Earendil smiled sheepishly. "I know I should," he murmured softly, "but I just don't feel like I'm ready to sleep."

He leaned down and kissed Lin on the forehead. "You though should sleep. Good night, Lin. I shall see you in the morning."

The next morning, Earendil went off with Aerin, Caranthir, Shea, Mikhail, and Alena leaving Lin and Miyuki to their own devices. Earendil hoped that Lin would find someone to spend some time with, or find something to do, and that Miyuki would be fine without him for a few hours; but while he wasn't too worried about Lin, he was quite worried about Miyuki.

Aurin was also walking down the hall, only steps behind them, and he couldn't help but smile as he listened to the conversation between Miyuki and Lin. Miyuki was obviously very attached to Earendil, and he thought that it was cute.

"Besides," he added, unable to stop himself from joining in with their conversation, "I am quite sure, Miyuki, that you would be quite bored if you were with your ada today. He will only be talking about things that you will not understand or care about."

Taxes and economy and propriety and so on ... no, Miyuki would be quite bored, he was certain.

Aurin smiled at Miyuki. "This is the reason why you all came out here," he explained patiently. "Earendil-sola is teaching Queen Aerin how to run her country prosperously for all. He may not find it boring, Miyuki, even though you would. And even if it were boring for him, it is important for the country."

His smile grew warm, his green eyes sparkling brightly. "You may be proud of your father, Miyuki. Without his help, this nation would remain as crippled as it ever was."

"Just wait until she starts to realize how long it is going to take him, and how long it will keep them apart," Aurin replied quietly. "It may not be so easy then."

He smiled then. "And how will you fill your time?" he asked Lin. "This is the first time I have seen you without Earendil."

"That does sound like a marvelous idea," Aurin smiled. "I would offer to accompany you, but as things are, I do not want to leave Rhea for too long. She tells me that her time will not come until next week, in all likelihood, but you can't know with babies. They come when they come. I don't want her to be alone when it happens."

He hesitated. "Still ... perhaps I could find someone else to come with you? Or are you comfortable going alone?"

Aurin smiled. "Lady Alena has gone with Earendil-sola and Queen Aerin and the others, but Sir Elros is here," he nodded. "I can get him for you, he isn't far. Shall I tell him to meet you in the dining hall? Or have you already broken your fast today?"

After all, most of the others had eaten a few hours previous, so he had no idea if Lin had eaten or not.

Aurin nodded. "As you wish. You go on ahead, and I will send him down there soon." He smiled and nodded his head to her. "I hope you enjoy your day."

And as they reached the stair that would lead down to the dining hall, he parted from Lin, heading down the next corridor instead to look for Elros.
