Kagome huffed at his comment, "Well, I don't think you'll have the chance because I predict at least one daughter."
Rolling her eyes, she didn't even bother responding to his comment about pocky. Men. Who can follow their logic?
She perked up at the sight of the box. Pouting when her fingers barely skimmed its surface, she tried harder to reach it. "Because you want to?" she chirped with her eyes following the box. "And that you know I'll be flailing around like a turtle if I fall over while trying to get it?"

"And I believe that your prediction is wrong." He eyed her seriously for a moment but all seriousness was gone at the last thing she said. The image of the young priestess falling over onto her back and struggling to get up as she rolled back and forth nearly made Sesshomaru drop her the package her silver necklace was in. He hardly ever laughed or smiled but that image he found highly amusing and he let out a soft growl or his own form of a 'laugh'.
"Now that you say that, I want to push you over just to watch you..." He stared down at it and then shoved it awkwardly into her hands, not used to giving presents. "Fine, you may open if you wish...."

She smiled at the challenge and tilted her chin up defiantly, "How much do you wanna bet?"
Her eyes narrowed, "You wouldn't dare," she threatened.
Her threat was abruptly cut short when the box was shoved into her hands. "Eh? What is it?" she asked, her tail waving eagerly behind her.
She opened the small box and lifted a shining silver necklace. Her lips parted in shock by its pure beauty and she looked at him bewilderedly. "Is this...for me...?" she asked in disbelief.

He eyed her defiant look for a moment and raised a brow at her.
"A bet? Such a childish practice but I know for sure I'm right so why not? If you give birth to three sons, you must tell me why you ran away that day." He said.
He watched her opening her present and when she looked at him and asked her question, he rolled his eyes.
"I wouldn't have given to you if it wasn-" He paused and nodded slowly as he tried again in a less annoyed, relaxed voice. "Yes, it is for you. Do you like it?"

Damn.
"Fine. And if I'm right, then..."
Kagome racked her brain for a proper retribution. "You'll stop trying to kill my friends."
Mentally in her mind, she calculated the probability of his prediction. ... 1 out of 8? She felt confident of her victory.
Her eyes returned to the necklace, "It's... beautiful~" The cool silver chain was turned this way and that way as she peered at it. "But... why?"

"Not kill your-" He narrowed his eyes at her and then sighed. "Fine... it's decided" He couldn't believe he was actually betting with her. It was unnecessary because he was confident anyways. His father had had two boys in a row and he was sure it would be possible for him to have three sons. "I'll look forward to hearing your explanation."
He stared at the necklace as she held it and then looked at her intently for moment. He was satisfied she liked it but again, with the questions. Women....
"Perhaps I thought it would be--Am I not allowed to give you gifts?" He answered her question with a question, avoiding answering her question.

Kagome ignored his comment although she mentally flailed around at the possibility of finally having to say why.
Her brow creased, "But it's so.... unlike you." The chain with the intricate pendant pooled into her palm, "And it looks so expensive... Even too expensive for me to accept..."

Sesshomaru stared at her expression and then frowned at her.
"No," He paused and returned to looking at the necklace. "It's not expensive miko. I've held onto that for far too long and you're the mother of my pups. It makes sense to give you a gift." At least, it did in his mind. The last thing she said made him growl lightly. Not accept his gift? "If you don't want it, I'll just take it back" He held out his hand for it and stared at her mildly curious what she would choose.

Her mouth made an "O" in understanding. She tilted her head, "What do you mean "for far too long" ? "
When he reached for the necklace, she turned quickly and shielded the gift away from him, "I want it!"
Moving under her curtain of hair, she fastened on the chain. "What do you think?" Kagome inquired.

Letting his hand drop back to his side at her reaction, Sesshomaru stepped back.
"It does not mean anything." He said, forming his thoughts and words carefully in his mind before he voiced them to her. "Just, I've carried it around since it was found along my travels and now I'm giving it to you. I obviously do not wear women's jewelry."
He watched her putting the necklace on and when she showed it to him now around her neck and asked about it, he stared at it silently for a moment and then looked her over with the new addition. "Nice; pretty...I guess..."
He picked up at the pocky box and began to rummage through it. "Now that I gave you that, I'm keeping this."

In the back of Kagome's mind, a small voice piped up, "The pink eyeliner suggested otherwise!"
She quickly squashed down the mental voice but she couldn't stop her lips from twitching in amusement.
Flashing him a bright smile, Kagome responded, "Thank you."
"But that doesn't seem very fair. A silver necklace that's probably worth more than I can imagine for a box of pocky?" Eying the box ruefully, she continued, "I can get you more the next time I go back... Unless you want the jumbo box with the really really big ones..."

(( >__< I was so bored during dinner, I made this >__< a messy family tree I made a bigger one with my funny/random notes... I'll show you after I finish up with it xD ))
Sesshomaru reached out towards the necklace and lifted it from her neck and fingered it between his claws carefully before letting it fall back in place. He nodded curtly at her when she thanked him
"It was nothing..." He mumbled, as he emptied out the pocky box and popped the last stick in his mouth but paused with the stick still hanging out of his mouth at her offer.
"The next time you go back? I almost forgot about that aspect of your life..." He paused and shook his head at her. "Miko, it matters not to me if you pay me back for the necklace or not. It is a gift and will remain as such in my mind but, I'll think about your offer. But it would probably just be easier..." He tossed the empty box aside but paused, as her words finally registered in his mind. "There are sticks larger then this?"
Shaking his head to clear his sudden desire for a giant pocky stick, he began to examine her stomach and, after a moment's hesitation, laid his hand on her stomach again. "Are they still moving?"

((Giant pocky sticks are fun~ I saw them at a supermarket once...
I wanna see the bigger version when you're done~))
"But it would be easier...?" Kagome prompted at his pause.
She giggled when he seemed to be stuck on the idea of giant pocky sticks. "Uh huh. They're about this big..." she demonstrated with her hands about a foot apart, "and I would say about a centimeter in diameter?"
When he reached out to touch her stomach, she was a bit surprised. But she simply placed her hand over his and smiled, "I think they've calmed down a little bit."

((I wish they had those around here @__x It's hard to find it as is anyways. I'm addicted to these little gummy candy things... I don't even know what they're called but they're amazing whee There are two bigger versions. One without my random stupid notes and one with them. xD This is the one I was talking about with my notes The product of randomness -- My handwriting is horrible xD You probably won't be able to read half of it >__< )) He watched her demonstrate the size of the pocky sticks and he raised a brow at her curiously as she began to giggle.
"Why haven't you brought it with you? Hiding something like that...you better not be teasing me girl..." He warned even though he would very much enjoy getting his hands on something like that. "Or I'll have to rethink keeping my word and have to push you over and watch the turtle struggle to get up."
He looked down at their hands and tensed the moment their hands touched. After a brief moment, he relaxed again slightly. He hadn't expected her to do that and he remained silent, glad for it. He was comfortable with silence anyway. His dominant side coming out, he slipped his hand out from under hers and placed it atop hers.
"I cannot believe I'm doing this..." He mumbled under his breath. Raising his voice, he lifted his eyes from their hands. "They are healthy. I can hear their heartbeats so strongly now."

((XD I love it! It reminds me of when I annotate things for AP English lit...))
Kagome replied, "I didn't know you would like pocky so much..." Eying him warily, "But that would be a smirch on the Great Lord Sesshomaru's honor to go back on his word."
At first she was confused when he slipped his hand out from underneath hers. But she giggled lightly when she realized his reason.
"I'm glad. And they'll have the best of both of our worlds." Her smile widened when she thought all the dolls and toys. "... You know, Mama still wants to meet you. She was so shocked when she found out that I was pregnant..."
