Briar blinked at Kechara. Moving closer, he nuzzled against his mate. "You don't have to apologize," he told her. "I didn't mind at all." He looked down at his paw then back up to Kechara with a bit of a sheepish look on his face. "There's still a little juice left on my paw." With his eyes, he silently asked her if she wanted to finish cleaning it.

Kechara jumped slightly as he nuzzled, eyes wide at the sudden gesture of affection. "S-sorry," She whispered smiling sheepishly, "I-It's just I-I'm....still getting used to this?"
Her head came up in surprise and she stared at him as he spoke. "O-oh...." Her cheeks flamed again, "W-well I suppose I could help with that..." She took it carefully, her movements awkward. Slowly, she brought it to her mouth and licked it, quite flustered over the entire scene.

Briar chuckled lightly at her response. "That's a good thing," he said. "We're mates now, so we shouldn't feel awkward about things like cleaning each other." He smiled warmly at Kechara. If she was getting used to things like this with him, then maybe she would grow accustomed to being around other numas also. Well, it was a hope for a future day. Right now, Briar was content with keeping her to himself.

Kechara blushed once more as she heard "mate" again. It was so new...so different...but she wouldn't change it, not for the world. She looked up and tugged gently on his arm, "You should sit," She whispered, smiling weakly, "And eat too; before the fruit goes bad." Her gaze dropped again, cheeks still stained pink. She wanted Briar close to her, both physically and in so many other ways.

Briar nodded and sat, resting back against the tree. "And so should you," he said, tugging on Kechara so that she would lean against him. He couldn't think of better way to enjoy a good fruit than to have Kechara curled up at his side enjoying her own half of the fruit.

Kechara blinked in surrpise, finding her body leaning against him. "Ah..." She squeaked softly, "Y-yes..." She whispered, eyes half-lidded as she rested against him.
Carefully, making sure she kept the fruit from spilling onto her fur--if anymore did she feared she'd pass out from embarrassment--she took a bite from the split fruit, licking away the juice that lingered on her lips. "This is good," She commented before taking another bite, "What do you think...?"

Briar settled back, getting comfortable before he took a bite from his half of the fruit. The juice was far sweeter from this fruit than any he had tasted before. He thought perhaps, this was now his favorite fruit. It was much better than the gummy fruit. "This is great," he agreed.

Kechara smiled and looked away sheepishly, "I'm glad you like it." She said softly. She really was, she would have felt horrible if Briar hadn't like the fruit. She took another delicate bite, glancing back up at him through her multi-colored hair. "Oh..." She exclaimed softly, seeing that a bit of blue juice sticking to the fur on and around his mouth. She automatically leaned over, cupping his chin and licking it clean.
She leaned back, opening her eyes and blushed crimson, "Ah-! S-!" She closed her mouth, darkening in shade. She shouldn't say sorry, she could do things like that now and she shouldn't be embarrassed over it. Still, she stared wide eyed at some point on the ground, she was acting awfully forward with him. Was something wrong with her?

Briar was about to another bite of the fruit when he felt Kechara cup his chin. He blinked in surprise and stared at her as she licked the juice from his around his mouth. It shocked him to see her do something so forward, but it also made him happy. He leaned forward, and though she had no juice on her face, he licked her cheek anyway.

Kechara blinked in surprise and stared at him. Realizing she was staring, she quickly ducked her head away, hiding her blush and taking another bite of fruit.
She was silent for a while, thinking about all of the events hapening recently. Her seeing that monster....Nalikai being gone and gone more often (not that she minded, Nalikai was very forward with her) and recently a little feather had appeared in the house. Ryuune had been very proud and protective of it, saying that it was one of his children.
Kechara's long ears twitched at a sudden though, "B-Briar...?" She asked, lifting her head, "Um...d-do you know about feathers?" She asked, staring into his dark red fur, and not looking him in the eyes, "S-sorry, it's just....Ryuune's been talking about this feather in the house as his child and I was just wondering if...?" She blushed again, turning away, "S-sorry, I guess I shouldn't have asked..."

Briar nearly choked on a bite of the fruit when he heard Kechara's question. Feathers? She wanted to know if he knew about feathers. His mind spun at the memory of finding out his adopted brother had had feathers, and then met Sky Flier's daughter who had recently had feathers. It was still a shock to him.
Briar swallowed and quickly recovered from his surprise over the question. "Feathers?" he repeated. "I know about feathers." He blinked, replaying Kechara's words in his mind. "Ryuune and Mysidia finally had feathers of their own?"

Kechara stared wide-eyed at him as he almost choked, "A-are you okay?" She asked, touching his shoulder eyes filled with concern, "S-should I not have brought it up...?"
She retracted her paw instantly as he recovered, "You do..?" She asked, tilting her head to the side, "W-would you mind telling me then?" She flushed, "Unless you don't want to, of course, I completely understand--"
She blinked again and nodded once, "I...I guess so? He kept staring at it for a while in the garden, with this giddy look on his face and when he finally came inside he was saying something like "four....four of them..!"" She flushed and looked away, "I didn't know what he was talking about, but I had to go before I could ask him anything." She glanced up at him, "S-so I was wondering....what "feathers" are."

"Yeah, fine, sorry," Briar said, giving a grin to show he was all right. "The question just caught me a little off guard." He paused to ponder what exactly to tell Kechara about the feathers, how exactly to explain them. "Well, you see, when two numas fall in love and become mates, they sometimes want to have children. So the numas go to the Marshmallow Swan and pray really hard for her to grant their wish of having children. If the Marshmallow Swan decides to grant their wish, she'll deliver feathers to the parents. These feathers grow into numa pups." Briar didn't realize his cheeks had grown red as he explained where the feathers came from.

Kechara blinked once as he finished, then twice. Finally, after what seemed like hours, she opened her mouth to speak.
"Oh." She replied, eyes wide, "Oh." She stared blankly at him, mind buzzing, whirling, twisting over this new tidbit of knowledge. "S-s-so," She began, cheeks a deep crimson, "S-so, then Ryuune did--? And he got--?" She flushed darker, "S-s-so if we ever--? And then--?" She couldn't finish a sentence, her thoughts were just too jumbled.

Briar nodded. "Ryuune and Mysidia went to the Marshmallow Swan and prayed to her for feathers, and the Marshmallow Swan answered their prays," he said. "And if we ever wanted children, we would do the same." His face burned with a blush that he thought even reached to his finned ears. They had only recently become mates. He hadn't thought the topic of babies would come up so soon.
