and i didn't think you could use the glitch after the snake!! good news for me!

You can use the Matilda Glitch after fighting the Two Headed Snake, yes, but I think you have to do it before Muse gets overthrown, or at least before you lose Jowy (because not having Jowy's Black Sword while fighting is an ultimate pain in the behind, and also because they give you random characters while escaping from Muse. So you may end up with say....Zamza, who really isn't that helpful in the first place).

It's such a pity you have to lose Jowy, because his rune is pretty powerful and can deal hell a lot of damage. All it needs is about 5 to 10 field battles, be it at Rakutei or around Highway Village (although I'd recommend fighting around Highway at first so you can gather enough potch to buy the best equipment available) and you should be able to fight the boss at Rakutei using at most...10 minutes? Around there, less if your level is higher.

I think it is if my memory serves me correctly. Did anyone else have a hard time beating Luca? He was a pain in the royal tushy for me. domokun

Thunder God Garb is available at Matilda even via the Matilda glitch, meaning that it can be bought before or during the time in which you are supposed to visit Matilda. And yes, you can get it after killing the twin-headed snake, but I find it much more convenient to finish off the Rakutei quest before going to fight the Twin Headed Snake. The level boost together with Futch and Humphrey helps you kill the snake in around....two rounds max. Nifty. biggrin

In which one? The duel or the three-party fight? (IMO) it was rather easy, but that may be due to the fact that I trained up my characters to level 38-40 with (almost) all the guy characters having the Fire Emblem.

I actually found that scene kind of sad... wink

I had a ton of trouble with the Luka fight (with 3 members) He just tore through my teams >< He's the hardest game boss I've had, apart from the extra bosses in FF7. *shudders* I managed it fine the second time round though XP

I didn't have that much trouble, but then I'd already been playing the game forever trying to get lots of money. That was before I found out about the Matilda glitch though. My sis had a tough time of it when she played.

Oh, I hated fighting Luca. Espically since he can attack more then once in a turn. I don't think that's fair. Then only way you can attack twice is with the double-beat rune, which are super hard to get from stupid little blade bunnies, but even then you can't alternate what you can do.

That three part battle of Luca was probably the best boss fight in all the RPG's I've played. It was such an awesome battle, the difficulty, the music, just awesome.

I haven't played Suikoden II in a long time, but it helps to have Luc in the battle, acting as healer, then the rest should be all physical attackers. Make sure everyone in the front row is well armoured, and the middle character in the back. If memory serves me right, Luca has one attack that strike both characters in the middle column. They should have more boss battles like that in future Suikoden's.

There is a specific place that you should put your healer/mage- the left-most spot in the back row. Luca NEVER hits that person unless the person in front of him/her has died and the healer has to move in front.

I always use Luc in my party against Luca, but more for offensive rather than healing. If you level him up enough, Luc should be able to get Level 4 spells due to his high magic stats, and that alone can cause a devastating amount of damage. Even without Level 4 spells, Luc can still take off a huge chunk of HP off Luca by using The Shredding and other powerful spells. Just make sure that he stays at the specific spot, that's all. biggrin

And yes, Luca has one attack that can strike both characters in the middle column. I believe that he can also do this to the right-most column, but definitely not to the left-most column. As always, to avoid humongous damage from his fire sword, equipping a fire emblem is the way to go. domokun

Cry? when?
i got teary eyed when you beat Seed and Culgan at the end ;-; that was horrible... and then, when the double-headed-wolf-form-of-the-beast-rune shows up, i get teary eyed again, but thats usually because i know i'm going to get my a** royaly handed to me on a platter.

The game's story and music seem to have the effect on almost everyone. The scene where you kill jowy, if you don't have 108 starts makes me crack some tears abit. Luca was of course a very hard battle to beat. It took me 3 trice to finally beat him the first time playing suikoden 2. I would have to say suikoden 2 is the best one out of the serious.
