XX Phoenix tilted her head as the boy uhm-ed and stuttered to happiness, her mental folder ever growing as she catalogued his actions. He seemed pretty nice, decent looking at least, though maybe as seemingly shy as her. The girl held back the desire to slip into soul perception and take a nice long look at his soul as well, deeming it inappropriate due to 'invasion of privacy.'
All thoughts of soul perception drifted away as Phoenix gently clasped his hand in her own, finally adding a name to match the boy's face. It wasn't often she gave her name to complete strangers, but, the boy seemed friendly enough for the girl to trust him enough with her name. "I'm Phoenix, it's very nice to meet you indeed!" The girl gave him a wide smile, her eyes crinkling at the edges.

 ══════════════════════ :.❂ Klaus Mitchell ❂:. ══════════════════════Mood- Happy Health- 100% Form- Human Partner- Phoenix Soul Resonance- N/AKlaus likewise matched his smile to meet hers as they began to shake hands. She seemed nice, though a little on edge for some reason.
"Thank you again," Klaus responded as he let go of her hands and quickly slid them into his pants pockets, "How long have you been at DWMA? I-I don't know if I've seen you around."
Klaus for the life of him couldn't figure out why he was making such terribly awkward small talk. It could have been that she had defended him when he was defenseless. Or maybe it was because she seemed so down to earth. Either way he felt comfortable actually talking to her. Though Phoenix preferred cataloging his every move, Klaus went off pure instinct, instead taking in her physical and emotional queues to get a feel for her personality. Though he liked to think he was Sherlock Holmes when it came to deciphering clues, Klaus in the end could hardly remember Phoenix's dress color, let alone what shoes she was wearing. So while he was able to get a feel for her mood, it was only cosmetic.═════════════════════════════ :.❂ ❂:. ═════════════════════════════

XX With a half step backwards and a slight release of surprise, Phoenix laced her fingers and stretched slightly. The sudden small talk almost taking her off guard. It wasn't like she wasn't enjoying Klaus's presence, more like she wasn't quite sure how to do the whole small talk thing. Still, the girl decided to give it a shot; considering the guy seemed just as... skittish as she was. Slowly, carefully, Phoenix opened her mouth to speak, her words clipped short as they just kinda, spurt out.
"Not long, actually, I came here a little later than expected, so I'm both at a loss for what's going on and also, well, people wise, The girl rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, her eyes focusing on the ground. She didn't mean to say that much! 'Quick, point it back at him!' Phoenix internally nodded, looking up and half-smiling. "How long have you been here?"

Midnas Lament I'm sorry for the delay! I JUST got your notice today... wonder why Gaia did that crying ══════════════════════ :.❂ Klaus Mitchell ❂:. ══════════════════════Mood- Spacey Health- 100% Form- Human Partner- Phoenix Soul Resonance- N/APeople wise? Did that mean she was some sort of social pariah? She didn't SEEM to be out of the ordinary, other than her thick accent. I wonder where she's from... that accent has to be European... maybe Italian? Klaus thought as his eyes followed Phoenix's hand back to her head, But that's not all that strange, I've already met a few people from around the world. I wonder what it's like over there... or what it's like moving to a completely different country for school. I don't think I'd be able to do it, but maybe--
It wasn't until the awkward silence settled in that he realised he'd been asked a question. The teen quickly began to wring his hands nervously out of habit as he did his best to form identifiable words. "S-sorry! Sorry! Uhm... I've been here for a few months... I had a partner when I started, but he kind of," Klaus said, though quickly froze. Should he REALLY be telling all of this to someone he just met? Probably not, however she seemed really nice. "Well he kind of disappeared. But I hear that happens a lot here... so," Klaus finally finished before he flashed her a sheepish grin.

xx Phoenix's eyes widened to the size of saucers, and she leaned forward, enthralled. Her mouth was suddenly set into a hard line, and before she knew it she became the most insensitive person in the history of everything. "Did they die?" Her tone was entirely serious, almost comically so from the way she was the minute before. Almost immediately, Phoenix realised what she said, and stepped backwards suddenly; bowing profusely.
"I am so sorry, that was very insensitive of me. Ti prego di perdonarmi. My curiosity gets the best of me sometimes," Phoenix barely realised he had slipped into Italian, and instead kept her head bowed; slightly ashamed at her lack of control. 'Fottuto idiota di nuovo' The Meister thought, frowning profusely and slightly ashamed of herself.

However he managed to relax as the girl bowed down in apology, seemingly mumbling in Italian. He'd met blunt people before, and at least she realised she was doing so. It honestly didn't bother him, and he was sure she didn't mean it in a sadistic way. Besides, he could be blunt himself sometimes.
"No, no don't worry about it, seriously it's ok!," Klaus began as he dropped down into a crouch to try and make eye contact with her while she was still bowed, "S-sorry, I'm not sure what you're saying, but no he didn't die... He just.. disappeared. I have no idea where he went but, well it's ok. For whatever reason he couldn't be here, so I understand. What about you? Do you have a partner?" The curly haired boy wasn't trying to pry into her business or anything, but it was clear she had upset herself with her own outburst. As Klaus was the self-proclaimed happiness guru, he took it upon himself to help anyone he felt was down, which prompted him to change the subject as quick as possible to help her feel more at ease.

xx A relieved sigh flew from the girl's lips, her eyes brightening as she stood straight and smiled lightly; glad she hadn't caused him too much trouble. Phoenix quickly apologised again for her Italian, explaining apologetically that it 'slipped out' in conversation sometimes, from habit. The meister's eyes widened as Klaus asked about a partner, and she shook her head, shrugging slightly. "No, it seems like everybody is pretty much partnered up," Phoenix stretched and laughed light-heartedly, the issue of a partner of bare concern to her.
"I'm sure I'll find one eventually, ya? We all do!" Her anger at herself faded into relaxed friendliness, her concern mostly gone of anything but what she was going to have for dinner that night.

"I know what you mean. It's been hard to find someone after my partner left..... But I'm glad that others have been able to find someone!" Klaus responded with a shrug and a smile. He was the kind of guy to be more content with others' happiness than his own. "But you're right!! I'm sure there's someone out there, just waiting," the teen said with a smile before he shouldered his bag. He didn't really have anywhere to be, but he could tell when a conversation was close to an end. It didn't even occur to him to ask whether she was a meister or a weapon.
He kind of stood there awkwardly for a time as he fished for something to say, unsure if the silence was a cue for him to leave or not. "I-I'm sure you'll find the right one. I mean there's lots of time, right? B-but I wanted to thank you..... For helping me out I mean. That was very nice of you! I'm Klaus by the way, Klaus Mitchell."

xx Phoenix just nodded, unsure of what to do next. She didn't really want to leave per say, this was the first real, actual conversation she's had since she'd come to the DWMA, and while it was slightly awkward and spread out; she was still enjoying herself. Which was a first in human company. The Meister even realised that she had stopped cataloging him, and had to stop herself from starting the habit back up again. Instead, Phoenix focused on Klaus while a light wind started up, chilling her considerably as it passed.
Yet, after an awkward minute in both the chill and the silence, finally! Klaus spoke! Phoenix grinned as he introduced himself, pleased with the sound of his name; and she shook her head quickly as he said thanks once again. "No, no, no, no, it was my pleasure, Klaus," Phoenix bowed once more, this time not in shame but in simple custom. "My name is Phoenix Simulacrum, and I am very pleased to meet you!" the girl stood up straight and grinned goofily, her eyes crinkling together at the edges.

Or was she still in front of him, showing no signs of leaving. Maybe he just hadn't met the right people at DWMA yet. "Pleased to meet you as well!," Klaus chirped in response as his hand loosened a tad on his rucksack. He wanted to continue the conversation, but nothing was really coming to mind. Maybe he could ask what food she liked... or who was her favorite death scythe.... but all of those would seem out of context and completely random. The last thing he wanted to do was freak her out and scare her off, though finally a decent, not-off-topic question came to mind.
"If you don't mind me asking... are you a meister or a weapon? I'm a weapon-- well my brothers say I'm not a weapon 'cause I'm a staff and all, but I found out I can heal! So I guess that makes up for not being something cool like a broadsword or twin blades or giant hammer like my brothers," Klaus finished with a sheepish grin. He was sure all the remaining weaponless meisters stayed away for that very reason, which was fine. Since the teen was a rather passive soul, he'd rather wait until he found the right partner who wanted a staff rather than pick some blood-thirsty meister aimed for fame.

xx Phoenix's grin spread as he explained what kind of weapon he was, an actual staff! She could remember all those kung fu movies she'd use to watch where all the bad guys got their butts handed to them by some old widened guy with a staff. Not to mention, Klaus had healing abilities as well which is a HUGE plus. Man this guy keeps getting cooler, She thought, rubbing the back of her head slightly as he kept elaborating on what his brothers could do as well.
"No way man! That's so cool, your Meister could be like POW POW POW," The girl punched the air a couple ones for good measure, suddenly becoming super excited. She turned red though as soon as she realised she actual made sound effects out loud, and quietly responded with a simple "But I'm a Meister," of which she wanted to add 'with totally lame and mostly nonexistent abilities' or 'whose power is only inherited from her lame father.' Silly stuff drilled into her head by her mother that is now a force of habit for Phoenix to think and believe.

He'd only really transformed in front of his brothers and his ex partner, so the feedback he'd gotten was more negative than positive... however his ex partner just so happened to be a staff expert which lead Klaus to believe he had some sort of a bias (and thereby gave the only positive response he'd heard thus far). It also didn't help that while he was quite optimistic about other's situations, he was quite pessimistic about his own. "Really? You think so?," Klaus asked as his eyes widened a tad and a small smile crept up along the edges of his mouth at her sound effects. AND she was a meister too? Maybe.... no, he couldn't be so upfront with someone he'd just met... could he?
"Would you like to see? I mean it's nothing special..." the teen asked hesitantly as he put forth a shaky hand for her to take. He was a bit nervous at putting himself out there, and the overwhelming worry that he'd made the wrong move deepened with every second that ticked by. What if she rejected him? Man that would be so embarrassing.

It sounds really cool, honestly," The girl spoke with confidence, she herself putting up a front to hide how nervous she was. After all, it would be the first time she's ever even held a weapon, ever, and she wasn't even sure that she had Meister ability past seeing souls.
Still, she wanted to try her best! Especially since, well, she wanted to prove her mother wrong; also, staffs were cool. Gently, Phoenix took his hand, a smile gracing her face as she did so. Non avvitare, non avvitare, non avvitare, non avvitare, non avvitare, non avvitare, non avvitare, She almost chanted to herself in her head, repeating the phrase over and over again.

He honestly hadn't been more terrified in his life, offering his hand up like. With a large grin towards Phoenix, the teen dropped his rucksack before his form stretched and deformed, glowing a blinding white light before his staff form came to nestle comfortably in the palm of her hand. He was kind of silent for a few moments, his stomach still a flutter with nervous butterflies, before his human form reflected in the crystal blue ball at the top of his staff form.
"Ah so.. yeah, this is it I'm afraid... Like I said it's nothing really impressive," Klaus slowly said as his eyes wandered down towards the ground. Maybe she thought it was cool before he transformed, but he was sure once she saw his plain nature she might change her mind.
