"Yeah, I've got no problems going first." Sai said beginning to feel nervous.
Sai led the way through the village while Stratus floated along overhead. They found it near the west edge of town. The building there were much farther apart and Stratus swooped down to land next to Sai. The Sages School was a large brick building with ornate lanterns hanging from sconces on the walls. There was a dark wooden plaque near the arched doorway with a crossed arrow and needle engraved on it.
Sai said to Stratus.
Sai walked through the archway, while Stratus climbed over the wall, and into a large open courtyard. The ground was cobbled and there were patches of vegetable in the corners. The main building was off to one side and as Sai and Stratus entered the courtyard a middle aged man with a neatly trimmed brown beard came into the courtyard from an archway leading from the building. He wore plain brown and tan robes and carried a twisted wooden staff.
((If someone would like to control the Sage feel free. That way none of us can make it too easy or hard on ourselves. I expect fairness and a sense of reality from everyone when it comes to combat.))

Getting impatient of waiting, Minatsuki walked over to the village, entering it from the side. The village itself did not large, but it had an impressive center stone. Minatsuki decided she would wait for the rest of them there, where she would be quite easy to be spotted. She walked up to it, looking for the key building of the village. Minatsuki ran through the engravings with her finger, being easily amused.

Faia sighed as she slipped off Sky's back. She watched Attica and Sakura.
"Come on!"
Her voice was impatient. She realized that Minatsuki was gone but didn't leave herself. She waited for the others to catch up.

Attica ran towards the group so as to catch up and not be left behind...it is not wise to be alone in dangerous territory whatever lurkes behind the shadows.She looked at Faia and smiled as to thank her for waiting and moved on

As Kin walked in behind Sai, he noticed the man with the beard. "That man must be the sage here." Kin said to Sai quietly.
Kin said to Vix.
Vix said coldly.
Kin replied.
Kin walked over to the man then to the side and sat down. "What would two young men need traveling out to a place like this? I don't recognize either of you from this village. So would you be Combatants?" Asked the bearded man to both of them. Kin eye'd him and said nothing then looked over at Sai.

"Yes, I am a Combatant, and we," He said gesturing to Stratus, who sat on his haunches with his wings folded neatly against him. "are here to challenge you."
Stratus said.
Sai said.

"Oh, I see. I am the sage here at this village and I welcome you. You can call me John." John said with a great big smile and a wave. "Who is your friend here?" John asked as he pointed to Kin.
Kin asked.
Vix replied.
Kin said angrily to Vix.
"I'm Kin, a combatant as well. And I wish to also have a battle with you afterwards." Kin said with a serious face, forgetting he should have smiled a little.
"Oh, I see, I'm looking forward to it. So, would this be your first mark battle then?" John asked Sai happily.

"Yes it would. I'm anxious to prove what I am capable of and earn my first mark. What style of combat would you like to make this?" Sai asked.
Sai asked.
Stratus responded.
"I would like to request Limited Combat." Sai said.

"I accept your request." He said with grin. "Now I will show you one of my bound creatures." John said as he summoned out his companion. It seemed to be a giant porcupine type creature with many quills that looked to be sharp enough to cut someone in half. "Meet Quin." John said happily and touched his beard a few times.
"I'm ready whenever you are, Sai." John said with his usual smile.
Kin said.
Vix replied.
Since he has sharp pointy quills protecting him from every direction, his only weakness is from underground. Which makes this an extreamly easy win for me and Vix. Kin thought to himself as he observed the sage and his bound creature. Kin kept his eyes set on the bound creature with his quick cat-like eyes, looking for more weak points.

Sai said back.
"Uh, Sage John, How many spell are we each permitted?" Sai asked.

John, the sage raised his hand with all of his fingers up. "Five." He said and put his hand back down and began touching his beard once again.
Kin said now realising this.
Vix replied.

"Five it is." Sai said and swallowed feeling nervous once again.
Sai asked.
Sai gestured toward the center of the courtyard. "Stratus, let's get this started."
Stratus spread his wings and flapped lazily with just enough force to allow him to glide to the courtyard proper. He rose up on his hind legs and raised his taloned forelegs in front of him. His tail lashed out behind him and he spread his wings wide and high above him.
"We're ready anytime." Sai said feeling Stratus' determination come washing over him through their bond.

"Alright then." John said.
John said to Quin.
Quin replied.
Quin then walked forward and stuck out his quills as far as he could. After 10 to 15 feet in front of Stratus, Quin stopped and pushed his head down as far as he could, trying to show how dangerous of a defense he has.
John told Quin.

Sai said.
Stratus responded.
Sai held his left hand towards Stratus and was holding his spell book in his right. It was flipped open and he was reading from it. He reached out with his senses and grasped at the magical energies he felt within himself. He collected them together and prepared to focus them through his words at Stratus.
"Calx Pluma!" He said and felt his magic take shape and merge into Stratus.
There was a brief flash of a red-orange aura around Stratus and his feathers began to turn gray and harden. A moment later all of his feather had turned to stone. He dropped to all fours and raised his wings.
Stratus thought to Sai.
Stratus suddenly launched himself forward, his wings still raised and his new stone feathers providing an armored barrier between him and his opponents quills. Within moments he was upon the porcupine-esque creature and slashed viciously at it with his talons, making sure that the lay of his feathers was opposite the lay of its quills so that they would not penetrate his armor.

John gasped. John remarked at the spell he cast.
As Status came, "postulo." John said and then Quin shot three quills out at Stratus. In midair John said, "ferrum." And the quills then turned into iron which has greater hardness than of stone.
John said.
Kin said as he watched.
