'Oh,' she said. The cat did look really weird. But maybe it made it a better cat? It certainly ran fast. She got to her feet as Sabin picked the cat up, and held a hand out to it. 'Neko..' she trilled at it, reaching to stroke the generously limbed feline. 'This,' she looked at the cat. 'You do to me?' Well, she had to ask. And it wasnt as if she was fearful, or weeping as she asked. Oddly she was taking the cat's appearance better then the news of being stuck on the Island.

Sabin smiled as a rumbling purr began in the black 'cat''s chest at the attention, the fish forgotten, for the moment.
Sabin paused at the question, his expression serious for a moment. "Not... this per se... but something, yes. But, I have seen to it that yours will not be as... difficult... as many other Islanders are faced with."

Sayuri smiled, tickling the cat under its chin, enjoying the soft feel of its black fur. 'Pretty neko,' she said quietly, listening to Sabin's words with an attentive ear so that she could translate them as best as her english skills were able. 'Sabin-san is good to Sayuri,' she touched him on the arm once more, growing more comfortable with making tactile gestures towards him. It wasnt that she wasnt afraid of changing like the others; far from it. But to show her fear had made him angry, and that she feared more then anything.

Sayuri's observation skills did not go unrewarded. In fact, Sayuri's calm and almost optimistic response to the confirmation that she would change as well brought a strange smile to the doctor's lips.
"I will see to it to do my best." Sabin affirmed, scritching Beastie as well, who seemed thoroughly pleased to be getting the simultaneous attention from two separate people.
"And if Sayuri-san has need of anything... she need but ask." Sabin met her eyes and held them. A small smile played at the corners of his mouth as he lifted the hand away from Beastie and to the bottom of her chin, touching her very gently. "She will be my Ningyo."
Sabin was very proud that he managed this play on words - in Japanese no less. His anthropological studies on mythical creatures and beings were certainly not limited only to Western society, in fact the ones that spanned cultures - and the various names and intrepretations were fascinating. From research, Sabin knew that while Ningyo meant "mermaid", it also yielded many false positive results with a certain type of fancy Japanese doll - often dressed immaculately as miniature, finely-crafted geisha dolls.

Sayuri giggled at that, then tugged gently on Sabin's sleeve. 'I am Sabin's doll?' she asked with a smile. It was that she had not noticed their great difference in size, he had an easy 8 or so inches on her. Twice now she had been called doll. It was an okay, it seemed to have been said not in a mean way either time. She tickled Beastie again, pleased that the cat was happy. 'I want make Sabin happy, like I make neko happy.' she said, her eye flicking from the cat up to Sabin again.

Sabin gave a light chuckle as well. "Oui... I suppose that that is apt, yes?"
He paused again, the smile lingering as he watched her scritch Beastie - who was certainly not complaining. "I am sure... that you will have the opportunity. All in due time, however." He said gently.

'Does Sabin-san like Sayuri?' she asked, her eyes fixed on the cat while she asked that question. It was a pretty bold thing to ask, but she was worried he didnt. Even though he seemed about as relaxed as she'd seen him since arriving here. Unless that was just because he really liked his cat.

Sabin was well aware that 'like' could have some very complicated connotations to the Japanese... however, he could at the very least take the question at face value from a Western point of view. Sabin, long before learning and enjoying weaving complicated lies on the island, was a frequent abuser of technicalities.
"I do. Sayuri is a kind girl, who seems genuinely interested in seeing me happy, just as he would like to see Sayuri happy." He responded.
The cat's eyes wandered up to the splash of small flowers that adorned Sayuri's hair, pupils dialating as they followed the small movements. His tail twitched and one of his forepaws stretched towards it, only to fall quite short.
Then a tentacle lashed out. And with a playful murr, it wrapped around the bobbing 'toy'.

Well that was something. A small thing at least. For now she didnt need to worry so much about the disgrace of being unwanted by her Danna. She smiled at the outreached paws of the cat, wondering what it was trying its best to reach. The answer was quickly given when one of the tentacles whipped out and caught her flowered hair ornament. She tried to look up and then moved her head, the pin sliding from her hair; the cat had gotten its toy. 'Bad Neko,' she scolded softly, then laughed. Her hands went up to check her hair, she could feel loosened strands as the hair wax was slowly drying out. Tonight it would have to be taken down and washed. She would have asked Sabin if there was a hairdressing place on the Island, but he was her Danna and she could not discuss that with him. She was meant to present herself perfectly, talking about the process wasnt really done.

"Beastie!" Sabin scolded again, but there was not much malice to his tone. And Beastie seemed to disregard the admonishment, instead dangling the ornament above its head and playing with it with its paws.
Sabin sighed heavily, and tried to extricate the flowers from its grasp... but as he pulled, and the cat held tighter, he only managed to do damage to the hairpin. Sighing in defeat, he put the cat on the ground.
"I... apologize... he is not very well behaved." Sabin mock-glared at the feline as he was entertaining himself with what was left of the hair ornament.
With a shake of his head, he looked back to Sayuri, a faint smile at the ever-so-slightly disheveled look to her normally immaculate hair.

Sayuri watched as Sabin wrestled with the cat, trying to tug the ornament away. But it only succeeded in shredding the flowers, petals falling like confetti to the floor. 'Oh,' she said, her voice small. It wasnt a big thing, just a little hair ornament but it was the only white floral one she had and she didnt know if she could buy such things on the Island. 'It is okay,' she said as she dropped her hands. She couldnt fiddle with her hair anymore, it would only make it untidier. She wondered now what was to happen. It felt like the evening was drawing to some sort of conclusion, but she wasnt sure she wanted to leave. But she knew that if he didnt want her with him that night then she would have to leave, and wait to be called again.

"I will see to it to finding you another one." He said apologetically. "Pets... can be destructive sometimes... but you can't help but love them."
It was true of many things. And 'pet' was a rather encompassing term for Sabin on this island.
There was the ever-damning awkward silence. They had eaten and drinken, she had performed, and they had chit-chatted for a while... but Sabin was not looking for her company through the night.
"It was a pleasure to have been able to spend more time with you... get to know you in a more private setting." Sabin finally spoke. "And I hope that the rest of the evening will find you well, and give you the chance to relax."

'It is okay,' she said, in regards to the hair ornament, although she would be very pleased if he did buy her a replacement. 'Danna-san wish me to go?' Sayuri asked. She was both a little pleased and disappointed. But it was probably best. That way she could sort out her hair for the next time. And try to digest all that he had told her. 'It has been a most good time,' and she bowed low, wondering if he would say goodbye to her in a more forward manner.

"It has been a long day, and while this night has certainly been a pleasant conclusion, I must rest for the day ahead." He replied tactfully.
"I am glad that you enjoyed yourself, Sayuri." He bowed as well. "Allow me to escort you to the lobby, and I will have a jeep take you back.

Sayuri stepped forward, towards Sabin. She rested first her hands on him, and then leaned carefully against him, not a hug, she wasnt quite ready for that, but she wanted to be brave in some way. Her eyes closed for a moment as she rested her face against him for the briefest of moments. 'Sankyuu,' she whispered, then stepped away, ready to be escorted back to her Duplex.
