I never wear lolita to school anymore. I did freshman year, but now I've realized it is just NOT worth it. But then again, I live in Vegas, so it is even more likely for people to mistake me for a stripper. And my high school is probably the most conservative public schools in the whole county. I got made fun of repeatedly, it was uncomfortable stuffing a petti into those chair attached desks, and the weather always was against me.
No more loli at school for me. stressed It is much more fun to wear on the weekends and at events where I can actually enjoy myself wearing it. Besides, isn't the point of dressing up to have fun? Not just to be different? 3nodding

Actually, at the college I go to, there are a TON and i do mean a TON of foreign students, mostly Korean and Japanese. One common thing to see is the typical punk style with the cute bunny hoodies <3 They are cuter in person(those hoodies i mean) And the other day, I saw a authentic Lolita. She was the most adorable thing ever but she was very short without the shoes.
So i assume the reasons platforms are sooooo common and as my korean friend (who traveled to japan often) would say its because pure japanese (not mixed) are not that tall and wear the extra height to compensate.

heart heart heart heart
I followed a plan in order to make my wearing lolita to school easy-er sweatdrop I started out with a casual lolita, then bit by bit grew into wearing classic lolita and so on ^_^ I kind of have alot of friends (not to brag or be vain or anything of the sort ^_^ They are all very supportive because Im all of their "little sister" (im a year younger then everyone my grade, and thus will graduate at 17) They make it so much easier~~~ heart
bad reaction:
Once I was walking to school in loli once, and a guy infront of my turned around and shouted out "what the f*********?!?!!" he walked on for alittle bit and turned around and apologized, saying that he forgot I was that one girl. xd I have no idea if I should be offended or happy rofl rofl heart heart heart heart

Eh! I gt the french maid thing alllll the time. Especially when I wear gothic lolita. But, once someone said, "Oh, how cute! You look like a little doll!!! Are you supose to be a doll???" Well...I suppose you could look at that as a compliment...I think??? Well, it did happen to be Halloween THAT particular day. But I dressed normally, but whatever...

Brenli Whenever I wear lolita in college I get a lot of quiet stares. I'm in the theater department a lot, so most of my reaction that I actually get to my face are positive ones, but as for outside the theater, I can't be sure. Not many people are brave enough to actually say anything to my face about the way I dress. Which is fine. I don't wanna deal with them, anyway. xd Yeah im in college and my major is Theatre Costume Design....so alot of people just think im "test driving" my costumes. I get alot of compliments though becuase of it...followed by strange looks once i explain this is an everyday thing blaugh Sometimes pictures follow.

DeathOfSoul I'm sure I'll have some nice stories to tell when I make some loli clothes and wear them to college (when I start this Summer or August) XD heart I actually saw an authentic japanese lolita at my college about a year ago. It was really nice to the eye. No one really mind, but thats probably because the college i go to has a ton of koreans and japanese international students smile Perhaps this is why my opinion on lolita fashion and asian fashion is different in general XP Though it takes me an hour and a half to go to school.

My school has a uniform but I wear my hair the same as I do normally (hime cut and small alice bow). But I get the occasional "GOTH!" comment on free dress day, I have some very ignorant people at my school.

I'm too afraid of what people will say! I got on a varsity sport this year so I know some of the upperclassmen but I'm not sure what they would say if I was in a lolita outfit at school. Besides the people in my school LOVE to gossip so you really have to be careful what you say and do because the whole school could know in a matter of hours. Maybe I should just wear a lolita outfit to school one day anyway...

Really it all comes down to wearing what makes you happy. If you really want to wear your lolita finest to school and the only thing that's stopping you are the words of others then you should brush off their criticisms. However if you don't want to wear it because you're not comfortable in the clothes or you're afraid the venue you'd be in is not appropriate then you should avoid wearing lolita.

I don't wear Lolita frequently in school, but when I do, I get lots of compliments. But some people do think it's a bit strange. I get asked a lot of questions, too.

I don't really get that many comments, nor strange looks, when I wear lolita to school, since there already was another lolita at my school before I started there 3nodding But when I do get comments it's mostly stuff like "You look so cute!", "Where do you buy your clothes?" and "How the hell do you make your skirt so fluffy?" xp

... Wut? Why should school stop you from wearing lolita, except if the rules forbid it? It never stopped me. I go to junior high (8th grade, Finnish school system) which means tension is higher than ever, well, it's basically the same as high school in the States. When I started junior high, I wore pretty regular clothes, but once I started wearing the so-called 'Japanese-inspired fashion' people started really taking notice to me. They'd ask weird questions and maybe poke a bit of fun at me, but it was all friendly. Lolita came, and nothing new. It was just my latest obsession. I understand that some schools may be more judging than others, but if you really love this fashion, then you should wear it with pride... I'm happy there's some people that realize that.
