Croconaw chomp down on the Spearow, but the little flying type didn't appear to want to stay that way as suddenly it was pecking violently at Croconaw's neck, leaving discoloured welts with every strike it made. Croconaw gave a cry and released her prey, once again flailing her arms as though it would make the pain go away.

"We've got 'em now," Jasper grinned, making a fist, though he hadn't not noticed Croconaw's distress. "Hit 'em hard with another Water Gun," the bandanna-clad trainer called. Perhaps they could finish this with one shot. Croconaw shook herself a final time and faced the Spearow, her cheeks bulging before she fired another blast of water at the infuriating little bird.

As Hayley reentered the lobby, she quickly noticed that Riza was still on the phone, and wanting to be polite, continued to give her space. Eavesdropping wasn't polite, after all. That didn't mean that the brunette couldn't be curious as to just who Riza was talking to - her mama? Best friend, perhaps? Or maybe her boyfriend, ooh! The brunette's mind buzzed with possibilities as she found herself a place to sit down. She wasn't so sure what she was going to do now, however.

Hayley could very well rush out and head right for the gym, but that somehow seemed rude. Besides, she was curious about her new friend and wanted to know more about her - where she was from, what kinds of Pokemon she had with her. The brunette pulled out her sketchbook and flipped through the pages, admiring her handiwork as she did so. She was by no means egotistic about her sketches, but she knew she was good, but she frowned when she got to the partially-finished sketch of Odin, Kressen's Pawniard. She'd finish it the next time she saw the little steel type, but for now, she was content to start out on a rough sketch of Ivy - she liked to test herself on how well she could remember the little details of Pokemon by memory alone.

Mike's entire body jolted up at Kasiya's curiosity, snapping his attention away from the orb. No no, we know it will only leads to sadness, just let him have this one moment. "Oh my dad. My dad!" Mike said ecstatically. His eyes were positively radiant with wonder as he spoke, like a kid talking about his favorite superhero. "Kass you-you would have loved him! He was nice, super smart, and such a great trainer! He had all the badges, and he even came close to placing first in the League!" He had placed 6th, but that was close, right? "And he used fire Pokemon, too!" That detail was of particular importance, for obvious reasons. "He is-was actually the reason that I love them so much." Shock. "He had this Magmar, and this crazy-strong Torkoal. I swear, not even ten Hariyama could crack that thing's shell. Oh! Oh! His first Pokemon was a Charmander, too, ya know! And that Charizard. Man, you think The Dame was big. Cameron? He was-man, he was huge! Not like, fat huge but like, HUGE huge." He threw his arms out in all directions, trying his best to give a visual with his tiny wingspan. His gaze jerked down to the Pokeballs on his belt as if he'd forgotten something important. "Nitro was actually his gift to me. I'd been saying how much I wanted one for so long that he asked Mr. Summers to breed one just for me. He was going to surprise me with him on my...birthday..."

Annnnd boom. Just like that Mike's previous enthusiasm quite literally fizzled out, and he shifted awkwardly in place as the fact that everything he had just said was history kicked him in the side of the head. "Well." he said, notably embarrassed at his earlier rant. "Anyway. Mom told me that when dad heard about the commotion in Lilycove, that he didn't hesitate to leap into action. Just like him. You can...see where I get it from." Mike shook his head, biting his bottom lip and trying not to smile in self-mockery. "He took his best Pokemon and flew to Sky Pillar. He'd read legends of an ancient Pokemon that had stopped Groudon and Kyogre in the past. Not long after he left, that Pokemon showed up and scared them off, but my dad never came back." Mike's lip twitched. "It's wasn't like him to just disappear. There's no other explanation. My dad would have fist fought them both himself to save me. There isn't anything but death that would keep him from coming back. Maybe Rayquaza killed him. Maybe there was a price for waking him. Maybe he fell. Whatever happened, he's dead. He's dead because of me and he never even knew." The boy looked up at the phantoms that loomed over him, scanning the crowd like a lost little boy in a mall full of strangers.

"So which one of you is he?" he asked them. "Which one of you is my dad?"

Riza frowned slightly as she listened to the update on Poliwhirl, still feeling a little guilty that it had been her then-Sneasel that had broken his hand to begin with. She wanted to apologize but she was pretty sure Crenu wouldn't allow it, telling her it was part of battling and all that and that apologies were for the weak. She also had no intentions of forgetting about the wounds on his arms, but she kept that to herself. His moods seemed very erratic lately and she didn't want to chance setting him off again.

She did smirk a bit at the mention of him getting new clothes, however. "Nothing against your fashion sense, but really, rags are for hobos," she said, glancing down to study the nails of her free hand as she spoke. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Hayley come back into the room, now fully dressed in what Riza thought was a very cute outfit. 'Speaking of fashion sense,' she thought, smiling lightly as she thought of ways to add to it. When the brunette looked her way she gave a small wave. "I guess that would be up to you," she said, shrugging. "I'm about to go challenge the gym leader here, but I might have to wait a bit. My new friend might want to challenge him as well."

Katie found herself wishing she had a bike as she started to walk up north again, this time keeping her senses alert as she watched the grass for any would be attacking Scyther. She was sure that last one would think twice about jumping her again, and she let out a little squeal of glee as she thought of the powerful Electabuzz she now had on her side. Sure, a part of her was a little sad that her cute little Elekid had evolved, but she was one step closer to having an Electivire now. All she'd need to find was an Electirizer, and she was pretty sure they sold those at the Department Store in Veilstone City.

It was well past lunch time by the time Katie finally stopped, having had no encounters with angry wild Pokemon or trainers itching to do battle. Her stomach was rumbling from hunger and she realized she hadn't packed much for food as she paused at the top of a grassy hill. Off in the distance she could see a small building, and she squinted, trying to figure out what it was. The sign was a bit too far away to read so she would have to get closer. "Oh!" she exclaimed once she had done just that. "It's one of those Milk Maid Cafes!" The chain of little cafes was pretty popular across the Sinnoh region, both for the fact that they served the specialty drink MooMoo Milk and for the fact that all their outlets had cute girls in maid outfits serving them.

Katie had never been too fond of MooMoo Milk as a small child, but her empty stomach's growling protests told her that beggars could not be choosers. She knew they'd be good to her Pokemon too so she practically ran up to the front doors, hoping they would be open.

Mike's smile quickly became infectious as he started talking about his dad, and Kasiya wasn't sure she'd ever seen such a level of adoration in a person's eyes before. Now Kasiya adored her dad, she really and truly did, but she had a feeling that if there was a competition, Mike would win it hands down, fair and square. She could also see the fearsome Pokemon being described, and it was no wonder that Mike had raised some of those very-same species himself. The apple never did fall far from the tree when it came to her friends, as it was quite obvious where Mike got his love of Fire-types from, and the same for Keegan. It was a little more than obvious where Kasiya got her appreciation for Electric-types. "He sounds amazing," she commented quietly, wishing with all her heart that she could have met the man, but she didn't say that out loud, as the conversation had already taken a heartbreaking turn, and she didn't feel the need to add to it.

The blonde could do nothing but nod silently as Mike continued his story, managing a half-hearted smile as he mentioned his dad's tendency to jump into action - it definitely sounded familiar. The story became harder and harder to listen to, and tears were freely streaming down Kasiya's cheeks now and she sniffled, wiping them away with the back of her hand. She really didn't know what to say now, so she stayed quiet, instead she wrapped her arms around him and now wishing that she could take away all his hurt with just her embrace. She looked up when Mike asked a question, though her confusion was apparent when she quickly realized it wasn't directed at her. She wiped her eyes again and looked around at the fog surrounding them. "Who... are you talking to?" she asked, more than a little afraid to hear the answer.

"Oh you know," Mike said, his voice quivering as he tried (and failed) to maintain his composure inside Kasiya's grip. "Just the endless sea of the dead that took Milo's place after they ripped him to pieces." he flicked his hand in the direction of the phantoms. "The usual." The shadows in question tilted their heads at the gesture. "I mean-haha, it's not enough that I'm a criminal mutant, but on top of it all, why not add being haunted to the mix?" He frowned, burying his face in Kasiya's sleeve and letting out a muffled scream.

Aren't you here for a reason? one ghost spoke up, timidly raising a finger. Mike nodded, further wrinkling Kasiya's clothes before looking up at her.

"I am. Hey. I came here to put the orb back." Once again he pulled out the glowing red jewel. "I figure it's better to put it back where it was rather than for me to hold onto it. Natural order and all that jazz." He stood up, helping Kasiya to her feet. "What'dya say? Wanna help me hopefully fix all this mess?" A slight smile returned to his lips. After all, he couldn't think of a better person to ask. Mike took one more look at the orb before making his way down the path to the alter.

"Yeah yeah, I get it. I'll get something...nice. Whatever that means." He was already lost, clothes shopping wasn't really on his list of priorities. A chill went down his spine as he thought what Ken might do to him if he were here, the last thing Crenu wanted was to dress like a glittering baffoon. Riza seemed rather fashion savy, and while he admitted she always managed to look very nice and he liked it, he never really put too much thought into what he wore himself. Though as she put it, it wasn't really about the style of his clothes rather than the condition. He wasn't exactly careful with himself and after what had been happening lately his outfits were rather worn out. He was a little dissapointed in her reasonse though, frowning a bit as he walked through the isles of clothes not particularly impressed with what he saw. "Oh." He was kind of hoping she'd want to see him again and thought maybe she was looking forward to it. But her rather lack luster answer left him feeling like she didn't really care. "Sounds like you've got a busy day planned. If your friend challenges first you should try and pick up on the leader's battle style to give you an edge. Though you're on a roll lately, I'm sure you'll do fine. I'll let you get back to it then, your friend must be waiting. I'll see you later."

"I suppose you're right. Dead men tell no tales, or so they say. Gotta admire the mistery though." Ken kept his hands in his pockets as he looked at Jae, it was really hard not to show the excitement he felt, but he had to stay in character. Wearing this get up was one thing, but the whole reason behind it was to keep his identity a secret until Jae's memory returned. Come to think of it, Ken wasn't even supposed to show himself to Jae but he was so caught up in the moment he had forgotten until now. "Me? I'm just a traveler who loves a good story. When I hear something interesting and mysterious, I just can't help but try and get to the bottom of it. I visited that old house myself to get some answers on one of my first trips to Sinnoh actually, didn't find anything though. Scared the heck outta my pokemon though, maybe they saw something I didn't." He said with a chuckle as he pulled his hand from his pocket and extended it. "Didn't mean to startle you. Names Kevin. I saw you in front of the grave and it just made me think of the time I spent here investigating, kinda went on auto pilot. I hope you don't think me a show off." It was to late to stay hidden now, but that didn't mean Ken couldn't stay anonymous, to a degree.

By some miracle Kressen got the Krabby off and onto the sands before it could remove a piece of his buttocks. It not stood there clacking its claws ready for a fight. Foam bubbled at its mouth as water lapped at its legs. That was the only thing keeping Gigas away from the Krabby that attacked its trainer. He hated water with a passion since he was a fire type. "It's okay Gigas, I know you can't stand water. Odin get out here!"

The dark/steel type gave a nod and started to run towards its trainer when Mateus let loose a string shot at Odin to use it as an Anchor to propel itself forward. Nothing abused her trainer except her! It flew over the startled Pawniard and landed with a soft thud in front of its trainer vibrating in rage.

Blinking Kressen shrugged. The metapod needed some battle experience anyways. "Alright then start things off with Harden so he can't hurt you!" Irked, but seeing the point in the move Mateus did just that. Its shell glowed for a moment then stopped. Just in time to for the Krabby gave a cry before it took off like a rocket at the Metapod. "It's so fast!" In a moment the Krabby struck the Metapod with vicegrip doing little damage, but the speed of the attack was unnerving. This was going to be an irksome battle.
