"What IS it with you and candy?" Odilen asked, coming up behind Quin. She was riding her chocobo Kez, with the tiny BoCo cradled in one arm. Kez flared his crest and took a few more steps before fluffing his feathers and sitting down. "Oh, you're lazy," Odilen frowned, but scratched behind his crest anyway.

Ourania laughed behind her hand at Quinn's obsession with sweet treats. She stretched her legs, sick of walking but without transportation at the moment and unwilling to complain. At least those with beasts to pull them hadn't forced the pace above a brisk walk. "Don't ask, Odilen. Quinny's always been rather... focused."

She glanced around, remembering the last time she had come through Durem with a Crystal Elysian in tow. She smiled at Fiore, wondering if she recalled as well. "Where would we look for the gentry? I've only been in Durem to walk through it."

Odilen snorted as she slid off of Kez's back, absently setting BoCo atop her head and tucking him slightly into her headscarf so he wouldn't fall. "Anywhere you see big buildings that aren't shops, pretty much. Durem's packed with the idle rich. Does... does that have multiple faces?!" she said, suddenly, catching sight of Fiore.

"Big buildings, hmm?!" said Kanashimii. She had appeared, standing on the roof of the candy store. Its building not being very high, it had been easy for her to climb on top of it. She moved her hand up above her forehead, to hide her blue eyes from the sun and looked further away. She could not see so many buildings, but a few sure looked very big and did not have any big shop signs just like many others. "Is there usually a few all together?" she asked, looking down at Odilen. "Because there are a few if we head north." she added.

Kana then looked over at Quinny. "I suggest you go get your candies right away. Once you're done we can leave and search around for the sign on the letter." she said with a small smile.

Quinn beamed, digging through her pockets for money. She then dashed into the shop and returned a few moments later, laden with bags of sweet treats, a peppermint stick hanging from between her smiling lips.

Opening one of the saddlebags on Therin, Quinn placed most of her candy within, the bag now bulging. The rest she placed in her belt pouch.

"So," she said, slurping away happily, "Now what? Maybe we need to take a closer look at this crest thingur... you know, really explain it and get it all set in our minds so its easer to locate..."

((Focused, am I? XD))

[prompt]

The insignia itself denoted that the noble house was definately from Durem, however upon asking the people they would chuckle and shake their heads in mild amusement as though it were a joke. On occasions, they would point out that said house had crumbled long ago and yet each time they would indicate that it lurked within the North East area of Durem where the rogues and vagabonds were said to make their homes.

No wonder it had fallen to ruins (or so they said) for it was surrounded by Ruffians but the benefits of heading in that direction would be innumerable for there were a multitude of taverns to inquire within and even the occasional gossiper (whether they be flower maiden or someone slightly more disapproving) would be able to help them...

//Note I will finish this bit off to round off the sequence of events in Durem - it'll be neater.

"If we look around by ourselves, it'll take forever," Odilen said, with a small sigh. "Durem's full of nobles or would-be nobles and things like that, and all of 'em plaster their crests on everything from their houses to their toilets... we'll be looking at stuff all week if we do it alone. Maybe we can ask around?"

Quinn nodded at the diminuitive story teller. "I agree. Asking around will be beneficial. I think we should probably check in the taverns and inns. The keepers usually know all about the goings on of everyone in the city. What does everyone else think?"

((I'm hoping to keep the current team together. I really think we meld well. Please post if you would like to do this and I'll send in the application!))

Ourania nodded. "The locals don't seem to want to help, but I'm sure for a price a tavern owner would. Does anyone have any spare change on them?"

Basape offered the remains of Quinn's lollypop to the pale summoner, while Fiore extended one of the blades she held. Ourania laughed, smiling amiably. "Thanks you two, but I don't think a tavern-keeper would be interested in a sticky piece of candy and a pixie-sized sword."

((*Glomps onto everyone* My group. heart Sorry I didn't answer your question, Sosi, I just read back and realized it was there. sweatdrop ))

Popping her lolly back into her mouth, Quinn dug through Therin's saddlebags, dumping the contents on the ground before finally producing a small, but bulging coin purse. "Emergency candy money," she said, blushing slightly.

"Always a tried-and-true way of getting information," Odilen agreed. "I get some of my best stories out of drunks in bars.... just have to hit the right blend between loosening the tongue and unhinging the brain." She raised one eyebrow.

The cafe was much the same as she remembered it, still ancient and tiny in comparison to the surrounding structures. The summoner sat indoors, carefully sipping hot liquid from a tea-cup and breaking the blackberry scone into sizable chunks for the excited moomba that waited attentively at her elbow. Fiore floated serenely above the chair, accepting the pieces that Basape offered to her with a gracious smile.

There were clouds threatening overhead but the summoner was unconcerned, much too pleased with the way her day was going to take much note of the weather. "This is nice..." she murmured to the Elysian and her familiar. "We should do this more often..." Even though it was only because she was waiting for the rest of her group members to arrive that she was here at all. She wondered what was taking them so long.

Fiore nodded in agreement, uncrossing and re-crossing her legs while she nibbled daintily on a piece of scone. She watched the people walking, her eyes interested in their everyday chatter and actions.

A man with a crooked smile walked into the cafe, wearing a woolen long coat, died blue, and a simple red baseball cap pulled low over his eyes. The coat was buttoned tightly down the front, his hands covered in simple black gloves. Perhaps he had bundled up against the threatening sky, with those rather thick looking wool pants, and almost thuggish boots.

He sat down, taking a seat near the summoner, positioning himself to watch the Elysian and company. Slowly he drew a book out of his pocket, opening it up to a mark about three fourths through. However, his eyes seemed to keep glancing up, towards the elysian, rather than down at his book.
