[PRP] News and Parenting (Ariston and Heartless)
April 17th 07

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The night was cold, and within it Ariston felt his body shudder at the cloudy sky. It was darker then usual, especially since the moon was hiding behind a clump of clouds. On nights as dark as this, Ariston usually didn't go out into the open, but he was curious, and he had.. heard things.

News always seemed to spread fast, but this news he heard was making his heart pump fast, and his eyes glided from tree to tree looking for a certain someone. There was only one female that could drag him out into the darkest of the nights, and that was his dear Heartless.

She was someone who was special to him, and he very much enjoyed everything about her. Though, it wasn't in Ariston's nature to feel 'love'. What he felt for her wasn't really the affectionate feeling that many felt in the scenario of relationships, but he did care for her more then others. To him, she was a priority, the ONLY female he would search for and take time to do so. He held a special place for her in his mind.

Maybe it was his Kalona nature that was making him acknowledge such distant feelings, but for him it was a step, especially since Heartless was actually special to him. He didn't find anything wrong with it; if anything, it made him feel happier on even the worst of days. He also knew that Heartless herself didn't have many feelings present, so their relationship was a good one.

"Hmm.." He murmured, scanning his bright eyes throughout the area. "She's probably already found me.." He chuckled to himself and continued forward at a fast pace.

Feeling rather tired, Heartless had noticed her belly getting larger and larger by the day. It took speaking to one of the few acquaintances she had to explain to her what had happened. She had an odd feeling in her belly, almost like butterflies, and she was so excited.

For the past few weeks or so, the kalona had been feeling rather odd. Not like herself. Her thoughts were clouded with thoughts of Ariston and only Ariston. Again, it took the same correspondent to explain to her the feelings of love. But she worked out the thought that she wasn't in love per say. She couldn't 'love' or feel love. She could feel more partial to someone then others. But then again, she couldn't explain how she was feeling, all she knew right now was that she wanted to talk to Ariston about these new findings.

Sensing a familiar aura and scent, Heartless moved her way towards it, knowing that it was Ariston. Spying the familiar white coat, she couldn't help but move a little faster towards him. Once she was close to him she spoke, "Hello there." It was hard to believe this was the same Heartless that never spoke to anybody.

Ariston almost feel over from the sight of Heartless. "Oh my.." He said, looking at her belly. She must have been expressing that maternal beauty that he had heard so much about. It was almost as if her belly was radiating the moon. "Hello dear." He said, nuzzling her belly.

He suddenly got urges that made him feel.. nervous.

"Have you been feeling alright? Have YOU been alright?" He moved closer to her, scanning her to make sure that everything was intact. I mean, she was carrying quite a load of beautiful children with her.

"How are you?" He finally asked, calmly and cooly, while looking her in the eyes. "I was worried because I haven't seen you."

AnimeChickie
Heartless didn't know how to react to his affectionate nature so she didn't say anything until he addressed her again. "I've been feeling fine. Just having a little harder to slip away in the shadows, but fine nonetheless. How have you been?" She spoke softly, because of the tremendous weight she was carrying now, and it usually took her a lot of energy to move around as she usually did. The mare was used to covering long distances easily, but now she could hardly venture half the length of what she used to do.

"You worry too much. I'm fiine, and you should know that I can take care of myself." Heartless nodded solemnly and smirked at him. "It's more difficult to get around. Sorry I haven't been out as much as I used to."

Ariston chuckled. "Well of course I have been fine, I am excited from all of this!" He looked down at her belly and then up at her again. "You know, us having offspring, children to carry on in the future."

The thought of three more Kalonas joining the community made him shiver with excitement. "I know you can take care of yourself, though you shouldn't work too hard. You should lie down, or sit.. or something.." His wing rubbed his head in a confused matter, for he did not know of these things too well.

"Don't apologize, though all I ask is that you get lots and lots of rest." His eyes watched her carefully, making sure that every breath she took was a full one.

"Children.. can you believe it? We are going to be.. parents.."

AnimeChickie
Smirking slightly, Heartless didn't know how to smile so that was as close as she could get. "Well, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself." She knew that becoming a maternal figure would probably be incredibly difficult for her. She already had trouble expressing herself to Ariston, how would she do the same for little... foals that... looked like her or Ariston? She was also intrigued by the fact that they might look like either of them. Okay, in general, all of these new parenting things were confusing. But she knew that Ariston would try and help as much as he could, so she was comforted by that fact.

"Hm. Nope, I still can't believe it. Everything is sort of... coming at me all at once. It's almost unsettling, but I must say I'm very excited. And I can see that you are too."

"There is nothing to worry about, our children will be something alright. I just hope that they can fend for themselves, and choose to be what they want.." He sighed, wondering if they would have daughters or sons.. or both! "Well, at least we are in this together, right?" He smirked at her back, and put his wing over her belly gently.

"It is good to see you are excited, I think you will be suprised, and will make a great mother." He looked at her glowy eyes and smiled. "I agree though, it just sort of.. happened.." Looking back towards the sky, he chuckled at the thought of it all.

"Of course I am excited, I would love to have offspring, and I am pleased that you and I will share some beautiful children."

Doing a RP between Squirtle and Kitsune to show how they met.

Squirtle spat at the ground, laughing at how easily he could use water. Since he had been training, the Bear was becoming almost too good at water skills. Sometimes it confused him, but most of the time, he basked with confidence.

Walking through the forest boredly, he sighed and pawed at the watery ground. There had to be other things he could do, he just haden't figured them out yet. Pouting his mouth into a circle, he tried hard to form bubbles, but to his worry, online a few popped out. It seemed he had a ton of work to do.

Kitsune lurked behind a tree, watching the brightly colored bear. It seemed he was able to use water.. in a strange way. Kitsune's eyes brightened up at the appearance of a few bubbles, and he decided he just had to meet this bear.

Coming from out of the bushes, he crept forward holding his sword and smiling, hoping to give the bear a good appearance. "Hello there!" he said, cheerfully. "Now, I must ask, How did you just do that?" His eyes gleamed in enjoyment.

Turning around quickly, Squirtle got into a defensive mode position. "Wha, What?!" He said, shocked by the stallions appearance. The stallion was muscular and strong, even held a sword!

From the stallions face though, it looked as though no danger was present. Lightening up alittle, Squirtle looked at him caustiously, but answered, "Training and working on my water bearing skills. What were you doing around these parts?" The bear lightened his expression and flopped onto the ground.

Kitsune could do nothing but chuckle, and looked curiously at the little bear. He had quite the personality, and look as though he was ready to take him on! "I walked by and noticed you had some strange skills with water. Hope you don't mind that I was watching." Placing his sword by his leg, he looked back towards the bear.

"Training? That's always good to hear." He said, confidently. "I get dissapointed when others don't learn how to hold on to their skills. Tell me Bear, what is your name? I am Kitsune."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 27, 2007 5:31 pm

Watching his sword curiously, Squirtle looked towards Kitsune's dark eyes. What mysteries was the stallion hiding? What secrets did he hold? The bear was curious to learn everything he could.

"Its ok that you were watching, I am flattered Kitsune. I am Squirtle." He bumped his paw against his back, revealing the hard shell. "I am just like a turtle, and that's why I am able to use water like I do. I hope to train as much as I can to be better and learn about more things that I am capable of. What about you, and that sword.." He eyed him suspiciously.

"Squirtle? And a turtle? Now that is something new. What an interesting bear." He shook his head playfully as if he had seen everything now. "Its always good to learn more about your skills and how you can improve."

"My sword?" He nudged at it with his nose. "Its just.. something from my past. I carry it with me wherever I go. That's what I train with, sword skills." He sighed, though kept his composure.

"So, I haven't seen you around these parts much. You should come train with me sometime." Turning his head and smiling, that idea sounded nice to him. The bear was strong, and anything strong appealed to Kitsune.

He noticed Kitsune's changed expression when he mentioned his sword, so he decided not to dwell on it. It seemed the horse had many memories from the past, and at that moment there was no reason to bring them out.

"Sword skills are awesome.." He said, gleaming at him childishly. "I hope I can watch you train some time.."

At his next comment, Squirtle brightened up, and was shocked. He had never spent time with anyone else, and now someone was welcoming him into his domain. "For sure, Kitsune." He said, blushing. "I've always wanted to tag behind someone else strong, and that I can learn from."

Kitsune smiled at the Bear's response. "Well, hopefully I can learn something from you, Squirtle." Although both interested in fighting and aventure, it seemed their personalities were completely different. That was something else that Kitsune found interesting, and that is why he wanted him to tag along.

"Come on, let's get going." He swung his body around the other way and turned his head. He gave him a smooth smile and started to walk the other direction. His ears perked at the sound of the bears paws stomping behind him. Some relationships are meant to be, and they both realized that quickly.

[PRP] Fire meets Fire (Saphira and Kindle)
Started- 28th of April

User Image

The day was quiet, and it left Saphira humming slowly to an old tune she rememberd from her past. The noise of the wind reminded her of an old tale, and as she curled on a patch of warm leaves, she watched her tail flick back and forth to the beat of her humming. It had been awhile since she had been in contact with anyone, and she realized that she was getting lonely.

Saphira was an emotional one, though she did not show it. Remaining stern and poised, she let a sweep of hot steam flow out of her nostrils. She nuzzled the ground to get the warm feeling out of her nose, but then brought her attention to the field in front of her where she noticed a small animal running around. She had already eaten earlier, so there was no reason to hunt. Instead, she remained where she was, still watching her tail dance back and forth.

Kindle had had enough. If it wasn't her mother that was nagging and lecturing her, it was her father reprimanding her for causing her mother to lecture her. It was enough to drive a foal, much less a grown mare, up the cave wall, AND give a horrible headache to boot.

Stomping angrily against the ground underneath her, hot embers and sparks shot out from her hooves as she walked. That was the last time she would let her parents talk down to her like that. She was a full grown mare now, wasn't she? So why should she listen to them? Why should she have to follow rules she had to obey as a foal... she was an adult, and it was about time to be treated like one.

"I'll show them," she muttered under her breath, tossing her long, burned-colored hair over one shoulder. She'd run away.. that'd show them.

It seemed there was going to be a clash soon, especially of opposite emotions. One emotion being fiery and full of thoughts, while the other was cool and sadly calm. Saphira sensed it, and arched her neck so she could scope out the area. Using her keen eyes, she saw... flames? "How interesting.." She mumbled, though kept herself planted on the ground. What was coming towards her? It was definitely something interesting.

It finally appeared that it was a mare, and she was a brilliant one at that. With sparks flying by her feet, Saphira almost felt destined to let some flames out herself. Keeping in her playful emotion, she curved her tail so that it was no long dancing behind her.

Finally standing up, Saphira felt her legs ache at the quick movement. She didn't want the mare to trample her while deep in thought, so she stood and made it noticeable that she was waiting there.

CuterThanYou
Continuing to grumble to herself, Kindle's orange eyes nearly missed seeing the blue figure in front of her. As the large figure began to shift and move, her eyes darted towards the creature's direction, and her stomping came to a quick halt.

What was that standing there, up ahead? She had seen various different Soquilis in her roaming adventures across the clearing, in the forest, and by the river... but none so ever different as this one. Could this... could this possibly be a kalona, that her father had always warned her about? It couldn't be a skinwalker.. those fierce creatures had pelts on their back, from what she was told. This blue beauty, as intimidating as she looked, seemed quite calm, pensive. It was the spikes on her body and the fierce looking wings that kept Kindle at bay, worry creasing her brow.

Should she run away, or stand her ground? It was obvious that the mare had already spotted her... but Kindle was at a loss for what to do next. What would her father do? He'd most likely tell her to run, and find cover in a neighboring forest. Her mother, on the other hand, insist she'd be able to take on a creature, since, after all, she had Nightmare blood in her.

Standing there, thoughts and emotions fought within her. What was she supposed to do now?

Lightly giggling, Saphira watched the mares expression. 'Poor child', she thought to herself. She could see how young she was, and that she was newly grown up in both the world and body. Saphira must have been a strange sight, especially for one who was still new to the world. With her wings neatly folded, Saphira smiled, hoping to look as non-intimidating as possible. She also kept her tail quiet beside her, in hopes that that wouldn't startle her either.

"Hello." She said, raising her voice so the mare could hear her from her far away distance. "I bid you no harm." She said, keeping her voice in almost a dreamy tone. She took a few steps forward, and then stopped, only because she didn't want to startle her. "Are you, alright?" She said, tilting her head.

Of course, it wasn't like Saphira to intrude on other's problems, though because she was lacking in social anything, she was perky at the situation. The mare in front of her was something different, and Saphira was unable to figure out what it was.

CuterThanYou
The giggle let came from the creature caught Kindle offguard, and she silently wondered to herself what was so funny. Did she had a spot on her, or something in her hair? She shook her head roughly, attempting to fling out anything that could have nestled its way into her long locks, yet kept her eyes glued to the mare in front of her, should she try to pull some kind of stunt.

Her tense muscles relaxed a bit, as the calm voice greeted her, assuring her safety. She was hesitant in trusting the stranger, but, taking after her father, eventually put her trust in the words, hoping they were true.

"Depends on your definition of alright," she grunted unladylike for her answer, taking a step closer towards the beautiful creature. It looked similar to a horse... but was it? "Why do you care, anyways?"

Why did she care? That was an excellent question. Saphira herself actually pondered what would be the correct answer. "I don't know." Silly, Saphira always knew. But apparently, she didn't have an answer that the mare was maybe looking for. "But, I spotted you from afar, and noticed you seem upset." That seemed good enough for her!

She noticed that the mare was closer to her now, so she was exaiming all of the details on her young body. "How rude of me not to introduce myself first!" Shaking herself out of a daze, he flashed her saphire eyes on the mares. "My name is Saphira. What is your name?" In her strange excitement, she seemed to be forgetting her manners as well!

At her other comment, Saphira smiled. "My definition at alright is being content with a situation. You don't seem like that at all, m'dear." Once again, steam naturally swam out of her nose. Her body seemed to be getting warmer.

Her next remark, although rather childish, felt like it needed to be said. "Fire.." Her face flexed as the word came out, and she felt an inner glow in her roaring lungs. Gwee, and a few other she could not name also possessed fire in their lungs. Though, this mare seemed to possess it on her hoofs and ankles.

CuterThanYou

Her answer satisfied the young mare, who silently berated herself in her mind. If it was plainly noticeable that she was upset, then this mare in front of her must find her quite the spoiled one, throwing a temper tantrum.

She bowed her head, as she had been taught, in return greeting towards Saphira. "I don't think it was rude at all. I never asked for your name to begin with... did I? Mine's Kindle, like the fire."

Kindle beamed proudly of her name, and stomped one hoof on the ground to bring attention to her namesake, ignoring the little sparks that lit up and burned away the few blades of grass under her hooves.

Her eyes widened as she saw the wisps of smoke rising from the mare's nose. What in the world was she? How was that even possible?

"I'm... well, I'm not alright then, I guess," she stammered, refusing to let her eyes wander from Saphira's nostrils. Her voice began to sound further alarmed, as she didn't know how to handle such an awkward situation. "Do you realize that there's smoke comin' out of your nose?"

She heard the mare mention 'fire', and Kindle became aware that she was referring to her hooves. Nodding, still worried, she brought one hoof up to show Saphira. "It doesn't hurt... everyone thinks it hurts me, but it's just a part of me, like my Mother and sister."

"Why are you not alright, Kindle?" Saphira was almost suprised at how blunt she was being, though she couldn't complain, she and Kindle were getting along just fine at the moment. It seemed any ill thoughts of danger and such had passed the situation. Now it was just two unique ones facing each other calmly.

At Kindle's next comment, Saphira could do nothing but smile. "Of course there is." She turned her head sideways and blew a light spark out of her nose. Unfortunately, it was so hot outside that the spark became a light flame. Saphira was aware of such, so she made sure that flame was far away from Kindle's direction. "I am a Dragon, so I can breathe fire. Do not fret, though. I have a cool heart, and do not strike others maliciously. That is only when I must protect what is important to me." She winked at the mare, letting her know that her 'wild' side was in no way conflicting with this conversation.

"Fire is one of the greatest blessings that we could ask for." Saphira eyes gleamed at the mare's hooves."While fire is represented as dangerous, it shows that we are always burning to a stronger sense of life. Others could never realize that because they do not possess natural fire, but it is always important to recognize in your heart." After releasing the flame early, which was much needed, her body was starting to cool finally, leaving her to rest more comfortably.

"And if you are wondering how I noticed you were so upset, it is not a matter of reading emotions." She paused and smiled. "I noticed because the flames on your hooves were brilliantly shaking, not in the calm way that a fire rests on logs. Yours are burning to situation that needs to be resolved." Thinking for a moment, she let out one last comment. "I do hope that doesn't sound rude of me, to read you by your fire.. but, it was just something I observed, Kindle." She nodded pollitely to the mare.

CuterThanYou

Kindle hesitated to say anything to this mare. She was an older mare, just as her mother was, and in her mind, older mares were nothing but trouble and frustration. Saphira, as kind as she appeared in her speech and facial expressions, would probably treat her the same way Aita would, which would only irk her more than she already was.

After taking a few moments to formulate the question in her mind, she asked the dragon bluntly, "Do I look like a foal to you?"

Kindle hadn't the faintest idea as to what a dragon was, but didn't want to clue the scaled mare in on her lack of knowledge. In her mind, it was best to pretend to know what was going on, instead of admitting to not knowing. "I'm tired of being treated as one... I look just as grown up as other mares do.. so why should I be treated differently?"

Startled, she felt her legs betray her and take a step backwards as the dragon-horse blew her flame. The young mare was quite impressed with the trick, and secretly wished her own flames could be shown off in such a way. Having been exposed to fire since birth, Kindle didn't fear the flame nor heat of the fire... but she thought herself smart to be cautious, since she wasn't the one weilding the fire this time.

"I wouldn't be me without my fire," Kindle said, storing away the wise one's words in the back of her head. She didn't understand them now, but Saphira seemed very knowledgable in what she spoke of, and Kindle wished she understood more. "My fire makes me special... I feel... different, knowing there is something unique about me."

Her cheeks flushed as Saphira mentioned the intensity of her hoof-flames as they flickered and sparked when she was angry eariler. She hadn't been aware that the flames licking at her ankles would expose her inner feelings... or perhaps this dragon had a special way to see it?

"It's not rude to look," she finally admitted, looking down at her feet to check to see if there was anything different about her fire. "I mean... it's not like I could stop you anyways."

"I didn't mean to imply that you are of foal status, though you are indeed younger then my old sense and body." She giggled lightly. "Having age in no way defines wisdom in my book, my two leggar was young when I first met him and chose him, and he was wise beyond his years. Don't ever let another tell you the extent of your knowledge, Kindle." She warmly smiled, hoping she would at least feel better. "I don't judge others, I just try to understand them of course."

"It is good you feel that way, at least you understand yourself well. The difference is not just physical, but it reflects your being overall.." She decided not to trail off, she didn't want to bore the dear girl.

"But anywho, I just noticed it because fire varies from being calm to crazy, and yours were reacting in a way that gave me that impression. Its not necessarily a bad thing, I actually find it interesting. Your body must have been reacting overall."

She continued to look at Kindle closely. She couldn't put her hoof on it, but there was still something off in her expressions. "Well, I wish there was something I could do to raise your spirits. It is always a pain to dwell on something, why not chat about something else?" Her blue eyes gleamed, feeling playful at the matter. She didn't want Kindle to wander off in her angry state, and hoped she could keep socializing for the time being.

CuterThanYou
The dragon was very formal towards her, and Kindle felt awkwardly inadequate in her presence. Although she considered herself to be an adult by physical form, she knew she was far from achieving the maturity and wisdom this mare possessed. Though they stood at nearly the same height as one another, she felt more like a foal than ever.

"What wisdom do I have?" she thought to herself, tilting her head to one side in puzzlement. "Saphira.... how can I prevent someone from telling me what I can or can't do, especially when it's my own parents?"

It made her feel proud, to be complimented and told that she 'understood herself well'. At the same time, though, she didn't actually feel like she knew herself. It was all very confusing... her wants and wishes conflicted with rules and lectures her parents had given her ever since she left her basket. She knew right from wrong; that was a start, wasn't it? But when it came to everything else, she wasn't sure whether she should follow her own thoughts, her own decisions, or abide by her father and mother's words, as wise or unwise as they may be.

"That's a neat trick... how'd ya learn it?" She inquired, stepping forward to take a closer look at the dragon's nostrils. The smoke and fire within the dragon made her more than curious. How was it that a creature could produce fire within their own bodies? She wasn't sure how her hooves were able to keep themselves ablaze and not harm her legs, but Saphira's fire came from WITHIN her. It was amazing and confusing, all at the same time. "Does your fire react to your emotions as well, Saphira?"

She smiled as she listened to the blue mare. Saphira was obviously concerned for her, though Kindle didn't understand why she should worry about a stranger to begin with. It felt nice... to have someone care, even if you didn't know them.

"Ahh, parents. Now, this seems to make sense then." The dragon slenderly moved her body so she was at a much better distance from Kindle, then facing her with a smile. She realized there was no need for the awkward space anymore, and that they should inquire to get to know one another better. Or at least, that's what Saphira hoped of course. At the closer distance, Saphira didn't realize her height compared to Kindle's, though that was only because of her larger body structure. Naturally, she arched her neck so she looked smaller, only because Saphira always wanted to be pollite to ones who deserved such manners.

"It is obvious that your parents are worried, all parents are at first. There comes a time when the children begin their own adventures, which usually makes a parent consider their own past-lifes. It is selfish in a way, that parents want to be actively involved in every decision or life experience you have, though just remember, you are their deepest pride, their greatest gift. Maybe they feel it is their duty, though of course to children that would always sound irrelevant." Tilting her head, she wondered if she should ask one last thing. "What is it that they are commanding of you, if you don't mind if I ask." She didn't want to intrude too much, so she bowed her head down as she finished speaking. If Kindle felt like sharing, then she would, though Saphira was more worried if she had sounded too nosey on the subject area.

Her ears perked at Kindle's reaction to her fire-breathing. "It actually took quite a lot of practice. I came into this land still bearing many of my Dragon-traits, and I am thankful I was able to keep the best for my own enjoyment. That is why I expressed to you my understanding of fire, because it is deeply a part of me as it is to you." Her eyes gleaming, she steadily moved her tail around her back leg again. "Well of course it does, especially when I get angry." She giggled, and laid her eyes back on the mare. "I can be quite a load to handle when I become emotional, and the spark that dwells within me almost feels like a flamethrower. That is just the result of a mind/body connection, which with pure meditation, can be achieved by anyone."

"Forgive me for ranting, oh goodness me." She shook her head, wondering if the poor girl was completely bored by her ramblings.

In-Thread RP with Cherie!
Ariston, baskets, Maeryn, and Bane
May 8th 07

Tweekend
As Ariston stood guard, he sighed at his current situation. He had been watching these darn baskets for so long, that his body felt weary, and he was curled around them, with his hair draping over a few. Chuckling to himself, he wondered, 'Heh, I must look like a female with this hair. I can only imagine what Heartless felt as she went through with this all..' Staring down at his kin, he smiled at how different they all were. Who knew what would come out of each basket, he just hoped they were attractive, of course.

There was no need for doubt, especially since he and Heartless were gorgeous in themselves. He knew it was pointless to even consider failure in beauty, though as he stared at them, one caught his eye. The darkest of the three made him sweat at the thought of a corrupt child, an opposite Kalona of himself. It completely stood out just as Heartless did, black as the night. Either way, he would be proud of his children, espescially because they held the most important genes of them all. Personality didn't mean anything to him anyways, their appearance is what he strived in producing. They could choose to live as they liked, as long as they remained beautiful in doing so.

Shaking himself, he lifted his body out of the leaves and twigs, hoping to get whatever dirt off that was on his body. He has been sitting for far to long, and he could tell that his light body was stained with dirt. He didn't mind, for his children were important to him currently, and he knew he could fix himself up when Heartless returned.

Miss Cherie
Ariston and his baskets did not go unnoticed as he stood watch over them, his long hair creating something of a curtain for them. The cover was not complete, but it assured the watcher of exactly whose children they were. With a hint of dark amusement, a mare with a body and hair just as black as Heartless' neared the expecting father. "Charming, Ariston. I see that you have found yourself in a similar position to my own." Maeryn moved out of the darkness, a small foal following in her wake. "And who is the mother to these young ones?" Now that was a good question. Who had caught the eye of Pride itself? And caught it long enough to produce another generation of little Prides?

She observed him, letting a hint of her amusement show for a moment, before it disappeared. With her wings furled, she seemed almost completely black, save for her horns and the broken heart on her chest. She could have easily watched him from the shadows with a fair chance of going undetected. However, that would not suit her purposes, not to mention that little Bane might not have had the control to remain hidden himself. As she thought those things, the foal pranced up until he was at her elbow, peering at Ariston and family from behind her foreleg. She shook her head, and snorted, pushing him forward with her nose. He needed to learn to be bold, and unafraid, young though he was.

Tweekend
Ariston, in the midst of shaking himself off, looked towards the dark female. He was so used to how dark Heartless was, that she was almost light compared to her. He had run into her before, but only briefly. He enjoyed when they did speak earlier in time, and although she might have been a threat to his children's safety, he decided to let her speak first.

"Hello again Maeryn" He said, pollitely. "And hello to you." He nodded towards Bane, seeing the complete resemblence to his mother.

"The mother is Heartless, I am not sure if you have met her before, though she is dark like yourself, with glowing eyes." Tilting his head as he spoke, he looked from the young foal back up to the mother's eyes. "What brings you out on this dark night? I know that my white body makes for an easy target," letting his wings out, he shook his ravaged hair and eyed the female. "though I do not plan to remain a target. If your intentions are somewhat kind, then I would be happy to continue to chat." His hoof stomped directly next to a basket, and he could of sworn he felt it wiggle in response. There is no way that he would allow any harm to them, he would even damage his body for their sake! But, he needed to make it clear to Maeryn that he was not playing around, and that he needed to know of their safety.

From Maeryn's expression on the situation though, that didn't seem like it was her plan. She had brought her own kin along, so maybe that meant that she was only there to observe. Ariston needed the clarity from these Kalonas, they were all so different on their approach to life. That is what made him intrigued by the female, for she seemed to have her own Kalona tactics laid out in her life.

Miss Cherie
Maeryn, more than anything, believed in the strength of the Kalona race. That Ariston had chosen to breed with a mare of his own kind was a point in his favor. A point, which in fact, went a long way towards absolving him of some of the supposed 'weakness' that he possessed. In truth, she knew that she did not know him well enough to judge him appropriately. Calamity, she had known for a long enough time to take his measure, but such was not the case for this proud stallion. She raised her head until her gaze was almost on a level with his. "I have no ill intentions towards your children. Why would I harm the get of my kin?" There were little Kalona in those baskets, all of whom had the chance to become great. She would not put that at risk.

Curiously, her little colt approached the stallion, and looked up and up, until he could see his face. "'Lo," he said, as polite a greeting as he knew how to make. He fidgeted, and she snorted, amused by his innocent energy. He would grow to become a strong stallion himself, that she knew. Already, he was learning a great many things about the world around him, and drinking in the knowledge. Of course, it was not often that she could tear him away from his father. The young foal idolized Rot, something which she thought might well occur with Ariston's children as well. She wondered how he would handle being a father when they began to develop their own personalities, and opinions.

She had met Heartless, long ago, however briefly. It seemed to her that the mare was a relatively normal example of the breed. That was certainly favorable. "Tell me, Ariston... how do you feel about being a parent, hmm?" He, who seemed such a free spirit. Did he chafe at the bonds of his new role, or did he accept it gracefully? She inclined her head, observing the baskets. They were indeed quite beautiful, much like their parents. In a way, that reminded her of her own baskets, all of which who had been quite remarkable in their own way. It seemed that an extra effort was put into making the baskets of the Kalona eyecatching, as though the two-leggers feared what might happen if they did not do so. That thought amused her greatly.

Tweekend
"That calms me, and I thank you for that." He tilted his head and readjusted his wings so that they layed more comfortably now. His position was more relaxed, and he wasn't ready to defend as eagerly anymore. Maeryn held her own ideals proudly, and Ariston picked up that feeling almost instantly. It was a nice drift to acknowledge, and he felt energized on the thought of true Pride. He knew there was a reason why he enjoyed her so much, and he suddenly rememebered those feelings by her composure.

His gaze was taken away now by the young Kalona foal. So soon it would be for Ariston to have his own little children to smile to. "He looks strong already, I hope my children are able to achieve such.." He bent his head, and smiled at Bane. "You will make your parents proud, I can just tell." His tail flicked and he kept a stern but friendly face to the young lad.

Raising his head once again to Maeryn, he smiled at her question. "There is nothing more that I want then to watch beautiful children retake mine and Heartless' genes and make them their own." Glancing back at the foal, of course Ariston was more focused on physical attributes openly, though his deeper thought on the issue was well figured out. "Who wouldn't want to continue such a personal and sacred blood, especially when I know it is quite dear to me. Heartless and I may not connect on utter feelings of 'love' that so many preach about, but we will raise our children to understand certain standards of living. I think it is ok in having another who is more dear then others, and I will allow my children to plan their lives as they desire." Heartless was still so new to learning these many feelings, now that he thought about it, so love was never an issue between them.

"I am curious, how are your thoughts, seeing as you are an expert now," He smiled in a friendly manner, "on children as well? Maybe I can learn from your experiences."

Miss Cherie
How entertaining. The youngling seemed most surprised by Ariston's manner, and she watched as he blew out a bit of air, and shifted his footing. Did the big stallion make Bane nervous? Silly child. He had nothing to fear, with his mother nearby. She flicked her tail, and nosed at the colt, reminding him of her presence. He seemed to calm slightly after that. "He is quite strong. He takes after his father, in that way." The thought pleased her. While the foal resembled her to a great extent, he also took after his sire as well. A nice mixture of the two.

"I have no doubt that they will," she assured, noting the male's great pride and joy in his young ones. Surely, with such a parent, they would grow to be strong, protected against the many dangers presented young Kalona. To her amusement, Bane raised his head proudly, and stood his ground. "Yeah." There was such surety in the foal's voice that she almost laughed. He "knew" that his parents would be proud of him, though he had not proved himself as yet. Not like Ruin, Domnu, or Nemesis had. Truly, he had much to learn. There was time in which to teach him. She was not concerned by that.

So she was an expert, was she? Well, if the shoe fit... "My thoughts on what exactly? Raising foals?" Better to ask now, and know precisely what Ariston wanted to have answered, than to give a false answer. She knew that she herself had a relationship which many would consider a loving one. If that was so, she would not mention it to anyone but the one with whom she shared it, and she was not likely to even do that much. There was no need to acknowledge what they had in any formal way. They knew what they knew, and that was enough. Any type of ceremony, or pronouncement would be a mockery of what they word, and that she would not allow.

"I have yet to meet the father, you know. I hope to do so one day, I have had run-ins with many of your children, and they are quite impressive. As are you, though I can't imagine what the father is like." Seeing as he and Heartless were complete opposites appearance wise, he wondered what the father looked like himself. " I think there is more to just being a good parent, I just hope to be a good life teacher oveall." He nodded as he spoke, and looked at both Maeryn and Bane. Such a nice treat for him to watch before his own time would come. A perfect example of what he could hope to achieve.

He was suprised in how the foal answered, and it made him sure of the closeness between the family. He made sure to be very chatty on the subject now, especially because of Maeryn's abilities as a mother. "Sure, let's start with raising foals." He chuckled a bit, only because of his horrible specifics. "I can't even imagine what personalities mine might have, Heartless is still developing hers, and I am usually shameless in mine!" He sighed almost exhaustingly. "I would like to hear any stories of yours, especially because I worry that I may not be able to answer every question a child asks perfectly."

He looked at Maeryn, though differently this time. He didn't realize how unprepared his was until this moment! "Heh, I seem to be flustered.." He shook his head dramatically.

Miss Cherie

"Ruin very much resembles his father. I think you've met him." Yes, she was almost certain that he had. She did not expect that Ariston would run across Rötschreck, but it was possible. "You and I have slightly different ideals, so I imagine that my methods may not work well for you. But, then again, they might. I have raised my children to be proud of their inheritance, telling them of many stories associated with Kalona, and of some of the more exemplary stallions and mares of the breed." And, through observing their parents, the young ones had learned more than she could ever teach them. "However, a great deal of what they learn, they learn from watching me. Teach by example. However it is that you wish them to behave, behave that way." If he wished them to be strong, he would be strong. If he wished them to be prideful, he would act with pride.

"When Ruin was a foal, he took it upon himself to destroy every flower he could find, out of the belief that flowers weakened stallions. I know that he got that belief from watching you with Wrath. So, foals will form their opinions based on how adults behave, and what they say. Never think that your babes are not listening, for they are. Tell them stories in their baskets, tell them what you wish them to learn. They will take what they may from it, and it will help to shape them." She knew this because each of her children displayed some knowledge of what she had told them while still in their baskets. Ruin, especially, and Domnu had learned much from their time so encased. "They are sharp, they will remember, and process things in their young minds. Young Kalona are very bright, by nature." Though not all of them exhibited such qualities. Only a great deal of them.

She smiled wryly, having a certain degree of empathy for the stallion's position. "No one is prepared to be a parent. You must learn how to be one as you go along, for no one can teach you what you must do for your children. That is for you to discover." Maeryn observed as her foal examined the baskets from where he stood, noting how he seemed fascinated by their colors. "They are very impressionable, you know. If you say something, they are liable to repeat it." And take it to heart. So, he should be careful what he said around them. "Bane is still learning, just as your foals will learn. I am taking him with me for now so that he can see more of the world, and still remain protected." Many Kalona foals did not experience things that way. Often, they were left to their own devices, and forced to protect themselves against much larger Soquili. It was then that the breed lost their young ones, for they were not capable of defending themselves against all attackers.

Tweekend
"Aye, I have met Ruin, quite a spectacle indeed! I can imagine now how the father looks." Ruin fluttered with such a color of blood that Ariston's eyes were shocked when he first laid eyes on him. Now that he remembered it, he knew he saw half of a dark heart on his chest, reminding him of his connection to Maeryn. "Many Kalona feel that I dislike being a Kalona, which is completely wrong. I only scowl at many of them for pretending to act 'the Kalona way' but not truly understanding how it works and why it matters. I may not be the best example of a Kalona, but that is why I don't stomp around with the most pride towards it. So, I don't think it will be wrong to teach my children such Kalona ideals, especially since I am still learning how they connect with my life." His eyes again fled to the dark basket, which seemed most mysterious out of the three. "I just hope my children will understand this as well." He nodded in his reflection.

As she continued to speak about Ruin, he remembered that moment instantly, and chuckled at how it impacted him so. He and Wrath must have looked crazy to the young foal. Though, another anxiety struck his mind as soon as Maeryn said 'Wrath.' "Man, Wrath is going to be pissed at me.." Looking at Maeryn almost childishly, he laughed at his scenario. "No need to worry, though he just hates.. everything, and he will immediately connect this to love. Oh my.." He gulped and shook his face. "Hopefully my children will sway him by hating certain things too." He lightened up at the thought.

"I will remember to be cautious then, especially because of how easily a young one will observe things. I am really going to have to step myself up, and mature a bit." Ariston could be mature when he deemed it so, just most of the time he felt no need to focus so hard on what he said. "Though, the more we chat about this, the more excited I become. I do thank you, for your kindness and openness with this all." He looked at her solemnly. "I want my children to meet you, if that is alright. I think it would be good for them to see such a strong Kalona." His face narrowed into a warmer expression. Never would he think that he could connect with another Kalona, especially a female! He really needed to be more open to discussion.

Miss Cherie
"Wrath is a Kalona true to form, and no doubt he will have his own ideas about your children. However, it is every parents right and responsibility to care for their young as they see fit. If he feel the need to bring harm to your foals, you will of course be prompted to respond in kind. That is the Kalona way, and the way of all Soquili in similar situations." Although she still did not hold that others were as noble, intelligent, or powerful as Kalona. "Some parents let their small ones fend for themselves, and by that manner they become strong. But they are also more open to attack. I do not advocate such a method, although that is a personal decision on the part of the parent."

Hmm. Maeryn at least approved of the fact that Ariston did not pretend to be something he was not. At least he acknowledged what his weaknesses were. All the better to strengthen them. "It would be good to teach your children such things, Ariston. There is nothing wrong with doing so, even if you yourself do not fully understand them. There are others who do, and your young will benefit from learning of their kind." Yes, they would. It was good to see a new generation, and from a wider stock than just Maeryn's own. She knew she had a rather large family, but she drew strength from the knowledge that she was not alone in forming one.

Long ago, she had feared males. Now, she found herself speaking with great confidence to one. She did not fear him at all. Strange, how times changed things so. "Do you have certain hopes for that basket?" she inquired, indicating the dark one which he seemed to be watching with a particular care. "I would be pleased to meet your children." She took pride in seeing new life in the Kalona, in watching that first spark of understanding in a foal's eyes. She knew that they were special, all of them. And each had so much potential.

Tweekend

"I have heard tales of that sort of thing, I am not one who really believes in damaging of the body." He chuckled, wondering if she caught his drift. "Knowing that my children will be raised by my influence, I am sure they would get more mad at me for doing it. Though, I do agree that there are many experiences and ideals that should be formed by ones own mind. There is only so much I can preach or explain." He flicked his tail, and shifted his body so that his hair was not draping over the baskets. He didn't want them to get overheated because of his warm hair!

Ariston smiled as she spoke, suprised that she didn't lash him for his difference. "Heh, you are quite wise, Maeryn. I can't even speak of all of the knowledge you have given me.." His eyes drifted to Bane once more, who stood quietly and poised, half listening here and there. So well behaved, and not even complaining that his mother was speaking to another. Ariston had watched countless foals misbehave in front of their parents, though Maeryn's rather proved themselves constantly.

At her next question, he only sighed, nudging the other two as well. "I am just curious for it, because the other two seem to be so mixed with traits from both Heartless and I. That one though, seems to over-power in dark." He chuckled, feeling sort of eerie on the subject. "I don't presume that that makes something dark right away, but it does strike me as interesting."

He was happy that she accepted his invitation towards meeting his kin, and he only bowed to her pollitely. He awaited that day eagerly. He had something else to look forward too, now.

Miss Cherie

"When Nemesis was a foal, he was the most innocent and gentle of my children, and his coloring quite belies that. He was, and is the darkest in coloration. He has grown to be a fine Kalona, but has also proved to me that coloring does not in any way effect the personality of a child." All of her young ones had become quite the individuals, distinct from each other, and their parents. Little Bane seemed to worship his father, and Rötschreck had not discouraged him from following him about. It was good to know that she could depend upon him to be careful with their foals. It seemed that Ariston was one such stallion, one who would become a good father for his younglings, despite his own personal failings. He possessed his own strengths as well, and she wasn't worried about his capacity to teach his children the right of things.

Maeryn snorted. "I can imagine that one such as yourself would not hold for harm done to one's body. And I do not doubt that you will protect your own." What kind of father would Wrath be, for example, if he ever became one? Someone, she did not think he would be as his 'brother'. "You seem determined to raise your children with Kalona ideals. If that is so, then there are many you can turn to for assistance there. Anevay, while probably not the safest option, certainly knows a great deal about her kind." Also, she thought that Ruin would be willing to lend his own experiences. He was young enough still that he could remember what it had been like to be raised by his parents. Perhaps that sort of perspective would help.

"It is rather interesting. My foal, Hex, has turned out a different color than either Rötschreck or I. It is amazing what the blend of two Kalona can create. Although, from what I know of Heartless, that foal has inherited his or her mother's coloration." Now that was amusing. Rather like Bane, wasn't it? She raised an eyebrow, and watched as the child quietly watched the baskets, particularly the one that Ariston paid so much attention to. She was proud of her colt's behavior, proud that he waited while she spoke to another adult, and did not make a fuss. He was as quiet as Ruin had been opinionated, and had his own sort of strength. Also, he seemed possessed of a similar innocence to the kind Nemesis had had, and that amused her. No other Soquili breed would have expected that of him.

Tweekend
As she spoke, he looked towards the baskets again. "Heh, it is silly for me to think such, though for all of the hours I have spent here watching, I guess I am crazy in my random thoughts." He chuckled, though was impressed in her story. It lightened him up a bit, and he remembered that Heartless herself was quite dark, and that never intemidated him. She wasn't nearly as evil as some others were.

Anevay was one he would probably have his children avoid at all costs! Seeing as how she reacted to Guilian and his children, Ariston could only gulp in the thought. He was unaware of Maeryns relation to her, so instead he just nodded pollitely, as if taking in information.

"Yes I have seen Hex," Ariston said, now back on track with thinking. "His coloring is quite amazing, it definitely makes me rethink my initial thoughts.." He sighed once more, feeling exhausted suddenly. The night was growing deeper, and he longed for Heartless' to return. Though, he figured she was probably very close to near, but probably only watching because of Maeryn's appearance. "Watching you and your children will and has helped me so much.." He nudged the baskets once more before looking back towards Maeryn.

Miss Cherie

"I'm sure you will discover the truth of your foal before too long." When the foal left his or her basket, he or she would prove him or herself to be one way or the other. Or perhaps, different from anything that he imagined. "I must be going now. I need to find Bane some food, and Hex as well. It has been a pleasure to converse with you, Ariston. I hope that you will do everything you have said for your children." He would be doing them a disservice, otherwise. They had as much right to their heritage as Kalona as her own foals did. Inclining her head once more, she nudged Bane away from the baskets, and guided him back in the direction of the lands that she shared with Rot. She wished the young stallion well, and hoped that he, too, would fulfill his potential as a Kalona. If not, as least he had the best wishes for his young. With a final glance back, over her shoulder, Maeryn disappeared into the underbrush, with the little colt in tow.
