WoefulInfinity Yeah, she was probably mistaken because of the different skin colorings... since, uhm, it's damned hard to CG fur. XD; And the horns add to it. Pretty sure you could explain it to the artist if you wanted. Anthro mainly poses a problem for me when it's got a muzzle. Then, it's hit or miss. Turns out when she said "anthro" she meant "anything that isn't a plain ol' human", but she wanted to take the commission anyway becacuse Gwyn has cute hair. whee

i hate people who draw really well, but when you receive the art, you see the artist did it fast, and without application to the draw... (bad english suck xd )

(bad english suck xd ) Oh I know what you mean xd That's another reason why I like my request thread and doing contests... I think the art turns out better when the artist is INTERESTED in the characters and hopefully inspired. Not that I don't like to commission to, but then the art can become more of a duty and burden at times to the artist (as one myself I know how this feels xd Especially if it's not and outfit or character design I'm crazy about)

It sucks because usually i'm so excited about the commission and then it's obvious that they didn't really try/feel an affinity with the character. I'd rather have the person cancel then just dissapoint me. Most of the artist's i've commissioned have done wonderfully though.

Yeah, I've had those that have suprised me and exceeded my expectations heart I try to tip them if they weren't charging a lot.
You know.. I wish the bank had an easy way to add a tip! That would be so convenient and easy...

I'm sure this question has been asked before somewhere in this guild, but my short investigation hasn't led to too much ...
Anyway, I'm curious about character design, in particular where people get their ideas for the clothing/weapons/accessories etc. their OCs wear/carry. I know some people have avatar-influenced OCs, but since I've looked through the galleries of members I've wondered where the rest of it comes from.
Anyone who would oblige me with this information is marvellous, of course (; I've just seen a lot of your characters around here and dA and am very curious.

Quote: If it matters any since Mek isn't very unique but I got mek's design from various influences. Her hair color and "I'm too sexy for everyone" posture (which isn't apparant in everything I've commissioned) is based on Jessica Rabbit. I wanted it long because of Sailor Moon influences of many years. Then I had an idea for a commission and in my mind's eye she had curly hair and I liked it so much that I semi stuck with it. Then Jaded took it to a whole new level and it was perfect. Her wings are from a very detailed background that not many people besides myself and my original roleplay buddies know of. Jaded also came up with Mek's signiture outfit before that, and before her storyline brought her into the modeling world, she was wearing designs based off of things I used to create with a very large bathtowel (with a few additions in my descriptions that wouldn't be possible to make with only a towel) when I was bored XD and a bit of artistic license taken by the lovely Sue-chan (first Mekania picture ever commissioned, btw). Her dagger is based off one of the ones I used to own (that I broke...and wasn't curvy). This sword was an artistic liberty (I said either draw a long sword or her curvy dagger) that I fell in love with though I've never had a commission idea that would include it. Her whip is because...well. Mek is a blatantly sexual character so there you go. Her scythe and this new outfit was something I created because I felt she needed to be far more dangerous than she had been. She had hit a bit of a rough patch in her storyline and went a little destruction happy. So she got a new outfit to match! Complete with skull adornments and everything. But very few people got even close to what I was trying to design with her costume so I gave up on it. (and she also became a model and got over that rough patch- I still plan on commissioning a full blow commission of her in the middle of destroying a village or something similar). The long dresses seen in a my commissions (especially when she's with Tanek/the kir-tat pieces) are because she is essentially demonic royalty. And then she has two other forms but wow I think I've said waaaaaaaay more than anyone ever cared to know about her XD I've also got way too much time on my hands.

Mekania I've also got way too much time on my hands. Fortunately for me, because that's an excellent story. Mekania was actually the first character from a member of this guild I saw before I really knew whatGaia was. Along with Zephyree's OC she's probably the one I've seen around most, too, so I've always been a little bit curious about her (; Anyway, I really like Jaded's versions of Mekania - she really does come off with that Jessica Rabbit feel in them. I'm also curious how a bath towel can be manipulated into any of Mekania's clothing designs, but I suppose that's one of the mysteries of the universe (:

I've been designing clothing out of bath towels since I was little >>; because I always had time inbetween getting out of the tub and waiting for my mom to dry my hair (back then..not now) so I folded them into different sorts of dresses. I honestly have no idea. I embellish them a bit more through text so the outfits aren't straight from the bathtowel stuff xd I don't think I've ever mentioned this to any before.
Aaand, awesome! I'm glad she gets around (*cough*). I mostly commission with real money as well so that's probably why she's seen quite a bit around deviantart ^^ and Jaded's (and Kir-tat's) pieces are the closest to my minds interpretation of those two very different aspects of Mekania's personality. Jaded hits sexy Mek dead on and Kir-tat is able to capture worried/devastated Mek perfectly.
