Well, some people, no matter how much enlightenment was shown to them, remained turnips. Kayce seemed to be one of theses cases, it was almost pitiable, the girls inability to see the obvious. Perhaps she was touched in the mind of some way. How rather sad... "If you are wanting to believe that, then let us hope you aren't proven wrong." Seeing that as settled in her mind, she took to thought what Nereida had said.
Taking a softer tone, Dierdre nodded in assent to Kayce's words. "Aye monsters be that of fear, you'll not be categerized as one of them Nereida." She plucked her stick out from between the logs and began trailing it through the water, skimming the surface.
The yellow fae near the water's edge was getting smaller, but she could hear her from the raft. It wasn't so much a fight then a good row, sadly, Dieredre didn't know that she'd been working with the mentally challenged.

Nereida halted the raft in the deep water near the rocky rear of the cove. Turning to the other girls, she stated, "I'm gonna lure it out and then we're gonna fight it. Don't get in the water 'till you have to. I'm not worried about getting dragged under, but you guys can't breathe down there." With that, she hopped off the raft, landed in the water with a slight splash, and faced them one last time. "If I'm not back in ten minutes, go get the grownups."
And then she slid below the surface and vanished except for the occasional ripple.

There were many things that Kayce could have said in reply to Dierdre, but all of that would simply continue the discussion that the dark-haired fae was getting quite bored of. Dierdre was obviously not very creative (nor sensible), which meant that Kayce would bore of her quickly. Useless creature.
Nodding her understanding at Nereida, Kayce watched as she disappeared over the side of the raft. Of course Nereida would go first. She was the swimmer, after all, and she knew the waters best. Kayce would simply wait her turn to get a peek at the monster, getting a better grip on her stick all the while. She leaned a bit over the edge, gazing into the sea. It didn't look too dangerous, but she was not about to take any unnecessary chances. She did not fancy drowning. It sounded like a miserable way to spend the day.

Dierdre was grateful when Kayce didn't reply. Finally, the girl would be quiet and let it alone. For a challenged person, she made a lot out of a little. She'd have to make note for the future to NOT be around this girl, it would only end in frustration of her stupidity.
She watched as Nereida lept into the water with such ease. Even a creature such as herself, Dierdre could envy the fluid like ease Nereida had with the water. She looked down into it's dark abyss and thought of the best way to go about taking down a sea monster. Aim for the eyes, she thought to herself.

Nereida swam breast-stroke style through the water, diving deeper and peering out into the blue-green waters of the cove. She was in her element here beneath the waves, but so was the monster. She scanned the cove walls for the cave and finally spotted it. After flexing her webbed fingers and toes and taking a deep, calming breath through her gills, she dove down towards it.

Kayce, still patiently awaiting Nereida's return, poked lightly at the water's surface with her stick. The ripples it made were fascinating, especially in how quickly they disappeared in the waves. The sea was something she had never previously encountered, and much as she wanted to pitch the tall fae overboard, she was rather enjoying this new environment. No walls at all, no boundaries, no confinements... it was an outdoor child's dream.
Just a tad concerned at how long their fae had been gone for, Amyla sat up on her towel and glanced in the direction in which the girls had disappeared. "Is it just me, or have they been gone an awfully long time?" she asked, frowning a bit.

Silverah sat up and looked over at Amyla. "No, not really. They could be at their pirate game for hours. Nereida always gets really into it."
Nereida swam into the cave and looked around, her eyes adjusting to the watery half dark. Where are you, she thought to nothing in particular.
Something blocked off the light coming in the cave's mouth and Nereida spun around, a mouthful of bubbles escaping in the process. In the entrance of the cave floated a lazy-looking creature with a bulbous head and eight gently twisting tentacles. There you are, thought Nereida, unable to stop herself from grinning as she built up speed and swam towards the beast for a tackle.
Her shoulder connected with the beast's midsection at startling speed and they were both sent spinning out into the cove. She landed a kick to what she supposed was its head and then reacted with disgust when it wrapped a tentacle around her arm. Frantically, she swam for the surface, not caring that the creature was along for the ride.
Finally, she broke the surface of the water. "Over here!" she called to the girls on the raft. "It's on my arm!"

Ronnie gazed off into the distance, she too was mildly worried, but there wasn't much she could really do. She knew by experience that Dierdre had a good set of lungs on her. If it got too bad, they'd probably here her scream. "Well... hopefully you're right." She said to Silverah.
Dierdre glanced over as Nereida burst from the surface. It was time to fight, and despite her queasy wonderings, she found herself excited to do it. Stowing her stick through the back straps of her swim suit, she gracefully swan dove into the water and took off at a demon's speed toward the girl and the monster.
She could see it, with it's tentacles grasping tightly to Nereida's arm. Fluidly she reached back and drew her stick from it's make shift sheath. It kept moving and as Nereida moved, it moved. This made it extremely hard to pull a strike, because she didn't want to stab Nereida on accident.
Manuvering around the girl and the monster, she began to look for it's eyes. They were there somewhere, and when she found them... there would be much pokeage.

Amyla looked more than a little wary but forced herself to relax. "Well, I think this is the longest time Kayce has ever spent with another living being."
Kayce, already at the edge of the raft, stuck her stick between her powerful jaws and launched herself off the side of the raft. It wasn't graceful, but it was coordinated enough that she only sank a foot or so into the water before surfacing and swimming in Nereida's direction.
The sea monster was quite fascinating, and while she was in the process of swimming toward the green-skinned fae, she took the opportunity to examine the clinging beast. It was rather ugly, but it seemed like a worthy enough opponent. Moving to tread water with one hand and both legs, she took her stick from her mouth and proceeded to prod at the beast's head, trying not to hit Nereida and avoid the waving tentacles. She was not well-versed in what the tentacles were capable of, but since it did have eight of them, she didn't fancy getting caught by one as it had seven others to spare (six, if she didn't include the one that seemed to be wrapped around Nereida's arm) whilst she only had one.

A cold shock ran down Nereida's spine as she realized she'd forgotten her stick. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. She struggled to land another hard kick on the thing's head. She connected solidly and it let go of her in surprise, glancing around with a pair of bulbous eyes.

Dierdre weaved this way and that around Nereida and the monster. Those who seeked out oppertunity would find such. And hers came when the water fae kicked off the creature. She saw them, they were disgusting and very un pretty. Large eyes on the side of its head.
Screwing up her face into a grimace she lunged forward propelling herself through the water and jabbed her stick into one of the eyes. The creature shook in anger and its tentacles wrapped around the stick and yanked it hard. Dierdre nearly let go of the stick but held tight. The other tentacles snaked around and one latched onto her wrist.
She let out a rather high pitched scream under the water and tried to wrestle her appandage back from the beast.

Nereida whirled around and stared at Dierdre and the monster, noting the large air bubbles rising from the other fae's mouth. She couldn't have much air left after that. Thinking quickly, she swam at the beast for another tackle in hopes of making it release Dierdre.
"When you get away," she stated, her words slightly mutated by the water, "Get to the surface and get air. Don't wait."

Kayce spied a tentacle sneaking up around Dierdre's risk, and she had barely enough time to acknowledge it before a faint burbling sound came up at her through the water. It seemed the tall fae had gotten herself into trouble. Splendid.
Dipping her head underwater to see a bit more clearly, she poked out with her stick again, trying to get it into one of the beasts' eyes. She spied Nereida underwater and waved a hand to try to get her attention. Sharp rock... sharp shell... something sharp! She needed something sharp!

Nereida spotted Kayce motioning for her and tried to decipher the hand motions. Rock rock stabby stabby? Okay, then. She gave the creature a good parting kick and shot down the six feet towards the bottom of the cove. After scraping around in the sand, she found a large, jagged shark's tooth about four inches long.
Perfect, she thought with a grin, shooting back towards the surface to give it to Kayce.

Her lungs were beginning to feel the burn, and she repeatedly kicked the monster in its head. She would NOT go down like this. As the creature had ultimatly traded her arm for the stick, she switched it to her free hand and began thwapping the monster about the head with it.
There were too many clothes she hadn't tried on, too many pretty things she didn't own, these fueled her to struggle even fiercer. This was, by far, the grossest thing she'd ever had on her, and that included one of Veronica's old sleep shirts.
If she got out of this, the first thing she'd do when she got home was burn this swimsuit.
