"You're wrong about me. I had a life before I joined the military and I still do. I don't allow it to effect how I fulfill my duty." She fired off the first rounds at an emerging Flayed One.

Hallas pulled the pin from a Searing Grenade and tossed it into the mob of Flayed Ones as they surfaced "Checkmate!" the bomb exploded, showering everything with super-pressurized concentrated hydrofluoric acid. She clutched her middel again "Oww, how much longer till we get out of here?"

The Necrons just kept coming. They were unphased by the grenade. The MLHAV covering the left flank opened up with his gattling gun. The splashes of the rounds were about 3 feet tall. The second it opened up it began to take fire. Something that looked like green lightning bolts hit the mech several times. There were several small explosions from the mech before it exploded in a massive firestorm of fuel and munitions. "s**t. How long Pin Point?!" "Ma'am we have 10 minutes left!" "Men hold position! We're going to fight them every step they take. There will be only death!" One of the marines fired a rocket at the Flayed Ones. One of them took a direct hit. The four heavy bolters had been blazing the entire time. at this rate even with their cooling systems they would over heat and be worthless. "Heavy bolters, cease fire until I say otherwise." The scouts took several more out in a well coordinated volley of fire. They continued to lay fire down on the Necron forces.

After nine minutes of continuous fighting the marines were direly low on ammunition. The infantry squads were completely out and the remaining supporting mech was nearing their last 25 rounds. The Flayed ones had resurrected several times during the fire fight. A bright flash of white engulfed seven of the fallen Flayed Ones as the rose once more. One of the mechs unloaded the remaining 25 rounds in his gattling gun's drum. The burst took down four of the seven. He announced over his radio. Just like it was one queue a b right burst of green light pierced through the ground. And all of the fallen Necrons straighten themselves up and were once more ready for combat. Just as Shlag was about give up all the hope she had left two rockets streamed down from the heavens exploding within the mass of necrons. The enemy forces were scattered about the battlefield. Three transports and two gunships slowed their descent. Two of them picked up all of the mechs except for Chimera's. The third landed. The sides opened up in two spots revealing two 1.25 caliber rapid fire cannons. The second they took their targets, the auto cannons opened fire. "First squad move to the transport now get on board. Take the POWs with you. We'll attempt to cover you." The marines grabbed the prisoners, their power armor allowing them to hold them up with one hand. They ran through the exploding rain of exploding shells and made it safely to the transport they loaded up the prisoners. The remaining marines on the battlefield were in melee combat with the necrons. Their weapons were doing nothing. All they could do is guard against the enemy attacks. The sergeant popped up on Shlag's HUD and told her it was okay to pull back to the transports. The disengaged and ran at full speed toward the transports. Green flashes exploded all around them. Necron reinforcements were being teleported in in force. Gauss Flayer rounds screamed by and took down two marines. They fell to the ground dead. Their organs liquefied. Shlag and the remaining marines boarded the transport. The ramp closed behind them as they took a seat. The Imperial Guard gunners pulled their cannons back so they were vertical and closed the shutters as the transport lifted off. Chimera's grenade launcher fired with a massive explosion like sound as the shell was propelled through the cavern until it detonated. The roof collapsed as the mine caved in. A large fireball billowed from the crater. By this time Chimera had boarded his slot on the under side of the mech transport and it too was away. Shlag took a deep breath and exhaled, full of relief.
The transports quickly made their way out of Auctie air space to their attack frigate waiting in the atmosphere for them. The Fire Dragon's plasma cannon began to charge as the transports landed in the docking bay. The cannon fired at their LZ. The area exploded with the ferocity of a 10 kiloton nuclear warhead. The frigate quickly pulled out of the atmosphere, arriving in orbit several seconds later. It proceeded to rendezvous with the rest of the fleet.

Minerva appeared in the Throne Room shortly after a faint explosion was heard "Sir, I have ill report for you. The mines we have been excavating in hopes of finding Daniele's Seal, have been totalled. There is nothing left behind. Reports indicate this was due to an attack on the mine from Sal Torasia" Celsus raised his arm to silence her, stroking his goatee as his face was contorted with anger "I see. You are dismissed." After she had left, he smirked irritably "So, it is a war they want, is it? Well, let us see how they will play their cards, I am no man's fool"
Nuba had managed to carry Hallas to safety as if he was one of the Torasian forces. The faint glow surrounding them as they made their getaway was his doing, but he did not say anything. He only looked to her with emotionless eyes as they were thrown into a brig upon arrival to the ship. Hallas sat with her knees to her chest, and sighed. she turned to Shadow "So, I guess we are in quite a mixup...how long do you think they will keep us alive?"

Shlag reported to the debriefing room. After being debriefed she proceeded to her quarters and wrote up her report on the mission. After twenty minutes she was on her way to her way to see the Emperor to give him the report and brief him about the situation with the seal.

Shlag was allowed on the command deck of the Flagship. She walked up to the Emperor's throne and knelt before it. Her gaze didn't raise from the ground. "Your Excellency the God Emperor of Sal Torasia, I am here to receive my punishment for retrieval of the seal." Her voice was steady and unwavering. "So they didn't find the seal on that rebel. It's a shame to lose such a good soldier to faulty information." "Your Excellency, please limit the execution to only me. Those under my command weren't at fault for not securing the seal before we evacuated. It was my call." "Do you regret it?" "No Your Excellency." "Why not?" "Because the battle was glorious even if we failed to accomplish the objective." "Yes. I know. I watched the battle on your HUD camera even with a glorious battle like that, your failure still clouds it. The execution will take place in one week and will not be public. You are to be removed from active duty as of now. Be sure to tell your family and friends as well as turn over your armor and weapons." "Yes your excellency." "Stand citizen of the Empire of Sal Torasia, you are dismissed." "Thank you for your generosity your excellency." Shlag bowed and rose. She saluted and performed an 'about face' and left the command deck.

As Shlag sat, waiting for the shuttle to transport her back to the ship with the rest of her squad, the prisoners, and her quarters, she began to think. How could she explain this to her family? How was she going to explain it to her friends and squad mates? She was going to be executed because the prisoner had lied to her and in the heat of battle, she believed him and withdrew from battle. A battle she could have very well been glorified in had she died. Instead she is to be stripped of all glory she had and executed.
Before she knew it the shuttle was docking. Never before had she been scared. She'd glared into the face of death hundreds of times. But this was different. This she had no power to prevent and it horrified her. She stepped off of the shuttle and made her way back to her quarters. She tapped in her passcode and the door slid open. She went inside before the door closed once more. Once inside her gearing room, she stood on a round floor tile and tapped a button. A machine activated and disassembled her armor. It first removed her helmet. Oxygen hissed as it escaped the feeder tubes. It felt warm on her skin, having just passed through the air heater. The helmet lifted from her head revealing a soft lovely face and well kept red, dyed hair that was tied up in a very messy bun. The machine disassembled the rest of her armor leaving her nude. The armor would be disposed of after she was executed. She went into the bathroom and took a cool shower in hopes it would calm her nerves. "After I finish and dress. I going to see the prisoners", she thought out loud.
She stepped out 20 minutes later, after it changed to an real shower. She slipped into a pair of rather baggy pants, preferring to go commando. Holding them up, she slipped a belt through the loops and tightened it around her bottom, half way down her bum. She was no longer military personnel, so it didn't mater how she dressed. She grabbed a small white top and put it on. She then took a small red vest and put it on. She zipped it up. She got frustrated that she could never get it over her breasts. She zipped it up, leaving her covered breasts revealed. She put on a pair of her favorite boots and grabbed her sun glasses. The lights on the ships were always too bright for her. She left her room and made her way down to the brig where the prisoners wee being held. He way of dress turned many heads and stopped a few officers, where she had to explain the situation. Each time she grew more and more shaky out of fear and anger.

Nuba stood as Shlag approached "You are terrified, as well as infuriated. You worry that I have led you on, that the seal is in fact not with me, and that you will be executed dishonorably. Am i wrong?"

"Some kind of psyker I see. But no, I am to be executed in a week. And you will probably either be executed as rebels to your country or turned over to them and likely executed there. That's how things work here..." She strailed off attempting to keep her voice from shaking with the rest of her body except her perfectly real looking prosthetic left arm, but try as she might, she was on the brink of tears. She sat down on a reversed chair. The guard trying not to listen in on their conversation. "And it's all your fault! You lied to me and I believed you..." She yelled and then trailed off again, her resolve weakening. Tears began to slowly slid down her cheeks. She slammed a her right fist down on the table next to her.

"If you are to be executed, then whoever was in charge has been deceitful. I did not lie to you, the Seal is with me. But I find it quite interesting that you have already been branded without proper investigation of matters, your Emperor is not heartless, and the god-child of Daniele is not one to make foolish assumptions without sufficient information. Unless of course, he was given false information." He walked to the end of the cell, closer to where Shlag was sitting "You are lucky to be human, able to feel emotions. Fear is a powerful emotion, more powerful in fact than anger or happiness. And unfortunately I, unlike you, cannot feel emotion. I can only see it, and recognize it, but I do not know what it actually means to be happy or angry or frightened. I cannot feel pain or pleasure, and if you cut me or shoot me I will not bleed" Hallas looked over to Nuba with confusion as she heard him speak, but kept silent, as he was not speaking to her.

"Did the guards not search and disarm you before they put you in here? The God Emperor himself told me they found nothing on you except your weapons. And yet you still say that you have the seal? Your lying wont save either of us, so stop it." She was never afraid to die. But she knew of the horrors of the execution of traitors and failures, which is what all three faced. If what this man said was true about not feeling pain, she envied him greatly. That still didn't matter to her though. The fact that she would feel everything scared her most of all. Even if pain was no stranger to her, the pain they would feel in execution would be an experience she's seen.

"No, they did not search me, or anyone with me for that matter, they just took our weapons and that was all. But, regardless of whether things are looking glum for you, I am going to go present the Seal to the Emperor myself" He squeezed himself through the bars like clay, then walked to the door "Are you going to try and stop me?"

"And you'll die before you see him. Unless you have proper authorization, you can't leave the ship. Without more authorization you can't land on the flag ship. Further more, you're a prisoner. They'll never grant you authorization." The guard turned his head and looked through the grate on the door. He raised his rifle and aimed it at Nuba's head. The second guard hit a button and a loud alarm began to blare. "Back away from the door, get on the ground with your hands on your head!" The guard shouted, he switched off the safety to his pulse rifle.
