The Piplup, and Turtwig all fell to the ground laughing as they saw that the Ambipom was stuck in the window while the Chimchar just looked on with an unreadable expression on its face. The little fire pokemon did not look to happy at all. Instead of waiting for the others it simply took off into the forest bounding up into the trees and leaving its companions behind.
Stuck in his window Luffy watched with a confused and a little upset look on his face. He was stuck and that wasn't to funny at all! On top of that the monkey had left to, for some reason the lack of laughter from it seemed to hurt. Grunting the Ambipom squeezed his tail hands through and bracing them against the wall he shoved and managed to squeeze his fat body through. Flying out of the window like a greased pig Luffy flew into the forest bouncing around on a few of the branches and accidentally knocked down the Chimchar that was resting on the branches.
Both of the pokemon fell down to the ground with a squack. Luffy laughed as he pushed himself up taking everything in stride, the Chimchar picked himself up and glared at the Ambipom indignation and irritation written clearly on its face.
Seeing that the Chimchar wasn't really laughing Luffy stopped and stared at the other. The Ambipoms big black eyes met with the blue and red lined eyes of the Chimchars. The two stared at each other for a moment before the Chimchar seemed to calm down and snorting it started to walk away into the forest once more.
Luffy watched the other pokemon go for a moment before picking himself up forcing his tired body to chase after the Chimchar. Luffy didn't know what was going on but he knew that he really wanted to follow that Chimchar. There was also the fact that Luffy was lost and the flaming monkey was the only way he would get out of the forest, though the Ambipom wasn't thinking that when he followed the other pokemon.

Now Beacon, just as master taught you: focus your power through the gem on your forehead. You must channel your energy there if you are to have any sort of focused strike. To emphasize his point, the Breloom rose his hands as he spoke, symbolizing the current’s path. If you can master this, your attacks will be precise and less errati-. He paused, noticing the Ampharos had stopped to stare at a flickering cinder on the ground. With a sigh, Portabello walked over and whacked the Pokemon upside the head, causing the confused Beacon to wail in agony. Focus! he scolded.
"Snappy slappy boom BOOM!" Beacon cried, sending out an explosion of electricity: a Discharge.
Portabello sighed, and put up a protective barrier to block the hit. Proton simply floated behind Titanium, who took the attack without even flinching. There were obvious perks of being immune to the loopy Pokemon's electricity. "Maaagne." droned the magnet. No no, not that way. Try to focus, channel your electricity to the top of your body, and focus it in the gem. He pointed to his own forehead, then to Beacon's.
The Ampharos looked up, trying to see this 'gem' that Portabello spoke of. His eyes rolled back as he strained to get a look at himself and he soon fell over due to dizziness after trying to pull his head down for a closer look. "Mya'nya..." he whined, his eyes swirling about in his head.
Portabello smacked his forehead. This was going to be difficult.
On the other side of the volcano, another sort of training was taking place. Rather than a positively reinforcing teacher who calmly explained the methods and tactics behind attacks, Xanthos took too chasing the two smaller Pokemon around their side of the volcano, sending wave and wave of attacks towards them.
Powalski had a tough time dodging because he couldn't very well latch onto the walls with his tongue. He had already tried that and received a nasty burn. The lizard whined and cycled through colors as he dodged the constant attacks from the angry lobster.
Camerae did not have the luxury of dexterity or speed to get out of the way of Xanthos's assault, but thanks to his hard shell, a good deal of the Pokemon's attacks were softened a bit. Even so, Camerae was a very young Pokemon, and his defenses and skills weren't nearly up to the same level as Xanthos. After being clipped by a Night Slash, the Omanyte retreated into his shell, hoping that would shield him from any more abuse.
Xanthos saw this, and took a break from chasing the Kecleon and turned to face the shellfish on the ground. He stomped towards the Pokemon, snapping his claws and inching closer. He reared a glowing claw up to strike, but soon felt it become very heavy and fall to the ground. He looked down. It was covered in ice. The Crawdaunt whipped around to find Shiver staring him down, his spike sparkling from his recent icy attack. Xanthos slammed his claw to the ground, shattering the ice and charged at the offending Pokemon. Shiver didn't budge. As he closed in on him, he felt something catch his leg and he fell to the ground. It was a tongue!
Powalski, motivated by the Cloyster's defiance, had lassoed the lobster by the foot. Xanthos narrowed his eyes and tugged on his foot. It took every bit of strength for the chameleon to hold his ground. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea!
Xanthos stood up and yanked on his foot. No good, the hold was bound, and the Kecleon's tongue tightened around his leg. Alright. If he didn't want to let go, he would make him sorry. The Crawduant grabbed Powalski's tongue and gave it a full powered tug. The Kecleon wailed in pain and was dislodged from his position, and was sent flying towards the Crawduant. Xanthos, tongue in hand, pulled back his free claw and thrust forward, which met the poor lizard square in the gut, sending him flying back. The lobster dug his feet into the ground to brace himself for when Powalski would tumble to the end of his limit, as he still refused to let go.

Keegan was neither surprised nor upset to hear that they'd missed the ferry, as though he didn't even really remember most of the trip to Sinnoh, he wasn't exactly jumping on the chance to board another ferry, even if it was just across a dinky little pond like this one. Though I guess dinky is in the eye of the beholder, he thought, eying the water distastefully. He looked towards Kasiya as she released a Pokemon, which turned out to be Leviathan, though admittedly he didn't recognize her at first. "So, Levi's a Swampert now, eh?" he mused, walking towards the large water and ground type Pokemon, though he stopped in his tracks when he saw her glare at him. Some things never change. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and watched the girl and her Swampert, wondering if Levi would relent and Surf him across the water. Nearby, he saw Mitsu and Kilik climb aboard her Gyarados, and the two of them started off across the water. "I should get me one of them," he muttered, looking back over at Kasiya as she had a stare-down with the Mud Fish Pokemon. "Don't worry about it, Kassie. I'll find my own way across," he said, wandering a ways from the two girls and the Swampert. He didn't really feel like getting soaked if Levi randomly decided to ditch him halfway across the lake, and after a moment or so he unhooked Alvero's Great Ball from his belt and looked at it, though he wasn't so sure the Skarmory would actually fly him over there in one piece, either. I wish I had Shiva with me, he thought, resisting the urge to have another smoke as he put away the Great Ball, and looked around. Perhaps he could bum a ride off one of these trainers...

What to do next. Maorde's Charizard was weakened, but it still had a substantial amount of fight left in it. If there was some sort of way to continually whittle its health down, that would be incredibly helpful to the team's aid, as Nina knew the Charizard was one of Maorde's best Pokemon. Taffy was, too, but due to a few twists of luck, it was pretty badly damaged for the time being. It was just about taking down Charizard, really... but how?
That's it, Nina thought. It's worth a try.
She paused for a moment as she heard Whitney issuing a command to her newly-acquired Clefable, who had recovered from using Blast Burn as the result of Metronome. "Clefable! We've had a good run of luck with using Metronome, but we need to give that a break. Let's do something that we know will help us out. I want you to use Cosmic Power! Bolster your defenses!" With a chirp and a nod, Clefable shut her eyes and concentrated as a collection of stars appeared around the fairy Pokemon. The stars shone brightly for a moment or two, before beginning to flash every couple of seconds. Shortly thereafter, Clefable absorbed the stars into her body, feeling a newfound sense of strength, as her Defense and Special Defense abilities had increased. "Good choice," Nina commended, wearing a bit of a grin before issuing a command of her own. "Aphrodite, I want you to use Rain Dance! We can't knock that Charizard out in its current state; all of the rain drenching it will surely be enough to further weaken it!" Responding with a soft cooooo, the Lapras closed her eyes and summoned ominous-looking, darkened stormclouds overhead. It wasn't long before thunder crashed, and a fury of water began pouring from the clouds, completely drenching the combatants. Opening her eyes, Aphrodite was enjoying the water upon her body, and it appeared that Clefable was, as well. Looking to her adversaries, the Metagross called Taffy seemed indifferent, but it was Charizard who appeared to be in pain, as the flame on its tail was flickering.
The psychic grinned, as she noticed that Maorde appeared to be concerned. "What's the matter? Did your knowledge of Pokemon dissipate with your facade of the real Maorde Menskr? It's common knowledge that when the flame on the tail of a Charizard is extinguished, the Pokemon will die." One of Maorde's eyes twitched at the girl's affront. "You do realize that if you kill my Pokemon, you will be no better of a person than I am, correct? How will that sit with you, Nina? Do you really need to resort to murdering Pokemon?" The girl crossed her arms, still grinning. "I am not like you. I believe in mercy. I will not kill your Pokemon. It's a tactic-- you should try them sometime. They actually work more than brute force alone." Maorde chuckled. "Well," he replied, "I'm not so certain of that. Brute force seems to work just fine for me. Let me show you what I mean." With a simple snap of his fingers, both his Charizard and Metagross charged at Aphrodite, violently raking their claws across the Pokemon's entire body. Taffy, for the first time, was not affected by the paralysis since Sakura had inflicted it. When Maorde deemed that the assault had adequately fulfilled his desires, he snapped his fingers again, causing his Pokemon to abandon Aphrodite, who had been knocked out as a result. Nina wordlessly recalled her Pokemon and reached for another Pokeball.
That was unnecessary, Sabrina thought. It won't matter soon, though...

Powalski hit the ground hard, getting dirt all over his tongue that was still attatched to the Crawdaunt. He began to think that attacking it was a bad idea. The Kecleon stood up slowly, his legs feeling like they could give any second. He'd faced off against bigger opponents: like Nitro. Then again, that was with the home court advantage and a sneak attack. This fight was going to be a lot tougher. He pulled tighter on his tongue, tightening his grip on the lobster.
Xanthos slammed the ground with his claws in a rage at the increased pressure on his leg. Then again, being roped by the little lizard made it impossible for his opponent to escape. Xanthos once again reached for the Kecleon's tongue, but was stopped by Shiver slamming into him from the side.
"Cloy!" The Cloyster fired a prismatic beam of energy at the tumbling Crawdaunt. He had to try to not to get Powalski's tongue while he coated Xanthos with a layer of ice. After all, he was trying to help the little guy take down this bully, not turn him into a popsicle.
Noting the lack of him being pounded into a fine powder, Camerae poked his head out of his spiral shell. He saw the hunter become the hunted as Xanthos was being slowly encased in ice while he swung Powalski around. Due to the volcano's extreme heat however, the water was evaporating and the ice was beginning to melt. The Omanyte fired a Water gun to cool down the lobster and help Shiver freeze him over.
Shiver saw Xanthos begin to thaw out, and he knew that as soon as he was free, he'd be going after him. There was murder in that Crawdaunt's eyes. However, he wasn't going to get the chance. Shiver took it up a notch and fired a powerful Ice Beam that cooled the air around them, and slammed into Xanthos. Powalski tugged at his tongue, and barely dislodged it in time to keep from becoming part of the ice sculpture. Soon the three Pokemon looked on in amusement as the volcano was graced with a new statue. Shiver laughed. Xanthos was going to be furious when he got out, but that would teach him to mess with all three of them at once.
Mike felt a cool breeze waft from the left. "What in the..." He looked above to see his three lower leveled Pokemon dancing around a frozen Xanthos. He burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Oh my god. That's amazing! Hahaha! Serves you right Xanthos!"
------
"What a gentleman," Sasha said with a smile as Keegan, in his own grumpy and aloof way, let the ladies take the Pokemon. "He iz so sweet, he just doesn't know it." With a giggle, Sasha gently got on top of the Swampert. "So, Levi iz z'his Pokemon's name, right? It iz built just like eh boat! How adorable!" Sasha grabbed the Swampert's rudder like tail and laughed. "I love eet!" She sat down and put her arms around Kasiya, making sure not to travel too far north, even if it was tempting. "Allons!" she cheered, pointing to the shore ahead.

Once she'd deposited the Raichu's Pokeball and was certain it had been received, Mai exited the Canalave City Pokemon Center, not sure what she should be doing next. She'd changed out of her disguise and into a deep purple Rocket uniform, though the red R on her left was mostly obscured by her pale, blonde hair. She really liked the way this outfit looked, as it highlighted her perfect figure in all the right places. She adjusted her black leather gloves as she headed for the city gates, intent on getting to the next town, which she discovered was called Jubilife. It apparently was home to a large television station, which made her think that this Jubilife place could be a good place to lay down the roots for their first Rocket base in Sinnoh.
It didn't take long for Mai to reach Canalave's gates, and soon she too was looking out over the lake that separated Canalave from Jubilife, and she watched idly as the ferry made its way to the far bank. She glanced around, not surprised to see some of the children releasing their Pokemon in order to Surf across the water, and she laughed quietly, amused by the fact that she hadn't immediately thought of it herself. She saw Kilik and the purple-haired Mitsu start across the small lake on the back of a strong-looking Gyarados, and nearby her sister and the pink-haired rich girl were getting ready to Surf across on the still newly-evolved Swampert. She spotted the redhead standing by himself, and she silently wondered why he hadn't released one of his Water-type Pokemon or simply ridden with someone else, and she waited until the two girls and the Swampert had started off across the water before she approached him.
"What's the matter, Red?" she asked coolly, holding the Pokeball that contained her Blastoise in her hands. "Afraid to get a little bit wet?" Her tone was condescending, but she completely meant for it to be that way. "If you're not too scared, you can ride with me and my Pokemon," she added, tossing the sphere up and down a few times before she released the giant Turtle Pokemon. Tanker yawned loudly and stomped his feet a few times before he made his way into the water, where he paused as he waited for his mistress to climb onto his back, which she did with practiced ease. Once she was settled, she turned back to Keegan and held out her hand. "Are you coming?" she asked, a little surprised at herself for being so... friendly. I'm just trying not to draw attention to myself, she told herself, shaking her head. That's all.
=-=-=-=-= "Beedrill, you gotta wake up!" Jaeshan called out to the sleeping bee Pokemon, but to no avail. Beedrill was soundly asleep. His legs and wings twitched now and then, as it was likely he was dreaming of chasing something and jabbing it with his stingers. In the meantime, Mary had called for her Bellsprout to use a Wrap attack, and the little plant had tottered forward and now had wrapped its vine-like appendages around the sleeping Beedrill's body, though it wasn't like he even noticed.
The Oddish was still standing in the same spot, somewhat nervous about the fact that the Squirtle was still underground. And her nervousness was definitely warranted, as seconds later the ground began to rumble and suddenly Squirtle's rapidly spinning shell burst from the ground and slammed hard into the Weed Pokemon, sending them both tumbling. Squirtle recovered first and dashed back towards Jaeshan, grinning. "Nice one, Squirtle!" Jaeshan called, glad that the Tiny Turtle Pokemon had managed to land such a good hit. It would be good for his confidence.
"Oddish, Poison Powder!" Mary called. "Bellsprout, keep up that Wrap attack!" It seemed like she was still confident she could win this, as she held her arms at her sides, and looked quite calm and cool. The Weed Pokemon hopped up and down, sending out a cloud of purple spores that engulfed Squirtle completely, and there was nothing the Water-type could do as he felt the poison slowly enter his system.

Keegan watched as the two girls began their voyage across the water on Levi's back, and though the Swampert didn't particularly care for him, he couldn't help but admire her. He had known her since she was first hatched, and now there she was, fully grown. He'd reached into his pockets for another smoke when he heard a familiar voice speaking to him, and he turned slowly on a heel, not sure he felt up to dealing with Mai right now, but before he could even get a word in, she'd sent out her Blastoise and was offering him a ride. He raised an eyebrow as he studied the massive Pokemon, trying to decide if her offer was genuine, or if she was just trying to lead him into a situation where she could humiliate him. Even still, the Blastoise seemed to have no qualms with giving him a lift, and he figured that if Mai tried to push him off the Pokemon's back, he'd try like hell to take her with him.
"Sure, why not," he said, shrugging as he accepted her hand and climbed onto the Blastoise's back. The shell felt sturdy below his feet and he knelt down, knowing that it was very unlikely that he'd be able to keep his balance once they started moving. "This guy's seen a ton of battles," he observed casually, running his fingers along a fairly long and deep scar in the Pokemon's shell. He looked up at the Rocket again, still trying to figure out what she was up to. "So, I'm guessing there's some kind of angle you're playing at, right? Since nothing's free, there's got to be something you want."

The little Chimchar didn't seem to like Luffy following him and turned and glared at the dressed up Ambipom. Luffy though didn't seem to mind as he just stared at the Chimchar with a bright look on his face. The fire monkey just growled slightly at Luffy before taking off into the trees at a rapid pace. Frowning Luffy watched the Chimchar for a second before taking off after it. While Luffy would normally be a lot faster then the Chimchar his large body was stopping him from catching up. Instead all Luffy could do was try his best to keep the other pokemon in sight.
Urg the stupid fat pokemon was following him and it just wouldn't let up. Well let's see how it would like going through the ghost pokemons territory. With that thought in mind the Chimchar took off to the darker part of the pokemon preserve.
Luffy didn't really notice that they were getting into a pretty dark part of the forest, he didn't really even notice the eyes that were following his chase through the forest. Still though his race had to end sometime, either it was one of the ghosts or Luffy's new clumsy body but the Ambipom slipped up and went crashing down into the bottom of the forest.
Groaning Luffy picked himself up from the ground and looked around him. He might not have been paying attention to all the eyes that were around him then but he sure was now. Gulping slightly the chubby Ambipom looked around and felt a cold sweat break out on him as he heard the cold laughter echo around him. Suddenly Luffy felt a stabbing pain in his back and his eyes going wide he looked back to see a huge nail sticking out of his back. Curse was not the most pleasant attack to get hit with.
On the ground Luffy wasn't sure what to do at all, none of his attacks were hitting these ghost things! Wincing slightly Luffy stared at all of them. They had to get out of his way he had to follow that cool monkey thing! Groaning Luffy glared at the ghost pokemon wondering what the hell he should do. Deciding that there wasn't really anything he could do he decided to just try all of his attacks to see if anything would work.
In the tree's the Chimchar watched with bored eyes as the Ambipom was attacked by the ghost pokemon. The ghosts didn't really like him, he had spent to much time messing with them but they really didn't like new comers. It also helped that over the years of being stuck here he had picked up ways to avoid them finding him. Yawning somewhat the Chimchar debated on leaving the other pokemon there on the ground but he seemed to notice something. The Ambipom seemed to be fighting back but none of its attacks were hitting the ghosts. It must be a normal type pokemon, maybe it didn't know any moves that could hit the other ghosts? No, no it just used some weird move against them, Astonish or something? It seemed to do a lot more damage then it should.
The battle, if you could call it that got a little less one sided after that, oh it still was completely one sided but at least the Ambipom could hit back now. Deciding he was done watching the other pokemon get beat up the Chimchar yawned and decided it was time to head back to the lab, it was getting to be lunch time. With that thought in his head the Chimchar hopped off heading back to the lab.

The scenery was pretty magnificent, and if not that at the very least fresh. The eyes enjoyed something new every now and then and what better way to satisfy the craving to visual adventure than by traversing through a new region. The trees were lush and held much foliage and the water fairly calm and crystal blue thanks to the rocks that barricaded the salt sea waves from disturbing the calm reservoir of water. Nightmare loved the water here, it was so much different from the rocky waves of the ocean. It tasted more fresh, due to the lack of offending salt too. In a sense, it reminded him more of home, for Mitsu had fished him out of a lake and he'd evolved into his behemoth form in one as well.
Speaking of the massive Pokemon, the Gyrados swam fairly quickly, speeding ahead of the more slow Swampert. He could easily have carried all five of them, but he was content with his load of two humans. One of which he was tempted to dump overboard due to his odd stance on his noggin. Nightmare preferred the company of his master alone, and if not her then her brown-haired friend whom he hadn't seen in a long time. Truth be told, he wasn't very fond of humans save for the few that his trainer was fond of.
Mitsu breathed in the clean air, somewhat missing the sharp scent of salt that hung like clouds where it was particularly thick in the sea. The fresh air, however, held just a tint of salt and was rather refreshing. She looked up to him, smiling as he finish his rather determined speech. "Not much, probably challenge some gyms and just to train in general." She looked down at her hands, "I'm not exactly as tough as the rest of you, I have some catching up to do. . ." she paused before raising her eyes, "But I'm going to train hard! And when we get stronger I'm going home to win my two last badges." She smiled, feeling pretty confident not only in herself but her Pokemon.
Needless to say he ferried Mitsu and Kilik across the short distance with both ease and agility. he bent his head down, allowing the two humans easy access to the ground. Their fascination with the solid earth he'd never understand.

He listened intently on what she was saying, as well as taking in the scenery around him. Straight ahead, he could see large buildings looming up. Sinnoh seemed to be much more industrialized than the other regions. Hoenn had it's fair share of technological advances, but was more or less a very trade based region, what with all the water surrounding it. Johto had it's rolling hills and Kanto had it's booming business smack dab in the middle of the region - Saffron, Celadon, and Vermilion Cities. Sinnoh seemed different. Canalave was a big, bustling port town and Jubilife, from the outside, seemed to be a large city much like Goldenrod or Saffron was. "Home?" he raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you're a home-grown Hoenn girl! That's right," he hopped off of Nightmare and planted his feet firmly on the ground. "You can get those last two badges no problem. I hear Wallace is just a big fop - all talk, no game. Never actually considered battling him myself...Come to think of it," he scratched the back of his head, "I don't even own any badges from Hoenn. Weird, right?"
He slid his hands into his pockets. Come to think of it, the only Gym Battle he'd had in Hoenn was against Roxanne all those months ago. It boggled his mind that he had grown so strong so shortly...if he were to go back and challenger her now, I'm sure that things would be a lot different. He had grown to miss his Eevee, but it's choice to evolve into Flareon to help him in his rematch against Erika couldn't have been any more perfect. It was strange, really. So much had changed for him in such little time. He laughed to himself. I only got my Rainbow and Thunder Badges through rematches, he thought. The training with Koga really helped. If it hadn't been for the Ninja Poison Master, he realized he wouldn't be where he was today. He looked up at the sky with a smile. Thanks, Koga.
He stretched out and started walking towards the check-in station between the sea and Jubilife, thinking of the building as more of an entrance to the city than anything else. A few other trainers were ahead of them, and he swore he saw a familiar girl in the group. Grah! Rebecca! he scowled, looking away quickly before getting angrier. He looked at Mitsu and sighed softly. "Let's get going!" he laughed, looking over his shoulder to see the group of trainers finally making it inside.

Taking Mike's advice, Felsic banked a hard left and began making smoke like his life depended on it. Okay, so his life might not have, but his pride did, dammit!
Nitro tried to keep up with the Typhlosion's movements, but soon the vast majority of the gym floor was covered in a thick blanket of smoke. The Charizard fired a few streams of fire into the smog, but that only added to it and gave Felsic more cover. Nitro circled in the air like a Fearow looking for a tasty worm as he pondered what to do next. Suddenly, a scatter shot of stars shot straight from the smoke and slammed into the soaring saurian. The Charizard roared in anger, and tried to dodge out of the way of the second volley. No matter how he dodged, dipped or rolled, the attack followed, and eventually caught up.
Mike snapped his finger. "Brilliant! Using an attack with homing properties while under the cover of the smoke. Felsic is smarter than I thought." Mike heard an angry bark from inside the smokescreen. He laughed. "Keep it up!" He turned his gaze onto Nitro, who was now fleeing a third round of the Swift attack. "Your aerial preference has you at a disadvantage!" He yelled. "You're going to have to get down in there and find him!"
My pleasure, thought the Charizard as he dipped down and raced towards the surface of the gym. He made a low pass, the speed taking some of the smoke on the ground with him as he flew by. He looped around again and made another pass, getting slammed in the side by another Swift attack. Nitro roared angrily; that was getting annoying! On his third pass, he caught sight of a tan blur amidst the black smog and dove for it. That's it! You're going down!
Gotta keep moving! Felsic only stopped for a few seconds to launch his attacks. Now that Nitro was actively removing the smoke on the ground, he had less and less cover to work with. He'd better think of something fast, or Nitro will-HURK! Felsic felt his momentum come to a screeching halt, and his chin slammed on the ground. Agh! It was Nitro! This was bad!
The Charizard dragged Felsic across the ground and threw him to an area free from smoke, opened his wings and pounced on him. Sinking his claws into the Typhlosion's sides, Nitro picked him up and slammed him back down on the ground. Mike winced. Felsic let out a weak cry and fell back, defeated. Nitro roared in victory, shooting a victorious Flamethrower into the air.
Mike let out a clap and walked over to the two Pokemon. Nitro looked scuffed up but nothing serious. He couldn't say the same about Felsic though. He had deep cuts over his stomach from being dragged along the floor and his sides were bleeding. "Don't worry about it, Felsic." He said, gently rubbing behind the wounded Pokemon's ear. "Nitro's the big man. You did great. a bit more training and you'll be able to go toe to toe with him no problem. So don't go feeling down." The Typhlosion smiled weakly before being returned into his Pokeball. "You too, buddy." He recalled Nitro as well, and ran over to the Gym's restoration chair. "These things are so damn cool." In no time at all, both Pokemon were fully healed, and released back on to the stage. They stretched out and traded a few playful pokes and prods before Mike jumped on Nitro's back and carried him to the other side of the arena.
As he walked back to start the next sparring match, the heavy steel doors slowly opened, and Blaine walked in with a bag; most likely holding the boy's new clothes. He looked around at the sudden increase in population in his Gym. "You certainly don't waste any time making yourself comfortable." He said with a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry Blaine." Mike said, scratching the back of his head. "It's just, I had a bit of an episode and came to the realization that things weren't going to happen on their own. So I took out all my Pokemon and started training. I hope you don't mind."
"Not at all." His attention went to the fire Pokemon beside Mike. "Not bad. You've got a nice group of Fire Pokemon there." He noticed Napalm. "And a Magmar, eh?"
"I love my Napalm!" Mike threw his arms around his Pokemon and rubbed his cheek against his. The Magmar smiled at the sudden increase in affection from his trainer.
Blaine cocked his head to the side. "Doesn't that hurt?"
"It's hot but other than that no." He pulled his face away and pat his cheek. "Should it?"
"Magmar's body temperature is over 2,000 degrees. That's like sticking your head into a forge. Most normal people would be in the hospital."
"How about that."
"Anyway, how long have you had that Magmar?"
"Uh, a few weeks, why?"
Blaine laughed. "I got something I think you'll find very interesting."

"Like what?" Mike asked, going back to draping himself over his Charizard like a scarf.
Blaine pushed in his sunglasses. "Like a newly discovered evolution of Magmar which I just so happen to have."
"What. Show me. Now."
"Of course." Blaine snickered, and threw his arms into the air. "Come on out, Magmortar!" There was a sudden rumbling beneath the arena. It felt like an eruption. The chains suspending the gym arena rattled like crazy. The training Pokemon all stopped and looked around in confusion. Mike leaned over the side of the stadium. The magma below was bubbling furiously, like something was hidden beneath the fiery waves.
"Oh no way, that is too cool." Mike gripped the sides of the gym as he looked down into the volcano below. His Pokemon all leaned over and watched as well. The rumbling suddenly subsided, and silence followed. Mike raised an eyebrow, then was reminded just how the floor of the Gym felt like to his forehead as something exploded from the chasm below and shook the entire cavern. He saw a giant red and yellow monster leap from below and soar towards them at breakneck speed. It landed next to Blaine, and when it stood up, it towered over him. Mike's eyes widened.
It looked a lot like Magmar, but much, much bigger. It's arms had been replaced with what looked like giant cannons with spikes on the end of them. It's face was more human-like, Magmar's once avian bill being pushed back into lips. It's flame tipped tail was replaced by a long stream of flames. He wasn't even sure it had anything underneath it. It's shoulders and head were also wreathed in flames.
"This new evolution was just recently discovered when you trade Magmar with a specific item. Studies show that it drastically increases the Pokemon's offensive output, and it is much more adaptable in terms of learning new moves." Blaine looked at his Pokemon with pride. "It's species has been named Magmortar, for obvious reasons. What do you think?"
Mike's eye twitched, and his squeal of joy probably set off car alarms in Johto.

Blaine blinked at the...surprising response. "I take it you like it?"
"Like it? I LOVE IT! I want one right now! How do you evolve it again?" Mike jumped up and down, shifting his gaze from Blaine, to his newly revealed Magmortar, to Napalm. "It looks totally awesome!"
"You obtain it by trading a Magmar that is holding a Magmarizer. It's a very rare box which holds an incredible amount of energy. We don't know it's origins, but Magmar seemed to react very strongly to it. One day, a researcher traded his Magmar while holding the item and it evolved. However, since the item is only found in Sinnoh, Magmortar are very rare."
Mike's shoulders drooped. "Aw. Sinnoh. That's so far away." He kicked the ground. "Being a fugitive sucks." He frowned, looking at the Magmortar like a toy on the shelf that was just too expensive.
Blaine put a hand to his chin. "As you may know, I'm rather well known in the scientific community. I could pull some strings on my next visit to Sinnoh and see what I could do. I can't make any promises, though." He motioned for the Magmortar to leave, and the Pokemon jumped back into the lava.
Mike's face lit up. "You'd do that? Eeh-heehee! Thank you!" He clapped his hands together in excitement. "Any other crazy new evolutions of my Pokemon that I don't know about but should know about?"
Blaine surveyed the boy's Pokemon. "Omanyte, no. Cloyster, no. No. No. Mm-mm. Steelix. Oh, Magneton has a new form if you didn't know. It's called Magnezone."
"You wouldn't happen to have one of those would you?" Mike cupped his hands together and asked with pleading eyes.
"Sorry." replied Blaine, shaking his head. "They don't really fit into my theme. I do however, know where you can obtain one."
"Oh? And where is that?" Mike asked.
"In Sinnoh-"
"Dammit!"
"-there is a mountain that divides the whole continent called Mt. Coronet. Apparently, certain Pokemon are affected by the magnetism within the mountain, and some evolve due to exposure to it. If I'm correct, I believe Magneton and Nosepass are the two Pokemon that evolve when trained in that mountain."
"That's really weird." Mike said, scrunching his face up as he pondered. "That Sinnoh region sounds really weird."
"It's fascinating." replied Blaine. "There are so many interesting Pokemon and landmarks there. I'm excited to travel there again, but unfortunately my next expedition there isn't for a few weeks. I am running there later tomorrow to drop off some research notes, though."
Mike was deep in thought and didn't reply.
"Something on your mind, Mike?"
"Stop me if I'm sounding too selfish." Mike began, holding up both hands defensively. "Because I really, really appreciate you taking me in without a second thought, allowing me access to your lab, getting me new clothes and offering to try to get me a Magmarizer. You know that right?"
"I figured as much, yes."
"I was wondering, since you're going to Sinnoh tomorrow, are an experienced trainer, and not hunted by the law, could you please take Proton with you and see if you could get him to evolve? O-only if you have the time of course! I don't want to seem demanding!" Mike waved his hands and backed up, laughing nervously.
Blaine tilted his head back slightly. "I'll consider it. Once again, no promises."
"Thank you."
"You should get some rest. Tomorrow bright and early I would like to begin training. Not to mention, I'm sure your non-fire Pokemon would appreciate a break from all this hard work in the blistering heat."

Mike nodded, and rounded up his Pokemon. He made sure to recall the now thawing Xanthos first, lest he retaliate to the rather humiliating loss he suffered at the hands of Mike's weaker Pokemon. "Napalm, Vesuvius, we'll get to your fight later. Good work out there everyone! That's what I like to see! Especially you three." He pointed to Shiver, Powalski and Camerae. "Xanthos is a tough customer. I'm very impressed you were able to subdue him." The boy got another good chuckle out of the lobster's defeat and recalled the rest of his Pokemon except for Portabello. "How's the progress with Beacon?" he asked, having a good idea in his head what the answer was going to be.
Calling it progress would be far too generous, master. The Breloom let out another sigh; the last of many today. His mind is almost as chaotic as yours, if you don't mind me saying. It makes him very difficult to train. He can barely focus.
"Maybe me and him have more in common than I thought." Mike said with a laugh.
Perhaps. But master, you don't randomly shoot electricity everywhere.
"That's true."
Forgive me. I do not wish to complain. It is unbecoming. I will continue to train Beacon as long as you feel it is necessary.
"I know. Thank you Portabello. You deserve a good rest." He recalled his Pokemon, who vanished into his Pokeball in a bowing pose. Training Beacon to be effective was going to be tough, but something inside him felt that it would be worth it. Whenever that Pokemon fired off one of his electric attacks, the result was incredible. He just needed a way to direct it, to aim it. At the moment, Portabello was a much better teacher than him, as Mike was too busy dealing with his own mental issues to take on someone else's. He walked towards the door to the lab, remembered his Pokemon's words, and smiled.
"Maybe not electricity..." He said, pushing the door open and heading into the lab.

As Luffy and the Chimchar had their little forest adventure Robin, Ampersand and Rowan were doing their best to try to think of a way to take the poor pokemon that had been basically abandoned here without breaking the law. They all racked their brains but they weren't coming up with anything. It would just be way easier if it was just some random trainer coming to pick up this pokemon but the way it was set it the poor thing was pretty much trapped in the system.
"Is there some sort of paperwork she could fill out to get this all cleared over?" Ampersand asked after a moment rubbing his chin a frown on his face.
"That would have worked maybe a few years ago but its been four years since this pokemon arrived at my lab maybe two years ago we could have done it but not now."
"Four years! Yikes! I have only had Luffy for 2 years how come you didn't tell me sooner? I mean I love Luffy and all but it sounds like this poor pokemon has been waiting for me for a while!" Robin suddenly felt really bad for leaving a pokemon she didn't know she had until it was to late.
At Robin's comment Professor Rowan had the decency to look embarrassed. "I did not mean for it to come four years early. There was a mix up in the paperwork and I accidentally put yours in instead of another boys."
"Oh no wonder the poor thing has been acting up! He must think I am the worst person ever!" Robin wailed not happy with herself. Oh it had to be awful thinking that the trainer you were supposed to go to didn't want you while your other starter friends got picked instead. Oh whatever the pokemon was that was leftover, Robin still didn't know or really care, Robin was going to take it with her no matter the consequences. "That's it I don't care what happens that pokemon is coming with me." Robin had a determined look on her face as she stood up from her chair she was sitting in.
"You might have to break the law to do that missie." Ampersand said with a teasing grin directed at Robin.
The look Robin gave him was not one to be messed with. "Do you think I care?" Was all she said. None of them noticed the small Chimchar that was frozen in the window listening to the conversation.
