So more stuff happened. I met Jani again and she grew. We talked and stuff. She doesnt like her hair and thinks I shouldnt have hair when I grow if I ever grow. She knows Mignon! And theyre good friends too and so me and Jani are gonna be friends. Mignon picks good friends usually.
Me and Kilah are friends again too. I dont really know how it happened but it did. And if she ever says I cried, I DIDNT. Shes a lying buttface. But theres no reason why she would say that so forget I said anything. So we talked and stuff and were friends now and then we came back here cause she wanted to talk to Jax but I dont think shes plotting against me or anything. I think she just likes Jax. And I really dont care cause I have friends who she hates so she can have friends who I hate. As long as I dont have to talk to him.
And then yesterday I went to the manshun place and met Chaco again and he said Im not broken prolly and that everyone grows at their own pace. HA. I dont think so but whatever. He said my last quest prolly did do something and I just didnt notice. Ive been trying to figure out what but I cant think of anything.
He also seemed annoyed when I told him Moo and Banda forgot about me. but I told him its alright and Im used to it and that he shouldnt worry. Not that anyone ever worries but oh well. He also thinks that maybe Banda just couldnt come back for some reason and didnt forget me. I doubt it. No ones seen him in a long time. I dont think anyone has anyway...
Ima go now. Bye.

Amakusa_Ryu Lyrus: Kid Quest!Well it's been a long time and many fights, but it is now time for Lyrus to grow again! So what does he need to do in order to accomplish this task? Why, he needs to gather these things: Three t-shirts of different colors, a backpack, a knife with a colored blade, and two items made of glass. Once he is in possession of these objects, he must organize them around his room so that they all seem to be in their proper 'places', however that may be. Lyrus blinked slowly down at the scrap of parchment, eyeing it almost suspiciously. Another quest. Just like Chaco had said. But if he was getting another quest, that meant his last had done something and... He really wasn't broken. But according to that logic, this quest would be... The boy frowned down at the paper, absently flipping it over, then over again to eye the list of items he would have to gather. At least it included glass and a knew knife. Cool. A split second later, the boy was sprinting for the kitchen, scrap of paper shoved protectively in his pocket. "Mo--...Whoever you are, c'mon, we have to go shopping NOW!"

Naturally, the boy had had his way. Sure, it had taken a bit of yelling, a few threats, and forcibly dragging Saoni!Moo for the door, but even with Moo's mind where it was, the woman couldn't resist shopping for long. A day in town had gradually turned up all the items; The t-shirts were easy, and Lyrus was pleased to note that they had scared Moo into nearly refusing to purchase them.
The bag came shortly afterward. Moo had had her heart set on a fuzzy pink one, but eventually gave in when her 'son' threatened to pin the ball of fluff to her hand with the dagger he was once again carrying around, now that he and Kilah were getting along again. They had decided on a black bag, more of a casual briefcase than bookbag, but hopefully it would do.
And then came Lyrus' favorite part of the day: glass and knives. It was all Lyrus could do to keep from demanding every glass item at the booth they found. But, he readoned, all that glass would clutter his room, and even glass wasn't worth that. Still, he had managed to talk his way into a set of shot glasses, elegant enough that he could use them for whatever the hell he felt like, and a small glass globe, more of a paperweight than anything, but lovely nonetheless.
And the knife. That had been difficult. A search of four different stores brought no results--the closest they had come was a black blade, and Moo wasn't entirely sure that counted, so they had gone without. However, a thorough search of a pawn shop had turned up a relatively new dark green knife, blade, handle and all. Lyrus was in love.
And now they were home, new belongings scattered around Lyrus' room, and the boy himself wasting time by admiring his new blade. However, memory of the quest and the faint annoyance of having bags all over his floor soon pulled Lyrus' attention back to his work. Where to begin...?
Shirts in the closet, first off. Lyrus was rather tempted to wear the green one, but it was far too large for him at present. All of the shirts his size had had stupid baby phrases. Lyrus would not stand that. A short internal debate told him that the bookbag could go in the closet as well--up on the shelf over his clothes.
It took Lyrus a full fifteen minutes to drag his table to the closet, set a chair on top of it, and convince himself that the glass wouldn't break if he climbed on them both. In addition, it took another five minutes for Lyrus to settle the bag on the shelf to his satisfaction. It just hadn't looked right before.
After carefully climbing down and returning his chair and table to their proper positions near the window, Lyrus turned his attention to the remaining three items cast atop his bed: the green knife, the glass globe, and the shot glasses.
Scooping up three of the glasses--one in each hand, the third held between them--Lyrus walked over to his shelves and carefully placed the trio on the nearest one, organizing them in a neat little triangle.
...No.
Picking them up again, he tried a different shelf, then another, and so on and so forth until he finally went back to the chair-on-table strategy, organizing all six glasses on one of the higher shelves until such time as he might need them for..whatever they were four. They were pretty glasses to be sure, but Lyrus had prettier ones for everyday use.
The glass globe was much easier to place. Once the table and chair had been returned to their postion for the second time, Lyrus carefully set the globe in the middle of the table, where a ray of light from the window slanted across and illuminated it. Perfect.
But the knife... As lovely as it was, it would be too much trouble for Lyrus to carry around two blades just yet. He argued with himself for a while, but finally decided on the usualy spot: the 'secret box' under his bed. It would be safest there. Meaning, of course, Jax wouldn't find it.
Crawling out from under the bed after replacing the box, Lyrus plopped down to sit on the edge, beaming proudly around his room. There.
Perfect.

Lyrus is a Kid!!! Well, it looks like Lyrus has finally become a kid... with HAIR? Well, it seems as though dark blue locks have finally sprouted out of his head! And not to mention he looks quite hot. You can now see a little more of the markings on his arm, as well. Hmmm. What shall we see from this new kid?

"Kilah, turn it down!" Twila snapped, and again got no response. She couldnt' help but feel Kilah could infact hear her, and was just choosing to ignore her siblings cries of anger.
Not that the two of them were on good terms as it was, but Sango had really thought they'd get along today! Twila hadn't liked the idea of coming here, but Noyama didn't trust her alone in the house, apparently. Upon their arrival Sango was pleased to find the more violent of the two girls immediatly requesting to play doctor. Things went well until she pulled her dagger out and annouced it was time to cut Twila open...
After a nice, loud shouting arguement, she'd set them both on opposite sides of the room. Kilah had headphones on, hooked up to some cheap CD player that's main job seemed to blast volume as loud as possible. The fact it was rock music didn't help any.
"Sango!" Twila whined for the countless time.
"Just ignore it," repeated the slayer as she continued her examination of the room. Looked like a library or something...
Life was good. Gods above, life was finally really, really good. But why, exactly? It may have had something to do with the fact that Lyrus had a knew knife to play with--one that could fold into its handle and easily hide in his pocket, without him worrying about cutting himself.
Or it may have been that Jaxom had 'conveniently' fallen out of a tree that morning and broken his wrist, returning home just in time for Lyrus to rub it in with a cheerful wave before he had set if off for the Sin'aeis mansion.
Or, you know, it could just be that Lyrus was taller, had hair, and his horn was freaking kick-a**.
That too.
Whatever the reason, Lyrus was in an acceptionally good mood when he reached the mansion and slipped inside, intent on finding Chaco and personally thanking him for convincing Lyrus that he wasn't broken at all. That alone, Lyrus decided, was the reason his quest had finally come. Thanks were most certainly in order.
But a search of the house turned up no Chaco. (Ha, he must have finally gotten out for a day or something.) However, familiar voices frmo a room Lyrus hasn't visited before quickly caught his attention, and a peek inside confirmed his suspicious. Grinning ear to ear, the boy slipped in and over to Kilah, eyeing her CD played for a moment before unplugging the headphones. "Guess what!"
"I'm going to murder you because that was my favorite song?" Alright, so that wasn't true, but unplugging her headphones when she was OBVIOUSLY trying to avoid listening to Twila complain was a dangerous feat. Before anything else, Kilah noticed that complaining she'd been trying to drown out just...wasn't there anymore. Odd. Maybe she and Sango had left or something.
Her ability was of little use to her now, as the music was still ringing in her ears. If they had or hadn't been present, she wouldn't be able to tell until her abused ears recovered from the sudden decrease in volume. Absently, she reached over and rubbed her upper-arm as if it was bothering her, raising an eyebrow.
"You sound different." Maybe it was that music echoing still. "Are you sick?"
"Nope. On both counts," he added with a grin. Almost automatically, he tugged away the headphones, turning them around in his hands, silently inspecting them. How much work had it taken to make something like this let Banda hear? Maybe, just maybe, if someone could remake them, word would get back to Banda and he would come home?
Not that Lyrus was nearly as worried anymore. Banda was smart, and an artist, and perfectly capable of finding a job and somewhere to stay. Finding out where exactly this was was still an issue, however. "I'll give you a hint: I have hair now."
Yet again, Kilah gave him one of those looks. Considering she couldn't see where he was, and now lacked eyes to aid her in expressions (even though they hadn't been MUCH help) it was hard, but she managed. "I don't believe you," she said flatly, holding her hand out. "Now give me my-"
With her hearing now keen as before, she suddenly hesitated, and her hand hovered there awkwardly as if she'd just discovered something. Which was, infact, the case. The table nearly fell over as Kilah suddenly knocked the chair back, as well as Lyrus, her hands somehow managing to wrap themselves around his neck.
"You're okay!" Well, this growing was certainly welcomed by her! Since she'd last seen him, she'd seriously considered the fact he'd been right. That something had been wrong. She'd only come today to beat the hell out of Chaco, since it was no doubt his fault. Grinning broadly, the awkward out-of-character moment ended and she stepped back. "Weeelll, how about that! How's your hair look, huh?"
Lyrus was just about to insist that she believe him when, well...she did, nearly knocking him over in the process. Rather stunned by the greeting, he awkwardly returned the 'hug', and snapped back to his senses only when she stepped back and returned to her normal self. As normal as she could be after that, anyway.
Grinning, he glanced up towards his hair and absently blew a lock from his face, shrugging. "It's alright, I guess. Weird seeing it after not having any at all. And it's annoying, 'cause it's long-ish and falls in my eyes. But I'll get used to it, I figure." Personally, he loved his hair, though he would never admit to it. That, and the way his eyes had changed color to almost match it. Good stuff.
"But yeah, I grew! It's great! I'm taller than Jax now," he added with a smirk, thoughts wandering back to that morning and the broken tree branch. "And it's not so much trouble to do, well...everything. You're the first person I've seen since I grew, excluding family and stuff."
This was great! Even if they'd been fighting, Kilah would've probably been pleased with this. Mind you, she most certainly wouldn't have glomped him like that, but it would've still provided some relief. As he spoke, she grinned. The expression flattered a bit when Jax's name was mentioned, but recovered quickly.
"I bet you're cuter than him, too!" Joked Kilah, laughing louder than nesscary. Her hand was once again on her arm. Apparently, she wasn't the only one effected by the mention of Lyrus's brother. Sango's eyes suddenly darted away from the boy, and Twila made a face.
"You should keep your stupid brother away from Kilah!" The blonde hissed through her teeth, looking and sounding disgusted. "She's a b***h and everything, but that's no excuse to stab her--"
"TWILA!" Sango interupted, laughing nervously and pratically dragging her sister from the chair. "Let's...go to the mall! I'll buy you something nice!" Before any protests could be made, she pulled the star child out of the room. That seemed to be happening a lot lately. If only she could learn to THINK before she spoke! Her problem with Kilah was probably they were so much alike sometimes...
Her sisters were gone, but Kilah didn't seem phased. Rather, she sounded a bit more annoyed about them being there to begin with than Twila blurting things out. "M'sorry, she really doesn't know when to shut up. Mignon's gonna be really excited you're alright."
"I am," Lyrus replied immediately, smugly folding his arms across his chest. And he was too, as far as he was concerned. Not that he actually knew what decided that, but that was far from the point. Jaxom was pink, Lyrus was blue and black. He was better.
However, any smile faded with Twila's outburst, eyes flickering towards the girl. Disregard the fact that he completely agreed with her; Jaxom had done what!? Lyrus glared aftr them until they had gone, then whirled on Kilah, arms falling back to his sides, one hand reaching for the arm she was 'defending'. "He stabbed you?" Apparently Lyrus had mastered the 'threatening hiss' Kilah so prided herself on.
Stepping back a bit, Kilah's eyebrows squinted together. Obviously, the topic wasn't one she wanted to dicuss. It was, however, one she had planned for incase it came up. "Twila's a liar. She's only saying that because she doesn't like Jax."
"I tried to fly, and I fell. When she saw my arm hurt she jumped to conclusions like always. She's too dumb to realize sticks can stab you just as much as daggers or knives can." Seeming content with that answer, she lowered her hand so as to avoid further suspicion and shrugged her shoulders.
"Mmhmm." Lyrus didn't believe a word of it. However, he also didn't believe Jaxom would have the nerve to stab Kilah--nor that he would even if he could work up the nerve, for that matter. However, he had just that morning shoved someone out of a tree and onto a conveniently placed, newly falled tree branch; That had resulted in a broken wrist and a few scratches. The branches had simply broken, which was lucky, because any stabs from them would have been really messy.
Therefore, there was a simply way to find the truth. "Someone cleaned and bandaged it and crud, right? Let me see."
That idea didn't seem to settle to well. "You're really nosey," she grunted, and it sounded like somewhat of a warning. It was great he wasn't 'broken' and everything, but because he was older he was smarter now. That might cause problems toddler Lyrus probably wouldn't have provided. "I cleaned it, it's fine. If I need help I'll go see Pansy."
It was nice Lyrus wasn't Mignon. She could lie to Lyrus. Saying she'd go to Yukito for help was definetly a lie. Even someone who bought the flying bit would've known that. Looking annoyed as before, she seemed to decide it was better not to argue with it after all and held her arm out. "See? Fine. Drop it." Not that one could see with her jacket covering her arms, but still...
Lyrus merely shrugged. He wasn't nosey. He was just suspicious. True, Kilah could lie to him, but she had chosen the wrong lie to make: The Kilah Lyrus knew would rather let her arm fall off than ask Yukito, of all people, for help. Therefore, when she held out her arm, Lyrus immediately caught her by the wrist and pushed up the sleeve with his free hand. Let's see her talk her way out of that.
Once, Lucky had said something like 'the truth hurts'. Lying seemed to hurt a lot more. Mainly, lying about taking care of the injury, which she clearly hadn't. Something had definetly cut her though, be it a stick or a dagger. It ran only an inch or two down her arm, the top being deeper than the rest of it, indicating she'd probably jerked away with the weapon still in her arm. Taking all that into account, at least it wasn't bleeding.
"So I didn't clean it that well," she offered flatly, snorting. "Not like I could see what I was doing. It's still fine, though." Yes, that's good. Use the blind defense. That always worked with Yama. True, she was an idiot, but usually if she brought it up people got uncomfortable and left subjects alone. "It's not like I got punched in the eye or anything like some people."
"It's cleaned alright," Lyrus offered, but he was clearly upset--frowning, even if she couldn't see. Busy with examining the cut, he chose to disregard her attack on his eye. It was better now anyway, and he had gotten more than even. Jax's wrist would take longer than a few days to heal, that was for sure.
"You're lying," he decided after a moment, idly tracing a finger near the cut. A stick wouldn't do that. Blades were sharp and slick, and made near cuts like this--even if it was deeper in one place than the other. Sticks, on the other hand, were random and jagged, and would have likely torn up and scratches the skin around the cut itself, aside from making the cut much messier. Lyrus could see that difference. It wasn't hard to miss when you thought about it.
Releasing her arm, he took a step back and shrugged, shaking his head to get his hair out of his eyes. "So he did stab you." Lyrus was taking this far too calmly, seeming almost bored with the situation. "It's not all that bad, though. I'll make sure he pays for it."
"I don't want you to do that..." It was hard to believe Kilah was saying that, but she sounded plenty serious about the matter. Pulling her sleeve back down, she 'hm'ed thoughtfully, otherwise quiet for a decent amount of time. Finally she muttered, "I...think something was really wrong with him."
Not that she cared. Stupid Jax and his...stupid cat...and stuff. "He said weird stuff. Really weird." Recalling the situation exactly was hard, especially since she hadn't been expecting it at all. "Like, he said something about going after Jax once the grey kid hurt him. But...I'm sure that was Jax's voice." Maybe there was another Jax? Frowning, she lowered her head. "Even as mad as he was, I don't think..."
Besides, he'd went on that 'no hurt girl' rant right before she left!
It was all Lyrus could do to keep from replying with a blunt 'So?'. Jaxom, whom Lyrus hated, had tried to stab his best friend, and had succeeded to a degree, and now Kilah was telling him not to get revenge? The suggestion was laughable. Actually, Lyrus probably would have laughed if he wasn't annoyed with the whole situation. And the knowledge that Kilah cared if there was something wrong with Jax.
However, her explanation quirked some interest, and the boy raised a brow, eyeing her curiously for a moment before staring thoughtfully past her for the wall. "The 'gray kid' was me. Jax couldn't go after himself. It doesn't make sense. 'Course.." And he shrugged, returning his gaze to Kilah. "Jax doesn't seem the type to stab someone without warning either. He tries to act all noble and crap."
"Oh." Something told her she shouldn't have, but she felt stupid for forgetting that. A voice in her head argued it was fair she wouldn't remember what color the other Sin'aeis were, but she couldn't help feeling guilty. So, she'd caused Lyrus to hurt Jax too? Or maybe it was just because he didn't like him... Hopefully.
"You're right," she agreed in a mutter. "But it was his voice..." Had she caused him to go insane or something? There was no way THAT had happened. "The weirdest thing was..." When she thought about it, it probably was best just to stop here. She didn't need Lyrus thinking she was more insane than she sounded now.
Jax stabbing her, though? It DID sound crazy...
Lyrus hadn't meant to make her feel foolish; it was perfectly understandable that she might not see the connection. Seeing as it was hard for her to really affiliate with colors, let alone bother with remembering what color everyone was. Things like that didn't really matter anyway. Unless, you know, it gave you a point to work from for making fun of certain pink males.
"People can sound really alike.." Sometimes. But not that alike, normally. And this was Kilah, who knew people by voices. Odds were she wouldn't mix people up unless they were extremely close, and who would want to impersonate Jaxom anyway? "The weirdest thing was..." he prompted, waiting. She had said that much. If she didn't finish, he'd just have to pry it out of her.
"Not to me!" It wasn't as if she was hoping to start ANOTHER arguement, especially since they had just become the same age! She couldn't help but be a tiny bit offended that he'd doubt her ability to seperate one voice from another, though. It was one of the very few things she had to remember people by...
It was like those people who claimed they could never forget a face...only with voices. "The weirdest thing," she continued hesitantly, seeming annoyed by more than just his doubts now. Particularly, by how crazy this sounded even to her. "When he went to leave, I grabbed his hand." Try as she might to control, she couldn't help but blush at that thought. "You know, just to hold him back and ask what the hell was wrong with him. He...he didn't say anything, and I..don't think it was him when he left..."
It made no sense, but there was no other way she could think to explain it. "I think it was me..."
Lyrus blinked. Kilah had completely lost it. So, Jaxom had stabbed her, and then planned to attack himself after Lyrus had attacked him, and then when Kilah had tried to question him, turned into her? That was just too much to comprehend. And so, to distract himself, Lyrus inwardly grumbled about Kilah's blush. Apparently she hadn't gotten over Jaxom yet.
Not that he cared. She could be friends with whoever she wanted! So there.
"You know that makes no sense whatsoever, right?" He asked, returning his attention to the topic at hand. Without waiting for a reponse, he sighed and looked away, automatically pulling his newest knife from his pocket, flipping it open and closed while he thought. It was soothing. "Well, it wasn't Jax, and it wasn't you. But I don't know what could do something like that, so we can't really track it or anything to find out. We should set a trap for it."
"Yeah, but I'm worried that it'll go after Jax like it said it would, whatever it is..." Well aware she was probably annoying her friend as it was, even if he wouldn't admit it, she made her tone of voice forcefully harsher. "I mean, he'd deserve it being such a jerk and everything, but you might get blamed for it." Yeah, that's it. All she cared about.
Tilting her head to the left a little, she raised an eyebrow at the mention of a trap. "And how would that work?" If anything sounded crazy it was that. Somebody with the nerve to actually stab HER probably wasn't any push over...
"Jax'll be fine. He has that stupid talking cat." Atear, in fact, was the reason Jaxom's injury hadn't been considerably worse that morning. The kitten had slowed his fall, if not stopped it, and Jax escaped with only a slight break in his wrist. Damned cat. Kilah did have a point, though. "No one would care. I can do whatever I want now. Moo still doesn't remember my name, Banda's not gonna come home, I think, and the only other adults are Pod, who doesn't care, Scion, who I haven't seen in weeks either, and Kama, who stays in his room whenever he's home."
Sure, let someone blame him. Jaxom wouldn't blame him. Jax was too noble. Coen wouldn't blame him; Coen was an idiot. And even if Adroi did blame him, the snake-boy didn't talk and was too nice to do anything, so Lyrus could have cared less. Punishment was not something Lyrus was concerned with right now.
"It's simple," he replied in regards to the trap. Grinning faintly, he snapped his knife shut and shrugged. "We go along as if we didn't have this discussion. I hurt Jax for hurting you, and we just follow him around and make sure whatever that other guy was doesn't attack him afterwards. I think the three of us" and that cat "could take him."
"Lyrus, that's insane." It should've been obvious, but Kilah was going to have to point that out to him. For SOME reason, she couldn't help but think he just wanted an excuse to hurt Jax again, and his interest wasn't anywhere near catching whoever this person (or whatever this thing) was. "He wouldn't just let us follow him around after you maul his sorry a**! Besides---ACK!"
Thump! This time, it was Kilah getting glomped, not Lyrus. Like Lyrus, she did stumble back as a result, and soon enough fell over completely. "WARK!" The griff screeched loudly, tail wagging rapidly and nearly catching several things on fire. His wing had repaired itself quickly, apparently, as the bandages were no longer there.
"Giz..." Kilah chocked, making a feeble attempt to haul the heavy creature off her (she really needed to put him on a diet). "Need...air..."
"He wouldn't have to know we were following him!" Lyrus protested, practicalyl pouting. Damn, he had been looking forward to that, too. And, sure, there was the bonus that he would get to hurt Jaxom, and that was always a good thing, but Lyrus really did want to catch this...whatever it was. How dare it try and manipulate him! And by hurting Kilah, no less! Piece of crap.
He didn't so much as bat an eye with Gizmo's arrival, well used to the griff randomly turning up, even if it wasn't usually in such a manner. He offered it a faint grin, then slipped the closed knife back into his pocket and helps to haul the griff off Kilah. "It'd work if we did it right. Think about it."
Only when Lyrus was trying to push him off did he seem to take the hint. Tail still wagging, he casually stepped aside, and the poor lamb Sin'aeis was nearly knocked over for a second time. The overly-peppy griff was stronger than he looked. Or maybe just fat. Either way.
"How's your wing?" Kilah questioned before she bothered responding to Lyrus.
"Wark!" Gizmo chirped, then whined loudly, his tounge clucking against the top of his beak in what seemed to be a sympathetic noise.
"Aw, don't worry about!" Kilah assured him affectionately, reaching over and scratching his head roughly. "My eyes don't mean nothing compared to you, boy. They didn't even work."
That seemed to satisfy him as an answer, so the Sin'aeis focused on the other present again. "I have thought about it," she said sourly, making a face. "I'm still thinking you just want to stab him or something. We could easily just go and ask him about it, you know."
Lyrus stumbled sideways when the giff finally shifted, but his grip on Gizmo kept him upright until he was able to catch his balance. He followed the brief conversation from the girl to the griff and back, wondering how it was that Kilah could understand him. She had always been able to, he knew, but he had never really thought about it. Maybe it was something like with him and Vin.
Sighing heavily, Lyrus dropped down to sit on the floor beside Kilah. "Any excuse to stab Jax," he muttered, frowning. Then, blinking, he laughed and shook his head, smirking bitterly. "Ask him? You actually think Jaxom would talk to me after this morning? Besides, if someone were out to get him, I'm sure he'd let someone know. Moo or Pod."
"It's not like he would know." Ugh. And all this time she'd thought the problem she had reasoning with him was because he was younger. She couldn't really blame him, if it was Twila she'd feel the same way, but she chose to ignore that for now. "What, Giz?"
Half way into her sentence he'd nudged her hand, once he was sure he knew what they were talking about. "Wark," he offered, nodding to the side as if to demonstrate something. A pointless act when speaking to a blind girl, though he either hadn't noticed or just didnt' care.
"Hmm. Good point." Nodding her head, to herself it seemed, she cleared her throat and carefully said, "I think we should go see Jax."
"What's the point of talking to him if he won't know?" Gah, this was getting more and more ridiculous. And now she was talking to that stupid griffon again! ...Lyrus wished he could speak Gizmo. It would have been nice to know what they were saying.
He quickly settled for pouting until either of them acknowledged him again, his frown only deepening with Kilah's 'suggestion'. Muttering under his breath (something about how he shouldn't have to help, because he wasn't the one who liked Jax), he climbed to his feet and, without waiting for Kilah, started for the door. "Fine. We'll go see Jaxom. Damned cat boy can't take care of himself.." Muttermutter.
"You're such a good boy, Lyrus," Kilah joked slyly, grinning. "It's a wonder girls fall at the feet of your brother." Alright, now she was ASKING to get stabbed, but it was just too funny not to say. The laugh afterwards indicated she was joking, and, with Gizmo at her left, she walked along the other Sin's right, nudging him playfully. "Really though, I just don't want you in trouble. Even if you don't think so, you might." Also, that Banda guy could always come back...
Not that she knew anything about the guy, but from what she did he didn't seem like the type to just pick up and leave forever. Maybe he was being held prisoner or something, who could tell? Just as quickly as she'd begun her taunting, she was serious again. "Maybe you won't need to talk to him. Maybe he'll talk to me." Probably not...
Rolling his eyes, Lyrus made a rude hand gesture at Kilah, allowing himself a faint smirk at the fact that she couldn't see it and, therefore, couldn't get mad. Girls were more trouble than they were worth, as far as Lyrus was concerned. Look what had happened to Jaxom! He was much rather have girls as friends than anything more. For now, anyway.
"I didn't get in trouble this morning," he protested, but cracked a smile. Really, some bit of trouble wouldn't be all that unwelcome. At least it meant some adult in the household still remembered him. And even if Banda happened to come back, well... Lyrus was taller now. Banda wouldn't be bossing him around anymore. Bwaha.
"He'll sic his cat on us," Lyrus drawled, completely serious. "As soon as we knock, the cat'll answer the door and rip our heads off with its magic or something." Except that, as far as Lyrus knew, Atear couldn't do anything of that. The cat was for defense, and would only act out to defend or protect his bond. If Kilah had her way, they wouldn't actually be hurting Jaxom, so the cat wouldn't do a thing.
Gizmo had been keenly observing the two of them, and when Lyrus provided a certain 'hand gesture', he felt it only fair to alert those who couldn't see it themselves. "Wark..."
"Lyrus!" Kilah snapped, but sounded more amused than angry. What a little b*****d, she thought to herself, and noted they were probably friends even after all the fighting if only for that reason. Lucky said they were just too much alike. Kilah wasn't so sure.
In a matter of seconds, the gesture was completely forgotten. "If he hadn't hit you, I'd hope you wouldn't have just went and attacked him like that." Really, she wasn't sure. It was pretty funny. Stupid a*****e getting knocked out of a tree. ...Snicker. Trying to make the laugh less noticeable, she cleared her throat and then sighed. "I hate that stupid cat." That was without a doubt true. Even liking Jax, she hated that damn cat. Gizmo should eat it or something...
"Besides, Jax wouldn't hurt me." She'd asked him to and he wouldn't, so why would he now? It wasn't like she'd broken his wrist.
"Psh. Nobody's untouchable." That was something she'd stand by no matter what. That guy at the island had said the same thing. It was amazing what ripping your own eyes out to summon something could do, BUT that was another story... "Anyway, let's just go. You won't be so afraid of Sassy now, will you? You good to fly, Giz?"
"Wark!" Obviously a 'yes', even if you couldn't understand his bark/chirp noises. As they reached the outdoors, he carefully nudged Kilah in the proper direction to avoid smacking into the doorway.
Luck was on there side for now, as Sassy was just outside the doors, contently gnawing on a mouthful of grass she'd ripped from the ground. The flowers here tasted better. Kilah had been bringing the remains of the ones she killed to her. Spotting the two children, she bobbed her head in greeting and eyed Gizmo warily. Not the best of friends, those two.
"He might as well be..." Even assuming they could somehow get rid of the cat, Jaxmo would absolutely murder them if they did. There was no question of that. or, actually, Lyrus thought that Jax and the cat were somehow linked, if he remembered correctly... If the cat went, so did Jaxom. Which really wasn't a bad thing, but...
"I wasn't scared of Sassy," he protested defensively. "I was just worried about Adroi." And himself. And being hundreds of feet up. But the ride had been nice once he had gotten used to it, and he was looking forward to another try--especially now that he was bigger and could hold on better. He nodded politely in greeting to the pegasus once they reached her and waited until Kilah had mounted to climb up behind her, much more easily than the last time, looping his arms aruond her waist. "Ready when you are."
"Go on, Sassy." The pegasus seemed annoyed to be carrying the two of them again. Sure, the third one was missing this time, but the other was heavier now! Jeesh. Kilah leaned over toward her ear and whispered something in her protectors native language. Her tone was innocent enough, but the fact she had that sly grin on her face, and also that Sassy's eyes focused on Lyrus for a few seconds were a bit unsettling.
Soon enough, the group of four was in the air, Gizmo carefully flying along side them. His wings seemed to be doing much better, and by tomorrow he'd be able to carry Kilah around again. Stupid pegasus...
----
Unfortunately, whoever (or whatever) it was they needed to speak with Jax about, they were one step ahead of them. It sure looked like Kilah, the girl knocking on Jax's door. Her arm was bleeding toward the top, but she seemed unphased by it. "Jax? Are you in there?"
As he watched Kilah and Sassy's 'exchange', there was a brief moment where Lyrus' paranoid side kicked in and told him they were planning to toss him to his death while they were in the air. And then common sense beat away the paranoia, and Lyrus relaxed once more to enjoy the ride as well as he could, eyes wandering the earth as it passed below them...arms just a bit tighter than perhaps appropriate around Kilah's waist.
----
Jaxom wasn't in the best of moods. Even with him half out of it from pain medications, his wrist continued to throb off and on; He would repeatedly swear that it was worse than that stupid doctor had made it out to be. Add to the fact that NO ONE seemed to care, and you had one very sulky Guardian. Thus, when there was a knock on the door, followed by Kilah's voice, rather than be upset, he jumped up and hurried over to greet her, though managed to affect a bored air before answering the door. "What're you doing here?"
"You know, that was kind of cute as a little kid. Cutting my air supply off and all." It seemed like a moment to roll her eyes, but since she couldn't she just settled for sounding sarcastic. "But we're the same age now." One hand still clutching Sassy's mane, she reached the other down and grasped one of his hands. "Either admit you're afraid or loosen your damn grip." Boys. So stubborn.
---
"I was meeting Lyrus," she explained slowly, blushing a bit. "But, uh, he said he hurt you..." Any attempts to sound as if she didn't care clearly weren't working. She managed to sound more curious than concerned in her questioning, though. "Does it hurt a lot?"
"I'm not scared," he muttered, and gradually eased his grip, holding on just enough to keep himself from losing his balance. Jeez. It wasn't his fault they were plotting to toss him off midway. Not that they were, he reminded himself. But there was always the possibility. "If you could see how high we are, your grip'd be tighter too."
----
Jaxom was silent for a moment, eyeing her somewhat suspiciously, but then he stepped back and murmured a 'Come in', gesturing her into his room. Once she had entered, he closed the door and returned to sitting on his giant beanbag, holding his hurt wrist with his good hand. "Not as bad as when it happened, but a bit. I have to take some nasty medicine. It's helping, though... What happened to your arm?"
"Sure..." His last words made her wince a bit. Maybe, but the fact was she couldn't. Suddenly, Kilah found herself pondering how easy Lyrus was to scare up here. He was far from the worrier, if you asked her opinion, but...
Might as well test the theory out. "Sassy-" The name was followed by unusual sounding words in the same language she'd spoken in earlier. The pegasus didn't respond, but had apparently understood.
Cranking her head back, Kilah stuck her tounge out at the boy before pulling his arms away and falling off their current ride. She didn't fall far, though, before Gizmo swooped down below her and caught her on his own back. Luckily, his wings were as repaired as she'd guessed. "Guess I wouldn't have done that either, huh?"
----
"That's good." It wasn't a Kilah-like thing to do, but she did smile a little. Unlike the first visit, she wasn't nearly as nervous, but still didn't move to sit down. "My arm...?" Her voice trailed off, recovering quickly with, "Oh! My arm! My sister was...in a mood..." Yeah, that'd work.
Ah ha, here they went with the plotting again. Lyrus' eyes narrowed as Kilah spoke in some language he didn't know, and he went on his guard when she craned her head back and stuck out her tongue at him. However, what followed was the absolute last thing he expected. As Kilah slid off, Lyrus slid forward, grabbing hold of Sassy's mane with one hand and nearly sliding off the pegasus himself as he reached after his friend. "Ki--"
And Gizmo had caught her. Lyrus should have seen that coming. Scowling, he pulled himself straight and took a firm hold on Sassy's mane, snapping over at Kilah. "You nearly gave me a heart attack! What if Gizmo had missed?!"
----
"Ahh.. I know what that's like." Jaxom scowled, thoughtfully rubbing his wrist, then sighed and slumped down in his seat, eyeing her curiously. "You're alright, I hope? I'm surprised to see you here at all, actually. You seemed pretty mad last time."
"You hear that, Gizmo?" The Sin'aeis whined fakely, her pout no more real than her tone of voice. "He doesn't trust you!" The griff whined, and it was certainly and more believeable act then Kilah was putting on.
Laughing loudly, the girl stretched her arms above her head and then tucked them behind her. "I guess you'd feel pretty bad then, huh?" Grinning again, she swayed back and forth a little as if challenge gravity. "Do you wanna try it?" They had time.
-----
"Oh, well..." Well damn, this wasn't as easy as it seemed when it was planned out. Of course, it wasn't nearly as challenging as one could hope for. "I guess I was just in a bad mood." She shrugged, and the fact it caused more blood to seep through her jacket went completely unnoticed. "I mean, I'm still pissed at you and everything, but that doesn't mean I want you to fall and break your neck or anything..."
Did he want to try it? Conspiracy theories were blaring through Lyrus' head. he would jump, and they would let him fall. It had been planned this way all along! But, no, this was Kilah, and they were getting along great again. She had no reason to want to off him. Yeah. "Can Gizmo carry us both? Who'd catch me?"
Free fall did look really cool.
----
Her bloody arm was a little unnerving to Jaxom, who had never liked the sight of blood to begin with, but it didn't seem to be bothering Kilah, so he let it slide. Instead, he sighed and fixed his eyes on her blindfold, shrugging. "I think that might have been Lyrus' intention, actually. But Atear slowed my fall, so I only broke my wrist instead... Guess that was enough, though, eh?"
"Of course he can!" Kilah insisted, motioning with one hand toward her friend. As long as his wing was alright he could catch them both, she was sure of it, and Gizmo himself was, too. "Just don't fall on me!" Warned the girl, snorting.
---
"Well, I'm not gonna say you didn't deserve something, you are an a** and all." Edging toward his voice slightly, she suddenly seemed nervous like the first time. Odd, she'd seemed so calm only a few seconds ago. "I thought you'd be angrier with me..."
To trust or not to trust? Lyrus had never been very trusting of anyone. And for the rare few he had trusted, something usually happened to betray that trust: Kilah and Jax, Banda leaving and forgetting about him, etc. And yet...Kilah was one of his best friends. Kilah, Lyrus, and Mignon. And if Lyrus was going to trust anyone, it would be Kilah. Especially now that they were friends again. After a moments hesittion, the boy released Sassy's mane and shoved himself sideways off the pegasus. Free fall.
---
"I don't hold grudges," Jaxom explained with a shrug, returning his eyes to her with a smile. "I don't see any point in it. Unless it's something really, really bad. But it just gets in the way other times, and, like you said, you were in a bad mood. Everyone has bad days. And now we're talking like normal and things are fine."
It hadn't even crossed Kilah's mind to let him fall. Really, if she'd been out to get him that wouldn't be the route to take. Face-to-face stabbing was much more her style. Just as swiftly as he'd caught Kilah, Gizmo maunevered in the air again, seeming pleased when Lyrus fell behind the other Sin'aeis, who burst into laughter again. "See? You were afraid for NOTHING!"
Mental note: Kid Lyrus = way better than Toddler Lyrus.
---
..Jeesh, what a b*****d. What did she even see in him? Those were the inner thoughts, but outwardly Kilah nodded slowly. "Yeah, I guess so." How easily she walked over and sat beside him made him seem impossible she'd be blind. Odd... "So, um...I wanted to ask you..."
And he was safe. Perched awkwardly on Gizmo's back behind Kilah, watching the world pass below them. Coolest thing ever. Lyrus was extremely tempted to jump off the griff, too, but thought better of it and grinned. "I wasn't scared. I was being sane. If I had been that scared, Iwouldn't have jumped." Unless, of course, she had dared him. Honor demanded that Lyrus never turn down a dare. Almost never, anyway.
---
Had Jaxom been thinking completely straight, he probably would have thought how easily she navigated his room strange. As it was, his brain was somewhat fuzzy from paid medications, and he couldn't have cared less. That probably allowed for his cheery mood as well, actually. Normal Jax would have been a bit more defensive, at least. But that didn't matter right now. "Ask me..? Hmm?"
"If we drag the other pegasus out of the barn, and get my other griffons we can make a game of this or something." Mafia leader or not, Kilah was still a kid, and games were very appealing. Games that involved life-or-death stunts, or violence, were the prefered type. "I don't know if Mignon would be willing to fall or not, we might just have to push her the first few times."
---
Kilah's face now matched the color of her hair almost, a bright shade of pink. "Um, is your cat here?" The way she asked made it clear she didn't want him here, and suggested that want for anyone aside from Jax and herself. The boy didn't seem to be thinking clearly, but that was fine by her...
"Sounds like a plan." Lyrus grinned. Skydiving was officially his new favorite sport. If it counted as a sport. Then again, Lyrus didn't care for any other sports. He could probably be decent in a few if he wanted to, but they were so dull. Skydiving, now... That was a rush. "I think Mignon'd do it. If we did it first, anyway, and the griffs caught us and all. She's nice, but she's no wuss."
---
"Atear?" Jaxom blinked, then quirked a brow, eyeing her almost suspiciously. Why did it matter if Atear was here? Jaxom would just tell him about whatever happened later. But Kilah was blushing, and apparently would rather if no one else knew... Which meant it would likely be excellent blackmail somethings later on. He shook his head. "He went hunting, I think. He likes to stalk the Fourth Floor shadows."
"Mm." It was all Kilah would say on the subject past the suggestion. She would b***h thoughtlessly about one's like Yukito, and always, always Aard, but when it came to speaking about Mignon with Lyrus and vice versa it just seemed...awkward. "Alright, I think we should hurry now." For some reason, she suddenly had a really bad feeling...
---
"Oh, that's good." With the news the stupid feline wasn't present, she seemed to lighten up to the point of being cheerful. A bit odd when it came to Kilah, but certainly not unheard of. "You still like me, don't you?" Well, so much for being shy about it...
Lyrus was inclined to argue, much more interested in finding a way to get back on Sassy mid-air so he could attempt another, longer jump. But oh well. The sooner they got home, the sooner they could kick this thing's butt, and the sooner they could go back to skydiving. "Might as well. We're almost there, anyway. I can see it up ahead..."
---
"Not really," he replied, completely honest. "Not like before anyway." Then, deciding this might be deemed offensive, continued. "I mean, as a friend or something, yeah, but I don't want to be your boyfriend or anything. Not after that day at the Sin'aeis place. And besides, you have a fiance. Unless he doesn't want you anymore either." Snerk.
Hearing that, Kilah sighed in relief. She'd been hoping Lyrus would tell her when they were closer. Not that she was worried about Jax or anything, the idiot. Before she knew it, Gizmo was landing, and the reassuring thud of hooves on ground informed her Sassy was as well. "Lead the way. Gizmo'll have to stay out here. He might catch something on fire."
He'd been bad about doing that lately.
---
While one would've expected her to be furious, the Sin'aeis giggled, brushing a few strands of hair from her face. "Wow, you are an a*****e, aren't you?" In the blink of an eye, she'd pulled the blind fold off, and yellow eyes then peered at Jax bitterly. "I guess that's why she didn't seem so surprised when I stabbed her as you."
Immediately after landing Lyrus slid to the ground, and started for the door with only a 'Follow me'. Again, the sooner the got there, the sooner they could be done with it. Still, the House was BIG, and from where they had landed (near the back door), it would be a bit of a walk to get to Jax's room. Assuming, of course, that Lyrus didn't just take the short way up the back stairs. Lyrus had always hated those stairs.
---
"Only some of the time," Jax replied with a smirk. However, it faltered somewhat she she removed the blindfold, eyes holding hers for a moment. Not only were they there, but...could she see? He didn't bother to ask; he following comment brushed the thought from his mind. "Stabbed her as me? What're you talking about? ...At that, who are you?"
"Slow down!" It was true she was bossy. She'd even admit it. She'd also claim it was for good reason, that she was right and anyone who said other wise was wrong. With Lyrus, and with Mignon, she tried not to demand things nearly as much. In situations like these it was hard. This little trip had gone from free falling off pegasus to something more serious. Lyrus didn't seem worried, and Kilah was positive she wasn't either, but she couldn't shake the feeling they'd end up with more problems than just getting Jax to talk to them...
---
"Akilah, of course," she said. The grin on her face didn't make it the least bit believeable. Tossing the blindfold carelessly off to the side, she stretched her arms above her head. At least she had some of her mannerisims, that was a habit Kilah seemed to have. "I stabbed the first one. She's a b***h. It's a wonder you two are bickering so much. Now then-" There was a pause in her words long enough for a yawn. "-they're coming here. What do you plan to do about that?"
"You were the one who said we could hurry," Lyrus countered, but slowed down nonetheless. He wasn't in any hurry. Let Jax die for all he cared. The only pain that would cause him was when Calt's passing would upset Vin. Firelizards, no matter how badly they got along, mourned the loss of one of their kind for days. And with Calt as the 'senior' flitt of the House...it was bound to be annoying. "It's not all that much farther anyway."
---
"I'm sure you are," he drawled sarcastically, rolling his eyes. Mannerisms or not, this was most certainly not Kilah, nor would she ever convince him that she was. Especially considering her following statement admitted she had stabbed the real one. Jaxom frowned only faintly, and after a moment shrugged and climbed to his feet, idly pacing towards the window. "Do I have to do something about that? Why should I care if they're coming here? I don't have to let them in, just like I don't have to let you stay in. Go stab someone or something. You seem to like doing that."
"We should, but I can't," Kilah informed him, annoyed. She'd like nothing more than to rush to Jax's door, somehow knock it down, run in the room and beat the life out of him. Guardian cat be damned. The fact she couldn't was probably a good thing.
---
"Hmm." The girl got to her feet, a thoughtful look across her face. Soon, that became a challenging grin, and as swift as Kilah herself would've been able to, she pulled the dagger seemingly from no where and headed towards the door. "You know," she muttered, chuckling. "I think I'll go and do that."
---
By now, the Sin'aeis was beginning to wonder if this had been the best idea. If only Twila hadn't said anything... More importantly, what if, somehow, it had been Jax? She'd have to kill, it was only a matter of justice! But then Lyrus would suffer somehow, which was something she was trying hard to avoid...
"Hey, you two!" A voice called. A familiar one. Just as they were about to reach Jax's room, she came to stand infront of them, blonde pigtails and all. "Wow, I didn't think you'd come!" The look-a-like Mignon giggled, clapping her hands approvingly. "This isn't going to bother you, is it?"
Jaxom really hadn't expected that, but anything to get her out of his room. Turning, he watched her go, then stepped over and locked the door behind her, returning to his closet and withdrawing a short spear-like weapon from it before simply relaxing on his beanbag to await Atear's return. Just in case, mind. He wasn't worried. Or scared.
----
"Mignon?" She was certainly one of the last people Lyrus expected to see here. Not that it was bad, mind, but... Wait up. She hadn't commented on his growth! Lyrus was instantly on his guard, but did his best not to show it, smiling in greeting to the imposter, and managing to look more curious than confused with her words. "Hi! Er... Bother us?"
Did he seriously buy that? Blind people were stupid, Kilah realized. On second thought, maybe he was playing along with it. That wouldn't get them anywhere but stabbed to death and probably dumped in a river. "You're not Mignon," she pointed out, trying to sound bored. "She doesn't giggle like that."
The other girl seemed dissapointed. "Wow, you're both smart, aren't you? Well, at least observant, I'd hardly considering either of you intelligent." Her eyes peered at Lyrus, than Kilah, as if wondering how easy they'd both be killed. Coming from someone who looked like Mignon, and had stabbed Kilah and gotten away with it, it was undeniablely at least slightly creepy...
"Which of you wants to die first, hm? We could go outside if you want. I'd hate to get blood all over this pretty house! Unless you want to give me what you stole."
"Way to waste the situation, Kilah," Lyrus muttered under his breath, knowing full well that she could hear him, and knowing just as well that 'Mignon' couldn't. Not that it mattered at this point. Completely ignoring half of what she said, Lyrus busied himself with trying to figure out what exactly this...something was. First it had been Jaxom, then Kilah, and now Mignon? Lyrus had heard of shapeshifters, true, but how would one know to turn into these people? At that, why did it care at all?
"Neither of us stole anything," Lyrus murmured, rolling his eyes. "The only places I ever go anymore are this House and the mansion, and Kilah.." He paused, considering. Kilah went all over the place. Um. "Kilah doesn't steal," he finished, nodding defiantly. She had never stolen to his knowledge, anyway. Lyrus himself had no qualms about stealing. It made shopping that much more interesting. But, as he had said, he hadn't stolen anything in a while, let alone been out of the house where he could do so.
"You do have it!" The stranger snapped. The angry look and the temper itself didn't suit Mignon. The voice didn't, either, though only Kilah was likely to notice the difference so keenly. "Don't play dumb with me, boy, give it back to me or I'll have your eyes gauged out to." It was quite clear she'd carry through with that, and held the dagger up as much more than a mere display.
Whatever she wanted, she was damn positive one of them had it.
Kilah growled slightly, another bad habit the currently nameless person had come to mimic when acting as her. Reaching her hand out, she caught Lyrus's arm and pulled him roughly behind her. In situations like these, Kilah was either going to pull someone behind her or push them infront. Normally the 'kill them!' would've been the solution.
It was a shame this thing decided to show when she was with Lyrus instead of Yukito or Aard.
"Look, b***h, whatever you want, we don't have it."
Lyrus was thinking up a retort of his own when he was rudely tugged behind Kilah. For only a moment, the boy seemed surprised, but almost immediately that changed to absolute fury. He knew Kilah just didn't want him to get hurt, but he wasn't some baby anymore. He was taller than she was! If only a tad. He should be the one protecting her!
Fingering his knife, Lyrus stepped back to Kilah's side, shotting her a quick glare, even if she couldn't see it, before returning his attention to the imposter Mignon. Still scowling, and hiding the closed knife in his palm, he lifted his hands and folded his arms across his chest. "No one's taken anything. Get out of my house."
It was Kilah's turn to be surprised when his voice was sudden beside her. Though...not that surprised. She assumed he'd be stubborn about it, but now wasn't the time for it! "Lyrus..." It sounded like more of a one-word warning than a name.
"You do have it!" The girl repeated, cletching her teeth together as well as her fists. "You have it, I know it's here!" Her threats and such were quickly beginning to seem like more of a temper tantrum. "You want me to leave? Fine! But then I'm taking something that belongs to you until you decide to give it back to me, boy! Someone in this house has it!"
Lifting an arm, she pointed toward Kilah and hissed. "I want that. One or the other. I'm not leaving with nothing. And if you still won't give it back, I'll hurt your brother. Trust me, it'll be more than a stab in the arm, too!"
Lyrus' only response to Kilah was to nudge her with one elbow. Now was not the time for them to get in a 'Who's the boss' battle. At least he had enough tact to not shove her behind him. Besides, they had almost gotten this whatever it was to leave. All they had to do was give it something! Something of his, sadly, but he could replace it eventually, he was sure. When 'Mignon' pointed to Kilah, however, he blinked, frowning faintly as he glanced sideways at his friend. She didn't have anything of his, did she?
...Nope. Not that he could see, anyway. Unless she had stolen something from him too!? ...Beating back the following conspiracy theory, Lyrus shook his head and returning his eyes to Mignon. However, even as he opened his mouth to reply, it clicked.
"No." He snapped immadiately. Absolutely not. it was one thing to give up a possession, quite another to give up a friend. Besides, that would be Kilah protecting him again. For once, Lyrus wanted to be the protector. Turning to Kilah, he set one hand on her shoulder, flashing a grin. "You find whatever the crap this thing wants, alright? Jax'll help, juts tell him what's going on." Without waiting for a reply, he glanced back to Mignon and quirked a brow. "I'll come with you. She'll find your whatever. No one gets to stab Jax but me."
"Lyrus!" Kilah was nearly screaming at him. The way her hands twitched made it seem like she'd reach out and slap him. What a stupid idea! Did he MISS the part where this thing had STABBED her?! "I won't let you! She'll kill you!"
"Hey now!" 'Mignon' piped up defensively. "It's not very nice to you just assume I'll kill someone! I'll give you a few hours to get what you stole from me before I even think of doing that." Grinning, she placed on hand on her hip, glancing Lyrus over. "You can come with me if you put that weapon down you're hiding, cutie." Laughing loudly, she added, "Guess you've gotten use to this, huh, Kilah? Guy's leaving you, that is."
"Why you little b***h!" Kilah hissed, reaching back for her own dagger.
"You better not," the other warned seriously. "You can't help him and the other one, can you? Unless you favor one quite a bit over the other, I'd suggest you stop."
Better me than you, Lyrus wanted to say, but he held his tongue. Poor Kilah had one through enough, one thing after another, and she had only just lost her eyes. Regardless of the fact that they didn't work, no one should have to endure that. Explaining it to Kilah that way would likely just make her protest even more, though. So he held his silence.
Scowling faintly, he made as if to drop the knife, but thought better of it and turned back to Kilah, grabbing her hand and setting the folded blade in it before she could protest further. "Do not lose my knife," he hissed, then released her hand and stepped back, muttering a 'Good luck' before turning back to 'Mignon'. He nodded. "Whenever you're ready."
"Yeah, alright..." What else was she suppose to say? Figures. The one time she'd doubted Lucky, who had said they were just too much alike, she ended up being right anyway. Since that seemed to be the case, Lyrus obviously wasn't going to listen. Because she wouldn't have. "Don't die. Mignon might cry. I don't want to deal with that." She was worried for him, but she really meant that last part.
"Such a good boy!" Mignon cooed affectionately, taking his hand and pulling him past Kilah, back outside. "Ahh! Fresh air! It's so nice, isn't it? Anyway! Let's get going! You're going to be sooo excited when we get there!" Winking playfully, her grasp on his hand tightened, and with a small 'pop' and a hardly noticeable flash of light, the pair suddenly found themselves somewhere completely different.
The room was simple, which meant the ones past the two doors to their left probably weren't. The floor and walls were stone, and obviously old with no funiture to speak of. "Now, you two play nice!" She chirped, motioning toward someone sitting along the wall. "She'll be your room-mate for the last few hours of your life!"
From across the room came a hiss, and the earlier mentioned figure stood, glaring. "You're KIDDING me?" Noharu snapped.
---
Back at the house, Kilah had yet to move. This was...a serious problem. But Jax...talking to Jax would be hard. Besides, what help could he provide with his wrist broken? Maybe his stupid cat could do something. Taking in a deep breath, she mentally slapped herself and called loudly, "JAXOM! Get your sorry a** out here!"
"I won't," Lyrus promised, grinning. "Just find the thing." And then Mignon-imposter was pulling him back the way they had come, outside onto the lawn. Before he had a chance to reply, they had vanished, and he was far too disoriented by the new location to care much about answering her. He looked around the barren room without much interest, failing to even notice Noharu until the woman spoke.
And there went whatever lasting bit of happiness there might have been. Scowling, Lyrus stepped away from imposter-Mignon and walked over to the wall opposite Noharu, sinking down to sit on the floor and shooting her a glare. Dammit, and he didn't even have his knife. "Don't think I'm happy with the situation."
---
Jaxom had been expecting some sort of shout for a while now. Of course, when he heard Kilah's voice, he wasn't terribly sure if he should trust it or not. After all, it might be that other Kilah. ...Somehow he doubted it. With his spear-thing still held in his left hand, he returned to the door and left his room, walking the short distance down the hall to Kilah. Nope, this was the real one--the other had forgotten its blindfold in his room. "What happened?"
One might've expected a threat. Infact, no one would put it past her to lash out without so much as that. The fact she did neither was a bit surprising, and what followed even more so. "Just watch your mouth, brat, I don't want her picking up any of the bad words I'm sure that little chicken brat has taught you." Substituing 'b***h' for 'brat? What was the occassion?
Nothing more than a girl, and a nervous one at that. She was younger than Lyrus, four at the most. Her bat wings and ears twitched nervously as she clutched her white dress. My, my, someone was nervous. Oddly enough, Noharu didn't seem the cause of it.
After a moment longer of leering unblinkingly at the Sin'aeis, the teenager sat back down, reaching over and patting the bat girl on the head. "It's alright. You'll be okay."
---
"None of your business." Only a few days ago, Jax had said she couldn't protect Lyrus forever. Her response had been 'watch me', a challenge that declared she could. If such was possible, she planned to try. No one she gave a damn about was going to get slaughtered if she had something to say about it. Not Gizmo. Not Mignon. And, for now, not Lyrus. "I need you to watch this for me." She waved the weapon Lyrus had left with her. "And don't let anyone take it."
Lyrus quirked a brow, but said nothing, and, after a minute of watching the bat girl, simply nodded and relaxed back against the wall. So, Noharu actually cared about something? Well, this day was just full or surprises. Nonetheless, Lyrus wasn't in the mood for a fight and, if those two had been here for as long as he imagined, he pitied the bat girl. Not Noharu, of course.
But, given the situation, he could at least try and get some answers. Closing his eyes and feigning boredom, he moved both hands to pillow his head against the wall, yawning before speaking. "So, where are we, anyway? And, er...who was that thing? Or what, even?"
---
Jaxom accepted the weapon, but frowned, eyeing it warily. This was Lyrus' knife. New, yes, but Jaxom recognized it--he had seen Lyrus threatening Coen earlier. Not that Lyrus had intended to actually hurt Coen, he thought, but still. "Lyrus wouldn't just give up this knife," he muttered, quirking a brow at Kilah. "And he'd throw a fit if he knew you gave it to me to take care of. What's going on?"
"I'm not sure where we are." The answer sounded honest enough. It was common knowledge for those who knew (and usually hated) her only one of her eyes was functioning, and that single one never edged away from the toddler beside her even the slightest. "Her name's Kajisha, I think. She's been ranting about something for a while. Something about a jewel or gem. A blue one, I think. Says it's been handed off to somebody."
As if suddenly realizing there had to be a reason she was now stuck here with someone high up on her shitlist, she raised an eyebrow and, "What are you doing here anyway?"
---
"Nothing that would concern you." She sounded it, but the words weren't just to be a b***h. Why would Jax care? He didn't like Lyrus, she knew that much. After that arguement a few days ago, no way he was concerned with her either. She decided he was just nosey. "Just keeping my word, Jaxom. Do I have yours you'll watch that?"

Oddly enough, he believed her. She had no reason to lie, after all. Though why she was here, he had no idea. As far as he knew, that imposter thing had no reason to drag her here. Unless she had been the one to steal this...crystal, she had said? But she didn't seem to know much about that either, so it was unlikely.
She had given her an explanation, he would give her one. Lyrus shrugged. "She seems to think me or Kilah stole her, er...gem, I guess. She was threatening to hurt Jax, not that I care, and was gonna take Kilah here until we could find the gem. But I came in her place, 'cause..." He shrugged and left it at that. It was enough. "I don't think I've seen any blue gems recently."
---
"You're handing me my brother's knife, which he would not part with lightly, and it doesn't concern me?" Scowling, Jaxom pocketed the knife and started to turn away, but shook his head and tightened his grip on the spear, returning his gaze to Kilah. "I can't just stand by. Give me an honest explanation, and maybe I'll take care of the knife. What's going on? And why do you have this?"
"Jax?" Noharu repeated curiously. The situation was a serious one, so laughing suddenly like she didn't quite seem appropriate. "You mean that boy who likes Akilah? You've got to tell me what's wrong with that boy." How Noharu had heard such things wasn't something Lyrus probably wouldn't know, but he would be able to see how much it amused her.
Someone liking that little b***h at all was amazing, but liking her like that? There just weren't any words for it! "Where's Akilah, then? Did she get killed already?"
---
His questions were annoying. Really annoying. Couldn't he just agree to watch the damn knife and leave her alone?! "Well, Jax, don't watch it then. It's no blood out of my veins when Lyrus finds out you lost it. Sure, he'll be mad at me, but as long as he's alive that's just fine."
Shoving her hand in her pocket, she pulled out one gem, then another, and another. The shapes were slightly different, probably how Kilah told them apart. "If you must know, there's a clone or something running around. Lyrus is an idiot. You know, kind of like you. So, he agreed to go with the dumb thing so she wouldn't take me instead. Now, I have to go save his a**, and there's an extremely annoying boy making me waste time explaining it. Any OTHER questions?"
"Yeah, him," Lyrus snapped, suddenly wondering why he had bothered to protect Jaxom in any way. "He's just a p***k," he hissed, folding his arms across his chest with a scowl. Bloody pink-haired son of a house cat. Lyrus was beginning to hope they wouldn't fine the gem, just so that shape-shifter girl could come back and murder Jax after she killed him. Good stuff. "Kilah's looking for the gem."
---
Jax raised a brow, staring at Kilah in open confusion. Lyrus did something nice? Something that didn't involve him looking out for only himself? Well, that was a one in a million chance. Even if it was to keep Kilah safe. There was a brief moment where Jaxom considered returning to his room and laughing when Lyrus died, but he quickly decided against it. Lyrus had been nice for once, he could do the same. "Yeah, I met the clone. She was pretending to be you. What does she want? I'm going to help."
"Oh, is that what you think she'll do?" Noharu laughed again. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Wasn't that the saying? Maybe that's why she seemed positive she knew the Sin'aeis better than her little friend here. "And even if she does, did you ever stop to think what the b***h wants the gem for? Do you know what will happen if she gets it?"
---
"HA! Like hell you are!" Kilah raised her injured arm and waved a hand as if it dismissed the subject. Her other held a total of five gems, each of which she dropped. They clanked loudly on the floor, and once settled there lit up. The music began as it had once before. "Go away now, I need to focus or I'll mess up." And who knew what would happen then...
Lyrus scowled, reopening his eyes to shoot Noharu a glare, but remained silent. Kilah would find the gem and get him out of here. He was sure of it. And then the conspiracy theories set it...But, NO. he wouldn't believe it this time. The boy blocked his thoughts to the various plots plaguing his brain, instead focusing on what the girl would do with the gem when she got it. True, he hadn't thought about it, but gems weren't the most threatening of things, generally speaking. Right? Right. Harmless.
---
"No. I want to help." He didn't sound completely genuine; his interest was on the gems right now, not the situation. Shiny musical things. Jaxom liked them. He quirked a brow, watching the gems curiously, but finally pulled his eyes away and glanced back to Kilah. "What's she looking for?"
"STOP IT! LET ME GO! RULER AND KIKI WILL BE MAD AT YOU FOR THIS!" Following the loud screeches, one of the two doors creeked upon, and slammed shut once the girl was tossed inside. Aggravted, she sat on the ground and pounded her fists on it a few times before realizing anyone else was there.
First, she examined Karoko and Noharu, who didn't seem to hold her interest for long. Next, Lyrus, who was a completely different story. "HEEEEY!" With the sudden yelp, the tanned girl launched toward Lyrus, stopping only an inch or so infront of him. The fox ears tangled messily in her purple hair twitched, her tail swaying. "I remember you! You're Kiki's friend! Ooh!"
With no respect for personal space, she reached up and pulled on his hair lightly as if to confirm it was real. "And you have hair now! It's a pretty color! It matches that gem I gave you!"
---
"Well, if it's an annoying, nosey boy, maybe you should come along!" Sarcastic and then some. The music stopped, as did the glowing, the gems lying motionless on the floor. "Look, the last spell I cast, I ended up with this." She motioned to the blindfold carelessly. "This one, if I get it wrong, might just kill me. While I'm aware you don't care, you can at least be decent enough to go away."
Lyrus' eyes turned towards the door as the shouts began. He quirked a brow, watching boredly as the girl was uncerimoniously dumped inside. She looked somewhat familiar... The boy actually jumped slightly when she pratically dove atop him, straightening up against the wall and eyeing her warily. Now he remembered her. Oh, goody. Sighing, he relaxed someone, eyes idly following her hand towards his hair. "Yeah, I did, and--"
He froze, mouth dropping open. No way was it that simple. In an instant he was on his feet, nearly bowling the girl over as he stepped past her, running a hand through his hair while he paced the room. What had he done with that damned crystal?! And how was he going to let Kilah know? "It's your fault we're in this mess," he suddenly snapped, whirling on the girl. Then, sighing, he turned away and resumed his pacing. Dammit, where had he put that gem? It had been too big to fit in his treasure box...
---
Jaxom scowled, but the threat was enough that he backed off. He didn't know what she was doing, but he certainly didn't want her to die in the process. Nodding slightly, he took a step back, then turned and headed back down the hall towards his room. "But only until you're done with...whatever you're doing. I'm going to help. Somehow."
"WHAT?! You mean you've got it and forgot?! You stupid little b***h!" Well, so much for not cursing. Bad Noharu. The bat girl beside her jumped, clutching to her guardian's arm despite her being the source of the startling yell. The older of the two fox demons present growled, watching the boy pace.
The younger of them looked hurt by the accusation, then confused. "What do you mean, lamby lamb? Those people are after you? Don't worry! They went away to get somebody. Um, a boy and a girl. Yup!"
---
Kilah said nothing. All she had to do was wait and hope. Wait until the idiot walked into his room, and then hope this damn spell would work. All she needed was--
The screech from outside broke her thoughts, two of the five gems suddenly shattering, apparently a reaction of the spell being canceled. "Gizmo?!" Who would even know where they are?!
"She gave it to me!" Lyrus argued defensively, jabbing a finger accusingly at the girl. "It's...It's on my shelf," he decided, slowly lowering his hand. he had to have put it there. it wouldn't fit in his treasure box, but it was a pretty gem.. He wouldn't have hidden it away. "It has to be there. They..They'll find it, and we'll be out of here in no time." He brightened up somewhat, but it was clearly forced. Jaxom wouldn't think to look in Lyrus' room and, somehow, he doubt Kilah would as well.
His 'smile' fading, he glanced back to the girl, confused. "They went to get... but they were giving Kilah time to find it!" He shouted to no one in particular. Snarling, he stalked over to the door, banging loudly on it. "We need to get out of here and help. Or at least get to the gem first." Okay, so knocking was useless. End stupid moment. Calming somewhat, Lyrus set about inspecting the door for any weakness...
---
Jaxom jumped visably at the sound of the shattering gems, whirling around to see what had happened. The sight wasn't very informative. Screw the spell--he doubted she could cast it without those gems anyway. He quickly returned to her side, holding his spear in his uninjured hand. "What'd Gizmo say?"
"You can't go out there, little lamb!" The girl wailed loudly, dashing over and grabbing the hand he was pounding on the door with, attempting to pull him back. "Be quiet or they'll bring Her here! She does bad things! She'll hurt you!"
---
"Somebody's outside." Kneeling down, she brushed her hand along the ground. One...two...three. Hm, five seemed the minimum for most of these damn spells to work, but she could manage if she tried hard enough. Back on her feet, the three gems remaining in tact burst into life again. "I'm going out there, too. Go back in your room and stay there."
Scowling, Lyrus tugged his hand free. "We have to get out there and help Kilah." And Jaxom. Maybe notsomuch Jaxom. But oh well. "Something tells me if there...er...the people get to that gem first, they won't be letting us out of here any time soon." If at all. "It's worth the risk." Still scowling faintly, he turned back towards the door. Maybe he could pick the lock...?
----
"Yeah, right." Jaxom rolled his eyes, forgetting she couldn't see. "I've already told you I'm going to help, and I'm going to help. Atear says he'll meet us outside." Exactly when Atear had said this, Jaxom didn't bother to point out. The kitten had, and that was all that mattered. "Let's go."
Sighing in defeat, the girl moved to the side and from then on seemed content to observe. At the same time, she was convinced Lyrus wouldn't be able to do too much. For a place that lacked technology, they sure made good locks. "Little lamb should just sit down," she finally said softly, ears low. "They'll hurt Kiki and the other one. We can't do anything..."
---
"Piss off, Jax." It was all Kilah had time to say before the song ended. The remaining gems and the Sin'aeis vanished. She must've been lucky, because that spell had worked for the second time. Just transported outside the house, not another time or anything.
When something suddenly knocked her over, she changed her tune fast. Scratch that part about being lucky. "Leave Gizmo alone!" Kilah demanded in a hiss, wincing as someone slapped her across the face.
"Shut up, you little demon!" Noyama's voice hissed sharply at her. Seems Ms.Shapeshifter had picked up a new disguise. "Where's the other one? And what you stole from me? Your time is up!"
"Shut up!" Lyrus shouted, whirling on the girl once more. However, this time he wasn't satisfied with just a yell. A quick yank severed the cord of his necklace, and without a second thought he threw the glass pendant for the girl--or so it seemed. In fact, the pendant sped right by her and shattered against the wall. Snarling under his breath, Lyrus shoved past her and over to the mess of glass shards, brushing them into the palm of one hand with nor regard for the few slivers that actually cut him; he was used to it.
Returned to the door, he crouched beside it and began working the glass slivers back together. The product, while slightly jagged and lumpy in places, was a narrow rid of glass, hooked slightly at one end. A few more touches, a few more 'hooks', and Lyrus began fiddling with the lock, movements slow and careful. He didn't want to break the glass. Not that he was entirely sure what he was doing, but Isto had explained it to him once... Maybe it would work.
----
The instant Kilah vanished, Jaxom broke into a run, heading downstairs and outside, taking only a short diversion to meet Atear on the way. Still, it would be a few minutes before he reached her...
Squeak. Terrified, the purple-haired girl hid her face in her hands, daring to peer between her fingers only when Lyrus was occupied with the door again.
"Quiet down in there!" A voice called from behind one of the doors. A guard, most likely.
"Good going," Noharu spat, rolling her eyes. "Do you have any idea how many guards might be out there? What if this little runt is wrong, and there's a ton of them? Don't expect me to alert anyone of it after they murder you."
---
"The other one...?" What other one? Lyrus had gone with her, hadn't he? ...Oh, s**t. "He doesn't even know what's going on!" She defended. Her answer was growl. Alright, so that didn't seem to matter much to this one. "I know where it is," Kilah said quickly. "But I'm not giving it to you."
"You and your stupid little friend are dead!" Hissing more viciously than the real Noyama could ever get away with, she lifted the Sin'aeis up harshly, the same dagger as before in hand. In what seemed like one motion, she stabbed her in the arm, the exact same place as before, and then casual tossed her aside.
Afterward, she stormed over to the house and pushed the door open, glancing around. "You, b***h! Come down here now! Give the gem to me or I'll kill you too!"
His cut thumb in his mouth, Lyrus gathered up the glass pieces and reluctantly stepped away from the door, returning to one of the walls and sinking down against it, glaring at the pieces. He could fix it and try again, but what was the point? it wasn't going to work. Once his finger stopped bleeding, he would attempted to fix his pendant instead.
----
Jaxom was just turning down the last hallway when the voice reached him. Freezing in place, he hesitated, then glanced down to the kitten at his heels. Calmly, Atear continued for the doorway, but a flick of his tail warned Jaxom from doing the same. Instead, the Guardian boy turned and ran back the way he had come. The gem was here somewhere. He would just have to find it first. From across the room came a heavy sigh. Soon there were footsteps, those of Noharu. She walked over to Lyrus, kneeling down infront of him. "Look, you annoying little thing, I'll get you and what's-her-name out of here if you do something for me."
Pointing toward the bat-winged girl with her thumb she continued, "Take her with you, and once you're out, considering you all live through this, you take her to Noyama. Give me your word you'll do that, and I'll deal with any guards and what not. If you hurry you can still save your stupid little friends..."
----
When no response came, 'Noyama' stormed back over to Kilah, lifting her up by the collar again. "Tell me where it is!" Wincing, the Sin'aeis said nothing aside from a mutter that sounded like 'piss off, b***h'.
Gizmo was growling by now as well, though not moving. A binding spell or something no doubt. When his owner was harshly tossed across the lawn again, he whimpered loud enough for anyone in the general area to hear. Lyrus' eyes snapped up as the woman approached, watching her warily from where he sat. His expression softened somewhat with her 'request', more surprised than anything, but after a moment he nodded, letting his hand fall and pulling his eyes away to eye the cut on his thumb. Nothing serious. "If we get out of here, I'll take her. I swear," he added, almost as an afterthought. But Lyrus kept his word. It was one of the few things one could really hold him to.
Climbing to his feet, he pickeded the glass pieces. He would fix it later. There were more important things to worry about. "So, how're you gonna get us out? And why didn't you just do it earlier?" A bit rude, but she would deal. Lyrus wasn't in the best of moods.
---
Minutes passed and Jax still didn't show up. Probably because he had run back upstairs and was trying to figure out where the hell someone would keep...whatever it was these people were looking for. Desperate times called for desperate measures. The whatever it was wasn't in his room--he would search Lyrus'. And turn it completely upside down in the process. That neat freak lamb would be furious when he came home. ...Jaxom smirked.
Meanwhile, Atear had situated himself on the lawn just outside the door, lounging calmly on the grass, unblinking eyes following the movements of 'Noyama' and Kilah. Indeed, the only signs that he was really paying attention and not just staring into space were the occasional twitches of his ears and tail. But he did nothing to interrupt the 'fight' just yet. That was not his duty. "Because I have no where to go." Leave it to Noharu to be self-centered even in the worst of times. Then again, the deal had been to help the girl with her, not herself. More than meets the eye, perhaps? She leered at them as if to say 'back away from the door!'. Then her working eye moved toward the same door, her voice sweet enough to make anyone who knew the real one cringe.
Creepier than 'nice' Kilah and then some.
"Excuse me!" The woman called in the islands language. It was easy to see who spoke it judging by their responses. The tiny bat girl blinked cluelessly, while the other seemed to be listening with interest. "My daughter needs water. Can you get it for her? Pleaaasseee?"
The door opened, and the guard eyed her suspiciously before seeming to agree. "Fine, come on. The rest of them stay here." Sure, there were probably a lot of them nearby, but no one ever said they were smart. Unfortunately for her, Ms.Shapeshifter had assumed the prisoners were of the same level of intelligence.
As the guard turned to let her out, she nodded in the direction she was going, winking at her 'daughter'. Though the tiny girl didn't seem pleased with whatever she was implying, she nodded understandingly. Quietly, she rose to her feet, edging toward the door. Before the guard could notice, she dropped something between the door and the doorway and hurried back to where she'd been sitting.
The top of the door 'thunked' loudly as it closed, but the bottom was left cracked open thanks to the minature dracula plushie wedged between it. Certainly easier to pry open now.
Wordlessly, the toddler motioned toward the opening, glancing at Lyrus.
---
"Tell me where it is!" The shapeshifter roared again, dragging Kilah up. Wincing at the contact, the Sin'aeis growled and wiped a bit of blood off her mouth.
"In my room, whore," she spat.
"Good girl!" The other squealed, dropping her and vanishing in the blink of an eye. By doing so, she allowed Gizmo movement again, and he was at Kilah's side faster than anyone could ever blink, eyeing her worriedly.
"It's fine. Either Sango and Twila will be home, or no one will be there. Sango can take care of herself, and...well...I don't really give a damn about Twila." As if suddenly realizing she'd been stabbed again, she shifted uncomfortablely and pondered what to do. Bleed to death? Didn't sound appealing. She had a lot of people to kill before she died herself!
Sighing heavily, she realized the only other option. Not a good one, but a better one. The blindfold was pulled off, and with some difficulty wrapped around the wound on her arm. Afterward, she lifted her other hand to cover her eyes...or where they should be, anyway. "Go get me something to cover these with, Gizmo. I think I'll be alright now."
He whined, but she ignored it. "And you, cat, I know you're out here some place. Go tell Jax to stay away from Lyrus's stuff." Well, that was a good enough reason, he supposed. Lyrus remained seated until Noharu had gone, eyes tightly closed and scowling disguestedly from the overly sweet tone. Once he had wiped it from his memory, he reopened his eyes and quirked a brow at the bat girl, following her gesture to the door. Brightening up, he climbed to his feet and scrambled for the door.
Dropping to his knees once he reached it, he wormed his fingers into the crack with the plushie and tugged. Useless. But the lock didn't seem completely straight due to the awkward angle of the door now... Shifting around, he braced one foot against the the wall, shoving with his leg and tugging on the bottom of the door. The gap slowly grew, the lock straining to keep it shut, and suddenly the bolt gave way and the door flew open; Lyrus fell over backwards.
Grinning triumphantly, the boy climbed to his feet and quickly headed over to the bat girl, scooping her up before she could protest and heading back out the door. Where he would go from there, he didn't know, but he would keep his word.
---
Atear quirked a brow, but said nothing. However, he did climbed to his feet and, after watching Kilah for a moment longer, turned and calmly returned inside, walking back for the stairs and, from there, Lyrus' room. Jaxom was already there and having trouble figuring out what all the fuss was about. Perhaps he could help. Lucky for Lyrus, Karoko wasn't one to protest anyway. Hell, she wasn't even one to talk. Certainly didn't seem like the type that would survive in the care of Noharu, but a loud-mouth like Kilah definetly wouldn't have made it long. Also, it helped she was small.
The fox demon frowned slightly as they left, shaking her head. "Be careful, little lamb..." Leaving the room as well, she hurried down the same way Noharu had gone. Who knew what she was planning, but did it matter?
"It's that way," Karoko whispered to Lyrus, pointing to their left when they reached a fork in the long hall. "Mommy told me to remember the way we can when they brought us here."
---
Lady Luck was a b***h, and good at her job. Kilah had done something to her, it seemed. Within few seconds she learned an important life lesson: Blindfolds are not replacement bandages. Don't send your 'eyes' off unless you're positive they are.
Even with the bleeding, which was not only painful but...well, kind of gross, she still didn't lower her hand. Aside from Gizmo, and that stupid cat she hated anyway, she certainly seemed dead set on nobody seeing her face as it was.
Something nudged her in the back, and when she reached over she realized right away who it was. "Good girl, Sassy," she praised, grabbing ahold of her mane and hauling herself to her feet. "We need to go find Lyrus now." Lyrus had actually been about to take the right fork, and blinked down at the bat girl when she gestured him to the left. He quirked a brow, but nodded, offering her a smile in thanks and starting down the hallway, listening nervously for any sign of approaching peoples, or an alert that their absence may have been discovered. Thus far things were going well, but who knew how long that would last.
And even if they did get out, where would they go from there? This was certainly no place Lyrus recognized...
---
"All he's got in here is a bunch of rocks and glass crap," Jaxom complained once Atear had reached him, 'innocently' tossing another of the valuables onto Lyrus' bed. At least he wasn't just dropping them on the floor. "What's that girl looking for, anyway? Did she say?"
Shaking his head, the kitten hopped onto the nearest shelf, and from there climbed his way to the higher ones that Jaxom hadn't reached yet. Slinking around the various items, pausing just after passing a rather large gem and turning curiously back to it. Lovely, if simple, appearing more as a stone than an actual crystal. Dark blue... Lyrus would love it. Without a second thought, then kitten shoved the gem off the shelf, purring absently in approval when his bond caught and pocketed it.
This was the one. They left the room. It was amazing, but they ran into no one. Had all of them really left just for a gem? It seemed so. Karoko pointed in directions whenever they needed it, and sounded nothing less than positive with each path she told him to take and each way she told him to turn.
Despite her young age, and the fact she still acted like a zebra in a cage full of lions, the toddlers directing eventually led them to an exit. Not a door, but what appeared to be a cave entrance. The chunk of rock it led out to overlooked the entire island.
People were going about with their own business, not seeming to notice. The fact every hut looked identical would probably make it hard to nevigate.
---
Amongst the blood loss (and the fact she was more pissed than she could ever remember being), Kilah still seemed aware of what would happen. Either Sango WOULD be home and kill what she hoped was a demon, or she'd wreck her room up for nothing, find nothing and storm back here.
"Jax!" The Sin'aeis yelled from her current stand point, still loud enough for him and anyone with a mile to hear. It was more of a check than an actual yell, but as he heard it that was fine. Hadn't he found the dumb thing yet?!It was too simple. There should be shouts and yells and explosions and such! People should be waiting around every corner with guns and huge swords! It didn't make sense that they could get out and not see anyone... But somehow they did. Lyrus was stunned. Or, would have been if he weren't in such a rush. Instead, he settled on grumbling about it under his breath until they reached the ledge. Damn boring escapes.
However, once free of the 'prison', or wherever the heck they had been, Lyrus let these thoughts fade, staring out across the island wide-eyed. Where the hell were they? ...And how were they supposed to get home?! This certainly wasn't anywhere Lyrus recognized, and all of these people... They looked like Noyama. "Where are we, uh...you?" he asked, glancing down to the bat girl. So he didn't know her name. Sue him.
---
To answer or not to answer? Jaxom was seriously considering keeping the gem for himself. Screw Lyrus. But that would also mean Kilah was likely to get hurt too, if not killed... ...Ah, dammit. Sighing, Jaxom scooped up Atear and transferred the cat to his shoulder, then headed back downstairs and outside, running over to Kilah and Sassy. "I think I've found it. It's just some big gem, but..." He shrugged, glancing sideways to his cat. "Atear thinks it's what they're looking for." "Karrrroko," she offered. Her voice was cheerful enough, but she didn't smile. Before even looking to see where they were, she instead looked back for any sign of Noharu. When there was nothing, she took the time to observe their surroundings. "Mommy is frrrom is here," she explained, nodding her head toward the people, who looked as identical as the huts. "Look the same."
---
"Good. Give it to me." While she didn't look to be in any state to demand things, that didn't stop her. Holding her arm with one hand, she held her other out and waited for him to hand it over. If she hurried, she could catch up with that stupid thing... "Hurry up." "Karoko," he repeated with a nod, as if he had always known it. "And I'm Lyrus," he added, just in case she didn't know. She should, of course, seeing as everyone should know who he was, but some people didn't. Such a pity. "Yeah, that's what I thought..." Sighing, he glanced around the expanse, eyes picking out a few of the people. There was no denying it. "But that means we're on an island. We can't get off an island." Even assuming they could find a boat or something, they wouldn't be able to use it. Lyrus had never been in a boat before. "We'll have to hide and hope we run into someone....friendly."
---
Quirking a brow, Jaxom shook his head and folded his arms. "Nope." After eyeing Sassy thoughtfully for a moment, he turned his attention back to Kilah and grinned. "I'm going to come. Your arm's bleeding; you can't rescue them by yourself."To that Kaorko gave him a clueless stare. When she finally blinked, she smiled weakly. It was a nervous smile, but it was hard for her to believe he knew so little about this place. Yes, Karoko knew who he was. Mommy had nicknames for them, like this one was that 'little grey b*****d'. She wasn't suppose to say that, though. "Frrrriendly," she squeaked, motioning toward the ground as an indication to put her down.
---
Heaving a very, very annoyed sigh, Kilah released her arm and covered her eyes (or where they should be) with her hands again. For the brief time they were uncovered, it was proof she wasn't lying. It wasn't nearly as gruesome as one would've expected, but for most it was probably...unnerving.
"I can," she hissed defensively. She was Kilah. She could do anything. "If you get me something to cover my eyes with, I'll let you come. I don't want your stupid cat going, though."Who was friendly? He was friendly? Lyrus wouldn't have agreed. He didn't like being friendly. It was irritating, and usually led to people thinking they were your friends and just annoying you. Like Coen. Coen was friendly. Lyrus hated Coen. With her gesture, he set her down and quirked a brow, automatically reaching into his pocket for his knife, and pouting slightly when he remembered it wasn't there. So much for self defense. "Where to, shorty?"
---
Jaxom wasn't terribly bothered by the sight, probably because it meant this was the real Kilah. Not that he had doubted it. But seeing her with eyes when he knew they should be gone had been stranger than seeing her without them. Nodding, he turned to go find something, then paused and turned back to her, pulling the imposter's blindfold from his pocket and holding it out to her. "Here. When that girl was pretending to be you, she left this blindfold in my room. It's just like your other one."
Pausing, he considered her 'offer', and once again glanced sideways to his cat. A moment passed, and Atear hopped down from his bond's shoulder, slinking back for the house--though it was clear he wasn't happy with the situation. Jaxom, however, was satisfied. "Atear's going to stay home." "No!" The toddler insisted, suddenly sounding forceful. Mommy said boys were stupid, and she was always right. This one must be too. Sighing in what most would consider a 'cute' way, she pointed toward the people this time and repeated slowly, "Frrriendly." As in, put your damn knife away, boy! "Not hurrrt," she assured him quickly. "Nice."
---
Kilah 'hmph'ed. "Damn right he is!" Quietly for a moment, she took the second blindfold and carefully placed it over her eyes, tying it in the back like she had with the first. Damn, her arm hurt, something she was reminded of when lifting and lowering it made her wince.
Her attempts to ignore it were obvious, and all things considered she was doing a fairly good job. "Sassy, you don't mind carrying kitty cat here, do you?" The pegasus shook her head and thumped her hoof on the ground in a 'no'. The grey one, this one, what was the difference? "Oh." Lyrus blinked, then rolled his eyes. The people were friendly. ....it certainlly didn't seem that way, but alright. "I wasn't going to hurt them." It wasn't like he could it he had wanted to. He had had to leave his knife with Kilah. He simply wanted to be sure he could hurt them if he needed to. Kilah's trips to this island hadn't had the best results, from what he knew. Despite what the bat girl said, he doubted these people were all that friendly. "Anyway. Nice or not, I doubt they'll just help us out of the blue. Do you know anyone down there?"
---
Once Kilah had taken the blindfold, Jaxom stopped paying attention. His eyes were focused thoughtfully on her arm, and, even though she attempted to hide it, he noticed the strain it cause her. Not that he could do anything about it, of course. But maybe Atear... Well, they would have to ask later. Snapping back to reality in time to hear her comments to Sassy, he rolled his eyes and, after nodding his thanks to the pegasus, climbed up behind Kilah, looping his good arm around her waist and awkwardly holding his 'spear' with his injured hand. It would do until they reached...wherever they were going. "How long's the flight?" She said nothing, but nodded with more enthuasium than she'd showed so far. Despite being Noharu's daughter, she didn't seem like the type to lie. Too young, too cute, and too quiet. Still, it was amazing that someone could tell any of them apart when they all looked basically identical. Sure, there were scars or something that would make one a bit different on occassion, but it went no farther than that.
"That way," she instructed, pointing toward a hut a reasonable distance away from them.
---
"You know, falling from a pegasus would do a lot more damage than falling out of a tree. If you don't want to know for sure, I'd be quiet the rest of the way, hm?" Sassy rolled her eyes at the bickering as she soared through the air. Judging by her fall earlier, the pegasus wouldn't put it past her to just push someone... She and this boy certainly didn't get along. "Right. Good." Well, at least the girl didn't seem quite so shy anymore? That was a start. Still, it felt odd for Lyrus to be the follower, given that this girl was about half his size and overly cute and innocent. But she knew the way, at least, or knew of someone who could help them. To keep himself from dwelling on that fact, he let his eyes wander the 'village' as they headed for the hut she had pointed out, eyes narrowing slightly anytime the passed too closely to one of the fox people. One could never be too careful...
---
She wouldn't really knock him off the pegasus. Right? Right. ...Right. "I'm sure of it," he replied idly, peering over Sassy's side for the ground. ...How cool was this?! Surprisingly, he was silent for a while after that, simply enjoying the sights, but after a short while, without looking up, he offered, "You know.. I bet Atear could do something for your eyes. Maybe bring them back or something, if not ensure that they'd work." Not that he had actually seen the kitten do anything of the sort, but Jaxom wouldn't be at all surprised if he could. Quite the contrary, Jaxom would be extremely disappointed if the kitten couldn't do anything like that. What use was he if he couldn't regenerate body parts? No fun, no fun... Down they went, into the village. The people were mostly carrying baskets full of fruit back and forth, but there were a few taken on other tasks such as repairing roofs and the likes. No matter what they were doing, they'd at the very least pause to glance toward the two of them--they certainly did stick out.
It seemed like forever before they reached the proper door...or, where a door would've been had any of these huts had them. "Hellooo?" Karoko called softly, peering inside. When she got no answer she gazed up at Lyrus. "Grrrandpa live here."
---
The weight wasn't any big deal, but when Kilah was suddenly close to ripping out half her mane she snorted angrily and jolted the two of them a bit, a clear threat she'd knock them both off. She didn't have her name for no reason.
"Sorry," Kilah apologized quickly, loosening her grip. Her teeth still grinded loud enough to be heard, and her voice lacked anything but hate when she snarled back at Jax. "If you suggest that again, I'll kill you."
Touchy subject, apparently.
"I'm not some labrat to show off your stupid kitty cats abilities," she hissed, calming down a noticeable amount, still angry just the same. "I don't want your pity or your help. I don't even want you here." Lyrus' steely glare met each glance in turn, and faded only once they reached the hut, then more curious than annoyed. He was extremely tempted to peek in after the girl, but figured they would be entering shortly anyway and didn't bother, waiting patiently after she called for a response. There was none. "Grandpa? Well, then he won't care if we intrude." He had better not, anyway. Some grandpa. Before the girl could respond, Lyrus had stepped around her and into the hut, calling out. "Oi, is anyone here? We need some help."
---
"Pardon me for being nice," Jaxom muttered, but didn't back down. "And I wasn't trying to show off or anything. It'd just be easier on you to not have to bother with a blindfold, right? Can't you suck up your pride for a minute and let someone actually help you? You're not all powerful, Kilah, and you're certainly not immortal, and some day you're going to have to face that or you'll just get worse. And then when you do need help, no onell give it, because you're such a b***h whenever they tried before.""Not therrre--EEK!" The tiny girl screeched as someone suddenly lifted her from the ground. It took only a second for that terrifying sound to mold itself into a fit of giggles and clapping of hands. The man holding her chuckled loudly, patting her between the ears. "Well hello, batty, good ta see ya!"
His English was slurred, but still better than Noyama's. In reality, he was only in his twentys, but considering the race aged so quickly he looked about forty. His hair was purple, not surprisingly. His skin was a bit darker than the others, his eyes the same blue that Noharu's were.
The guy was big enough to hold Karoko with one arm, reaching another bulky hand up to scratch his beard, eyes traveling over Lyrus. "Well, seems there's a little boy here with you. Who's this, eh?" The accent didn't seem to fit with the island.
---
"Easier? EASIER?" Kilah spat, kicking Sassy in the side harder than nesscary. "Down," she demanded. The pegasus shot her a vicious glare, but obeyed, and soon they were on the ground. Once Kilah was sure of it, she pushed Jax away and jumped down onto the grass. a*****e.
"Sassy will still take you there, I'll find Gizmo. I don't want to be near you. You have no idea what you're talking about, you little b***h. I don't need help, and you can't help. You don't even know what HAPPENED!" Tightening the blindfold around her arm then the one covering her eyes she continued, "I've been beaten, almost drowned, and had to have my eyes ripped out to save my griffon, and I survived it all without help. I help my friends, I don't want them responsible for me."
"You, again, are clueless. You're an idiot. It doesn't work the same for me as for everyone else, do you not GET that? The second I let my guard down even a little it'll become 'Oh, gee, let's all help the blind girl!' And, you know, maybe I am a b***h. But it's not like I can cry about it, now is it?"
Waving one hand, she turned. If she ran into something...oh well. Lyrus whirled around at the screech, one hand snatching for his dagger, and cursing under his breath when it wasn't there. Dammit, why hadn't he found a way to sneak it in? This was irritating. The boy relaxed only when the squeal faded to giggles, but eyed the man warily nonetheless. Any relative of Noharu's (except for maybe Noyama) couldn't be trusted. ....not right away, at least.
Straightening up, Lyrus folded his arms across his chest and went straight to the point. "I'm Lyrus. Me an' Karoko escaped from that prison place, and now we need help getting off the island. I'm supposed to take her to Noyama. Noharu said so. ...Who're you?" he added. Not that he cared.
---
Sighing heavily as the pegasus descended, Jaxom was otherwise silent throughout Kilah's tirade, watching her almost boredly from Sassy's back. Only when she began to walk away did he bother to react.
"Wait," he commanded, and, fully expecting her to do exactly the opposite, slid off of the pegasus to land on the ground. After taking a step away from Sassy, he slipped and hand in his pocket and withdrew the gem, making as if to hand it to Kilah, but thinking better of it and simply dropping it on the ground. Let her find it herself if she didn't need help.
After shifting his spear to his good hand, he turned and started back the way they came. It would be a long walk after that flight, but he would find the way sooner or later. Atear could always meet up with him if needed. "You don't want my help, you won't get my help. But everyone needs help sometime, Kilah." And off he went, adding back over his shoulder:
"...Oh, and kick Lyrus for me before he dies." "Oooh, you're Akilah's friend, aren't you?" For seemingly no reason, he laughed again so loudly it wouldn't be at all suprising if the Earth around them shook. Judging by the reaction he got, which was none, the islanders knew each other well and therefore expected nothing less from this man. "Yes, she told me about you. Funny, you look different than Noyama explained to me."
Shrugging, he scratched his beard again and 'hm'ed. "Escaped, eh? I knew there was something goin' on up there! Guess you need to be leaving here, then?" Oddly enough, he didn't question Noharu's where abouts. Whenever Karoko had been seen before, it was clinging to her. "Hmm. Well, the ruler isn't here, but I'm sure there are other ways."
---
Kilah's eyebrows narrowed the second he'd called for her. Considering the situation, and what she could only refer to as a 'time limit', she was plenty ready to let it go and move on. Lyrus. Find Lyrus. Bring back Lyrus. That was what she needed to focus on, but...
His last words had gotten to her. Too much. Combined with her temper as it was, it was expected she'd spin around and scream. "YOU'RE SUCH AN a*****e JAX! YOU PREACH TO ME ABOUT BEING A "b***h" AND THEN TALK TO ME THAT WAY! YOU WANT TO HELP? GO DROP YOURSELF OFF A CLIFF! I HATE YOU!" With that said...uh...screamed, she gasped for the air she'd lost and grabbed her arm again.
Either she'd forgotten about the gem or decide she didn't want it, as she didn't bother looking for it and instead attempted to locate Sassy again. Her hand grasped the mane soon enough, but instead of pulling herself up she buried her face in it and breathed heavily. "I can protect them..." "Yeah, I am." Lyrus blinked, and almost seemed to stagger slightly with the man's laugh, letting his arms fall back to his sides for balance instead. He quirked a brow as the man continued, and actually managed a grin. This guy seemed nice enough. He was too...er...jolly to be dangerous, right? "I grew recently. Didn't have hair before. And yeah, we need to get back to my house. I can find Noya's from there, I think, so you don't need to worry about Karoko."
---
Jaxom had expected that sort of reaction, in all honesty. It was his way to telling himself he had gotten out ahead; she had lost her temper and exploded, he had remained calm and walked off, head held high. Not that he felt at all good about it, but he wasn't about to help her after that, nor did he feel she warranted a reply. It was going to take long enough getting home. He didn't have time to stand around and yell at some overly proud girl who refused to see sense. "Alright then. Hmm." Jolly, yes. Smart, probably not. Scratching the top of his head, he set Karoko down and motioned for them to follow him. "Alright, I'll get you back then, follow me. By the way, how did you kids get here to begin with?"
He led them to...another hut, identical to his own. No wonder everyone seemed so uptight. This place looked awfully boring. "Well, no matter, go on in there and talk to the lady. She'll help you. Speaks better English than I do, too, and she's got them...magic stuff." ---
Fine, let him walk. Getting her to explode was no accomplishment anyway. Someone without a temper, maybe, but not her. That was one of the few things she had. Kneeling down behind the pegasus, she wrinkled her nose and grumbled. Alright, what to do...? For some reason just going where she thought was the right place didn't seem so appealing anymore.. There was a big difference between trustworthy and smart, and one didn't have to be both. Besides, Karoko had called this man 'Grandpa', and that would make him Kilah's Grandpa too, right? Because Noyama and Noharu were sisters? And Noyama wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but she was trusthworthy, so her father would be too. Good.
He followed in silence, already tired of seeing hut after hut and people who all seemed to look alike. When they finally reached their destination, he nodded in agreement and started inside, muttering "C'mon, Karoko," before raising his voice to call whoever 'the lady' was. Hopefully she would be home... "Hellooo? Is anyone here?" "Yes, dear, come in!" A woman's voice insisted. Expect the unexpected, and this woman was certainly that. Even Karoko's 'grandpa' had appeared fairly young. This stranger, though, looked almost eighty at the youngest. Her eyes were covered with a blindfold, dark purple in color. Her skin wasn't tan, but pale enough to rival that of an albino. Her hair, too, was pale, long enough to touch the floor.
The room wasn't as plain as the others had been. The many decorations were odd (and some a bit disturbing), covering a large portion of the single room. The woman sat on a colorful pillow in the center of the room, her shaking hands folded neatly on the table infront of her. "You're not of this island, child, why have you come here?" Expect the unexpected nothing. Unexpected was an understatement. This woman was about the last thing Lyrus would have ever imagined, and for that reason alone he didn't trust her. Not one bit. but at the same time, something told him honesty was the best policy in this situation... Plus, she was old, and he doubted she cared exactly who he was anyway.
"I, uh.." How to explain? "Some shape shifter girl thinks me an' my friend stole a gem from her, and was threatening Kilah and gonna take her here, but I came instead 'cause, er...Well, Kilah gets hurt a lot, and I didn't think she should again. But then I escaped with Karoko," he pointed back towards the door, "and she took us to her grandpa who took us here. We need to get off this island. Can you help?"The woman waited patiently for Lyrus to finish. Once he was done talking, she was silent for so long it could've been annoying. When she finally spoke again, at first it was a mere 'hm'. After a cough, she cleared her throat, "Ah, yes. Noharu. You feel much anger toward that girl, I can tell. Be not angry with her, child, for she has reasons for her hatred."
Lifting a hand, she waved it infront of one of her eyes--the one Noharu was blind in. "Her mother has sacrified her for that of her sister. It was she who pushed her between that arrow and her sibling. Her eye is forever pierced by that."
"Hmm. Kilah. Yes. Akilah is the blind one, she has been here many times. The blindfold she has was a gift from myself. I can feel her calling. She's very worried for you, child. She's hurting here." With the same hand, she tapped her arm. "She's trying to call you. I'm afraid her magic isn't strong enough."
Again, she quieted, much shorter than the first time. "I'll send you home, child, but for the spell to work you must trust in me. Any doubt or distrust that plauges your mind will cancel out this old womans magic." Lyrus was stunned. Noharu's mother had pushed her infront of an arrow? To save her sister? That was like... Well, someone like Banda shoving him in front of Jax. Yes, Lyrus certainly would have hated quite a few people if something like that were to happen to him. It was a bit easier to understand Noharu.. Just a bit, mind. Some things that had happened during his infancy were irreversable.
However, he nodded slightly inunderstanding and relaxed his guard a bit, moreso once the woman began speaking of Kilah. Creepy or not, her voice held a wisdom that all but proclaimed honestly, and drew trust towards it. Kilah was hurt and trying to bring him back...?
Lyrus considered his options. Really, what reason did he have to not trust thie woman? She was going to help him. Send him and Karoko home so they, in turn, could help Kilah. She knew of Kilah, she had given the girl her blindfold, and she had told him a part of Noharu's past that, in all likelihood, he never would have heard otherwise. "I trust you," he replied after a moment, almost surprised to hear himself say it. "Do I need to do anything? And you'll send Karoko too, right? I promised Noharu I'd take her to Noyama." "Yes, I will send you both." While it could have been possible she did have eyes, she still wouldn't have been able to see with that blindfold infront of them. Even so, when she turned toward Karoko, who hadn't made so much as a whimper since they entered, one could swear she knew exactly where the toddler was. "You're much too afraid of the world, child. Noharu wishes only for you to be brave. She wants you to be strong while she is away. If you are, she may just return after all."
Still, the Eden said nothing, merely nodded her head and inched closer to Lyrus. Too young to understand, maybe.
"Now then," the woman continued, folding her still shaking hands together. "You'll need your friend Akilah's help for this. You must focus quite a bit, do you understand? If you close your eyes, and listen only for her, you'll hear her calling. I'll need her to cast this, it's a very powerful spell."Surprisingly, the woman's ability to see without really seeing didn't bother Lyrus in the slightest. Scion wore a blindfold almost constantly, but acted exactly as if he didn't. This woman clearly did the same. Following her 'gaze', he quirked a brow when his eyes fell on Karoko. He hadn't realized the bat girl was inside. He cracked a smile when she approached, and automatically set a hand on her shoulder. Reassuring her, perhaps, though that was rather out of character for Lyrus.
Though he felt a bit foolish at first, Lyrus nodded and followed her instructions, closing his eyes and listening. Nothing. Nothing new, anyway, just the same old sounds as always: his own breathing, the occasional footfalls of people outside, etc. Nothing special.
'Listen only for her' ran through his head, and Lyrus forced himself to focus. Block out everything else, and listen for Kilah. Nevermind that reality told him she was way back at the House and there was no possible way he could hear her. Apparently this was magic, and magic could surely overcome barriers like time. So Lyrus listened.
And there she was.I don't want to... Kilah's voice.
She's gonna kill us! She'll kill us when she comes back! We have to run! The happy voice, now paniced. Otherwise known as 'nice' Kilah. Apparently she wasn't gone.
You must, relax, child... The woman's voice instructed.
I AM. It's HER who's freaking out. Stupid spirit...thing! Kilah snapped.
OF COURSE I AM! We're going to be KILLED when that lady comes back!
The voices seemed to come from no where in particular, rather from all around them, echoing. "You must speak with your mind, child," the woman instructed. "Be warned, once you begin, until the spell is complete your thoughts will be heard by us." Child, calm yourself. Your friend is here with me.
Lyrus is with you?! AND YOU JUST TOLD ME? You stupid old b***h! Help him then! Speak with his mind? How was he supposed to do that? Or, rather, how was he supposed to express it to the others? But they were all doing it, he could hear them.. Them? There were two Kilahs. Why were their two Kilahs?
Kilah? Aha, he had done it! Stop yelling and shut up the other you. She's confusing me. We're alright--me an, uh, Karoko. The bat thing, he added, just in case. He was fairly sure Kilah would know who he was talking about, but there was always the chance he had screwed up with the name again. Lyrus was bad with names.
So how does this spell thing work? Lyrus couldn't do magic. Any magic. Unless you counted manipulating glass, but all Sins had something like that, didn't they? Kilah had learned magic from someone, as far as Lyrus knew. He had tried once--just once--and decided it was stupid. He would stick with his glass. Uhh. Yeah, I forgot to mention she turned out to be another spirit, and she...won't go away...eheh... Kilah sighed.
I want Jax to come back! You chased him away again and now we're going to die! 'Nice' Kilah whined.
We're trying to help LYRUS, you idiot! Kilah protested.
That's another thing! If he's so much cuter than Jax, I want to see him, too! But I can't because you ripped our eyes out!
OUR EYES?! They're MY eyes, b***h! And EW!
CHILDREN! The woman broke in, and both went quiet. We are to focus on helping Lyrus and Karoko now, am I correct?
Yeah, whatever... Kilah's voice echoed. Anyway, Lyrus, I'll have you here in a second. You ready, lady? I've only got a few gems left, but I think I can do it.
Very well, Akilah.
The woman began chanting, and echoing around them was the sound of music. Kilah really needed to learn to cast as well with words. She'd get around to it...eventually.
Farewell, children.
The last thing they'd here before suddenly finding themselves back beside Kilah and Sassy. The three gems on the ground shattered, making Karoko jump and look frantically around. Jaxom's a b***h, Lyrus snapped in reply to Nice!Kilah. She was that weird one he had met. Somehow he could tell. The one who didn't know him... That explained a lot.
Lyrus was tempted to gloat as the Kilahs' conversation continued, but he decided against it. He already knew he was 'cuter' than Jax, and how could either Kilah say he was if neither of them could see? For now, his opinion on the subject mattered more than theirs.
He would ask Mignon later.
Lyrus' thoughts faded away as the chanting began; he was tempted to open his eyes and search for the music's source, but knew it must be Kilah, and that looking would be pointless and might even mess up the spell. And then before he could think any further, there was the sound of shattering crystal and his eyes opened on their own accord. They had made it.
"Good job," Lyrus praised with a grin, and would have said more had not he noticed fourth gem, the only one that had not shattered. Frowning faintly, he bent and picked it up. "You found the gem? This is what she wanted." "Jax found it," Kilah answered. Since the boy had left Gizmo had found his way back. Casting had been that much harder because of which. He and Sassy had bickered the entire time--annoying things. After climbing onto the griff, Kilah grabbed her arm and nodded toward the pegasus. "She'll take you home," she offered warily. "I'll assume Karoko is going to come with us." Because where ELSE could she go? "What? Oh, yeah." Karoko would go with them. Cracking a smile of thanks down at the girl, he nodded her towards Kilah, but his calm didn't last long. Smile fading, he pocketed the gem--making a mental note to slaughter Jaxom later for going in his room--and turned his eyes back to Kilah. "That's it? You're just leaving? We haven't solved anything. She could come back!" "She won't come back." Her voice sounded sure, but not as if she was arguing. She was too tired to argue, and had thought he would be too. That island, which is where she was sure he'd been, wasn't as sunny and bright as it looked. It was a horrible place, and she wasn't sure she wanted to know what had happened during his visit.
Next time she saw him, when she wasn't bleeding, she'd be sure to ask. "You bet your a** I'm going home. You want me to bleed to death?" When she felt Karoko struggling to get up, she reached over and lifted her effortlessly. "I sent her off to my house, Sango must've been home. If she hasn't come back yet, she isn't gonna. My sister killed her."
Karoko was such a small girl, Gizmo barely noticed the extra weight. Any amount of weight was fine by him as long as he could get away from Sassy. There was a brief pause while Lyrus considered arguing. But, no, he wasn't in the mood. He was tired, Kilah was grumpy, and Jaxom had probably turned his room upside down looking for the gem--that alone was enough to pull Lyrus home. Mess must be gone NOW!
Nodding silently, he stepped over to Sassy and climbed onto the pegasus' back, both hands closing in her mane. His first ride by himself. ....Good stuff. "See you, then." Kilah nodded. "Don't do anything stupid. Sassy's tired, too. Get going."
Snort. Sassy wasn't a fan of being bossed around, but just the same obeyed. The Sin'aeis weren't the only ones not in the mood to argue. Before she took off into the air Kilah called over, "Feel free to kill Jax now."
Making sure Karoko wouldn't fall, she nudged Gizmo in the side and he too hurried into the sky.
---
Back at the island, the woman stood and pulled the blindfold off, wandering to the door. By time she made it there, it wasn't an old woman leaning on the frame, rather a copy of a certain blue-haired lamb Sin'aeis, who grinned broadly as he gazed up at the sky. "Stupid kids. I certainly hope you keep your guard up. It'll make it that much better when I come back for you."
Send her off to a demon slayer, eh? They wished she was dumb enough for that...

Growth quest. Bwaha. I guess I wasnt broken after all. I got my quest a few days back and went and did what it told me to... Basically shopping which is normally really boring but this time was alright cause it was for me and my quest! I needed three shirts two glass things and a colored knife. Oh and a backpack. It was pretty easy to find everything except for the knife but we got that eventually. And yeah so Im bigger! Im taller than Jax and I have hair now and my horns bigger and a bit more curved I think. Its hard to tell. I need a better mirror for my room. Remind me to get one. A big one! Everyone should have a big mirror. Hmm... So what else. I went to the mansion earlier and saw Kilah. And I dont feel like writing everything that happened because it would take too long and I dont like writing that much. Basically this shape shifter thought we stole something from her and tried to take Kilah as ransom but I went instead cause Kilahs always getting hurt and I felt bad. Then I escaped from the prison place with the bat girl and Kilah and this old lady transported us home. The thing that we 'stole' was really this gem that one of Kilahs island friends gave to me a while back. I dont know how she got it but yeah... Im keeping it. Ive hidden it and Im not going to write down where because someone might read. Not that anyone ever reads this. But still. And thats really it. And now that Im bigger and reading this I realize I have horrible grammar and crud. Ill see if I can get someone to help. I dont really understand the ' and , s. Banda tried to explain when I was younger by yeah letters and spelling were hard enough then. Anywho thats all. More when it happens. Bye --Lyrus

I found Banda! He's -not- dead! He's actually been perfectly fine the whole time the b*****d. He has a new apartment and job and stuff and apparently he's just been too busy. Jerk. But yeah Kailee told me about the school so I went there and found him! And yelled at him for a while and then calmed down and we talked and stuff. He apologized and we're going to hang out more and such even though he's not coming back to Moo's. I might get to go live with him though. He said so. He's got some crappy room mate who he needs to talk to first and then he'll ask Moo about it and if things work out I get to go over there. Which would be great. No more Jax for one. He's also helping me with my writing 'cause apparently I was doing stuff wrong. Which is perfectly reasonable 'cause I had to teach myself so it's not my fault. But yeah these little ' dealies do have a purpose. And something called a comma but he said we'd work on that some other time. Annnnnd....uh... I really don't feel like writing right now. So screw this. --Lyrus

I ran into Lyrus yesterday... Or, rather, he hunted me down at the school. Apparently Kailee had never told everyone like I expected her to, and they were worried... And then she finally let it slip, and Lyrus came searching.
He 'cornered' me during the lunch period. I couldn't tell if he was overjoyed to see me or furious that I hadn't come to see him. it was a bit of both, to be honest. Back and forth, yelling and cheering--he almost cried. Lyrus never cries.
I'm not sure if I'm touched that he cares so more, or feel extremely guilty that I made him so upset.
I didn't mean to, you know. I didn't have much choice in the matter. I could have called or something, I suppose... It just slipped my mind.
Anywho, once he calmed down, we caught up on...er...everything. He wants to come stay over here. I told him I'd think about it, and then we'd have to ask Moo, and so on and so forth. I doubt Moo, how she is right now, would even notice if he left, but it's the principle of the matter.
And then there's the Ven factor.
I... Lyrus is a lot like Ven, just less...evil. Like, they're both prone to violence, and they both have horrible tempers, but Lyrus actually seems to care. He's got a few good friends, and, hell, he missed me. He's a sweet kid, he just has his bully moments.
But he and Venoch... They would clash. They'd both try to rule over the other, in a sense, and someone would get hurt, I'm sure. Lyrus wouldn't ever 'sink beneath' a monkey, and Ven doesn't take no for an answer. I see a fight.. And knowing Ven, and knowing what's happened to me living with him.... I really don't want risk Lyrus.
So I told him I would think about it. And maybe I'll have him and Ven meet before hand, and if that goes well, I'll say yes. But until I get -my- courage up enough to risk that, he's staying at Moo's. We're going to hang out ever so often, though. Oh, he's older now--not sure if I mentioned this. So he's much more agreeable than when he was a toddler and always wanted his way.
Like I said, nice kid. There's room in the apartment.. Gah, we'll see.
It all comes down to Venoch.

Life was oh so good. And, one step at a time, it was getting better. There had been a time in the not too distant past where things just seemed to be piling up, one after another, but now... Well, now was good. For example:
Jaxom's wrist was still broken, and should be for some time yet. He and Kilah were actually getting along well, unless you counted the somewhat choppy ending to their last meeting, which he didn't. And, best of all, Banda was home. Or, not home, but nearby, and had come to visit, and hadn't forgotten him after all. And Lyrus -might-, just might, be going to stay with him instead of Moo.
Good times, man.
Today was good, at least, if rather boring. Banda had gone back to that apartment where he was staying, Jaxom was marshalling Adroi and Coen against him... Lyrus had thought it best to escape the House and come to the center, which explained his present position: sprawled out on the grass with a now-larger Task, just lazing about and watching the clouds pass.
Good times.
Mignon dragged her hands through her hair and blew a bubble. It snapped and stuck to her nose, but she ignored it. She'd spotted a fluff of blue hair on the ground. From her current position, she really couldn't tell who it was. Maybe it was a new Sin! Hopefully a cute one, or at least one that was smart enough to know how great she was.
"Hey there!" She called, walking closer to the blue haired person. "Hiya!"
With the first call, Lyrus' face darkened, eyes closing as he searched for whatever ounce of patience he might have and just not know about. There went his peaceful afternoon. However, with Mignon's second call, it actually clicked who she was, and his smile returned. Eyes reopening, he grinned and rolled over, climbing to his feet and waving in greeting. "Hi Mignon! How're you?"
Task wasn't nearly so tolerant. The Cera gave her a haughty sniff, then slipped off to continue its nap in the garden. Noisy children.
The smile stayed in place for perhaps a moment untill she realzed exactly who had stood up. Her eyes opened wide and her hand flew to her mouth. Lyrus had hair! He had grown!
. . . He looked good!
It took a few moments for her to regain her voice. "Oh, Lyrus! Look at you!" Mignon squealed, clasping her hands together. "You grew! You're not broken! Look at your hair!" It took all the self restraint she had not to glomp the boy.
Mignon looked...surprised? Shocked? Lyrus blinked. ...Oh right. Grinning, he shrugged and folded his arms across his chest. "Yup. A few days back, actually. Isn't it great!?" And there went his restraint. Laughing, he spread his arms and stepped a little circle, just to show off, then closed the distance to Mignon and allowed himself a smug smirk. "And everything else has been going right since then, too! I think I must've been jinxed or something."
"I didn't expect it!" She squealed, clapping. "I saw Kilah a while back, and she said you two were getting along again, and that you had something cool to show me, but she didn't say what!"
When he got closer, she did have to hug him, laughing. "I'm glad! I told you it was worth waiting for, didn't I? And it was! You look awesome!"
Okay. Deeeep breaths. She let him go and stood back, still smiling. "What else has gone right for you?"
"Surprises always make things more interesting." Lyrus grinned, pleased that Kilah hadn't gone and spilled to Mignon. Not that he would have been mad if she had, but this reaction was fun. And, yeah, the hug was a bit awkward, but not altogether unpleasant. He returned it automatically and took a step back of his own afterwards, tempted to bow in thanks, but settling for fixing his grin--the hug had turned it lopsided.
"Yeah, you were right... And thanks. Better than I'd expected, I must admit. Especially the hair." Even if it was annoying at times. At least it suited him. Lyrus was very glad it hadn't turned into a mohawk like Mignon said it should. He glanced upwards towards his hair, then returned his gaze to Mignon, smiling. "I knocked Jaxom out of a tree and broke his wrist. Me an' Kilah are actually getting along, like she told you. And Banda didn't forget me after all! He came back to visit yesterday, and I might get to go live with him instead of having to stay with Moo."
Awww. He was so cute now. Not cute in a baby way, but cute in a.. different way. Expecially his smile. D'aaw.
Right. Listening. Not staring. Right. "Your hair looks great, and your horn is absolutley wicked."
"I'm glad." She said, smiling. "Expecially about about Banda. Is he okay? Where was he? I'll hafta visit you when you move in, and make sure this Banda's a cool guy."
Mignon's stare was a bit unnerving, but also a bit flattering once Lyrus decided it wasn't because his had some disgusting growth sticking off his face that he hadn't noticed before. Let her stare. It was perfectly fine with him! And it gave him something to rub in Jaxom's face later. Take that, cat boy.
"He's alright, I think." Lyrus' smile faltered somewhat, but he shrugged. "He's got all these weird cuts on his arms, but he says not to worry, and that he just got into an arguement with someone named Venoch who's living with him now. He's been staying in an apartment for the past few weeks, and he's working at the SM high school as an art teacher. He really likes living away from home, he says, but he does miss every sometimes, and he's sorry he hasn't come back sooner. He thought Kai had told me." At this Lyrus did frown. He would have to remember to yell at Kailee--his neice, actually, Isto's daughter--when he got home.
"That's good. I'm glad, glad, glad!" And she was. Poor Lyrus allways had bad s**t happen to him. But at least good things were happening to him now.
"Anything else new happen to you?" She asked. Not much new happened to her ever. Gawd. Living in the sticks was SO boring.
"Umm... A few days back this weird shape shifter girl showed up and thought me an' Kilah had stolen something from her, so she took me back to that island and was gonna kill me if Kilah didn't find the thing, but I escaped and got back and everything's great? And I know what she was looking for and I've hidden it." He grinned. True, his story had been rushed and left out just about all the interestingness, but what the heck. The point was that he was alive, the gem was hidden, and it had been something interesting to share.
"What about you? Anything happened since I last saw you?"
Oh, boy. "Kilah allways has all the fun, don't she?" She asked, grinning.
"Mmm, not really. I shopped, and I found out my friend Jani grew! She's really pretty now. But, you know, in a good way. She's still nice, and that's what matters." A nod to herself, then she sighed. "Nothing interesting ever happens to me." Mignon said, gloomily.
"If you could call it that... It was fun for me, anyway." Now that he thought back on it, it had been exciting, to say the least. Kilah hadn't gotten to do much. Oh well.
"Oh yeah, I met Jani! She is pretty," he replied absently. "We met for real a couple of days before I grew. She mentioned that you two're friends. She's nice," he agreed, smiling, then laughed. "Nothing interesting happens to me unless Kilah's around. Interesting in that way, anyway. Oh! I know something we can do! Um..hm.." Lyrus frowned, thinking, then waved vaguely in the general direction of his own home. "Wanna come over to my house? Me an' Kilah did this free fall thing, and I bet you'd love it! But I'd have to talk Umeri into it, and she likes girls better, so...yeah."
"Mhm." Mignon smiled happily. "Jani's a good girl. We've went shopping and stuff together. I'm glad you like her."
"Sure!" She chirped, grinning. "And maybe we can prod that Jax guy with a stick, or something." Violence, hanging with Lyrus, and something interesting. Definatly sounded better than what she'd done the day before!
"Sounds like a plan!" Lyrus grinned. At least one of his friends would hate Jax too! The cat boy was due for a beating anyway; Lyrus hadn't had a chance to slaughter Jax for tearing up his room yet. "C'mon, let's go. Task!" he shouted to no where in particular. Without waiting for the cera, he gestured for Mignon to follow and started back for the House. Task would catch up. He could be pretty fast when he wanted to.
"It's not a long walk. Have you ever been before?" He couldn't remember. Lyrus didn't think so. That imposter had pretended to be Mignon at his house, and that had been half of what had given it away to him. "You'll like it, I think. It's a nice place, but there're too many people. I hope I get to move out."
She jogged a bit to keep up with him. "No, I haven't. We've allways met up here. If I hadn't seen you today, I probably would have found my way over to your house. I have a pretty decent sense of direction. I even found that kid that likes spiders in the middle of the woods." Of course, that had totally been by accident. But, still. She hadn't wandered around untill she died.
"I hope you like living with Banda, then. He better be good to you, or I'll hafta wallop him good."
"I'm sure you would've sooner or later," Lyrus assured her with a nod, slowing his pace a bit so she could catch up. Kid who liked spiders? Lyrus didn't really know anyone who liked spiders. Though they were pretty cool, now that he thought about it... He could probably really freak out Moo if he had one big enough. He might have to meet this kid.
"Banda takes a lot of getting used to." He shrugged, glancing over to her with a smile. "But he's cool. He can't hear anything. Like, at all. It's sad, kinda, 'cause he really likes music from what I know, and he can't hear any, so he paints it instead. He's an artist. And now he's living with some other guy, and I think he might have a girlfriend, but I don't know for sure. He got all flustered after he mentioned her." Lyrus grinned.
"That is sad." She frowned. "Kinda like Kilah, but she's all blind and stuff. But that's okay. The Kilah that could see was weird, and I didn't like her. But if he paints, that's good. Paintings are nice." Now that he slowed a bit, she could catch up and walk beside him. That was nice.
She grinned at the mention of a girlfriend. "Sounds like he does! Whenever I tell my brother Conan that his girlfriend is coming over, he turns real red and says 'She's not my girlfriend!' It's funny."
"Banda could hear for a little while, 'cause Moo made him these special headphones, but then Noharu broke them..." His face darkened, but just as quickly he shrugged it off. He understood Noharu a bit better now. Of course, that didn't justify breaking poor Banda's headphones, but Lyrus probably would have done the same thing had he lived her life. "Banda's a real good artist. I'll show you his old studio when we get to the House."
Lyrus laughed, shrugging. "Banda just turned red and couldn't talk right for a bit. But I haven't met her, so I don't know if she's nice or anything yet. She gave banda the apartment where he's staying now. Or, he's renting it from her or something. It's weird, though." He paused. then shrugged once more, idly running and hand through his hair. "I thought Banda liked Noyama."
"Maybe when Moo gets uncrazy she'll make him another pair." She replied. "And it'd be cool to see paintings. I'm not much of an artist, but I like pretty things."
She digested the information and thought for a few moments. "Noya's a good person, I think. I haven't seen her in a while, but she seemed nice. Maybe he just wants to be her friend, and really likes the other girl. As long as he's not lying to anyone, it'll be fine."
"Moo's always been crazy." Lyrus grimaced at the thought; clearly he did not approve of his guardian. "She's just crazier than usual now. But maybe you're right, if she ever goes back to normal. I sure hope so. Banda deserves it. He gave me these pan pipe things as a 'Please forgive me and don't stab me' present, and I want him to be able to hear me play them once I actually can. Just because." Lyrus seemed a bit confused by his own words, possibly because they sounded incrediably sappy, but he brushed it aside.
"I don't think he's seen Noya in a long time." Certainly not since he had been kicked out of the house, and who knew when the last meeting before that had been. "Maybe. Or maybe he just forgot. I don't really care. It'd be weird if he and Noya hooked up. Me an' Kilah would be, like, family or something." And that would definitely be strange.
"Awww. Poor Banda." She sighed. From what he said, this Banda did seem like a nice person. "That's sweet, though. I bet he'd love to hear you play the pipes." She grinned and reached up to ruffle his har. Awww. Lyrus DID have a soft side. How cute.
"Heh. Big Sis Kilah." That though put a big smile on her face. "If you two fight a lot now, I bet you'd fight three times as much if you were family. Hopefully Banda doesn't like her. That'd be kinda scary."
"Yeah, yeah.." Lyrus rolled his eyes, grinning sheepishly and brushing her hand away. Shaking his hair 'neat', he shrugged and slipping his hands into his pockets. "I think he would. So, yeah, I'm gonna try. No one should have to go without hearing. Or seeing, for that matter..." Poor Kilah.
Pausing, Lyrus laughed, allowing himself a faint smirk. "I hate all my family. All the ones my age, anyway. I'd be obligated to hate Kilah to. But we wouldn't be siblings, 'cause Banda's my brother." He glanced sideways at her, grinning. "I'd be her uncle. Can you imagine that?"
"I don't think she lets it bother her." Mignon repied, tapping herself on the chin. "She's a strong girl. And I think she might stab you if you tried to go all uncle-lly on her."
She sighed and put her hands behind her head. "I don't get along with much of my family, either. Rene's okay, sometimes, 'cause she likes to beat people with chains. I can't stand being around Ma anymore. She's such a colossal b***h."
"Oh, I know. On both counts," he added, grinning faintly. Then, shrugging, continued. "But still. It must be a pain not being able to see anything. And even though she pretends it doesn't bother her, I bet it does. Sometimes, at least. I know it really bothers Banda that he can't hear, even though he pretends it doesn't..."
Accepting the subject change, he grinned and glanced back to her, withdrawing his hands from his pockets and idly beginning to toy with his knife--the green folding blade he had gotten for his child quest. It had become habit. "My family's a bunch of idiots. The only cool one is Isto, but he's married to a guy, and then Banda, who's...well, Banda. But everyone else is stupid. I think some have the potential to be cool, but those really don't give a rat's a** about me, so they're not."
"Their loss, our gain." She said with a shrug. "You need to get smarter family members, then. They wouldn't know a good thing if it walked up and smacked 'em in the face." A pause. "But you could do that, just to make sure. Maybe a good smack or two is what they need."
"Isto is cool." She agreed, then grinned. "Shame you didn't grow a moehawk, but you look cool as it is."
"I hadn't thought of that," he mused, blinking vaguely at nothing in particular. However, something told him that hitting random family members wasn't going to make them any better. ...Oh well! It'd be fun, at least. "I don't want anymore family members. There're too many right now." And that was a fact. Lyrus had lost count, especially with people coming and going and coming back recently.
"Isto's cool sometimes. When you forget that he kisses a guy and that his children are incrediably irritating. But I guess his motorcycle makes up for it..." Damn, that was a nice bike. It had been a while since Lyrus had been able to talk Isto into giving him a ride. He'd have to bug him about it later. "I'd have looked weird with a mohawk. Maybe when I'm older...But I doubt it. I bet it'd be even more annoying that this hair."
"Motorcycles are awesome." She agreed. "You're lucky that you get to move out, though. I'm stuck with all my stupid relitives. There's way too many of 'em." She paused for a moment, trying to count. She finally settled on: "Just way too many."
"You can come stay with us if you want," Lyrus offered, shrugging. "I bet Banda wouldn't mind. That guy he lives with might, but I don't care. I'm gonna stab him anyway for cutting up Banda's arms." He scowled, snapping his knife shut, then blinked and glanced up, nodding ahead. "Just through the trees now."
Lyrus had picked a narrow area of the forest to walk through, and thus it was only another minute or two before they reached the clearing and the House within it. Gesturing for Mignon to follow, he approached the center pair of double doors and pushed them open, waiting until Mignon had entered to let it close, then starting for the staircase at the end. "We need to find Chidez, then we'll go out back and find Umeri."
"Need any help, just tell me." She said with a nod. "Anyone who makes you mad'll make me mad. Expecially if they hurt Banda."
She looked around the house with a slight smile. "So this is where Lyrus lives." She said, amused. "Who're Chidez and Umeri?"
"I don't leave my room often," he admitted, glancing around the hall. "We can go see it on the way if you want. You might like it. It's kinda fancy." Not that the whole house wasn't, but Lyrus' room was, well...not the room one would expect of a male child. Far too neat and formal, for one. "And I'll show you Banda's studio on the way outside." It was near the back door, and they would have to go that way to find Umeri anyway.
"Chidez is a gryffon," Lyrus continued, shrugging. "Kinda like Kilah's Gizmo, but I think he might be bigger. He's Moo's, but he's pretty cool. He's gonna catch us. And then Umeri's Moo's pegasus, and she's a complete wuss, but she likes girls, so I think if you call her she'll agree to take us for a fly. Once we're in the air, she'll calm down. I think."
"Sure!" Mignon replied, smiling big. "I'd love to see your room! And the studio." She added quickly.
"A griffin?" She asked, thinking. She thought that Gizmo was just a weird, feathered dog. "Okay. Just tell me what to do when we get there, and I'll do my best!"
"Alright," he replied cheerfully, pleased. Changing direction somewhat, he turned down another hallway and led the way to the very end, where a set of double doors led out to a balcony. However, instead of going through them, he turned and entered the door at the end of the hall, holding it open for her and closing it behind them once she had entered.
"My room!" Grinning faintly, he gestured around the room, which Moo was far too lazy to describe, and can be found in his log if you're really that interested. "What do you think?"
A smile slowly crossed her face as she looked around. The room was, well, like Lyrus. But much neater than she would have expected.
"You're a neat one, aren't you?" She mussed. "Everything in here is as organized as my shoe cabinet. The rest of my room is trashed, though. It's neat in here, really. I like it." She shot him a big smile.
"Is that Jax guy around here? Might as well hit two birds with one stone and go hit him while we're around."
He shrugged. "I don't like it being messy." And he didn't. Haven't clothes and trash and whatnot all over the floor just made it look nasty and cluttered and completely ruined the effect of all his glass stuffs. It was worth the work to keep it clean just to show off the glass.
"Thanks," he added, returning the smile. However, the look soon faded and he scowled, shrugging once more. "I dunno where he is. He's not worth the trouble, though. And his wrist is still broken, so it'd be too easy for the both of us."
"Awww, allright." She smiled playfully and gave him a punch on the upper arm. "You ever need help beatin' him back down to size, just tell me. Pro'lly piss him off, getting hurt by a girl." Not that Mignon was sure she could hurt him. Hopefully Jax wouldn't hit girls.
"So, what now? Go prod Banda at his workshop or find those flyiing thingies?" Mignon asked him, linking arms with the Lamb boy.
"Will do," Lyrus replied with a grin. Normally he would have gone off about how he didn't need help in beating the pulp out of Jaxom, but this was Mignon, and Mignon had beaten up someone in her dance class with a baton. She was a good person to have around when things were looking to get bloody.
Good stuff, man.
"Let's go check out the studio," he continued, linking arms and steering her back out the door. "I think you'll like it. Banda's really good, and most of his stuff's still here 'cause Moo chased him away so quickly." Not to mention he had painted the walls of the studio. As he led the way back towards the stairs, Lyrus paused near another hallway, yelling down it instead of bothering to search out the actual inhabitant. "CHIDEZ. Meet me in the backyard in ten, alright?"
No response. But Lyrus knew the gryffon had heard him and would obey. Chidez was good like that. And once outside, they could find Umeri. Satisfied, he continued for the stairway. "The studio's down by the back door."
"If you say I'll like it, I'm sure I will." She replied. "Is Banda there now? I'd like to meet who you're gonna live with. Make sure he's cool enough for you." The last was added in a somewhat teasing tone. If he liked Banda, that was good enough.
"I doubt it..." Lyrus shrugged. It was unlikely. "He tends to avoid the place, 'cause Moo chases him away when she sees him if Pod's not the to make her be nice. I'll make sure you meet him soorner or later, though," he promised, grinning.
It wasn't long before they reached the studio and, after messing with the lock for a bit, Lyrus shoved the door open and gestured Mignon inside. "Make yourself at home!"
The studio was a piece or art in itself. Each of the four walls was elaborate painted into a mural of one scene or another: a thunder storm over a lake, a forest clearing flecked with sunbeams, a vibrant coral reef, complete with hidden wildlife, and the depths of a natural cave, rock formations springing from both floor and ceiling. Each seemed to draw the onlooker in, until one was so caught up in the scene that the studio seemed to fall away and leave only the storm, or the cave, or whichever happened to draw in that particular person.
Certainly Banda was a much better artist than anyone had let on.
The SkullMonkey had even gone so far as to paint the ceiling, though for this he had gone out on a limb, depicting an astounding seen of a galaxy and the surrounding stars, picked from the heavens as if one were floating alongside it. Truely marvelous.
Once one bothered to turn away from the murals, he or she would notice the various smaller paintings set around the studio, some half finished, some completed and set aside for the new. Paints and brushes and forgotten cups of dirtied water were set on a small table in one corner or randomly around the floor, and the tiles were flecked with drops of paint. Banda didn't bother with cleanliness here. It was his studio. It would just get dirty again.
"Stupid Moo." She sniffed, tossing her hair.
Even her halfway displeased mood disapeared when she got into the stuido. She gasped, grinning, and spun around in circles in an attempt to see everything at once. "Wow, oh wow!" She breathed, still spinning. "Lyrus, Banda is Amazing!" Mignon turned towards Lyrus, her eyes bright. "If he can paint this good, he has to be a good person! This stuff comes from the inside!"
"Mmhmm." Lyrus merely grunted in agreement. Moo was stupid. No question.
And the grin returned, and he joined Mignon in looking around the studio, nodding. "Isn't it great? I told you so! It took him ages to get all this done, though. Months and months."
Turning, he approached the 'storm' wall scene, carefully tracing a finger over various rain drops. "Banda lost his hearing when he was really little. He told me that when he was growing up, he used to paint sounds... As he imagined them, anyway. It made him look at art different. And then when he got his hearing back, even though it was only for a little while, he started work on these." Pausing, he let his hand fall and shrugged. "His headphones got broken before he finished, though."
"I'd bet!" She said, still turning around to see everything. "It must have taken a lot of paint to get it so awesome looking."
She pulled back a little and smiled at him. "I feel sorry for Banda, not being able to hear. But he's lucky, 'cause he gets to hang with you. Maybe he'll paint stuff of you."
"Banda would spend just about all his free time painting when he was still here, Lyrus admitted, turning to admire the cave scene. "He'd have to leave this door and the back door open 'cause it'd always smell like paint and he'd get all woozy if he didn't." He snickered. That had been a funny sight. Poor Banda.
Glancing back to her out of the corner of his eye, he shrugged. "He's used to it, I think. Not happy about it, but used to dealing with it. Kinda like Kilah and her eyes. He doesn't want people to feel sorry for him." Again shrugging, he grinned. "Banda doesn't like painting people much. But maybe."

"How can she kick ME out? ME?! Can you believe that?! I thought I could trust her!" While Kilah on rampage wasn't an uncommon sight, this time she seemed really, REALLY pissed. Stab-your-eyes-out-and-toss-your-remains-in-the-river type pissed. Just...ugh! There were no words for it! Of course, that didn't stop her from ranting, but the words didn't come near describing the rage.
The Sin'aeis paced angrily outside the mansion, stomp her feet harder than nesscary as she went back and forth, back and forth. From the sidelines, even watching was terrifying! Well, for Karoko, who's wide blue eyes watched the girl as if she was a snake ready to strike at any second. Gizmo, however, was well adjusting to these outbursts by now. Infact, he almost seemed bored.
Pan pipes were stupid. Lyrus frowned down at the instrument in his hand, idly flipping them around before lifting them to his lips and attempting another series of notes. Almost immediately he grimaced and pulled them away, scowling at the pipes for a moment before giving up and wedging them into his belt. Stupid things. They always sounded...off. Sharp was the word, Banda has said, even if he couldn't hear them.
And practice makes perfect.
Screw practice, Lyrus thought to himself, extremely tempted to just toss the pipes. however, a familiar voice ranting at the top of its lungs distracted him to the point where the pipes were no longer important. he would deal with them later. Right now, he had to make his friend shut up. "Oi Kilah! What're you yelling about this time?"
"Maelon! Where are you going?"
Mae looked up absently from the blue sneakers he was putting on, purple eyes on his protector. "To the mansion. I told Maru." The deer boy scowled at him, before stalking off to go interrogate the said merman. Heh. Poor Maru. He had to deal with a prissy deer boy. Pry had been pissed as heck lately, all of Havok's little 'gifts' to his 'beloved and supposedly innocent' Sin'aeis boy apparently having bothered him immensely. The dark chocolate Sin really hated to break it to the deer boy that none of the above described him in the slightest. I mean, honestly. He was dark chocolate. It wasn't like he was cream pudding or pecan pie. He was a dark element. He had every right to ride around on a skateboard, keep a pet snake and experiment with poisons on harmless animals. Jeeze.
Blue hat retrieved from its hook, Maelon slipped out the door, making sure to shut it audibly. That way they would know he was gone. It was something Havok had taught him. He didn't have to slam the darn thing like Chibi did when he was having a hissy fit, but he needed to at least make it noticed that the door was shut. Taking a moment to enjoy his freedom - the house was stuffy as hell now that Pryderi had decided to watch his every move - the Sin'aeis finally set off in the direction of the mansion. Maybe Yuki would be there. Miggy might be there too. She was pretty cool. Brought back to the present by the sounds of cursing, Mae coasted on his skateboard, regarding the pair before him quizzically. What was that brown-haired one ranting about? Jeeze. He'd gone from one rant-fest to another. How excellent. Dragging the toe of his sneaker to slow down, Mae let his skateboard slow to a stop near the pair. He stepped on the end, neatly flipping the board up under his arm. "Where's the fire?"
Where's the fire? Real funny, jackass, Kilah thought bitterly. Who was that, anyway? She recognized them, but...sort of didn't. Wait, why did she care enough to even think it over? Screw whoever it was. This was about her, after all!
In situations like these, she had always counted on Lyrus making it worse. For the moment her mind was telling her she'd been right to do so. But of course, Kilah was always right. "You want to know what I'm YELLING about?" She hissed, grinding her teeth together. "LUCKY threw me out of MY house! My house!"
Gizmo's eyes narrowed. "Wark!" He called over, sounding dissapointed.
"Alright, so I made Yama cry, but ANYONE could do that!" Jeesh, it wasn't like she'd comitted some unspeakable crime. "And THEN I got stuck babysitting! Why are we even watching her?! Let's just ignore the fact her "mother" almost DROWNED me, shall we?!" Kilah? Over-react? Nooo. Never.
Karoko cowered behind the griff about, her ears as low as they could possibly be. Her eyes, too, were downcast, looking quite guilty.
Lyrus' attention was briefly distracted by the arrival of the new boy, but he quickly returned it to Kilah. Okay, not really. Who was this guy? And what was that thing he'd been rolling on? He hadn't seen one of those before, and it looked pretty cool. Not as cool as free falling, but maybe almost. He graced the boy with a nod in greeting, then snapped his gaze back to Kilah and attempted to listen to her rant.
...Same old same. Kilah had made Noya cry so Lucky had thrown her out. Really, Lyrus wasn't that surprised. Yama did cry easily. But babysitting...? He glanced around, gaze soon falling on the bat girl, and flashed her a grin, waving slightly. "Ahh, stop whining. It's not like she's any trouble at all. She's not even loud! try babysitting Coen. Now that's annoying."]
Mae took a moment to size up the boy beside him, his head tilted in interest. He didn't really meet many boys his age. He liked boys better than girls, most definitely, but his protector seemed to think that he needed to only be exposed to the female population of Sin. Maybe it was some subliminal message. Be straight. Don't be gay like half the other people in your house. Whatever. He's too young to understand such subliminal messages. Nodding back to Lyrus, he focused back on the ranting girl in front of him. Che. That was all? She had made some kid cry and so she was sulking because she got thrown out of the house? Heck, Maelon was glad when he got to leave the house without being followed by his over-protective guardian.
The dark chocolate boy rolled his eyes, sighing inwardly. Yep. From one rant-fest into another. Now if only he could decide which one was stupider. Purple eyes moved to the bat girl curiously for a moment, before returning to the girl. "She don't look like a handful to me. She's just sittin' there." He said dully, spinning one of the wheels of his skateboard idly. "An' if you don't like babysittin', pawn her off to someone else. Easy peasley."
Whoever else was there, they were certainly annoying. Not like Yukito annoying, like Aard annoying. Only, they weren't Aard, because she would always recognize Aard. More like-
Realization. "Hey, aren't you that little brat Mae?" Kilah questioned sourly. "I remember you, you're the one who said I couldn't do anything because I'm blind, aren't you?" Idiot. It was him. No doubt about it now. "Sorry, Lyrus, I can't be around this guy without hurting him. Lucky said if I show Karoko any violence she'll kick my a**." She'd do it, too.
"Let's go, Giz." The griff was happy to comply, infact seeming relieved when Karoko was placed on his back and Kilah hauled herself up after. The griff took to the air and soon the three were gone.
"Well, bye then," Lyrus muttered, far too late. Gizmo was already too high for them to hear. Of course, Kilah could hear just about anything...but still. Scowling faintly now, he waited until they were lost to sight, then glanced back to Maelon and quirked a brow. "Way to go, dumbass. Now Kilah'll be pissy for the rest of the day and bug the crud out of everyone. The least you could've done was given me time to cheer her up before you chased her away."
Okay, not the best of greetings, but let's face it. Kilah was best friend, this guy...Lyrus had never met. And no, he didn't seem that bad, but oh well. Lyrus would see.
"I'm as tall as you." Mae shot back, baring his teeth at her regardless of the fact that she couldn't see. Stupid kid. And just when he was starting to think that girls could actually be okay for a change, he had to meet her again. It was enough to remind him why he detested girls. They were like her. Jeeze. "Ugly chicken..." He grumbled under his breath, glad that she was gone. Though, mind you, he might have enjoyed another fist-fight with her. The first one had been rather whimpish. He would have liked to do more than just bite her. Next time. He'd make sure they sorted things out.
He narrowed his eyes at Lyrus's comment, before snorting softly. "Che. She's not your responsibility, one horn. Let her be pissy. You don't have to listen to her anymore. " He shrugged his shoulders noncommittally. It didn't matter anymore. He didn't have to deal with her. Whoever had put her in a bad mood would have to deal with it. Tough luck for them.
"Listen to her?" Lyrus actually laughed. Since when did he listen to Kilah? Kilah might be the self proclaimed leader of her mafia, but that didn't mean Lyrus had to listen to her. Had he ever listened to her? then tended to get in huge arguements whenever one tried to make the other do anything. Lyrus took that for a no. "We're friends. Friends're supposed to make sure their friends don't piss the heck out of everyone." And that they're happy and crud like that, but that wasn't the point.
Deciding there were more interesting topics to discuss, Lyrus turned towards the new boy and quirked a brow, eyes briefly flickering back to the skateboard before settling on Maelon's face. "So, who're you, then? I thought I knew all the kid Sins."
Mae snickered quietly at Lyrus's definition of 'friend.' So that's what they were supposed to do. Hold the chain so that the more aggressive ones didn't attack people. Interesting concept. He liked the way this one-horned boy thought. "So it appears." He murmured, wondering how Akilah actually managed to have any friends. Then again, Pry said it was a wonder that people liked him on some days, so he supposed that it wasn't impossible to be bitchy and have friends. Besides, he wasn't bitchy to Yuki. Maybe Kilah was sort of nice to this one-horn. That was, of course, if she knew what being nice was.
His question caused the dark chocolate boy to tilt his head. Another one of those 'I like meeting people' Sin's? Here he had thought Mignon was the only one. There were actually more of her? "Yeah, well I dunno you either. I dunno all the kids here." Not that he actually wanted to, but whatever. "'s Maelon." He added, noticing Lyrus's repeated looks towards his skateboard. "Never seen a skateboard before?"
Well, really, that was what friends did for each other. Unless the victim of one's rage also happened to be an enemy of the other, in which case both friends pummeled the helpless sap. It was just how friendships worked. On another note, Lyrus couldn't stand most Sins--specifically those younger than him. But the lamb Sin had always prided himself on knowing all of those older than him, even if he didn't know all of the Sin'aeis like Mignon seemed to. Older in the sense that they had grown at least to child. But he didn't know this boy.
"Lyrus," he replied after a moment. "I know all of the kids, but not most of the toddlers and under. Not that I want to." Babies were just plain annoying, and most toddlers were nearly as bad. There were always a few acceptions, but for the most part... "No, I haven't," he countered, frowning. No point faking it. That thing looked cool. Lyrus shrugged, "I haven't heard of 'em. Where'd you get it?"
Maelon didn't like meeting people in general, unless of course that person was Yuki. On some occasions, he wouldn't mind seeing Mignon. Other than those two, he didn't want to see anyone. He liked his spiders, and seeing as they understood each other, they were friends enough. Besides, what other friend could you carry in your pocket? Sin'aeis friends thought too much. The toddlers were always violent and the babies cried too much. The kids were okay, but that still didn't make them worth going out of his way to visiting. So excuse him for not knowing Lyrus. He's antisocial.
So the one-horn's name was Lyrus? That was a pretty cool name. So he hadn't heard of a skateboard? He probably didn't read magazines. Not that Mae had actually been supposed to be reading Chibi's magazines, but the tanuki did have a habit of leaving them out. "Havok. He's the boyfriend of one of my protectors." Spinning the wheel once again, he set it down, setting his foot on it. "'s a bit weird to get a first, but it's a lot faster than walking." He slid it forward, and then back, enjoying the sound of wheels against the concrete. "You come here often, Lyrus?"
The skateboard intrigued Lyrus. He hadn't ever seen one before but, now that he thought about it, he shouldn't have been surprised by it. It was just a board on wheels, really. Anyone could put a board on wheels. Thought, this one did look pretty cool. "Seems like it would be." That was certainly a good point to it. He would have to ask Banda if he could get one. Walking back and forth got old quickly.
Pulling his gaze from the skateboard, he returned his eyes to Maelon and shrugged. "On occasion." Which meant yes, every few days or so. But he never seemed to meet anyone new. Mignon and Kilah, and rarely Yuki or Jani. It didn't really count, Lyrus decided. "Anything to get out of the house, you know?" True, it was big, but even big could be stuffy--especially when one had to live with Jaxom and crew.
True, anyone could make a board on wheels, but there was much more to a skateboard than just that. The wheels had to be just right to support the board, and then there were the trucks that had to be on properly so that the board could support the weight of the rider (as well as let them steer.) And if you were going to just ride on a board, you're slip off, which was why you needed risers and grip tape. Skateboarding was quite complicated, for the people who got involved in it. It was much more than just a board on wheels. Mae knew. Havok had given him the instruction manual, which he had poured over almost as much as the skateboard itself. But there was the dark chocolate boy for you.
"It's pretty awesome." He said, gazing fondly down at the board. It had made his life so much easier. Mind you, it wasn't much use in the forest, but when he actually got out for a change, it worked wonders. No more walking, and he got to look cool. Double bonus. He nodded at Lyrus's comment about 'getting out', glad at least some appreciated freedom like he did. "Of course. The protectors can't seem to make up their minds, though. They complain about us, but then get all clingy when we want to leave." He scoffed softly.
Undoubtably, the lamb boy would decide against skateboarding once her learned just how complicated it really was. He would just have to find some other way. Maybe a bike or something... It wasn't as cool looking, but it wasn't as complicated. Fun things shouldn't be so complicated. Except, perhaps, when it came to manipulting glass. With that, the more complex, the better.
"I doubt my protector would let me have one. He'd be scared I'd break my neck or something." Honestly, Banda was such a wuss sometimes. Moo, Lyrus knew, could care less in her current state, but Banda would undoubtably complain about it. A pity, seeing as Lyrus planned to go live with him.
"Mine could care less, I think." Laughing bitterly, Lyrus shrugged and dropped his defensive manner--at least, for the time. Slipping a hand into his pocket, he absently withdrew his flip knife and snapped it open, then closed, idly repeating the movements with one hand. It had become habit; his hands didn't like being taskless. "The guy who used to take care of me moved out, and since then no one's bothered. I leave whenever I feel like it. No one notices anymore."
"Che. That's dumb." Mae replied, raising an eyebrow. Even he had managed to keep his skateboard, despite having a protector like Pryderi. Did the Lyrus kid have an even stricter guardian? Jeeze. And he thought he had it tough. It sounded like the one-horned boy wouldn't be able to keep snakes and spiders either, if his protector didn't allow him to have a skateboard. Now that would really suck. The dark chocolate Sin felt a small amount of pity for the lamb Sin. No spiders, no snakes, and no skateboards. Damn he was unlucky in the protector field.
Sounded like one of Lyrus's protectors was like Chibi. Wanted to know where the kid was, but didn't stop him from leaving. "Onena my protectors is like that. He doesn't care where I go, s'long as I'm back home before my other one has a heart attack." He chuckled softly at the thought of a panicking Pryderi. Oh Chibi panicked too, but not about Maelon. That tanuki was pretty laid back. Purple eyes were drawn suddenly to the knife, causing Mae to tilt his head. "You got a knife?" Personally, the dark chocolate boy preferred poisions to knives, but they were still cool.
"It is," Lyrus muttered in reply, scowling faintly. Really, it was nice that Banda cared about him at least, but some things were a bit too far. Maybe he could get a skateboard and practice in secret for a while, and by the time Banda found out he'd be good enough that the SM wouldn't worry? It was a possibility. But then he would have to buy it for himself. ...Oh well, he could steal some money from Moo. She wouldn't notice.
"My good protector got kicked out of the House," he continued after a beat, again shrugging. "My real guardian completely lost it and just booted him. And she doesn't give a damn about me, so I'm pretty much on my own. I might be moving in with the good one soon, though." Or so he kept telling himself. Banda had said he could, but there was Banda's roommate to consider, and then Moo might suddenly take interest and insist he stay. Moo was greedy like that.
"Knife?" Lyrus blinked, then followed the boy's gaze to his own hand. "Oh, right." He hadn't even realized he was toying with it. Typical. "Yeah, isn't it great? I got it during my child quest. It's a lot easier to carry around than my old dagger." And he could actually attack with this one, if he so chose to. The last was cursed, and could be used for self defense only. How dull was that?
Mae tilted his head at Lyrus's story. Heck, he'd heard Chibi threaten to kick Havok out of the house, but the tanuki had never actually gone through with it. Did people actually really boot people out of their houses? It was a very strange concept. But whatever. Maybe being kicked out was a normal thing. The house he lived in could hardly be called normal. Shrug.
The Sin'aeis boy regarded the knife with mild interest, having never actually seen one up close. It certainly was pretty, and it was shiny too. But knives were too bulky. He preferred his own weapons. They were a bit more secretive. "For your kid quest? Nice. I got poison." The mention of poison sparked a strange glint in Maelon's eyes, fangs more pointed in his smile. True, he hadn't actually been meant to have the poison, but that was an entirely different story.
Had Moo been in her right mind, she would have never even thought to kick Banda out. After all, if she could tolerate Kama and Iago, Banda most certainly wasn't a problem. As it was, however, Banda had been the first person Moo had run in to after her mind reverted back to before. And the new Moo hadn't been pleased. Banda had been booted to the streets, and one recently had anyone heard from him again. But better late than never.
Daggers, in Lyrus' opinion, were bulky and ill suited for any stealth work, though he had heard that they could be thrown with amazing accuracy... Certain ones, at any rate. That was double underlined on his list of things to learn, second only to playing he pan pipes, and that was simply of a need to cheer up his 'big brother'. In the mena time, daggers themselves were too much trouble to carry around. His knew knife was much better. An bit longer than his hand when opened, it was thin and sleek enough that, folded, could easily be hidden almost anywhere. Lyrus loved it.
"Poison?" He raised a brow, genuinely surprised. This kid had gotten poison? ...How cool was that! Of course, poison really wasn't Lyrus' style, but it could only ever help. However, Lyrus quickly shoved any plot ideas aside, too pleased with finding someone of like mind to bother right now. Really, he and Maelon had a lot in common. Or, liked the same things by the sound of it, even if they hadn't both attempted them. Actually, Maelon was the first male Sin'aeis Lyrus had met who wasn't disturbingly nice or a complete wuss. This kid had potential. "Used it on anything yet?"
The dark chocolate boy almost thought for a moment that the one-horn wouldn't believe him. After all, getting his hands on poison wasn't something every kid could do. Ah, the joys of having a scientist as a father. You had so many resources. However, Lyrus didn't seem to question him about truth. His question was actually quite an interesting one. Had he used it on anything? The grin on Maelon's face got wider. Of course he had! "What would be the point of getting poison if you don't use it?" He said softly, still remembering the tests he had done on those foul creatures out in the forest. They had been dumb enough to come close and take the bait. They deserved the antidote testing that they got. "It was rattler poison. Nothing too strong, but enough." He added, wishing he had brought it along for proof. "Tarantula poison would be much better, but Kitten wouldn't give me any."
Lyrus had been stabbing people since he was a baby. He had a 'sister' who was nine inches tall and knew enough chemistry to blow up their house. Not for one second did he doubt someone his age could get their hands on poisons. Indeed, that the dark chocolate boy seemed so pleased about them only boosted Lyrus' approval of his new aquaintance. Nodding, he returned the grin. "Exactly what I was thinking. Tarantula... Those're those big spiders, right? The really hairy ones? Did Kitten give you the rattler poison?" Lyrus hadn't the faintest idea who Kitten was, but it certainly didn't sound like the kind of name one would associate with poisons. Jaxom had a kitten. Lyrus wanted to throw it out the window.
So he agreed? That just gave Lyrus some more brownie points. Besides, he needed a friend that liked doing strange things like he did. He didn't want to corrupt poor innocent Yuki. When it came to someone who was already corrupted, then he was game for just about anything.
"Mhmm. Furry. Not hairy." He corrects, having spent enough time around his own beloved tarantula to know how beautifully soft she is. Hairy is more like... his little brother. His spiders are furry. "Naw, Havok did. He's my protector's boyfriend." Boyfriend, lover, general causer of havoc. You know. A man of many descriptions. "Kitten wouldn't give me her venom. She's a tarantula."
Of course he agreed! Had Lyrus the luck to come across some new poison, his first reaction would be to test it on someone. Probably his brothers. With a double dose for Jaxom. That would be fun, actually...hmm...
"Furry, then." Lyrus had never really thought of a spider as furry. Task, his cera, was furry. Spiders were prickly and hairy looking. But Lyrus up to arguing about adjectives. Let them guy call them furry if he wanted. "Ahh, I see. ...You have a tarantula?!"
Ten points to Maelon. The lamb boy was grinning from ear to ear. Flicking his knife closed, he repocketed it, nodding absently to himself. "That's awesome! The most I have is a firelizard." But at least Vin was smart. Kitten the tarantula couldn't claim that, he would bet. "....You named a spider 'Kitten'?"
Maelon had actually pondered testing it out on one of his family members, but the only one dumb enough to drink poison would be Sachiya, and he wouldn't currently be standing here talking to Lyrus. There was no evidence that he had tried the rattler venom on those rat things. Besides, venom had rather negative effect on people, or so he'd heard.
"Of course I do." Mae said rather proudly, grinning from pointed ear to pointed ear. His spiders were his pride and joy. It was always awesome when someone else actually took interest in them. Not too many people liked spiders, though he still didn't know why. They were much better than dogs and cats. "I have a black Peruvian spider too." Yes, his newest bratty addition. Always complaining about the unfairness of life. Bagira was such a silly spider. However, Lyrus's next comment caused the dark chocolate boy to frown slightly. What was wrong with his spider's name? "'s for scaring people. People wanna see a kitten, but instead they see a spider. Then they leave me alone." Now that was a good lie if he ever told one.
A tarantula. That was pretty damn awesome. But at the same time, Lyrus wasn't exactly sure he'd want a pet tarantula. It didn't seem like they could do much, really, and while he did like spiders, letting one crawl all over you was a differetn story entirely. Oh, he had no doubt that he'd get used to it after a bit, but all the same. He was happy with what he had. He didn't have room for a tarantula, anyway.
"Ahh, I see." He nodded, grin returning. That made sense, anyway. Why else would anyone name a spider 'Kitten'? "I never thought of that," he mused aloud. "'Course, I don't really have anything most people'd consider scary. Tzil's slimy... but I guess that's not the same."

Laundry. A nesscary evil. Noyama. An underapreciated demon slave of said nesscary evil. Though, it was alright, she had nothing better to do. None of her daughters--or her single son--seemed to really need her all that much anymore. It was a harsh truth, but really...they didn't seem to need her at all.
"Twila!" She called over to the girl from the clothesline as she spotted her leaving the home. "Where going?"
"Shopping," she answered, not even bothering to glance over her shoulder let alone stop walking.
"Want go with you?" Noyama questioned, more hopeful than anything. Her ears lowered when the girl continued and shook her head.
"I'm okay!" Twila called in reply. "See you later!" And she was gone. The last of them to leave, actually.
Despite her bitter feelings toward Noharu, Kilah had become surprisingly fond of Karoko...as much as one like Kilah could, anyway. She'd gone somewhere with her, and with Lucky, hence why the protector wasn't worried. Sango had gone off to visit her friends, and Kotoki...That boy wasn't social anyway. Who knew where he was.
Shrugging the dissapointment the rejection of her company brought on, she pulled out another shirt and hung it carefully up. The familiar dark purple color stared back at her, "Don't make me slap a b***h." written across it in white. Definetly Kilah's.
It was sheer coincidence that Banda happened to be in the area. He had spent most of the morning at the SkullMonkey HQ, but, when no one had shown up, Venoch's restlessness had finally convinced him to leave. They had left, the infant perched on his usual spot on Banda's shoulder, the physical embodiment of a shoulder demon. Or so Venoch liked to think.
The walk home led them past this area, and it wasn't long before Banda recognized the place. On a whim, he changed directions and, ignoring complaints from Ven, started for Noyama's house--passing Twila on the way, in fact.
It was long before house, clothesline, and girl came into view. Grinning faintly, Banda slowed his pace and raised a hand in greeting, ignoring an annoyed his from his shoulder. "Noya? Hi, um...Need any help with that?"
The focus she'd had on the shirt had been intense for such a simple task. That which was reading the white writing. She could understand only 'me', and frowned at that. Kilah had been right. She should know how to do these things!
In the midst of arguing with herself over what to do about her daughters recent anger issues she was positive sparked from the fact she hardly qualified as a 'good' mother figure, a voice broke her thoughts and brought her back to the present. "Oh, hel-" And she froze, staring at him for a few seconds. "-lo."
The pause was short, but long enough for her to think. Kilah didn't talk to her, she only talked with Lucky. Still, Kilah was loud, and it wasn't uncommon for everyone in the house to hear everything she said. Suddenly aggravated, the demons ears lowered again, in a more fierce way than they had last time.
"No," she answered angrily, an odd tone for her. Sharply, she turned back to her task. In the surprise of Banda alone being here, Venoch went completely unnoticed for now. Not that Noyama was a very observant one...
"Oh." Banda's smile faltered, hand closing and sinking back to his side. Her tone had gone unnoticed--he couldn't hear her, after all--but her expression was enough to hint at it. Briefly he debated simply leaving. She didn't seem to happy to see him, after all. Ah well, there went that hope...
However, Venoch had something else in mind. This was somewhere new and, bitchy woman or not, he intended to explore it. The young SM crouched on Banda's shoulder, eyeing the distance to the ground, then ran down his caretaker's back, talon-like claws reopening holes they had already torn in the fabric before he jumped to the ground and started away. Every few days Banda would sew them up again, but his beloved coat still looked the worse for wear.
Banda's back arched slightly in an attempt to avoid the claws and once Ven was on the ground he shot the infant a frown, while the demon ignored. Sighing, he decided he might as well make the best of the situation and tried again, leaving the infant to his explorations and waking towards Noya. "You sure? Everything'd be hung up faster, and the.. Maybe we could talk? Or something..?"
Noyama leered at him. "Maybe you should go fall off the face of the Earth, since you're so good at it," the teenager muttered in the island language. It hardly seemed nesscary, since she could just as easily say it and English and he wouldn't hear it. It was in times of anger she reverted to her native tounge.
"No, no help," she repeated, a hint of warning in her voice. It wouldn't have any effect what so ever, but... Well, quite frankly she was just pissed off. "What talk about?" It was more of a hiss than a question.
As rare as her temper once, when it finally came out, it seemed vicious enough to rival Kilah's every day attitude.
By now Banda was very confused, and more than a little hurt. Had he done something wrong? Noya had said something he couldn't understand, even if he had been able to hear it, and what followed was rather...cold, and angry, and not at all like the Noyama he remembered.
"I-i dunno," he admitted, eyes falling to the ground. Out of habit, he lifted his hand to rub the back of his neck, confusion getting the better of his words--it was hard to pronounce anything correctly when you couldn't hear yourself and were too busy worrying to pay attention. "Jus' mizzed ya, an' was aroun', so I.. Dunno, though' I'd drop by an' say hi, an', ah... I'm sorry for both'rin' ya.."
When his words stopped...being real words, the guilt hit her harder than she'd expected considering being furious three seconds ago. People must have had to struggle to understand her like that--no wonder Kilah was always so mad at her! There was silence for a while, Noyama not being at all productive clutching the same shirt the entire time and staring at the ground.
"Am sorry," she apologized after most of the awkwardness had passed, finally hanging the shirt up. Kicking the basket to the side, she turned her attention to only him, frowning. "Go away for long time! Not okay! Understand like woman Kilah speak of, but not okay, Banda! Lyrus worry! Noyama worry!"
It was by sheer luck that Banda noticed her apology, having glanced up to search for Ven so that they might leave and stop bothering her, and happening to catch the movement out of the corner of his eye. He relaxed a bit, managing a faint smile once more, though her frown left him uneasy. However, her words cleared things up a bit. "Oh..."
He took a moment to rerun her words through his head, then nodded slightly in agreement, sighing. "I apologize, I hadn't meant for any of it to happen... Moo just kicked me out, and, um, I didn't want to bother anyone by asking for help, so I've been busy trying to find a job and somewhere to stay and... Wait, what woman?" He quirked a brow, confused. He liked someone?
She relaxed, sighing in relief. It was only natural to expect an arguement. It hardly seemed (to her) like something Banda would protest against, but she'd been prepared for it anyway. "Not okay, Banda. Ask for help important! Friends help friends! For helping!"
When he appeared to be confused, her eyes narrowed and searched his face for any sign he was lying. Either she wasn't good at finding such things, or he was being honest. Whichever it was, she seemed satisfied he really didn't know. "Am wrong? No person? Banda with person, yes?" Person was easier to say than woman. That just...annoyed her...
Nodding slightly, he managed a faint smile, but let his eyes wander back towards the ground. "I just... didn't want to get in the way." People had their own lives and, as well as he knew his friends would have taken him in without question, he didn't want to interrupt that. If he hadn't had such good luck with the job and the apartment, however, he would have eventually sought someone out.
Now came the confusing bit. He glanced back up, thinking. He was with someone? When had he said...Oh. Jo. Lyrus must have mentioned her to Kilah or someone, and.. Yeah, that made more sense. "Well, no. I met up with an old friend of mine, and now I'm renting the apartment behind her house. We're not together or anything. She, uh..." To spill, or not to spill? "...She came home drunk from a part one night, and came into the wrong building. Ended up at my house and I left her stay the night, just to be sure she didn't get sick or hurt herself or anything, and the next morning she left and I haven't seen her since. So, no, I'm not with anyone."
Noyama blinked once before staring at him warningly. The 'If you're lying, I'll claw your eyes out' kind of stare. It was surprising she could pull that look off, but she got by. Her expression softened and she nodded her head, believeing every word.
Turning back to the clothesline, she sighed heavily in relief. Her eyes flickered to the basket, and suddenly she found the chore annoying. So...'screw it', as Kilah would say. Turning toward the house, she motioned for Banda to follow her. There were many questions, but they could wait...
Her stared was unnerving. It was the kind of stare Banda would associated with Noharu, not her sister. He audibly sighed in relief when it faded, smiling, though it faltered somewhat when she turned away. Hoping she hadn't said anything he should have 'heard', he merely nodded in reply to the gesture, but hesitated. Should he leave Venoch? He wasn't sure where the infant had gone...But he was fairly sure the demon could take care of himself. A quick glance around, and he followed behind Noya for the house. At least she wasn't mad anymore...
Unlike the first room which lacked any, the kitchen had a nice amount of funiture. It was also the most evolved room in the house. Most of the time, Noyama stayed out of it. The stove, fridge, and the sink against the wall tended to scare her.
A table was in the center of the room, and took up the majority of it. Three chairs lined each side, and two on each end. She pointed for him to sit down and opened the cabinet over the sink. It was painfully obvious how much she hated this part of the house--but the other rooms lacked chairs, and supposedly chairs were good.
"Banda want tea?" The girl asked, making sure to look over her shoulder enough so he could read her lips when she spoke.
Banda, on the other hand, was somewhat reassured simply by the fact that the house had a kitchen at all. He wouldn't have been at all surprised if it hadn't, but it made the whole situation seem somewhat more real when even Noyama had a fridge.
With her gesture, he nodded and sunk down onto one of the chairs, gaze following her over towards the sink. At the offer he automatically shook his head, but quickly reconsidered, nodding once more and murmuring a reply. "If it's not too much trouble, thanks.." He was tempted to ask if she wanted his help, but decided against it after reflecting back to her reaction to the laundry question, and settled for waiting silently in his chair, pulling his hat off and absently wringing it in his hands.
Noyama nodded and hummed to herself and gathered the drinks. Setting the cup down infront of him, she giggled and gestured with her now free hand toward his hat. "Kilah does that." It must be a thing with hats.
Personally, she hated the things. They hurt her ears. Sitting down--for once in a chair, not on the floor--she shifted awkwardly. These things were so uncomfortable! Why others prefered them she'd never know. "So, um... Kitty at house tell about other person. Not like you? Why not like Banda?"
Banda blinked and, upon realizing what she meant, blushed faintly and set the hat on the table. "Yeah, I guess it's habit... Thank you," he added, and distracted himself with picking up the cup and taking a sip. Banda loved his hat. His hat and his jacket. Particularly his jacket, even though it had been the reason Moo had kicked him out, though he didn't know it.
Kitty at the House? Since when had the house had a.. Oh, Jaxom's kitten, right. "I honestly don't know," Banda admitted quietly. Then, shrugging slightly, he took another sip of his tea before continuing. "She said something about me spoiling her house and kicked me out. Wouldn't let me back in to get any of my stuff, either... I met up with Lyrus not long ago, and he tried to explain, but according to him she's just crazy. I'm sure there's more to it than that... Moo wouldn't just kick me out."
"Oh, yes, Moo is good person," Noyama agreed quickly. She'd only met her a few times, but had liked her. She certainly didn't seem like the type to just decide to throw someone out of her house! Noyama was never a good judge of character, though, so if she hadn't trusted Banda's opinion she'd have had a few doubts.
"Must be crazy," the teenager muttered, growling her words a little. That kitty had been annoying. Cute, but annoying. "Jaxom." The name was spoken as if she was trying it out. Kilah had something with that boy, then suddenly hated him, and if she ever said his name the Sin'aeis went crazy. Shrug. She didn't know him.
She did know Lyrus, though. "Lyrus smart boy," she continued, nodding wisely, sipping her own tea. "Lyrus know crazy or not." Leaning back and fidgeting, she shot a glance toward the doorway. Everyone had been gone so long, and it would be just her luck for them to come in at the worst times.
Nodding his agreement, Banda sat back in his chair and set his cup on the table. "She really is, if a bit absent minded. But she wasn't acting like herself, and apparently she hasn't gotten any better... Maybe Lyrus is right." Though it was highly doubtful. Moo had seemed sane enough, she just hadn't seemed like, well, Moo. She had been someone completely different.
"Lyrus is very smart," Banda admitted, smiling, but added, "When he wants to be. And I'm not altogether sure that that's a good thing. He seems much more sensible now that he's older, though. He may be coming to stay with me, since I can't go back to Moo's and he doesn't much like it there... I'm worried how Ven'll react, though."
Sighing, Banda lifted a hand to run through his hair, but froze midway when the sleeve slipped down his arm and quickly let his hand fall to recover it. Without explaining, he leaned forward to rest both arms on the table, one hand idly toying with the sleeve of the opposite arm, which had obviously recently been torn and reswen. Perhaps that was the problem. "They're too alike, and one's bound to hurt the other sooner or later."
While she found his behavior odd, she didn't find it odd enough to question about it. As far she was concerned, she was already being nosey, but she agrued back with the little voice in the back of her mind saying that she was only worried. Voices in the head. Not a good thing. Plenty of people seemed to have them, so she wasn't concerned. "Hm, yes, Sin'aeis very smart."
Kilah was smart. Too smart for comfort. They all were like that as far as she knew. "Ah, fight." Twila and Kilah did that a whole lot, and recently Kotoki and Kilah had been as well. "Kilah fight with sisters and her brother many times every day. Punch and kick and then forget and move on." Maybe that was another Sin'aeis thing. Such violent children. "Lucky smack both of them and say shut up or claw eyes out. Behave after that."
"Well, yes..." Banda could certainly understand that. Kilah didn't exactly seem the type to get along well with siblings. Lyrus certainly wasn't. "Lyrus fights with our brothers all the time. The ones around his age, anyway. But Venoch..." he trailed off, searching for the words to explain without making the young SM seem like some monster. Which, really, he was, but Banda was too nice to admit it.
"Venoch has these, eh...talons, sort of, and uses them without hesitation. And then Lyrus has his knives, and he's not much better.. And even though Lyrus knows not to stab any of his family--I think--I know for a fact that if Ven got mad, he'd hurt Lyrus, and Lyrus would retaliate and, well.." Someone would die. Hands down. Even as young as he was, Venoch had nearly killed two SMs at the HQ a few weeks back. Banda had many scars now from the demon's outbursts, and didn't want Lyrus to suffer the same....or worse.
She looked thoughtful, but did nothing other than nod. Every time her mouth opened she risked saying something stupid, and now that risk seemed to be at it's highest. Normally, she'd thoughtlessly embarass herself and not even realize it. There were a few people she was more careful around, Banda being one of them.
"Sassy got big," she said finally, smiling weakly. "Big, pretty wings now, too." Another heavy sigh, her finger tapping against the cup in a seemingly nervous way. "Clothes are ripped," she observed casually.
"That's good to hear," Banda replied, smiling, glad for the subject change. Relaxing somewhat, he reached for his glass once more, taking a small sip before continuing. "Tell her I say congrats, if you think she'll remember me. I'm sure she's lovely. I'd still like to paint her sometime..." It was rare for Banda to wait to paint an actual subject. He tended to dwell more on things such as landscapes, or skies, or strange things that no one could really say what they were. But Sassy was good.
He tensed slightly when she mentioned the rips, but soon nodded, taking a moment to drain his glass before he replied. "Yeah, I keep trying to fix them, but Ven tears them up again...Not intentionally," he quickly added, pulling his arms down off the table and out of sight. "He likes to ride on my shoulder, and rips them sometimes when he's climbing down." That was true for the back, anyway.
"When come home will tell her." Pegasus were smart, especially Sassy. She wasn't forgetful at all, and would definetly remember Banda. Noyama was dissapointed she'd been running off a lot lately. She had friends now in other places.
This time, his behavior prodded her curious side more than the first time had. "Act very odd," she slowly said, eyeing him suspiciously. It didn't seem like the way he'd act had it been as simple as one of his 'family' members clawing at him. "Something bad. Wrong. Wrong with Banda, yes. What is the wrong?"
There was a brief moment where he considered making up an excuse, or simply changing the subject. Knowing Noya, she probably wouldn't pry if he did it right. But at the same time... Well, he should tell someone, at least, right? After a beat, he lifted his arms back to the table and pulled back the sleeves, setting his hands palm upward on the table. An array of gashes in various stages of healing literally covered his forearms and, by the looks of it, up past his elbow to who knew how far. The sight was far from attractive; very few of the cuts had been dressed at all, and many looked to require stiches. Banda hadn't bothered.
"He scares me sometimes," Banda began quietly, staring sadly down at one particularly nasty cut. "I though, when I adopted him, that I could make him get better, but... He'll be growing soon, and I don't know what to do with him. It's hard enough for me to control him right now, and I'm scared that, if he gets mad, he'll.." He trailed off, sighing, and, raising his arms, clasped his hands and rested his forehead against them. "I swear he can't be that bad."
She was surprised, but not all that surprised. Then came a mixture of feelings--anger, annoyance, and quite a bit of it directed toward herself. Was she the first he'd told of this? More importantly, the only? And she wasn't near smart enough to help him!
Frowning, she thought of what she'd do in his place...and still had no idea. People said bad things about Kilah to her, but she was just a mean girl, she'd never acted out against anyone (yet) aside from Twila, who admittedly deserved the majority of what she got. Happy to get off the damn chair anyway, she stood and walked over to him, hesitantly reaching out.
Faster, she retracted her hand, looking boarderline devestated. What a horrible life poor Banda had! Noharu making him deaf again, getting thrown out, being ripped apart literally by his own family. "I...I not sure, Banda. Can't...change him or anything?" Change as in make nicer. At least enough to not fear for your life when around him.
His head remained bowed for a moment--he hadn't heard her rise to her feet, after all--but he soon lifted it, realizing anything she might be saying would go unnoticed otherwise. He blinked vaguely at the now-empty chair, then glanced sideways to her in time to see her withdraw her hand. Briefly, but only briefly, he felt a bit hurt by this, but it soon passed. He smiled wearily, managing a slight shrug. "I've tried... He wasn't bad when I first adopted him, but as he's grown he's just gotten..heartless. He likes inflicting pain and, well...he's small now, but he'll get bigger, and.. I dunno. Do you think he'll grow out of it? ...Maybe?"
"Not know," she answered honestly, sadly. Noyama? Far from a parenting expert. Without Sango and mostly Lucky, Kilah would no doubt be that bad as well. She contributed nothing to keep her family in line--they were hardly 'her' family. Sango seemed more like a mother than she did. "Perhaps."
"Why so mean?" She didn't expect him to know, but maybe... She'd always assumed Kilah was mean because of her eyes--well, the ones she use to have anyway--so maybe there was a specific thing that triggered this one to be so cruel? "Maybe fix?"
Perhaps wasn't good enough. Banda had kept up his charade through 'Perhaps'. Perhaps meant there was a chance. A chance that Ven could get better, or a chance that he could kill someone--possibly Banda himself, at this rate. But what else could he do? He had chosen to take in the demon. He couldn't just toss him back out.
"I don't know," Banda murmured, barely above a whisper. A moment passed and he sighed, clearing his throat and speaking more clearly. "He's always been cruel, from the beginning. That's why no one else would adopt him. And I felt bad, because he reminded me of me, and my brother...In that he was different from the rest," he added quirkly, to assure her that he and Isto hadn't got around slicing people's hands open when they were pebbles. "But, I mean.. I though everyone was judging by appearance, and for a while he did seem like a good kid.. He still has good moments, too. Just..not often. I don't know what to do about him.."
"Understand well," Noyama said regretfully. She meant that to the fullest extent, too. The more he talked about it, the more familiar it seemed. Which just supported the fact she couldn't help, since she had no idea what to do in the situation herself. It differed in a few areas, but--
As if on que, a blue-colored boy with chocolate brown hair and very observant eyes strolled into the kitchen. Without so much as glancing at them, he moved to the fridge and yanked it open. The low rumble it emitted made Noyama jump despite hearing it many times before.
"Kotoki," she called unsurely, though sounded more dissaproving than anything. "Guests here." Finally, his eyes focused on her, then on Banda, lingering much longer on the latter.
"Hello," he said flatly, his eyes the same as his voice. "Is that your monkey snooping around here...Banda, right? I've heard of you from Akilah and Lucky. Fortunately, it's all been good, and I'm inclined to believe them. It's always the good ones who have the demonic children." He glared momentarily at Noyama.
Though she had no advice to offer, hearing that someone understood at the very least was enough to cheer Banda somewhat. She was the first he had trusted with the knowledge, afraid that most would take Ven away or worse. He really wan't -that- bad. He just didn't seem to realize he caused pain...or if he did, he didn't care. And seemed to enjoy it.
Brushing away his thoughts, Banda glanced over to the new arrival, quirking a brow in surprise with his words, but soon nodding slightly and gracing the boy with a smile. "Thank you.. I think. And yes, that's Venoch. He hasn't, er... gotten into any trouble, I hope?"
Oh please, please, please don't let Ven have hurt anyone.
"If the answer you want to hear is no you're in luck," he muffled. Noyama quickly got him tea as well, and he sat down where she had been across from Banda, keeping in mind not to hold the mug up too high so the other could hear what he's saying. "However, I'd advise you keep track of him while he's here. Lucky would probably murder him if he wrecked her room." Lucky was cool, too, and he didn't want her upset. Now, Kilah or Twila's room getting wrecked would be hilarious. "In fact, it's perhaps best to go get him now and come back without him if you're so keen on the idea of visiting Noyama here."
"Kotoki!" Noya hissed from across the room. Honestly, that boy was so rude! And he was so...polite about it!
Breathing a sigh of relief, Banda reached for his own cup while keeping his eyes on Kotoki. However, he flushed bright red with the boy's following words and left the cup where it sat, straightening up somewhat. "No, no, he's right. I, ah, shouldn't have risked bringing Ven here. I'm very sorry."
Keeping his eyes averted, he climbed to his feet and let his sleeves fall to hide his arms once more. After a moment of silence, he looked up and forced a smile, nodding politely to Noya. "Maybe som--...Well, it was good seeing you again. Um, thanks for the tea," he added, and after another quick nod hurried for the door, intent on finding Venoch before the demonic SM could cause any damage. From there, back to the apartment...

I saw Mignon the other day for the first time since I grew. She was all happy for me and such. I expected it--this was Mignon, after all. But it was good to see her and it made my day good. We met up at Aylee's mansion and then came back to Moo's where I was gonna take her skydiving like me and Kilah did a bit back, but Umeri's a dumbass and wouldn't come out of the sky and Chidez was taking a nap, and by the time we got them both down, Mignon had to go home. So maybe next time. I also met this guy named Maelon. Kilah doesn't like him but I think he's pretty cool. He's not a complete wuss like Aard and Yukito (even if Yuki's really nice). He did have a butterfly earring and he named a spider 'Kitten'. But yeah he's cool. He skateboards. And likes snakes and spiders and stuff. I think I'm gonna learn to skateboard. I'll have to ask Banda about it. Cept I don't really want to cause I know he'll say no. Stupid Banda. --Lyrus

Banda took me shopping and I got all sorts of cool crud! We had actually gone to get me a costume, 'cause something called Halloween is soon and Banda says you're supposed to dress up. But we didn't find anything I liked.
So I'm going to make my own. With Banda's help. I haven't decided what to go as yet. It was a good excuse to buy anything I liked--I -might- be able to use it with whatever costume I decide on. Yes? Yes.
Anyway, we bought lots of stuff. Lots of -sharp- stuff. This set of elemental daggers and some swords that Banda says I'm not allowed to touch until I'm older unless we dull the blade of one for my Halloween costume.
Hah, right.
And I got a scythe. It's called, like, 'Death's Scythe' or something. It's about as tall as me and all silver and red with this blade that's longer than my arm. So ******** awesome.
I also got these 'Mini World' things... I'm really not all that sure what they are, but they're really cool looking. They're small spheres that sort of hover in their own mini-solar system together, with a small sun and everything (though it's not nearly as hot as one). And they rotate and crud and it's awesome.
Each one has this weird illusion of a plant representing the planet on it, andmost of them have moons. A couple have these scarf looking things instead, though. Still, they're great.
And then I got some new glass trinkets.. Just this and that, nothing really worth noting. Couple of jars with everlasting flowers in them. Don't tell Kilah.
And then Banda said we should get a present for Isto's baby, so we did. It's a little plushie thing. Just sort of a weird blob. I'd have given her a knife, but yeah.
Also, I finally got to meet that Venoch guy Banda mentioned he lives with. He's not what I expected. He's just another SkullMonkey, like Banda, but still a baby. And DEMONIC looking. One of the coolest things I've ever seen.
He's a little a*****e, though. But brave, which makes things a bit better. Like, he doesn't wuss out and hide under a chair or anything if you threaten him.
Which I did.
After he threatened me.
And then we both sort of laughed and now we get along alright. Banda looked relieved.
And because that went so well, Banda decided I can come stay with him, AND asked Moo. Moo couldn't remember who I was and didn't much care when he reminded her, so we took that for a yes.
So right now I'm in my room, taking a break from packing my stuff. I don't relaly have all that much, but I do have a lot of glass, and that can't, like, pile up in a closet or box or anything.
I hope Banda has room for it. He said it'll fit, but yeah. We're borrowing Lenta's van to get it all to the apartment (and Banda's stuff, 'cause he left without it before), but my bookcase/shelf thing won't fit in there. Guess we'll find a way, though.
I'm so glad to be getting out of here. I feel kinda bad leaving Adroi to deal with Jax and Coen, but he'll be alright, I guess.
Venoch'd better not eat any of my pets.
