Before Ryland could carry himself off too far, however, Algernon swept his hand out toward the retreating prince. From seemingly thin air, what looked to be a silvery breeze flew up to the red-head, giving what would feel like a hand tugging on his chin to once more face the group. "Am I sensing some sort of jealousy from you?" he asked, pausing for a moment before adding- "... Prince Ryland."

"I'm ashamed I hadn't realized it sooner," he said. "If that brilliant red hair of yours wasn't almost a clean giveaway, then it was definitely your sour attitude towards our Aurora here that revealed you. Who else would possess such a hateful attitude toward this poor, cursed prince aside from another cursed prince himself." He grinned widely as if he shared some sort of secret with the other. "Yes, I know all about your little curse. All this 'finding true love' nonsense. As a matter of fact, I learned directly from the very witch whom cast it upon you, bless her wretched soul. She often bragged about how you were one of her more pathetic pieces of work.. Though, I must admit, your predicament is quite amusing nonetheless."

"As for my status of being a 'suitor', I can assure you I am nothing of the sort," Algernon explained. "In fact, now that Aurora is out of that forsaken tower, there will be no more of this suitor business. He is mine. There is no 'maybe's' or any 'attempting to have him'. He belongs to me.

Ryland was beginning to really dislike magic. If he walked out of someone's reach, they shouldn't still be able to control his actions. How annoying.

However, it was the other's words that struck a chord in him, halting his steps. While his chin was turned to face the group, and his body closely followed, he wore a nasty frown opposed to the other's grin. Ryland had considered protesting claims on his jealousy or hateful attitude... but his mind seemed to go blank when the elf continued about his own curse-- about that malicious creature who claimed she was a "witch." The familiar manner he referred to knowing the pathetic excuse of a siren clearly defined Algernon as a malevolent soul.

Ryland really didn't like Aurora, but... he didn't want the sleeping nuisance to die or anything awful. The merman couldn't really stand having that on his conscience.

Walking forward several steps until the elf was in range, the sea prince heaved a breath, "Actually, I bet he'd have a different opinion of that. So you can't be taking him anywhere just yet." When his trident reappeared in his still bloody hand, Ryland pointed it at the other. In an instant, a strong jet of cold water spurted from its tip, intended to douse the young man.

"You have no business here if you're consorting with Erumina* on the weekends."

Though Indi had shrank to the size of a child he felt as if he were ten times that size when Algernon started acting as if Prince Aurora were a piece of property that he had purchased. "rora isn't yours. He isn't anyones. He is his own person and he deserves to be treated with the respect that he deserves." he said as he stood up straight. Though he rarely resorted to such measures, he reached to the black rope tied about his waist and pulled the knot loose. The large wings shaped bow on his back fell limp and the rop seemed to hang in a coiled mass in the air before it slinked to life, transforming itself into a small living vine, rather snakelike in appearance but also rather draconic if one looked to it.

"Algernon Estwin! An Elven traitor to his kind who studies the black arts! A forbidden practice among many races, fairies included!" rang a deep a forbodding voice from the vine creature.

"Meet my familiar. This is Artemis Dyonisis Fenias. He is the guardian of all of nature's magic and he has been my familiar for years. He is an almost indestrucble guard that few have ever bested." Indi said as he flew up to rest his small frame on top of Artemis' head. "He doesn't take kindly to those who upset me nor can I blame him for disliking the stench of befouled magick in the air. You reak of the Black Arts, elf." he said to Algernon, keeping his voice even and calm even as his anger rose and Artemis twisted himself in a circle around Rora's form.

[[Ok, reaaally now I'm quite confused. If Indi is only the size of a 10 year old, and the vine is even a python-sized snake-like vine-like familiar... how does he sit on top of the familiar's head? I don't mean to be a bother, but I'm having a hard time envisioning this at all.]]

The sea prince could be greatly mistaken, but he doubted that Indi's righteous words and petite form would have much impact on the man who laughed like he owned the universe. Taking guardianship of a sleeping royal couldn't be easier. Aurora had to wake up. This was useless defending someone who also help defend himself. Maybe Algernon ... would be less keen to take such a disagreeable boy once he was awoken anyway.

Lowering his triton slightly with the distraction of the deep and formidable tone ringing from such a well... possessed-looking vine, Ryland was taken aback. How was Indi and his familiar so well-informed of this stranger? For that matter... how had Indi known about him? Surely there must be an explanation for his wealth of knowledge... as...

"I'm sorry," Ryland began looking from one to the other, "Do you two know each other or something?" His gaze settled on the odd familiar wrapped about the sleeping prince.

Becoming purely annoyed, he erupted, "SERIOUSLY, where is that knight? Make some use of yourself, you dolt and wake him up!" Ryland turned on Nicholas and made a gesture at Aurora. "Get to it, man!"
    PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 9:59 pm

Seeing the tip of the triton pointed his way, the moment the water rushed toward him, Algernon threw his hand sideways, looking as if he were slapping the air. Accompanying the movement came an invisible force which swept the water off the the side, leaving only mist to offer a pleasant coolness toward the elf.

As the water cleared, he was greeted with the sight of Indi and his slithering familiar dubbed Artemis. How the knowledge of his indeed traitorous past had been attained by the half-fairy, he didn't know, but nonetheless, a grin stained his fair features while a most malevolent laugh escaped him. "Ah! It seems you all wish to play," he stated, sounding almost excited by the idea.

'Magic,' Nic thought ruefully, watching the scene unfold. He always hated dealing with magic. Why couldn't things remain simple, using nothing but shield and sword? At least he knew a thing or two about those. But he had little time to dwell on what he wished to be. He was so suddenly hit by the backlash of the deflected water it caused him to abruptly reawaken to the world around him.

Dripping, sparing only the slightest resentful thought of how his armor would rust, the knight acknowledged his calling. "Right!" he nodded and hurried for the sleeping prince's side.

"Not so fast!" Algernon yelled, palm shooting upward in the direction of the knight. Around Aurora, the very earth rose from its depths to surround Aurora in a type of barrier. Abductions were always so much easier if the abductee was left unawares.

"Perhaps your Artemis would like to make acquaintances with a pet of my own," the elf stated, tossing what looked to be a simple onyx marble some distance behind himself.

"A' amin gurtha huan," he called in elvish.

Almost directly after, the small orb exploded, leaving behind a large, hellish looking black hound whose eyes burned red, its long fangs dripping hungrily. It stalked up beside Algernon who placed what could pass for a loving hand atop its head. "His name is Mordule.. but you may call him Cuddles, if you wish."

((Sona, fairies can grow and shrink according to will [going by Disney!].... and Indi, there, I think, grew himself?))

Flora came zooming back. Her hair was a mess and her face was covered in charred, black smears. She looked as if she had been fighting someone in the depth of a pile of soot. While her usual expression was a charming, bubbly smile, her current one was much less... pleasing. Her lips were drawn down in a heavy scowl and she looked angry as all Hell. She had thought something felt weird as she left -- and she had gone, of all places, to that horrid place. After all, despite their many differences in opinion... they were siblings. And there were certain circumstances in which Malificent could not ignore family's call.

But it had not be she, after all, for the black fairy lay dormant, contemplating some sort of 'deep problem.' Perhaps she had been trying to figure out a way to turn Aurora into a girl so that the curse would work properly. But their current problem had revealed himself -- an elf, and an outcast at that. She watched as the barrier of earth rose, watched the Hell hound appear, watched Indi and Ryland....

And she quickly darted into the circle at the middle of the risen earth. She reached Aurora in moments and, quickly, gave the prince a small peck on the lips before she looped her arms around the disoriented prince's and lifted him out and onto normal ground.

"'Rora, there's a creepy guy here who claims that you belong to him," Flora said vehemently, her hands sparking with neon pink sparks as she set the fair prince down.

Aurora's expression, then, immediately changed from bewildered and slightly dazed, to one of deep anger, his incredibly dark amethyst eyes narrowing. His eyes ran from Indi -- who was now larger and with some sort of talking... vine... thing to the weird elf guy, who had produced a really.... scary... dog. Aurora had never had any sort of aptitude for magic -- or anything else, for that matter, that even remotely involved protecting himself. But perhaps that was because he had never been allowed to. As a 'princess,' he had to make himself into the most wonderous damsel in distress ever made. At that thought, his expression contorted into one of full fury -- these stupid people alwas fighting, always arguing over him and he wanted it all to stop! It was always like that -- each side wanting him, and neither listening to the prince.

This time, however, was a bit... better. He at least had a preference to one of the sides -- Nic, he knew, was nice, even if he was a bit bumbling and he knew Indi would try to protect him (despite Aurora's wishing that he wouldn't need protection).

But this stranger, this elf... guy. Aurora, quite instinctively, did not like him.

"Hey, you stupid elf! What the hell do you think you're doing?! Take your stupid dog and get away from me!!" the prince yelled angrily, reaching a surprising volume for one so fair. His appearance and his personality had never matched....

((The familiar is actually just large enough to support Indi's weight without growing any, it's not python sized but more like half the size of a fully grown Anaconda. It gets bigger when Indi uses the right spell but otherwise that's it.))

"Your treachery has reached far from your home Algernon. We of the realm of nature know all about your act of dabbling in the forbidden arts." Artemis spoke, his voice deep a much like the sound of creaking trees. His serpentine features twisted into what could only be described as a smirk when ALgernon summoned the hound. "Your hound is rather cute elf but I fail to see how an unnatural monstrosity can hold a candle to the forces of nature." he said a bit cockily.

Indi jumped down from Artemis' head and drifted in the air over to Flora and Aurora. "We won't let him take you Rora. I promise to keep you safe ok." he said with a smile before he turned towards Algernon again and made a rather complex series of hand motions, after which, a large crimson colored lightning bolt shot towards Algernon from Indi's palm. "Try a taste of natures magic elf boy."

[[n_n;; okay then. got it. <3]]

Ryland watched as Nicholas was splashed with the jet intended for a villian who clearly... remained dry. Not even damp. Dry. The ground rumbled to his right and Aurora shot up several feet in the air. Some pink fairy brought him down... the merprince didn't recognize who.

Ryland did, however, decide he'd been in this situation long enough. Familiars and magic alike... and his magic wasn't even doing anything! What really struck the prince was the color of the sky. Did it seem... a little darker? Darker as in later? ... as in ... sunset could be upon them in but a few hours? At the rate this fight was going, Ryland couldn't afford to stay here. He'd transform without water. He could call a tsunami wave.. but it'd hurt too many people, if not trap himself under the tower's rubble. Backing away from the familiars, he chose to make a run for it toward the Far Far Away forest. Hopefully there had to be a lake. Or something.

William raised a wet, lightly tanned hand to his forehead and slowly wiped it across, trying to rid himself of the sweat that clung there. He heaved a small sigh, his bright eyes narrowing as they stared across out to the west, where the sun was setting quite brilliantly across the horizon. The land had turned dark and the sun's final rays were golden and radiant, painting bright streaks of red and orange all around, bathing Will's features in the bright hues.

He ran a hand slowly through his slightly damp brown hair -- damp because of that day's long, exerting hike and the sweat it had caused to bead up all across the teen's skin. The day had been, to say nothing else, hot. The trees had provided nice coverage from the sun, but it had still been a hard day's climb. And now, finally, he was getting some reward for it. He swayed slightly at the pool's edge, his brightly green eyes staring down into its depths for some time before he finally lowered himself to a kneeling position. Forming a cup with his hands, he spalshed the (thankfully) cool water over his face several times before he scooped up yet another double handful and began to drink quite silently.

Nicholas was about to call after Ryland, but the prince's reawakening had his distracted. "What was this about you not needing protection?" he asked, finally drawing his sword and taking a place near Indi to shield Aurora. Even if they were in a life-or-death situation, why not at least try to have some sort of fun while at it? Afterall, it might be the last they'd ever had.

"Flora, can't you take Aurora out of here and get her somewhere safe?" he asked.

Algernon only glimpsed as Ryland took off toward the forest, storing the prince away in the back of his mind. The cursed merman could always be a fun collectible, he thought. Well, at least he didn't have to worry about getting hit with jets of water or ran through with that fork any longer.

Giving an dramatically overexaggerated sigh, the elf shook his head at the mention of his 'treachery'. "The past nevers dies, does it?" He seemed to be speaking more to the wind itself than anyone else. "So, I take it you're not a dog lover then?" A slight shrug, as he watched Indi's hand patterns. "Oh well."

"Mordule, go!" he commanded, just as the lightning bolted toward him. Having set himself back in a ready stance, so as to not get blasted off his feet, he raised his forearms(which were decked in leather gauntlets) to cross in front of himself. The bolt seemed attracted to the crossed arms and struck them dead center, causing the elf to sway slightly. A small orb embedded in the wrist of the leather now seemed to swirl with the same color crimson as the lightning had been.

Meanwhile, the hell hound had darted from his master's side toward the snake. Once within distance, it leapt, fangs aiming to enclose around the familiar's neck.

"Highness!" Algernon called to awakened Aurora. "I've come to take you to your long-awaited sweet. Be reasonable and come quietly with me. You don't want your friends here harmed all due to your inability to comply, would you?"

"Hah-hah-hah-hah--" The prince was now panting as he reached the edge of the forest, quite a distance from the tower. It was even farther away from the village of Far Far Away. If there was anything he hated in this life, it was running. Learning to walk had taken enough coordination, but adding agility to extremities he hadn't been born with was hardly worthwhile. Ryland had scrapes on his legs and elbows to prove the number of times he'd tripped and fallen even in the distance from the tower to the forest. Leaning against a tree trunk, he observed the state of the sky. Perhaps he'd been wrong before. It'd be dark within the hour. He could already see streaks of purple and red in the sky... the signs of what might be mistaken for something beautiful by someone else. Dawn and dusk weren't beautiful to Ryland. They weren't romantic. They weren't signs from the heavens. Those times were his enemies; threats to his very livelihood.

Catching his breath, he set off at a quick pace through the woods, his trident vanished to safekeeping. He walked until he heard it...

    Rushing water.

Drawn like a moth to a flame, the sea creature fled to the source of the noise. Ryland came upon a small lake with a waterfall feeding it and removed his shoes and shirt. Thank Poseidon. He dove in immediately, pants and all. He found it was best to transform underwater. He surfaced a minute later and threw his jeans on shore. He didn't take notice of any other creatures... or people present at the watering hole of sorts. Diving below surface again, he let the oxygenated water seep through transformed gills on either side of his neck and a deep crimson tail gave him swift push down to the bottom of the lake.

Unfortunately for Algernon (and just about everyone else), despite Aurora's perfect appearance, his personality was anything but princessly. To put it bluntly, his was an immature, naive, and rather selfish. He glanced at Nic for a moment, not completely able to ignore the knight's remark, before his dark eyes returned to fix on the traitor elf.

"Hah! Yeah, right! I'm not going to... to go and be your stupid... wife or whatever it is that everyone wants me to be! Get it through your thick skull that I am not a princess and am most certainly not about to come quietly!" he replied, a hot flush rising in his cheeks. He brushed his pale bangs back angrilly and took a deep breath, looking as if he were about to yell at Algernon once again, but was stopped as a pair of pale, skinny arms closed around his waist.

Aurora looked the image of a surprised cat, his hair almost seeming to stand on end before he realised that it was only Flora and began to settle down. The pink fairy winked and rose into the air. She made a kicking motion with one foot and a jet of highly condensed, razer sharp rose petals sped towards Algernon. And, like everything with Flora, they were an almost blindingly bright hot pink. If Algernon was not pierced by the petals themselves, then his eyes, at least, wouldn't be spared from the painfully vivid color.

Will looked up as he heard something -- someone -- come rushing through to forest. And before he had time to do anything but gawk, the redheaded teen had dived into the pool from the far side. The brunette blinked slowly, running a hand uncertainly through his dripping locks. He thought... thought he'd seen a flash of sparkling red as the teen swam down into the depths. What... could that possibly be?

And it had already been over a minute since the other had dove in. He... he couldn't be drowning, could he?! Maybe he was committing suicide! William, after his close encounter with Death, had a strong disliking for anyone or anything that would cause someone to throw their life away. And so, with hardly a moment's pause, he dove in after the other, searching for what he thought would be a boy in desperate need of help.
    PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2007 5:31 pm

A vertical sweep of Algernon's arm, and an invisible barrier was between him and the flying leaves.. But not fast enough. Several of the neon razors passed right through shield. One, then two managed to slice the elf's face before he put up a protective arm to prevent further damage to his features. The remaining leaves that got through had no problem tearing through his robes to leave a few stinging cuts on his skin.

The second the attack stopped, Algernon's eyes shot up, blazing in anger. It could have been from the marring cuts left upon him, deep crimson blood dripping down his cheek. It could have been from the resistance shown not only by Aurora herself, but her companions as well.. Probably a solid mixture of the two.

Gritting his teeth, growing impatient with their lack of competence, the dark-haired wizard punched hone of his gauntled fists toward the air-borne fairy holding the prince. Upon doing so, the continually red orb flashed before releasing the absorbed bolt of lightning that had been earlier aimed at himself in the direction of the two.

One look at Algernon's expression after being attacked was enough for the hot-headed prince's anger to die down a bit, its place to be taken, for the most part, by a lurking fear. "Oh, sh*t," he said, eyes wide as he saw the elf aim at Flora and himself. The pink fairy wasted no time -- she wasn't one of Aurora's main protectors for nothing (despite her incredibly immature appearance) -- she raised her own hand, from which a huge, metal rod materialized she threw it quickly away from herself and the prince and darted away quickly in the opposite direction. Hopefully the lightning rod would work, though it wasn't always so with magical bults....
