“Nope. Got nothin’ to be embarrassed about,” Mal said proudly, holding his head high. Well, as high as he could, anyway; since he was on the short side, he was a little limited in that area. He shrank back a little at the mention of shopping though and glared at Iris for even suggesting the evil activity.

“No, no. I think you misunderstood Mishu, Iris; when she says ‘local amusements’, she means ‘what’s fun around here’ not ‘what makes people want to gouge out their eyeballs to prevent them from ever bein’ violated in such a way ever again’.”

Clearly, Mal didn’t enjoy shopping.

“Seems to me that Naked Time could do just that, Mal,” Rem said lightly. Hey, just because he was the mature one didn’t mean that he couldn’t get some verbal revenge on his friend every once in a while. “And shopping really isn’t that bad. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean that everyone who does enjoy it has had some sort of radical brain surgery.”

Yeah, he would admit it; there were times when Rem actually liked shopping. He was just that secure with his masculinity.

“Bring Mal when you go shopping,” he advised Iris and Mishu. “He needs help with colors.”

Mal glared at Rem again, but didn't reply. At the voice from the door, he turned around. Did someone really have to ask? The bar was packed with people who were drinking, and someone had to ask?

"Nah. 'S closed. Come in anyway."

"The whiskey's good," Mishu advised, without turning around.

She lookd at Mal and raised an eyebrow. "S'all talk, man. Seeing is believing." She grinned, wondering if she'd gone too far.

"And you do need help with colors. What the hell is that you're wearing anyway?"

She eased a bit more into her chair, relaxing. "How do you all know each other, anyway?" She asked.

Silence was relieved by the arrival of another patron and stalked away from Meshach, fuming. It was all very well to steal kisses in private places - though she would have preferred he didn't do it at all - but to do it while she was working was really beyond the pale. She just might have to kill him. The thought brought a wicked smile to her lips.

Meshach caught a glimpse of that unnerving smile and came to a quick decision. He turned back to the others, "If you'll excuse me. I think it's time for me to go."

He offered a shallow bow and did as he had threatened to do: he left. Actually, he stalked out, looking every bit as irritated as Silence, but at least not murderous. It seemed to him that his health would not benefit from his prolonged presence in the bar.

Outside, he cast a quick glance at Silence's pair of griffins in the yard. Trill lay on his side as a cat is wont to do, clearly trying very hard to be patient and wait for Silence. The only thing about him which gave away his impatience was the rapid twitching of his tail. It amazed Meshach that Silence had managed to train the large griffin to be so well-behaved, though his nature was clearly not one given to such training. Chade, predictably, lounged in the shade, perfectly still, but for his ears swiveling to catch every sound and his eyes wide to take in every sight.

Meshach shook his head and walked on. He'd find Silence again later, when she was not working. Perhaps she would be in a better mood by then.

Well, such a charming sense of humor. He walks farther inside, about to take a seat before he finally notices the black chick when she trips him. "Nut.. you're supposed to stick with Aisha, not me.."

Sighing heavily he kneels down to pick up th now squirming bundle o fur and feathers. "I appologize, chicks ar.. difficult to control.. I'll take her out to the yard."

Nut just squirms, giving an indignant chirp at having her game of 'attack-the-human's-feet' spoiled.

Mal looked down at his clothes. They were relatively plain, in various earth tones. Mostly browns and grays, actually. He felt that it wasn’t possible to go wrong with browns or grays. They always looked good.
“’S what I always wear,” he said, in tones of mock injury. “See, now you’ve hurt my feelin’s and you are now deprived of the No Pants Dance. So there.” At the last words, his glass of whiskey was slammed to the table, as if that would somehow reiterate his point.

Actually, the truth was, he simply didn’t want to get kicked out of his new favorite bar for trying to do the No Pants Dance. After all, Shane had already made it perfectly clear that Shirtless o’Clock would not be tolerated.

He waved briefly at Meshach, feeling a little sorry that the other man already had to leave. It seemed like everyone was leaving now…

“’S a funny story, actually. Remmy and I met a few years back and never expected to see each other again. And then we met here and… well, that’s that. Iris is the first person I met when I came here.” This was pretty much the truth. Mal was, once again, utilizing his sense of ‘tell the truth but not the whole truth’. It was remarkably useful.

Rem noticed this, but he didn’t feel like filling in the gaps either. For one thing, it was history. No one liked history. For another thing, he was distracted by the little black chick that was currently squirming around in the newcomer’s arms.

“Bye, Meshach,” he briefly waved to the man leaving before turning his attention to the newcomer. He smirked slightly. “That they can be… how old is she? I’ve got a little gryphon chick myself… I think he’s a little older though.”

Too bad Tali couldn’t come along… Rem had decided it was better to leave him with Laura’s care rather than bring him to a completely new place. Such a thing would probably terrify the little gryphon.

"Well is that all it took to avoid seeing the No Pants Dance? Why didn't you tell me? I would've said it sooner." She grinned.

She looked at the chick. "Oh, she's adorable! Where did you get her?"

Mishu took a moment to reflect. She was coming awfully comfortable with these people awfully fast. She wondered if that was wise. She didn't usually ask about people's pasts, so she didn't push it any further, lest the ask about her history. Then she'd have to make something up, and she wasn't good at that.

She ordered a round of drinks for everyone. "Meeting in bars, the best place. A toast to bar chums. May they never meet our husbands, wives, boyfriends, or girlfriends."

Glancing over to the questions, and comment on young griffons, he nods (and completely ignores what they were talking about with a.. No Pants dance.. did he want to know?). "She's about a month or so. I was stuck with griffon sitting after conning my younger brother to take my griffon to be groomed. He likes to try and bite my hand off if I'm the one doing it."

he shakes his head slightly, having to strengthen his grip on the wriggling bundle of feathers before a wing can pop out and slap him. "Excuse me..I really should take her outside before she ends up damaging something.." He really didn't have the money to pay for any repairs if Nut decided to play in there.

Nut sqwauks again, squirming her heart out to get him to drop her. She wanted to PLAY! There were people! ANd shiny things to go after!

Outside in the yard, AIsha found her way into a nice patch of sun, watching the other griffons. Interesting group.. a few dark colors.. a gryphon with a lovely crest of feathers, though in her opinion the little yellow crest on her head was much nicer.. She settles down to wait, idly wondering when Nut would be tossed out after following her human's sibling inside. She trills a greeting to the other griffons in the meantime, taking note that one of them seemed to be injured, or in the least not feeling well by how they were holding themself.

Iris remained silent, smiling and shaking her head when appropriate. Oh, she would take Mal shopping. And she would make him buy things that would make him look spectacular. Why? Because it was her job to make sure that everyone in her company was well taken-care of. At least in the fashionable sense.

And now, she had to ask. For all their sakes.

"Mal, just how much alcohol do you plan on ingesting before the night is over?"

Outside, in the yard, Trill looked up with interest as another griffin entered. Before, when Tiamet had demanded that her human depart, he had been intrigued. He had not been raised to make demands of human beings. He had been brought up knowing that humans were to be trusted and obeyed. Well, certain humans anyway. His Silence, for example, was to be obeyed without hesitation. Meshach required confirmation from Silence, as did any human at the Eyrie. All others he could ignore with impunity.

Chade was equally interested in the arrival of new griffins, but more in the arrival of the younger griffin with the spots than with Aisha. Nut's dark coloring and the fact that her rosette markings were only visible when the light hit them perfectly, and then were a slightly reddish color, were very interesting to him. He had some striping which was almost as indistinguishable, but it was not nearly so pleasant to look at. Well, he had always known that he was a relatively plain griffin. That was not worth concerning himself over.

Inside, Silence was relieved that the newest arrival removed his griffin from the bar without having been asked. She didn't like being parted from Trill and Chade, even though she had been caring for them for a very long time and knew that nothing untoward would happen, and she felt guilty asking another to leave their griffin similarly. But the occasion didn't arise.

"Can I get you anything to drink?" she asked the newcomer.

I'm still settling into college, so forgive the lags. I'll catch up.

With a light roll if the eyes, he watches Nut bounding outside straight for Aisha. He turns to walk over and finally take a seat. "Oh, drink? I'll just take a simple ale. The make doesn't matter."

Nut loks around once in the yard, after having thuroughly pinned AIsha's tail down victoriously. She ducks under one of the adult griffon's wings when she spies so many others out there, giving a faint squawk. After taking a minute or so to grow accustomed to the area, she seemed to be quite good at that, her attention goes to finding something to attack and play with. She looks over at a big griffon, bigger than a lot of the others out there, and clicks her beak curiously.

Aisha doesn't seem too amused with teh youngling's antics, and merely raises her wing to place it on her back properly. She calmly looks at the other griffons while discreetly keeping an eye out for any sorts of threats to the ball of black feathers beside her.

Silence had to struggle for several moments before piecing together that the newest patron had requested ale, and that he was not particular about the make. That made things easier. If she were a more entrepreneurial sort she'd serve him the most expensive, but she just went for something that looked average. She saw no sense in bankrupting the clientelle so early in the bar's existence. She fetched the desired ale and returned to her post.

Outside in the yard, Trill turned his head first one way, then the other, to regard the curious chick with both of his blue eyes. He had not quite developed Chade's odd way of holding his head which almost allowed him to see a thing with both eyes at once, and he privately thought it made Chade look quite unusual when he did it, and so would never have striven to emulate it.

Good afternoon, Trill chirped.

((assuming he sat near the rest of us...))

Mishu held out a hand in greeting. "Mishu. What's your name?"

She eyed him over. He had a tolerant but capable attitude toward his chick, which made her like him. Lots of people were horrible at caring for their chicks, but raising a chick right was the sure way to raise a good griffin.

"What brings you here?"

Hesitating but a moment, he glances over at the female, Mishu. "Sin." He frowls lightly to himself; he understood that other countries had a far different meaning to the word than his home, and took his name to have a meaning that wasn't there. Taking a small swig from his glass he sits and waits, eyeing the rest of the bar's customers calmly.

Nut looks up at the chirp, backing up just a little. Gathering her courage, she squawks back, though she did intend only to chirp and imitate him.. it didn't come out right. Hi! After a few seconds of staring at the large griffon, her eyes dart to something moving, a tail. Tempting..

Trill offered a griffin-smile at the young chick. Maybe he liked young griffins. He wasn't sure. His experience with them was limited. He was fairly certain he liked this chick. This one seemed interesting, though very tiny. He couldn't remember if he had been so tiny. He knew Chade had been very small, but Chade was still very small. Chade was barely bigger than an adolescent griffin.

I'm Trill, Trill continued. And he's Chade. He nodded toward Chade. What's your name?

Chade suppressed a smile. To him it was clear that the chick didn't mean to squawk as much as to chirp, judging by her chagrined manner, but it was not his place to remark. He merely settled himself more comfortably and flicked a fly from one of his hind paws with his tail. He, too, found Nut interesting, but he was not so out-going.

Mishu grinned, though she didn't say anything about his name. Instead she pushed a shot of whiskey over to him. "And what brings you here?" She knew she sounded forward, but that's the way she was. Plus it was good not to be the most recent visitor any more.
