Ganren helped Tayna up the tree, then suggested "Perhaps we can make a net out of these vines, no telling if they would hold the creature though. Or we could make nooses and try to tangle its feet..."

Tanya wasted no time in scrambling up the tree. She and Whisper began hacking at the vines with their hatchets and letting them fall to the ground. They tried to make them as long as they could manage, without falling out of the trees trying to reach something that was too far away.
"Good idea," Catherine agreed. She picked up the first vine that Whisper threw down and got ready to get the one that was currently falling. "I can take care of that." She waited for a few more vines before taking them over to a slightly larger part of the small clearing and laying them out into a grid. She went to work tying knots in the places where they crossed, careful to leave enough pace that they could be handled easily.
Even Damion helped, brining Catherine more vines, so she wouldn't have to run back and forth.
The vines themselves were of varying widths, sometimes only half an inch thick, and occasionally wider than the wrists of the largest of the group. They were actually quite strong, and with the hatchet, the larger ones took several blows to break them completely.
Catherine tried to keep the widths used in her net close to one and a half inches thick. She made a few nooses and left a few choice vines to be used as 'trip wires'--or just plain rope--just in case. Damion helped her pull knots tight when asked to, and continued to supply her with vines.
Under the gravity of the situation, Catherine was actually quite pleased that she could be of help in this way and glad that Damion was working to help them all stay alive. But she worried about him, because he hadn't spoken since their last mission.

"I haven't climbed a tree in ages. Haha!" with that Sekenre climbed the tree and began cutting off smaller branches trying to make as little sound as possible. These branches he tossed to Krillo.
Krillo collected the branches that Sekenre cut and began using his hatchet to sharpen the edges close to the area that Catherine was making the net. Feeling the need to answer the unanswered question that he was sure Tanya had forming in her mind he said "If this thing is as large as Whisper says, we may want a weapon with a little more reach." with that he continued his work

"That's a wonderful idea," Catherine said. She was quite relieved that everyone was working together. She had been a little worried beforehand, since there were so many here who were not of Japi. But it was turning out well.

Ganren seeing everyone putting forth an effort decided to look around at the terrain nearby. "I'm going to look and see if there is any favorable terrain for us to utilze, Whisper would it be alright if you came with me to make sure I don't do anything I shouldn't when it comes to scouting."
((Can you describe the terrain for me a is there anything other that brush, trees, or medow around where the characters are also what terrain is the creature around))

Whisper slid down a vine that had only been partially cut and walked to Ganren. She nodded in agreement and motioned that he follow her.
She took him past a slightly thicker bit of shrubbery. It had a few thorns, so it scraped the two of them. Whisper hardly noticed, her skin already so tough from the forest terrain she was used to.
On the other side, there were slightly thinner bushes, and she grabbed Ganren's arm and pulled him down behind them. She crouched and pointed a large cave mouth. There was an open patch about twenty feet in distance between them and the entrance. The shape of the clearing made a sort of half-oval. Their position was about the center of the base. There wouldn't be that much to use for cover during the fight.
"It looks like it's gone back inside," she said. Her limbs were tensed up as though she was ready to bolt any moment.

Ganren whispered "Perhaps this could be the advantage we need..." his voice trailed off as he began thinking of idea. "We might be able to trap it as it comes out of the cave some how. We need to study its habits a little more." He slowly crept back and beckoned Whisper to follow. He started sneaking back to the camp.

Whisper took one last look into the clearing before following Ganren, but she stopped suddenly and gasped. She lurched forward after him and grabbed his arm, pointing back into the clearing.
"It has young," she whispered.
At one side of the mouth of the cave was a small pink fluff, exactly as they had seen it before in the room. Could this one be our actual target? Whisper thought to herself.

Ganren nodded at Whisper and took a good look at what she was pointing at and decided to stay and look a little while longer. "This looks a lot more like our target... how many are there?" He motioned to Whisper to get down and view the entrance from a prone position. He whispered to his companion "Lets see if we can find out anything else...".

Whisper nodded and laid down on her stomach. She waited and watched the entrance. The little creature toddled around for a bit, then went back inside. She waited patiently for it or another to emerge, but they were there for quite some time before Tanya crept up behind them.
"We're nearly ready," she said.

Ganren nodded and slowly pushed himself up and back away from the view point and headed back to the group to check on their progress. When he got back he addressed everyone, "We are back from scouting, and have an interesting piece of information to share with you. The big creature might not actually be our target. We found out that there is a second smaller creature living in a cave with the larger creature. The smaller creature seems to be what I remember from the image given to us for the mission. Now that we know where they live we can come up with a more specific plan. First what do we have available to us, what have you made?"

Catherine looked up a moment from her work. "I'm nearly finished with the net," she said as she tightened another knot. It was a crude thing, but it would serve the purpose. There were also five noose ropes as well. Damion held them up to indicate that they were complete.
((OOC: I'll let Sekenre say how much stuff he made.))
Tanya looked over everything, then turned to Whisper. "Take me to see," she said. Whisper obeyed.

"The old Tree and I have been workin on spears. How many do we have Krillo."
"Well my not so much younger Sorcerer, we've got a baker's dozen. They're pretty sharp I might add. I've also been contemplating a trap of my own....but will it work in this lifeless landscape..." Krillo's voice trails off as he begins to contemplate if his root spell would work or not.
((Japi I'll pm you how i'm thinking of using it later today if possible.))

Ganren looked over the equipment before him and squatted down. "So we got a net and a set of spears. If the beast is caught in the net it should be easy to attack from all sides to spear it. The question is how should we do that if we decide to. All we know so far is that there is a large beast and a small one who is most likely our target. We do know that the large beast comes out occasionally, for what we have not determined yet. The smaller beast seems to stay in the cave. We might have to observe one more day to confirm this. We don't want to be caught in the cave without an escape route. Only if we can lure out the small one, when the larger one is away... What do you all think?"

Castle stayed with the group as the other went off to obseve the creature. He basically did what he was told from the others, finding it mandatory to be as useful as possible. When the others came back, he was kinda shocked to hear about the smaller one and the fact it could be their actual target. "Wait hold up." Castle interupted. "If this is true, how can we be sure that their isn't a 'mother' or 'father' inside the cave looking after the younger one? How shallow is the the cave? Is it deep enough to hide a few of these behemoths or just small enough to shelter just one and a kid?" He still couldn't beleive the idea that they wouldn't have to engage that giant one, matter of fact he felt the smaller one could just be bait for them. "Even if theirs only one, you said so yourself we couldn't assume how stupid it is. I'm sure it has it's own way of protecting his kid from preditors." Assuming their were any other life besides those creature and the group.
