One kid at the middle school, an 8th grader this year and a year younger than me, is the only open homosexual or bisexual person in the school district. Everyone else is faking or hiding their sexuality. I live in what has to be the most homophobic area for miles, as the aforementioned kid isn't openly homosexual by choice...let me explain in a bit more detail:
After figuring out his sexuality, he made the mistake of telling a male friend who was homophobic. More than breaking up their friendship, his friend told the entire school. He's harassed very often, occasionally attacked and beaten by groups of homophobes. It's incredibly sad, and it's eliminated any chance I've had of finding other bisexual/homosexual males in the area, because now everyone is afraid to admit their sexuality. sad

I'm bi and have a gf *is actually a girl...for those of you that don't know...just like the boy avatars better <.<;* and I'm terribly afraid to tell my parents or anyone in my family for that matter. The only person that knows is my best friend. Heh. When I bring up some subject that has homosexuality in it, my parents always say something to the effect of "that's so wrongs" or "that's disgusting" or something similar.
I've walked around the mall holding my girl's hand and have kissed her goodbye at the airport and such...and just gotten interesting looks from the people around...we've actually disracted someone so much that they almost ran into a wall XD it was rather amusing.

Covenothestars is right. I'm not about to tell my dad I'm Bisexual. He's a homophob stare but my mom knows that I'm curious about both sexs so she kinda knows. And my sister knows seeing as she knew I used to like my best friend xp i got over that reall quickly.

I live in California, in a county called "Shasta." It's got a lot of bigots, it's not safe to be homosexual or bisexual here. (I'm bisexual.)

Here in hawaii, gays are not really taken that seriously. Maybe at other schools but not mine. I know there are people that just downright hate gays. (like my "friend" that is in denial about me. She either thinks I'm kidding or she is tuning out what she doesn't want to hear.) Those people usually keep their mouth shut.
