I don't think Nuala means *she* wants all that stuff - she means that Sega's chasing an older market that *it* thinks wants all that stuff - the GTA generation. Meanwhile the rest of us have a hankering for the good ol' days when you see a badnik, you bounce on it, you move on.
Speaking personally (as a 25 year old), I've no interest in "mature content", guns and vehicles - as has been said before, why would a supersonic hedgehog slow himself down by driving a jeep? Or, indeed, as has also been mentioned, what use is a gun to a creature who can outrun the bullets it fires?
As a game, Shadow's OK, but it's not very Sonic-like. And, let's face it, there are other gaming houses who are better at producing the kind of content Sonic Team seemed to be going for. What it boils down to is: why would an average, non-Sonic fan gamer bother with Shadow when s/he can play (as you've mentioned) Halo? Or Doom? Or Half-life?
Shadow manages not to appeal to some of the older Sonic fans while also not being particularly appealing to the rest of the gaming world. And therein lies its problem.

I do play Doom, Half-Life and the like when I want games with a more mature storyline (which Half-Life 2 genuinely has, rather than just being full of swearing and gore for the sake of it), or Silent Hill, Fahrenheit... When I play a Sonic game, I'm looking for a little more innocence. It's much the same reason why I'm so fond of ICO, or We Love Katamari.

gonk I HAVE Shadow The Hedgehog, and it's boring, one of my friends says that Shadow is Doom's SON, Pff, yeah, reight like i'd ever beleive that! i don't believe him because he lies too much, so i can't really trust him. Another one of my TRUSTFUL friends said that Maria's still alive and Shadow saw it all himself. Now THAT i believe. I lurv to play Halo anytime, anywhere, but as long as it's co-op. I can't wait until Halo 3 comes out, but it's for XBOX 360! domokun A nd it's not really fair because they sell XBOX 360s for $600!!! burning_eyes Ugh, i can't WAIT until this year's over and done with!

Shadow's connection with Black Doom isn't exactly a paternal one...And, to dwell on it would be spoilerish, not to mention my memory's a bit rusty on the game. : p I could either post it later, or you could probably find it faster at Wikipedia XD
Btw, Xbox 360s are around $400, not $600....Now, the PS3 is a different story...

I was listening to a radio interview a couple of weeks ago, where the presenter pointed out to the Sony executive that she had in the chair that when Microsoft'd released two versions of the X-Box 360, the previous Sony interviewee she'd asked for an opinion'd attacked the idea fairly heavily. The guy concerned said that his colleague's views were the individual opinions. Funny thing, that... I didn't think that it was supposed to be professional to offer your own opinion when you're invited as a corporate spokesman. Smells more like double standards to me.
