Waya took the offered gift delicately, unsure as to what was inside. "You didn't have to buy me anything... Though I guess this pays me back as you hogged my fur cloak the last time you were here." The boy teased a bit as he sat the item in his lap and began to carefully open it.

The tissue paper was ripped apart and soon enough he held up what was inside. He stared at it a long moment, holding it at eye level. "It's beautiful." He stated, though felt a bit guilty as it wasn't something he'd normally wear. Not wanting to offend the others he placed another smile onto his lips as he slipped the necklace around his neck.

"Thank you Karan, Prana.... I don't have anything for you though. Had I known I would have bought gifts too."

Karan shook his head quickly. He didn't want to have anyone in his debt or anything! "It's just something I found a little while ago. I think it was supposed to be for you, but it never got here, so now it did. I'm glad you like it."

There. Everything was fine, he was still in control... probably.

Prana didn't say anything. It was Karan's gift, not hers. And he had given her a wonderful gift as well. She reached for it subconsciously, stroking the slender feather that hung from her neck, blending well with the ones in her hair.

Waya gave a nod at the other boy's words, "Again... Thank you." He said as he rose up to his feet. "I'm just going to go throw the paper out." He stated as he stepped around the couch to exit the room. Once in the kitchen he glanced down at the necklace once more curiously. It really was neat.

Sighing a bit he pressed his ears to his head once more while tossing the paper into the garbage. Well at least when they left he could take it off, still not wanting to insult the other. He stood there a moment in thought, what should he do now? He really wasn't good at this host thing either. Chewing his lip he glanced cautiously at the doorway.

"Thanks for reminding me about the present." Karan spoke first. He fidgeted, playing with his fingers before grabbing his glass and taking another sip of apple juice, draining the glass.

Prana nodded, her back to the door. She was still afraid that she had upset Waya, and was trying to stay silent and unobtrusive. Hopefully she could get through the rest of this visit without causing anymore damage.

"Are you okay?"

Another nod, this one infused with more energy.

While he wasn't sure he believed her, Karan nodded as well, and hoped Waya would come back soon. Next time he would just mail anything he had to deliver.

From the kitchen Waya tried to eavesdrop on their conversation, but even with his enhanced hearing he couldn't make out any of the words. Giving a soft sigh he left the kitchen to make a quick run upstairs. What for? Well his fur cloak of course. It was is safety net if something went completely and utterly wrong. Once he snagged it from it's spot on his bed, he tugged it on and snuggled into the warm familiar scent.

Glancing at himself in the mirror he gave a small nod to himself and started back down. It was a hop, skip and jump down the steps before he casually walked back into the living room. "Well..." He started to speak as he moved to his chair and sat. "Karan, did you know our parents are planning a picnic? I over heard my mom speaking about it the other day to yours on the phone."

As he sat he tugged his feet up under himself Indian style, making sure his loin cloth kept what should be hidden, hidden. "I think it's in a few weeks," he continued, then cast his glance at Prana. Again he felt his cheek pink when he looked at the other. Why? "D-do you think you'll go? I'd like it if you could be there."

'Oh what am I saying?!' Waya shouted at himself mentally. He heard the distant chuckle of Neshoba in the back of his mind. "I .. uh..." Chewing his lip a moment Waya felt his ears press down against his head. 'Great... Just act like a dork why don't cha... But she...' Looking at Prana though his bangs, he forced a nervous smile on his face. "That is if your mom let's go you..."

Smile fading a bit he turned to look at Karan then between the two as he spoke. "Besides the both of you getting, well... Obviously growing up, what has been going on?" He asked with a small c**k of his head. 'Good.' He nodded to his inner thought. 'Subject change.'

Neshoba couldn't help but smirk at the boy's obvious discomfort from talking to the girl. It was of course that time of the year, Spring Fever and all. There was a small twinkle in Neshoba's eye and he chuckled again, earning a glare from Waya.

Upon seeing Waya return with his cloak Karan grinned. That he remembered quite well. It felt so nice when he got to rub it before, and it probably still did... what was he saying? A picnic? Of course, he wouldn't know anything about it. She never told him anything important, did she?

"I didn't know that," he commented, his tone even. "Maybe they wanted it to be a surprise or something." Or maybe they weren't supposed to know. Karan kept that thought to himself, not wanting to upset anyone further.

As Waya looked at her, Prana felt her cheeks burning again, but that was tempered by the cold inside her, reflected in her sad eyes. She liked staying with Karan's family; they were all nice people. But she missed her mum all the time, and the thought of a family picnic only made it worse. Struggling to keep calm, she cobbled a reply. "I'm staying with Karan right now, but if my mum comes back by then, I'll... have to ask her."

She knew that the answer would probably be yes whether she asked Karan's guardian or her own. Still, she hoped that she would get to ask the latter for permission.

Fantastic, now she was upset again. Karan thought quickly of a way to change the subject, but found it changed already, to one he was even less fond of. So he had gotten taller. Big deal! It was sudden, and he understood people being shocked by it- he certainly had been- but talking about it every five seconds only served to remind him of the conversation, of sorts, he'd had just before growing. And he didn't want to think about that, not yet.

So he didn't answer, instead shrugging. "How did you get your wolf?" he asked shortly after, in his own attempt to change the subject.

Prana perked up slightly. Before she had been too concerned to listen fully, but hearing more about a spirit animal would definitely be interesting, and perhaps even educational.

Waya noted the look in Prana's eyes and instantly felt guilty. He pressed his hears against his head and opened his mouth to try and fix the situation but shut it. He would just make it worse and he did note the subject change to his wolf.

Waya looked around for said creature and found Neshoba curled up by Prana's feet. When did the little devil get there. He sighed just a bit and reached up to run a hand through his hair. "Well... It's a long story. But I'll make it shorted. But first..." Waya reached at the bottom of the chair, and then tugged it forward as he took a few steps. This way he was closer to his guests than speaking from a distance.

"After staying here for awhile I started to imagine seeing this white wolf around. Everyone thought I was going insane, calling it a ghost or a imaginary friend. Though in a way he is a ghost, no one can see him and only I can. But then again in a way he's not. I got sick of seeing him. Tried to ignore him and he wouldn't go away. Then I decided to go after him.

That's when I fell and hurt myself. I had gone out at night into the woods after a snow fall and slipped on a patch of ice. He really saved my life, I blacked out and no one knew I was there. Believe it or not but he is quite warm when he lays on you, and he kept me warm while I laid on the ice. If you don't, Prana just reach down by your feet because he's there. Anyway...

When I woke up in my room I saw him there, and when we were alone I spoke to him finally. Everything got settled and he stayed. Mother Cubi gave me a book on shamanism and I think there may be something about a Spirit Guide in there, but I haven't really gotten around to reading it yet. I should...."

He paused from his story, giving a small sigh as he thought back to his first mother once more. What was Cubi doing now? The weather was cold and he hoped she wasn't wandering around somewhere in rags or worse.

Karan listened intently. The story sounded a bit flakey at first, but as it went on he became more and more interested. It was like a story one would tell around a campfire, and when Waya spoke of falling he shivered involuntarily. The thought of chasing something that wasn't entirely there was frighteningly familiar, and he worried about what that could mean. But Waya was okay. Wasn't he?

Feeling a patch of fur brush her hand when she reached down, Prana's eyes widened. It was surprising, but pleasantly so. "Spirit Guides... beings who watch over and protect you... they exist." Her voice was oddly clear, and rang with unfamiliar certainty. "But I don't think I've ever seen one."

Or had she? Her mind drifted to Takoda, and her visit with him. Most of it had focused on the feared Anasai, but she there was the lingering feeling of something familiar. Something she could barely remember, that her teacher had said they would discuss another time. "The Great Bear Spirit," she murmured, before lapsing back into silence.

Well, that was odd. But Karan was attentive, and finally gave his own view. "Don't things that don't want other people to see them have something to hide? I mean, they have to be hiding for a reason."

Was he being paranoid, or just careful? It was hard to tell.

As Prana sat quietly, she'd feel the warm sticky feeling of a tongue licking at her hand. Neshoba was taking a liking to the poor girl as she was in fact one of the only ones that believed in him even with not seeing. He listened to what Karan had to say about the situation as well and gave a puff of a snort. Hiding something? Psh, no way. Easiest way not to deal with people was more like it.

Waya just glanced at Neshoba then back at Karan and shrugged. "I can't really answer that, he would have to. Though I don't think he will at the moment." Waya said before giving a pause to his speech. "Are either of you two hungry? I'm not sure if I asked yet or not..." He tried to think back on all of their conversations and was coming up with a blank, blame it on the head injury.

"We might have snacks in the kitchen or something..." He stated, giving a small nod of his head. "Mom says I have to eat more because I'm too skinny." Waya rolled his eyes a bit at that. It wasn't that he was skinny, it's the fact that he just wasn't muscular yet.

All of a sudden Prana's hand felt sticky, and slightly damp. Startled, she looked down, afraid she had set her fingers in someone's cup. There was no one. It took a moment for her to realize what must have happened. Smiling a little- when animals licked that meant they were relaxed, right?- she felt clumsily, hoping to find something appropriate to pet. It was difficult. Hopefully that was his head?

Shrugging, Karan leaned back into his seat again. All he could do was voice his opinion; if Waya didn't seem worried than he had no reason to be. He was getting bored, and the thought of a snack was welcome. The extranious comments were not.

"I hear that a lot too," he admitted. The Satourne household certainly revolved around food, and while that had its strong points- chocolate pie for starters- it also meant large portions that he could rarely finish, and lots of nagging to eat more. Did she want him to turn into a balloon or what?

"Mmm. I think all of the kids here hear that." Waya commented as he once more stood up, raising his arms up and over his head to stretch out his back in a few places. "Any preference on snack? Fruit or junk food or something else?"

He glanced between the two waiting for an answer. While he waited he moved closer to Prana, lightly taking her hand and moving it a few inches to the side. "Pet him like this." He said as he gently guided Prana's hand for a few moments. "Or the scratch behind the ear gets his leg twitching. Which just feel around and you'll find it."

"Fruit would be nice," Karan said quickly. He would have preferred some chocolate or cake, if they had it, but Prana would probably want something more healthy. DS often forgot that, which only made Karan remember it more.

Prana nodded, promptly reddening as Waya took her hand. Still, she appreciated the thought, and scratched the spot he left her at for a few moments until her fingers sank into a niche. "Is that it?" she asked, amazed. He felt so REAL.

She had no idea what else to say, so she looked away, still scratching what she hoped was the favored spot. Her eyes fell on the window, the setting sun clearing her thoughts somewhat. "It's late."

Listening to Karan, Waya straightened himself once more and gave a faint nod. "Fruit it is. I know mom just got some strawberries and peaches. I'll bring both out and you can have what you want..." He offered a small smile as he spoke, and turned to leave the room. The poor boy never did this much for anyone, though these were his friends and he had to make sure they were happy right? He was enjoying it either way.

While entering the kitchen Waya took note that Ballentine was there as well, talking on the phone. He easily moved to the fridge to get the fruit he came for, allowing himself to do something he usually didn't do, and that was eavesdrop on her conversation. Apparently Ballentine was talking to DS, hearing both Ballentine's and DS's voice from the phone. A small frown would appear on his face as he gently nudged the fridge door shut with his foot.

Ballentine took that moment to say something to him, covering the receiver with her hand. Waya listened and gave a faint nod. It was there supper time and she was expecting them home soon. He'd once more open the fridge, placing the fruit back inside before shutting it once more. No need for that. He turned, walking back to the living room where his friends waited.

"I was just in the kitchen," he said a she leaned against the back of the couch near Prana. "My mom is on the phone with yours Karan. It's almost your supper time and wants the two of you home. I can walk you half way as our dinner is still cooking."

Of course they had to go home. Of course she had to make dinner just then. Karan knew he wasn't being rational, and he wasn't truly angry. He was just annoyed, and a bit disappointing. The visit had finally been getting a little interesting, and all of a sudden he had to pack up and go home.

"Fine," he muttered snappishly, standing and already starting for the door.

Karan's sudden actions took Prana by surprise. What got into him? She watched him, as he didn't even move to say anything to her or to Waya. "It would be nice if you wanted to walk," she said, in a rather apologetic tone. "But you don't have to."

Waya too was taken a back by Karan's sudden snapping, a small frown forming on his face. "Yes..." He said lightly, turning his attention to Prana. "I'll walk you home." Now for more than one reason. Sure Karan was a good guy but the sudden mood change made Waya a bit uneasy. He didn't want to let Prana get hurt by any sort of accident, not assuming Karan would do anything of course.

He used his hand to wave Neshoba off and then offered it to Prana. "Help up?" He asked, a small c**k of his head added to the question.
