((I'll leach off of Dem's idea as neutral, and counter his character. wink ))
Username: accidental_inspiration Character Name: Victor Sylvan (goes by Syl) Good/bad: Neutral. Too carefree (or is it careless?) to be on either side.
Special powers: Divination
Background: Who cares? Syl doesn't!
Personality: Syl is perpetually happy, sometimes frustratingly so. Very little dampens his spirit. Many times he has seen nearly certain death, and never has he lost his smile or become resigned. Some people get angry when things seem dark, and Syl is still smiling and being cheerful, and he doesn't heed their dark looks.
Syl is fairly...chaotic. He does things randomly; he will arbitrarily change his mind. The only REAL constant is his happiness. Everything else changes seemingly randomly. While he is chaotic, Syl is quite friendly and even compassionate. He cares for others, heals wounds when he can. He is often seen mingling with everyone, and having a grand time of it.
For no thoroughly explained reason, Syl lies. About anything really. He can tell the most fantastic stories (he has this great one about a wooly mammoth), and none of them are true, yet he passes them off as truth. This is often the cause of many a barroom laugh, but it is also quite frustrating to try and get information out of him, for he will sometimes just make up new information as he goes along.
Syl has no conception of the idea of 'Modesty'. He does not understand it himself, or understand that other people have it. He will oftentimes bathe naked in a river, regardless if there are females present. Sometimes he will even stumble upon a someone bathing his- or herself, and quickly join them in her bath, glad for the company, although completely incognizant of the fact that they are both lacking in clothing, or that they are in a less than appropriate situation.
Other: Couple of daggers that are heirlooms... from another family... which he stole from.

Avatre lowered her voice and glanced at Archaedus.
"Let me take a look." Her eyes went silver and she slipped into the shadows.. and was gone before he could say no. She emerged on the other side of the door, and once again in the rain.
Well I dont have Soren.. so I must be careful. Question is now.. where do I begin.. and what am I looking for..

(i'm changing tenses)
Nevaria saw the man she'd been tracking. She reached for her dagger, ready to attack...
"He knows you're here"
She was tired and didn't feel like any type of fighting, so she let out a quiet sigh. She's have to shift into some type of insect... but first she needed rest. She changed back into a pheonix, and found a branch. A short sleep wouldn't hurt- she could track him later... yet she couldn't help but shake the feeling that something wasn't right. How could he know she was there?

Star drew her swords as she stood guard for the castle. She looked around for a sign of an intruder. She thought about what was going on and twirled her swords. It was a habit. She moved her leg to make sure that her dagger was still in it's holder, good to be prepared. It was there, the rain pounded down. ((It is raining, right?))

Avatre gracefully stepped through the rain, eyes still silver trained upon a figure. Though her mind recognized it as the friend that had helped Archaedus earlier on. She must be keeping guard, I shall let her know of my presence so no misunderstandings occur.
Avatre allowed her steps to fall heavy to be heard by the girl, sensing her muscles tense. She most likely has her hands upon arms. Hopefully I don't startle her...Avatre prepared her mind and began to speak through the rain at the ghostly silhouette . I must be wary for she may startle at my voice.
"Friend. My name is Avatre, let my presence be known. I have come out from the place to search for an intruder. I'm positive it is not you, but if you wish to assist me, please all help is welcomed. Though I must warn you, be wary of things you may see and experience within my presence.."

Star sent her response straight from her mind, it was a habit. I'm at your service. What do you need for me to do?

Demetrius waited, glancing sidelong for the one who was pursuing him. No one emerged into the clearing after a long while and very slowly he began to relax a little. Just a little, mind you, his senses were still on high alert but he allowed the tip of his sword to dip slightly. Dragging gloved fingers over his forehead to once again remove dripping strands of hair from his eyes, he turned slowly to face the castle once more.
The space in front of the doorway which had been empty was now occupied by two bodies. One had swords drawn but they didn't appear to be enemies, as they were not advancing towards each other or circling in the way opponents often do. Unless they were at a standstill...but somehow he doubted that. The sense of magic was stronger in one of them as well. Glancing back once more, he determined that his pursuer had likely given up for the moment and straightened, slowly sheathing his sword. He would remain alert but assume the danger, for the most part, had past.
Now it was really time to get out of this damnable rain. Figuring if he did not appear threatening the two before the castle would have no reason to attack him, he slowly emerged from behind the tree and came towards them. Gloved hands were outstretched, meaning he meant no harm and well away from his sword. Hopefully that would indicate he was peaceful at least for now.
"Greetings, strangers. I wonder if perhaps I could find some shelter from the rain in this interesting structure of yours?" His voice was rather soft, though loud enough to be heard, smooth and deep. He walked with a rather graceful stride as he came forward, pausing a few feet away from the two and keeping his hands outstretched. His scar sometimes alarmed people but hopefully his non threatening stance would keep him out of trouble for now.

Looking straight into her new friends eyes, Avatre kept the mind connection and answered back. "Just be rea-"
Her mind cut of, there was a distinct sound of a sword and sheath, then a voice. Avatre reacted in a split second, hand straight into her cloak and her fingers wrapped around the blade of one of the throwing daggers. She drew back and her silver eyes flashed to her target who was emerging from the woods, but she resisted the urge to throw. Something wasn't right, his hands were outstretched and he was calling forth to them revealing himself.
Avatre relaxed a little, but kept her fingers tight around the blade. She straightened her back, silver eyes staring straight into the strangers; her voice rang out clear and strong as she felt her power course through her veins, preparing for everything that could go wrong.
"Stranger come forth and tell me your name. Tell me your purpose of being in thy woods.. and maybe, I shall grant you shelter and a name."
She hoped her bluff would work, for she knew only the bear could allow strangers in. Though this could be a way for him to prove himself worthy, she thought to herself; afterall he can see the place.

Perhaps this wouldn't work as well as he'd hoped, given that about as soon as he spoke one of them reached into her cloak. He tensed and though his instinct was to reach for his sword, he suppressed it with an effort. That would nod help his cause, not in the least and he was confident that he had quick enough reflexes to dodge if that knife was actually thrown. He kept his eyes on it and it's wielder, calm, piercing crystal blues eyes and waited where he stood.
Well, perhaps she had some sense after all as she didn't throw at him. He met her silver gaze with his clear blue one calmly, though as she straightened he could feel the magic practically emanating off her in waves. Something to consider, most definitely. To be wary of. This one was quite powerful. She spoke to him and he nodded. Fair enough and he never had a problem revealing his name. Lowering his hands a little though still keeping them away from his sword, he trudged through the wet grass to stand before her, though not too close. She could see him very clearly however as he spoke.
"My name is Demetrius." He gave a slight, courtly bow at this introduction then straightened once more. "My only purpose in these woods was to take shelter from the rain...but that did not work out as well as I'd hoped." The words may have seemed like they should be humourous but his tone and expression didn't change. Finished, he stood awaiting his judgement. Hopefully, that was good enough for her.

Star faced the new stranger. She decided to stay quiet and started to try to hide most of her own magic sense. She also knew that Avatre was extreamly powerful and was happy they weren't enemies.

His words were honest, and she knew due to the unwavering steadiness in his eyes. He kept eye contact with Avatre, and she did not look away, studying him, in a way. She grew familiar with his face, though minded not his scar, she saw straight past that into his eyes. Clear, strong, and intelligent blue eyes. He knew what he was doing, but still waited for approval.
Avatre closed her eyes slowly, then opened them revealing that her eyes now are a fading silver, turning into a slight moss green gradually getting darker and more prominate.
"My Name is Avatre," motioning to Star," and this is a friend, Star. We have more companions inside, though things have been a little out of control. We have the presence of a hunter in our sacred Place, and he somehow slipped through our defenses. If you are granted access, you may come in, though good sir, I cannot guarantee you much rest until this issue is taken care of. I'm not asking for assistance, just informing you of the circumstances."
She released her dagger, though held her shadow at her fingertips just in case, and extended a hand forth to the stranger known as Demetrius.

Star relaxed her grip on her weapons as she gave a nod as her own introduction. She averted an eye to Avatre. "So, what's the plan?" She still kept one eye on this stranger, mostly to see his reaction to the situation.

Just because he kept eye contact unwaveringly did not mean he was telling the truth. He could pull it off, if he was a very good liar. He wasn't lying at the moment, however, so it was a non issue. He remained silent as she held his gaze and seemed to study him and he did the same, memorising the face and the composure. It was a habit, studying those around him as though sizing up an opponent, though there was no menace or aggressiveness in his eyes at the moment. One could never be too careful, however, so he'd adopted it as a habit.
There was no visible reaction from him as she closed her eyes then opened them again to reveal the slow change in colour, but the fact was duly noted. Yes, she was quite powerful and he would not be quick to forget that.
He nodded at her introduction and glanced to the other when she was introduced, nodding slightly as well. Avatre and Star. More things to be remembered and he filed them away in the back of his mind. His gaze returned to Avatre as she continued, listening and taking stock of the situation. Slowly an eyebrow rose. So she did not have the power to grant him access, as she'd claimed before. Something else to take note of. When she was finished, he nodded. "A place to stay out of the rain is all I'm looking for and whether it is restful or not matters little to me. I am certain it will do."
She extended her hand and his gloved one rose to meet hers, accepting it in a firm handshake then letting go once more. "I noticed that you mentioned 'if I am granted access' though before you claimed to be able to provide me with shelter. Apparently there wasn't much truth to that claim." The words were not spiteful, in fact they were said in exactly the same tone as the rest of his words but it was clear evidence that he did not miss much. He wasn't showing off, just informing. Perhaps she had been trying to intimidate him in case he was an enemy, which certainly seemed to be the case and that was fine. He still was letting it be known that not much was forgotten by him.
Star spoke and he kept his gaze on Avatre, clearly the leader, and merely waited for her response to both of their comments, patiently crossing his arms over his chest. Hopefully he would get out of the rain soon...

For more of the sake to make Demitrius shut up, she moved the rain apart from the place he was standing. (Star was like that sometimes.) She returned half her gaze to Avatre.

A small smirk passed over Avatre's lips at Demitrius' comment and she let her hands fall to her sides.
"Though I do not grant full access to this place, I lay a part in it. To enter, you must be granted in by the bear, whom only lets those in with a true spirit. Being honest with me, and earning a sort of respect from me helps your case. In all honesty though, misleading you was not of my intentions."
She moved slowly pivoting on her heel making it know she was showing Demitrius to the door. Spreading an arm towards the great bear knocker she stared back into his eyes.
"Come forth, and seek your trial."
