I don't though. Although you see them seperated and comitted to different things most of the time, their feelings for each other are strong and pretty evident, so I don't see them ever breaking up.

Yes, I know. That's what makes me believe that the could last. They're strong and their feelings for each other would eventually bring them together again. But you never know about the break-ups. Sometimes, something too good to be true is actually too good to be true.

Upbringing has nothing to do with it, and with the war ended, Heero has no need to think in the mind of an assassin, only when necessary. How does giving Relena a teddy bear come into the frame of mind of being a killer or guard, huh?

I don't usually like thinking realistically since reality sucks for me. ^_^ I like living in my dream worlds. And of course, if you were talking about anime characters staying together when it's not in the anime, would that really be called realistic?

lol anyway, being realistic about the whole actually making it thing, good point. Sometimes things are too good to be true. You've got me on that. (trust me, I know all about that) But it happens. I guess it's just a 50/50 chance. They could fall apart or stay together forever. ^_^ I guess it just depends on what your opinion is on it. (not YOUR opinion. I mean like a fans opinion. ^_^)


Uh....I babble a lot...Sorry.

Okay. I guess my post isn't going to make a whole lot of difference, since my view of the series and such is so different from most peoples, pairing-wise.

There is no OTP in this series. There is no 1xR, no 1x2, no anything. There are hints that can be crafted to further the views of just about any pairing at all. I like a well-crafted 1xR fic, the same as I like a well-crafted fic featuring 1x2, or DxR, among others. H.I.N.T. said it best.

As for 1xR itself in the future, I guess the biggest thing for me is how Heero will handle the whole "there are no more battles for me to fight" thing. It's one thing to be relieved just after what you hope is the last battle and dropping into unconsciousness, but it's quite another to wake up day after day to something that is, quite honestly, completely foreign to the guy.

Then there is the fact that Relena is the one who, will-she-nill-she, is always going to be in the spotlight. She isn't going to be able to get around that, people are just that celebrity hungry. He might stick around to be her bodyguard, but a relationship built on that much of a power imbalance isn't going to be a healthy one, even if they do manage to get it together and express their feelings.

Something that hints of this "non-relationship" to me is the teddy bear thing people are so fond of pointing at. He doesn't give her the teddy bear himself. He drops it off, attempting to be incognito, and she doesn't even recognize him until she picks up the bear and reads the note. I'm not sure the note even said anything romantic. For all we know, it could have said, "Happy Birthday, Relena. Signed, Heero." Then she looks out the window, and sees him. IIRC, he nods, she smiles, and then he goes about his business. Seems like there's something there, but then again... *shrug*

Could it work? Possibly. Do I see it happening? ... Not very likely right now. They're both in mid-teens, with very different lives and vastly different backgrounds. Not to mention very different personalities. All they've got going for them at this point is their obsessions with following each other around.

If they grow up, and grow out of their individual insecurities and such, it would be more likely. Will they keep in touch for this to happen? rofl Do you honestly think Relena is going to let a friend fall out of her life? She was born to network, baby.

So yes. In the future, they could happen. In the meantime, I'd like to see them grow up a little, and perhaps have relationships with other people, not necessarily pulled from the rest of the GW cast.

I must agree with previous posts. I am a fanatic romantic so of course I say it would be perfect but in reality I can't say it would definitely happen. I mean, I think he cared for her somehow (why else would he not be able to kill her at the party that night?) Is it love?

I actually think the viewers were meant to think it was love (consdiring some of the manga). Also, Duo flat out mentions that Heero lovers her in EW. But is that his opinion only? I think, either way, it was intentionally implied.

In real life, I can't imagine Heero simply showing up after the fighting is done and jumping into Relena's arms and them living a brady bunch life. Too many factors come into play regarding their personalities. Heero is a secluded person who hasn't had much relationship-opportunities. He is used to shutting people out and discarding emotional feelings. I think if he were to get closer to Relena, it would take time (lots of it) and a lot of patience on Relena's part. All in all, I see it staying at a strong level of respect for one another.

Were they meant to be? I think the writers knew they couldn't please everyone so they left it to where anyone can interpret it their own way.

Maybe I'm just an optimist, but I think Heero and Relena would have a fair shot at a lasting relationship. Although they are still very young in the series, they were virtually stripped of all chances of a normal teenage life with their influential positions in the war. What began as a crush and a death threat changed dramatically over the years into a relationship of support. Without Heero to fight those who oppose and without Relena as the peacemaker, the world would again be at odds. Though Heero goes back to a "normal" life, he is still very much a part of Relena's as she faces her own battles in the political arena (Ex: the end of Ground Zero). She now has to uphold what they fought so hard to obtain. They defy what anyone would ever expect out of people their age.

As for Heero not being able to have any emotions, I disagree. He has emotions just like any other human being, but he's smart enough and mature enough to know that he can't afford to have the luxury of remorse while fighting. There's too many lives riding on his shoulders for him to screw up. I'm not saying that it won't be difficult for him to reajust to life after war. But, i also don't think he'll miss the battlefield. He just has to figure out what kind of life he wants to lead.

Anyway, it may be prolonged, but I think that Heero and Relena would find each other again. Relena loves him even though she repressed her feelings in the name of duty. Heero returns the feelings somewhat, if not more than we see on the outside.

I have faith that they could make it work. I don't really think that they would meet anyone who had the same deep understanding of what they went through. If anything, Heero would have trouble with the spotlight with Relena. But, I'm sure he would eventually have to face that too as one of the great saviors of the Earth. I'm sure the spotlight would be trivial in comparison to his intensity to always protect her, and Relena's want to be with Heero.

In conclusion: Ahhh, they could do it. xp
