Aideki stood somewhere deep within the woods, completely surrounded by cherry blossom trees as their pinkish white petals floated around her. Her eyes were closed as she held her dagger out, as if concentrating.
"C'mon, now, come out..." she was saying, her eyes twitching behind her lids as if searching through her mind, "Just give me something to train with... I'm bored."
Oh, I'mmm noot hhere to entertaaain you... hissed a cold, tedious voice somewhere in the darkest recesses of her mind and soul.
Aideki's eyes opened and she lowered her dagger, "And so is said. How about some mental training? Or am I too awake for that?"
A bitter cold silence followed, vacant and empty and the corners of Aideki's lips twitched upward, "You've grown weak, my dear Jhetsukai..."

A smiling, gentle-faced Shinta appeared at the edge of the woods. That changed when he sensed a dark, powerful presence nearby. Let us hope that it is not here because of Cole-san's absence... He thought worriedly.

Carefully, he unwound Cheebs' tail from around his arm and eased the sleeping keros into his arms, then laid him on a patch of grass.

Shinta cast a last look at the little creature entrusted to his care, then straightened and walked towards the presence, one hand on the hilt of his sword. The swordsman's eyes narrowed and his face became grim when he sensed another presence very close to the evil one--the troubled woman who had refused Hikari's kindness and walked out of the kitchen.

The pink sakura blossoms fell around him, enriching the air with their scent. "Blood and cherry blossoms...it will not happen again..."

The swordsman then stopped and stared in surprise when he saw only Aideki. She is possessed...Why did this one not sense it sooner?Clenching his jaw in anger, Shinta coughed loudly for attention.

((oi, I've been away from the computer too long... stare stupid school))

At the sound of the cough, Aideki's pointy ears perked upward slightly and she turned her face towards the man. The devious grin vanished from her face, as small as it was, and she took a moment to study the newcommer. Indeed she had seen him before, but never had made acquaintance.
The short locks of her black hair shrouded her crimson eyes as her thin lips parted slightly.
Hmm, maybee you cannn trrrain with hhhim...nno? came the inner voice, but lacking all suggestion. Aideki's jaw muscle worked hard as she grew angry at 'it'. The voice never tired of trying to gain control of her body and indeed before had, making Aideki do terrible things. Her hands were stained too much with innocent blood and she wished to stain them no more.
She continued to gaze at the man, a stale stare void of much warmth, without speaking or moving.

((Glad you're back!))

Shinta frowned and raised an eyebrow as he saw her lips move against her will and her jaw tighten. "She is aware of her predictament it appears, and is fighting against it..." He thought.

He took one step warily toward her, his right hand resting on the hilt of his sword, an alert gleam in his eyes. "Greetings." he said, "this lowly one is called Shinta in this place."

Sensing that the young woman was in control he added, "Forgive this lowly one's rudeness, for this one senses that you are a trustful and worthy person. It is only that which lies within you that this one does not trust."

Aideki's ears moved slightly as she listened to his words.
He speaks humbly of himself... She thought, perhaps a little too humbly...
"Then you do not trust me..." she said in response to his words. Her voice was low, and her eyes drifted from his as she put her dagger away and silently stole away into the woods.
Do you so easily turn your baaack? Came the voice, cold, hissing and full of mocking laughter as it echoed in her mind, Your stubborness and self strength is impressive, but it will ssuuureelly bee your eend...
Laughter followed its words and she stopped behind a tree, "I fear not death nor you... I'd welcome my end..." she whispered angrily...

((No problem. wink ))

Shinta followed her until he walking beside. "Actually this one does. This one has the ability to sense a person's spirit. There is much good about the spirit of the person with which I am now speaking."

Walking faster he came around her and faced her. "Why do you wish that to end?"

She stared at him for a moment, her eyebrows furrowing inward slightly. She would have been curious of the same thing once upon a time...but times change and her over active curiosity had deminished to gaunt senses, which lacked joy and all else.
"Why do you insist on calling yourself so lowly.." she blurted out, not answering his question as she walked around him and continued past through the forest.
((gaia is not agreeing with my computer whee ))

Shinta studied her, sensing guilt. He decided to answer bluntly, one of the rare times he had ever done so. "Because I have the blood of many on my hands. Because for my crimes I consider myself lower than ordinary people."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 18, 2004 2:47 pm

"One would find such crimes death worthy, no?" she said, speaking more of herself as she turned around and peered at him. She held up her hand, "In a world such as this, all hands are stained with blood. Some might find calling ones self lowly was due to the fact that confidence lacked a place in them. But that is purely my own opinion. To me, no one is low; no one is high."
She turned back to her trail and started once agian briskly striding past the many trees.

Shinta again came around and faced her. "I ask you again. Why do you wish to end your life?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 18, 2004 2:56 pm

She looked up at him, "What made you come to such an assumption? If I wished to end my life I'd already have done it..." she paused a moment, her gaze not faulting the slightlest, then continued again, "I just don't care much for my life, wouldn't care to die. But I'd think such thoughts were a common thing in this world."
Again, she passed him, and continued towards the pagoda.
Oh, surely you'll be the end of yourself... What a fine day that will beee!
Aideki's fists clenched together as her pace quickened, "It will be a fine day when I damn the both of us to the bits of hell..." she mummbled to the laughing viuce, which made it laugh all the more.
((brb... some one's gotta use the phone real quick))

((I actually have to get going. Be back on tonight.))

He caught up with her again, walking beside her towards the pagoda.
"Forgive me for misspeaking, but why did you say you would welcome it? You are young, and there is a part of you that does not belong in Hell."

Shinta paused, closing his eyes and feeling Natsuko's presence. "I will accept death when it comes, but for now this lowly one has a purpose here in this world."

((aww... yeah I g2g soon too any way. I'll try to get back on tonight if i can))
Aideki kept walking through the woods, minding not the presence of he who called himself Shinta. She said nothing for awhile after his last words. Perhaps she was thinking, perhaps she just didn't feel like talking, or perhaps she was quarreling with that which lived within her. Whichever, her crimson eyes appeared distant, as if she were gazing out across a horizon of the past, that certainly didn't exist in the present.
"A purpose,..I suppose, gives reason for life, which in turn, gives reason for not wanting to die." her voice came slowly, a little distant, but with thought, "And is that why so many wander? Searching for something that they know not exists... Surely, failing to find such a thing will leave them without a purpose, which leads them to not caring of death, the presence or lack of it...." a long pause came, and the Pagoda came into view, peaking through the many branches of the cherry blossom trees.
"I hold no purpose..." she finally said, her voice hardly audible.

"What will you leave behind in this world?" He asked gently. "What do you want to leave behind?"
