it's actually quite interesting, once you understand all the vocabulary that goes along w/it.
i tell you, scientic research papers need a dictionary of vocabulary and techniques to go with them. next week, i get to present one. whee. >_>;;

I'm reading Forever Amber and it makes me hate men. So there we go. xD
It doesn't really...it just makes hate the men from King Charles II reign. And it's almost a thousand pages crying It's really good though if you don't get overemotional about a female character who cure a man of the PLAGUE and still gets rebuffed when she wants him to marry her. (even though she had his baby and they've been sleeping together on and off for the past five years)
Wheee, Mekky is teh crazy.

WoefulInfinity :p My opinion at this point = Ehf. So, anyone read and good literature lately? I've beenr eading Angels in America for class, and it's really awesome. HELLS YEAH. I read that in school in grade 12. It was fantastic. I actually bought my own copy of it afterwards. 'far as what I'm reading, um.. I don't read as much as I used to. I wish I could make time for it but my attention span is so frazzled... Anyway, I'm reading Clothar the Frank by Jack Whyte, and Lulluby by Chuck Palahniuk (actually re-reading. I already read it, but due to attention span issues mentioned above I'd totally forgotten the begining by the time I got to the end ... so I'm reading at least the first half over), and Foundation PHP 5 for Flash by David Powers. wink

Don't know if anyone around here is a major of Laurell K. Hamilton, or even heard of her. Recently she just published a book called "Micah", pretty much to keep her fans from going through to much withdraw, till her new book comes out crying . I just totally adore her Anita Blake series. It's sexy, steamy, violent, and action packed! If you like vampire stories or any creature of the night, you'll love her books.
Love to know if anyone in the guild has read her books 3nodding heart .

I love her books, I can't decide which series I like better though, the anita blake, or meredith gentry ones. She's one of the few artists that I can read over and over again. Havn't read Micah yet though.
Has anyone ever read a book called "Neverwhere"? Its by Neil Gaiman

I'm reading the most awesome non-fiction book now, Rats: Observations on the History and Habitat of the City's Most Unwanted Inhabitants. It's a short history of how rats came to america, set up shop in the US, have spread plague, and so on. Plus it has all of these hilarious anecdotes about people finding rats in their homes or having to kill them or just having weird encounters with them. It's not for the squeamish or people who are really creeped out by rats, I guess, but I think it's completely fascinating, and the writer is quite good. j A d e d i am reading about RNA interference. @___@; RNAi ftw! It's such a useful technique.

You know, I never got into the Anita Blake books, though I was on a book group were a few people there LOVED her.
I'm in between books right now, but busy doing this training thing for Home Shopping Network to be a call center, order-taker. So lately, I'm reading about jewelry and their products and how to take orders and whatnot. Fun, eh? But hey! It brings in a little extra money and allows me to stay home with the baby!

Sai Amayashi I love her books, I can't decide which series I like better though, the anita blake, or meredith gentry ones. She's one of the few artists that I can read over and over again. Havn't read Micah yet though. Has anyone ever read a book called "Neverwhere"? Its by Neil Gaiman Hmm, yes I could be quite torn on deciding which is the better series. Hehe...both have tons of gorgeous men in them whee . As for the "Micah" book, it helps you learn a little more about him and how there relationship is going. Course there is always the bad a** action going on in the background. Oh have you read her "'Nightseer"? It could have been another series, but I think she stopped at one book.
Can't say I have read that book by Niel Gaiman. Is it any good?
@Noraboo: Lol, wow! That sounds like it would be a rather interesting read.

Yeah, my favorite would be Nathaniel. Just the tortured past and lavender eyes got me. I just found out a few days ago that the book came out so I havn't gotten a chance to buy/go to the library yet.
The book is very good, but very odd, like in an alice and wonderland way. The characters are wonderful though.

nora - yah RNAi is interesting. we're barely even touching the tip of the iceburg right now. now we're adding some epigenetics to it and sequencing genes XD;; but rats, that sounds both interesting and not at the same time. whenever i think about them i think about some movie where these soldiers went to bed w/crumbs on their faces and got eaten/gnawed to death by rats @______@
and i read the anita blake series such a long time ago. my best friend is a fan of hers and she made me read them at first. if i remember it correctly, it got kinda weird after awhile. but that may be just me, i read them..oh.. in high school that was like almost 6 years ago. XD;;

Ironically, Mek, I'm in Grade 12. Haha, I looove Angels in America. Belize is so awesome! I love him. We watched a little of the movie in class. Joe's kinda cute. XD *sigh* Too bad... him and Louis... If only Lou wasn't so... weak.
Sai, I haven't read Neverwhere, but I LOVE Neil Gaiman. I waited for three hours in the humid cold outdoors, but I got his autograph! I've read Coraline, his other children's books, the first couple volumes of Sandman, the comic about the fox and the monk, 1692, and American Gods. I have yet to crack open my (signed!) copy of Anasi Boys, though.
On the other hand, I haven't heard of Anita Blake, and I took bio a whopping three years ago...

Iris_virus Anetra_Pendragon What is an Anthro?A lot of gaian artists say that they won't draw mechs, or anthros, or whatever else non-avatar type of thing. Now, I'd never worried about this in the past. None of my characters are mechs, they all have flesh, and to my knowledge none of my characters are anthros. BUT I just put an order in at a shop here on Gaia, for a picture of my tiefling character Gwyndalyn. The response I got from the aritst was something like "Didn't you read the rules I said I don't do anthros". This leaves me with the question of what the fhagre is an anthro? I thought they needed to be, you know, furry or something. If any of my characters were going to be accused of being an anthro, I'd thought for sure it would be Lilith-- I mean, she's got two forms, she's got scales, she has four horns and wings and a tail. But no, I've never had problems with her. It's little Gwyndalyn, who has... horns. So uh.. yeah. What defines an anthro on gaia? Weird @_@ My 'guess' would be that she looked at the picture and assumed she was fur or scale covered because of the grey skin, ears, and horns. Really she isn't anthro at all.
Anyway, from what I've seen around Gaia this seems to be the norm:
Light anthro- things like kitty girls and the such.. They have the extras like ears and tails, but are pretty much human. Pretty little human Duchess shall be my example :3
Regular Anthro- Basically an animal in human form. It varies with styles from looking like a fur covered human (which is I think what she might have thought your character was?) Borrowing this one, not my char or an animal that just has the proportion of humans (aka still has the snout, can have paws or digigrade legs, etc etc) My fursona-heavy anthroYeah, she was probably mistaken because of the different skin colorings... since, uhm, it's damned hard to CG fur. XD; And the horns add to it. Pretty sure you could explain it to the artist if you wanted. Anthro mainly poses a problem for me when it's got a muzzle. Then, it's hit or miss.
