A heavily robed priest, followed by a nun, sped out into the grand room, having heard the crash from one of the far hallways of the cathedral.

"Did some kid break a window again playing baseball?" the young priest asked with a furrowed brow, looking to the the Legends before following the trail of glass to the large stone which lay upon the ground. His voice faltered a bit as he stared at the rock for a moment before looking up to the large hole in the window, managing a stutter of surprise before finally making a coherant sound. "...Oh."

"I'm fine, but the window..." Mayu said, still staring at the large hole in surprise. "What the HECK was that?"

A large draconic creature crashed through the window, making another large hole besides the one the stone had already created. It beat its wings in the air as it hovered there, serving as a reply to Mayu's question.

"...Oh," the girl replied timidly, moving her hands up to wrap Demare's arms around her tighter.

Yeah, there WAS that... The beautiful window was now in pieces on the floor, and it would be impossible to fix. At least she was okay...

Demare's wings stretched themselves out as far was possible as a chill ran down his spine, holding Mayu close as more debris flew into the air, revealing the creature that was causing all of the wreckage.

"What the hell is that thing?!" he cried, feeling a slight panic coming on. He had to be strong... he couldn't be scared. Although... "S-should... we run?"

The priest was close to panicking now, whispering fiercely to the nun who ran off screaming about the "seventh sign" or something close to that. He looked over to the children, waving his arms madly as to usher them to a safer location.

From above, the gargoyle swooped down at the priest, clawing at the man as he fumbled through his layers of robes to attempt to find something to defend himself with. Pulling out a small staff, the priest attempted to parry the blows as he slowly backed up, eyes turning to the hallway every once in a while in a worried manner as if he was searching for someone.

Noticing the trouble the priest was having, Mayu turned to face Demare and shook her head, wresting herself free of his grasp.

"We can't! That man's in trouble! We have to help him!" she cried, pointing at the priest who was quickly being backed up into a wall. Ignoring her total lack of knowledge in the skills of combat, the Legend tugged on Demare's hands a few times as she kept her gaze on the man whom was cowered in one corner, holding one arm to protect himself as he swung the staff about madly in order to ward off the blows.

"Come on!" she said once again, looking back up to Demare.

"Mayu, wait!" Demare cried after her, wondering what she could possibly be thinking. He hesitated, looking from the gargoyle, the priest, and back to Mayu, sighing as he couldn't just say no. It wasn't that he didn't care, it was more of a matter of... well... fighting a MUCH larger creature.

"We'll just... keep it busy until everyone's gone, alright? It's too dangerous for us to do this by ourselves."

Reaching to his right side, he felt around his bandages, frowning. Well... CRAP. He didn't have Mordonath.

Mayu had gotten halfway down the aisle before realizing that she did not have anything to defend herself with. She smacked herself in the head for her stupidity, eyes darting around for something to arm herself with.

She picked up a leather-bound bible from the back of a seat, stumbling to the side slightly as she realized the weight of it, and held it firmly in one arm to act as a shield before looking for something she could use as a weapon. Eyes fixing on a silver candlestick set decoratively on an endtable, the child rushed over to pick it up without bothering to blow out the flames.

"C'mon, Clare!" she called, starting to jog down the aisle once again. "What're you waiting for?"

Demare felt a little uncomfortable without his dagger, looking around for a moment for something he could use to defend himself. There were a lot of rocks and debris, a little bit of the framework...

The gargoyle screeched and flapped its large wings angrily, knocking the scepter out of the priests hands.

Grabbing hold of the pew in front of him, he began to lift the wooden seats, struggling at the imbalance. Managing to get up up enough like a bat, the halfling shifted the bench in his arms so it would be ready for his next action.

"HEY UGLY!" he growled loudly.

The creature was just about to claw the man it was attacking when it heard a voice over the beating of its wings. WHO DARES DISTURB ITS BREAKFAST?

"EAT THIS!"

Straining his muscles, he chucked the pew at the gargoyle. Damn, that was heavy...

The priest's eyes widened as he dropped the staff, one hand fumbling for it on the ground with his other above his head, as if that could defend him from the sharp claws of the gargoyle.

Mayu cried out in surprise as she watched the bench fly overhead, startled at the other's strength. After getting over the sudden shock, she ran over to help the man up, grabbing the scepter off of the ground as well as she led him to safety at the far end of the room.

The bench crashed into the gargoyle, and they both fell to the floor in a deafening crash. Just then, the nun reappeared in the hallway with a troupe of armed priests and other clergymen ready to help fight the monster.

Demare dropped to his knees, losing balance from the throw, his arms partially numb. s**t... Maybe that hadn't been a good idea. It seemed better than throwing one of the larger rocks, which still would have used about the same amount of strength.

This would NOT do. This simply WOULD NOT DO. The gargoyle screamed and howled as it stood, bolting back into the air. Its massive wings flapped hard and steady, causing a slight wind to pick up within the cathedral, blowing up dust and small pebbles. One wing crashed into a pillar as the creature moved itself, causing it to collaspe on both sides and create a domino affect in two directions. One after one the right side of the catherdral's pillars crashed into one another, heading straight for the hallway the nuns had appeared from and the opposite side toward the enterance in which Mayu was taking the priest. It would be a FEAST tonight!

"Lord help us," a nun whispered, watching the colliding pillars head straight for them. Cries were heard from the hallway as the mass of clergymen scrambled to get away from the heavy marble pillars as to not be crushed. A loud cry was heard, barely above the deafening crashes, from an anguished acolyte whose leg had been trapped under one of the falling pillars.

A small cry was heard from Mayu as she looked over her shoulder and saw the falling pillars, quickening her pace as she strained to outrun them. Realizing that she wouldn't be able to run fast enough with the extra luggage that she was carrying along, the child pulled hard on the priest's robes and sent them both tumbling over an endtable and onto a bench. She had thrown down the bible and candlestick in all of the madness, the candles thankfully having been blown out by both the wind and the sudden fall that they had took. It was bad enough that they had to deal with a gargoyle without a full-blown fire as well.

The halfling, upon hearing the cry from the hallway, looked up to see someone trapped underneath one of the fallen pillars. Crap! These people needed to get OUT of here, not try and fight the damned thing! Struggling to his feet against the force of the wind, the child quickly made his way toward where the nuns were once standing, only to be attacked by the creature's tail and sent flying hard into the stone wall. He couldn't even let out a cry as the wind was knocked out of him, the poor boy sliding to the ground, grasping his stomach tightly as one of his burn wounds ached terribly.

Screeching again, the gargoyle felt satisfied, snorting in Demare's direction before hovering its way closer to its original first meal. Now, where was that human...? Sniffing the air, it growled hungrily toward the enterance, its large eyes staring down toward the ground, searching for the robes.

"Clare!" the girl cried out in alarm, watching her friend being slammed into the wall by the gargoyle's tail.

Urging the priest up as she noticed the monster coming, Mayu pushed the man down once more onto his elbows and knees as they stepped onto the cold marble floors. They inched out into the main aisle, hoping not to be seen by the gargoyle as they moved along.

The group of people quickly tended to the young acolyte, whom was still conscious despite the great pain he was suffering due to his heavily bleeding leg. More of them rushed over to help the boy, half the group attempting to lift up the pillar which pinned the acolyte to the ground and half of them examining Demare. They were most definately an easy target for the gargoyle, but luckily for them, the monster was still intent on catching the priest and Mayu with no attention to the others in the room.

Or was it? The gargoyle turned as it heard the bustling of people from behind, screeching loudly as it was about to make its way toward them. However, hearing the voice from almost directly below, it stopped, staring down at the priest and Mayu. LUNCH!

It was like Demare could feel the danger the others were in. Growling, he waved off the people inspecting him.

"Get OUT of here! Don't help me, damn it!" he screamed at them, using the wall for support as he managed to stand. "Help the priest and Mayu!"

Limping slightly, the halfling drug his feet toward the fallen pillar, ordering the clergys to move out of the way. It was huge... The pillar's width was at least twice his size, and it was probably four times as long. He had to lift it, though... He HAD to. The man's leg underneath wouldn't be worth saving, but if he could throw this just right...

Getting the best grip he could on the broken stone before him, the child began to heave with all his might. The first three tries did nothing, not even causing the damn thing to budge. The fourth however... Slowly, it began to lift.

The gargoyle began to swoop down toward its prey, its deranged mouth open wide.

Demare could feel his muscles straining, his wings curling in close to his back as he continued to lift the pillar, as if to give him extra support. He could do this... He HAD to do this! The halfling cried out in pain as his body pushed itself to its limits, the flesh around his burn wounds ripping and tearing, allowing blood to seep through and trickle down his arm and torso. The large stone was finally in throwing reach, and the boy, as quickly as he could, turned on his heel and lugged it at the gargoyle, collapsing for the moment.

The group of people stood still, murmuring to each other about what they should do. They decided upon listening to the boy's words after a few seconds of debate, splitting up to meet at the entrance where they guided the priest and Mayu out of church, and also out of the way of harm.

"Clare!" Mayu cried once more, watching the scene as she was quickly led away. Slipping out of the nuns' arms and running back into the main entrance, the girl dashed down the aisle to where the gargoyle lay, stunned for the moment by the large rock which had come crashing down on it all of a sudden.

Noticing a large shard of thick glass at her feet, she picked it up carefully and lunged at the monster, ripping at its wing until she was certain that it would not be able to function correctly. She then got to work on the other one, shredding the thick leather wing to the best of her ability before tossing the glass down and running over to aid Demare.

His body shook and spasmed, the muscles trying to relax but failed as they kept tense from the strain, the child struggling to his hands and knees. He hit it? He'd actually managed to throw it far enough?

Demare's wings flexed a little bit as Mayu approached him, idly cursing the fact that she came back inside. He caught a glimpse of her now bleeding hand, however, and he frowned. She was... hurt? Ignoring his stiffness and aches, the halfling quickly undid the bandage around his left arm, grabbing the girl's wrist firmly to pull her close. Immediately, he began to wrap her hand to stop the bleeding.

"I'm supposed to be the reckless one," he muttered, unable to help but smile slightly, despite the situation. "Your mom's gonna kill me if I take you home hurt."

The creature was just plain angry now, screaming as it stood, extending its torn wings to their fullest. It tried to lift itself into the air, only to fall back to the ground on its face, that just adding to the fire. In an uproar, the beast clambered up to its feet and charged the two, turning quickly on its hind claws and swinging its tail hard.

Mayu let out a small cry as she was pulled over, inspecting her bandaged hand and moving the fingers to be sure it was okay. She hadn't even noticed the cut on her palm in all of the excitement, and was surprised to see it bleeding so much.

She smiled back up at Demare, muttering a small thank you. It was cut short, however, by the gargoyle's attack. Caught by the tip of the tail, Mayu was smacked to the side with nothing to block her fall. She flew a few feet in the air before landing on the ground hard, sliding another few inches until friction stopped her.

Letting out a small cough, the girl weakly attempted to push herself up, getting up high enough so that she could grab ahold of the bench above her to drag her up the rest of the way.

"I'm okay," Mayu managed to croak out, supporting herself with the edge of the pew as she tried to catch her breath.
