Character Name: Cassadega Bright & NPC Arnold Team: Spectator
The pair of staffer sat at the table, observing Ciaran and Accalia's 1v1. Arnold appeared to be hyper-interested, with his finger pushing up his coke bottle glasses, and Cass looking bored with her cheek resting on her knuckles as she kept glancing back at her phone.
When the game ended, Accalia winning, Arnold jumped up to praise his team's winner and Cass got up to meander over to Ciaran.
Once at Accalia's game booth he held out a prize bag. "Congratulations!" In it was a gift card to the local game store, an amazon card, and some argent industries paraphernalia, like a lanyard and more.
Cass leaned up against the edge of Ciaran's booth and offered a consolation grin. "Do you need a pick me up after that brutal defeat?"

Character Name: Ciaran Cassidy Team: Blue
Ciaran had been lucky enough to have a private ticket fan meet with Jade after all, and she had done her best for the game and the small defeat had her a bit bummed. She didn't show it much on her face, and immediately perked when Cass came over to her booth, sliding up to her.
"Oh you saw that?" She laughed awkwardly, "I'd make a lame line about how I am better then that but I wasn't." She ran a hand nervously over her leg and then rose a brow.
"Sure I could." Ciaran didn't want to tell the girl she was good at bouncing back because she was definitely interested in getting to know the green haired woman. "Whatcha got in mind?" Her eyes twinkled at Cass.

AccaliaShe had not been expecting the win to be honest and she was quite pleased to be gifted with the things she was. "This is very exciting!" Taking the bag she gave Arnold a bright smile, "Is there anything else I need to do? You do have my number and name if you have to call me back." Her break was almost over and she needed to get back to her post. "If you do need me, please don't hesitate to dial, I do have to get going though." Looking at the time she knew that she didn't have too much longer left and she didn't want to be late getting back to the ticket booth. "Thanks for holding the demo!" She really had a great time trying it out and hoped others were able to get as much joy out of it as she had. Giving a last smile she waved at the man who had given her the gift bag and took off in the direction of the gate.

Character Name: Queenie Powers Team: Spectator
She heard her name being said in that very stern, very teacher-like tone and Queenie Powers inwardly winced a little bit. It wasn't that she disliked Ms. Ellis, no, but a knee-jerk reaction developed from years of stern talking-tos from both Ms. Ellis and all of the other Crystal Academy teachers. The question itself seemed more rhetorical than sincere - like something to be expected of a superior of her favorite little underling.
And yet...
"Ashley?"
Her nose scrunched up at the question, perfectly plucked eyebrows rising.
Was she even supposed to be watching that dunce? Why should she have to be in charge of trying to keep up with that dullard - after all, what did Suri Ellis even need with such an unenthusiastic slacker when she had someone like Queenie at the ready to help with whatever she needed?
And still, she asked specifically for how Ashley was doing?
The young woman couldn't help but wilt a little at the notion that someone so frustratingly annoying could favor her boss's attention and not the redhead who was actively trying so very hard to win that coveted spot. Stupid Ashley, she hoped he got snatched up by some stupid senshi or some stupid nerds or whatever else could be possibly running around in the convention right now. Would serve the dummy right.
"I'll go find him, ma'am."
The enthusiasm had left her voice, eyes refusing to meet those of her boss's as Queenie, defeated, turned away and disappeared into the crowd, fingernails pressing deeply into her palm as she did her best to keep her irritation at bay.

Character Name: Loren Malinowski Team: Red team Prompt #: 1 POINT TALLY: n/a
Loren had heard about the game event and was immediately interested before he'd even heard many of the details. He wasn't much of a gamer, technically, unless his otome game addiction counted as being a gamer, but comics and video games frequently overlapped. Once he got to the ring, he found out that he was automatically assigned to be part of the red team. He paused when he was asked to come up with a code name. Code name?
'CowSkis'.
Classic.
Well, at least the controls seemed easy enough. Again, Loren didn't play many action games, so he was admittedly dreading a complicated setup and hoping for a simple WASD control. So it looked like he was getting something simple, at the very least. Slipping the headset on over his ears, Loren opted not to introduce himself to his team. He didn't actually know any of them, and he might interrupt someone's focus. The last thing he wanted was for someone to start yelling at him for them getting "ganked" or whatever.
...Did people still say 'ganked'? When had they ever said 'ganked'? Loren knew he'd heard the term somewhere, but suddenly realized that he hadn't heard anyone say it recently.
All the more reason not to say it, honestly.
Anyway, he was pretty sure the game was going to start, soon, and he needed to be paying attention to that rather than the semantics of archaic video game lingo. He mulled over the character options available and decided to go for the melee character. It would be nice to be able to just hack and slash through things rather than try to hit them with an arrow, and he didn't feel much like toting a shield around the whole time.
Once his character was selected, Loren turned toward the paths that he had available to him.

Character Name: Loren Malinowski Team: Red team Prompt #: 2 ( Rudarius) POINT TALLY: 5
The actual arena was... something else. Loren had to admit that the novelty of it was a lot of fun, and they hadn't even actually done anything, yet. Honestly not really caring what he ended up doing, Loren observed passively while his team decided who should go where. Since he was playing a melee class, everyone else figured he should be fine to just... go off on his own. His stats weren't as delicate as the ranged character, after all, who would probably need the shield character to protect them while they moved. Otherwise, the ranged character might end up getting picked off.
So, he went down the center path by himself. That was fine, honestly. He was feeling pretty good about the game so far and anticipated the idea of running into an enemy with a bit of excitement.
Actually running into an enemy, however, made him jump a bit when they popped out of the grasses to challenge him. Fortunately, he was able to recover quickly enough to try and attack them, and he was pleasantly surprised to discover that he had a cohort with him that he had somehow managed to miss before. Unless they just popped into existence for fights, which, well, was not uncommon for how video games worked, if he remembered correctly. He guessed it would take too much effort and money to try and render each individual NPC that followed him around.
Plus, follow dynamics could be weird, or so he had heard. Players getting stuck on corners, and all. Anyway, Loren readied his sword and got to work. By the end of it, he and his NPC friends had gotten a few of them. So... yeah, that was pretty cool...

Character Name: Loren Malinowski Team: Red team Prompt #: 3 ( Rudarius) POINT TALLY: 5 + 1 = 6
After the previous victory, Loren continued on in pretty good spirits. He had no earthly or heavenly idea what he was doing, but it certainly seemed to be turning out alright, so far. It could certainly be worse, he guessed. He'd not died yet, right? He was pretty sure if he died in the game, he would be kicked out of the tournament in general.
He wasn't ready to be ousted, yet.
And so he walked down the path, head swiveling around as he did so in the hopes of finding more enemies to combat. Loren remembered something vaguely about points, something about how he would need a certain amount of them to win. Win what? What was the prize? He honestly did not remember, having been too excited to get involved in the game itself to pay much attention to what it actually entailed.
It did strike him, then, that perhaps that was an unwise decision.
What if he had gotten himself into something really super weird, all because he had not paid attention when the game was being explained to him? Admittedly, he was thinking about it much too hard, and he dragged himself back to the current moment as he moved to defend himself against some enemy minions he had stumbled across. They were pretty easy to take care of, and Loren was almost disappointed. Sure, he wasn't very good at these games, but he could have handled a stronger challenge than that...
With a puff of air, Loren kept going, hoping the next encounter would be more entertaining.

Loren was... pretty sure he was at least halfway through this gamut? Again, he had not paid nearly as much attention as perhaps he should have when the rules and layout of the game were being explained to him. So now, he was going to have to play it by ear and hope he didn't mess up something obvious. He moved forward down the path by himself. Well, him and his NPC helpers, anyway. He hoped this was not one of those games where his helpers could catch enemy aggro, because that would suck. They did the sort of typical NPC milling about whenever he stood still for a moment, so he tried not to stand still.
And yet, he found an enemy anyway. Taking a moment to say something unkind, Loren moved to try and strike the enemy down with his sword. To his helpers' credit, it did not seem as if they had attracted the enemy's attention, so that was something at least, and a point to the game system mechanics? However, Loren was able to input the correct commands and button presses to get rid of the enemies that had challenged him without too much difficulty.
He paused to be surprised, for a moment, watching the last one fall and assume the "dead" position. He was going to have to try video games more often if they were all like this. At any rate, because he and his helpers had not attracted any extra attention from enemies, Loren kept going.

Character Name: Loren Malinowski Team: Red team Prompt #: 5 ( Rudarius) POINT TALLY: 10 - 2 = 8
As Loren got further in the game, he was getting more of a handle on the mechanics, so he was feeling pretty good about things until he saw the base looming in the distance. In between him and the base, however, were towers and the enemies within, and he realised when he went to check his inventory that he was running low on items to make sure he and his helpers did not die.
Well, he was just going to have to try and take the tower and hope that he and his helpers did not die. Taking a deep breath, Loren inputted the command to tell his helpers to try and take the towers that stood in their way. He was a little clumsy about it, however, and accidentally instructed a minion to do one action when he meant for them to go guard one of their compatriots. Trying to recover from that, Loren didn't pay attention to the line of fire from the enemy.
Next thing he knew, half his helpers had gone down, and he did not have any items left or anything that could heal or revive them. Then, somehow, he had missed an attack coming in from the towers, and the end of that wave saw the other half of his helpers dead on the ground. Once the towers were actually down and Loren could contemplate matters, he decided to just leave his dead men there. There was nothing he could do about it within the confines of the game, after all.
It didn't have a "give your fallen compatriots a funerary parade to thank them for their service" dialogue option. Besides, he was pretty sure he was almost to the end, anyway.

All by his lonesome, Loren managed to make it to the enemy base that had been looming in the distance before. He did rather wish he had not managed to lose all of his helpers in the previous leg, but he supposed he was also lucky to have made it this far. He was just shy of taking the wild button mash approach when challenged, and he had to keep double-checking what some of the less-common game controls were. So, at the very least, he was still alive and able to look up at the enemy base with a distinct sense of foreboding.
He tried to be optimistic, but he was pretty sure that was the end of the line.
Loren started forward toward the enemies that awaited him, and he tried very hard not to just button mash his way through the battle. This was probably a final battle, if his sense of cinematic video game timing was right, and he knew this meant it was probably going to be very hard. Button mashing was not going to get him through it like it'd done for the other ones.
That did not mean he did not try to do that anyway, instinctively, especially as he got embroiled in the final conflicts.
Predictably, it did not work, and he was killed and booted out of the game with a "Game Over" message. ... Well, hey, that had actually been pretty fun. Maybe he'd pick up an RPG or something on his way home. Something to play between otome titles, especially since he was waiting on a sequel title to come out that kept getting delayed...
He had been so close with this game, too. Almost to the end! The last dude! The last! Dude! He was a mix of proud of himself and frustrated. Loren decided that, yes, he was going to buy himself an actual RPG, and he was going to play it, and he was going to beat it.
He wasn't going to get knocked out again in the eleventh hour jeez.

Players came and went, as did any spectators or people who might've stopped by to check before leaving after deciding it wasn't for them. As the competition began to thin out, with most people unsuccessful in attempts to advance forward and few skirting by and into additional bonus rounds, the game makers, and the patrons at AI, were overall pleased with the initial beta testing of Gladiators of the Gallows.
An announcement was made overhead, to signal the end of the beta testing.
"Thanks so much to everyone who participated in our exclusive beta testing of Gladiators of the Gallows, if you're interested in getting more updates for the game, please see our sign up station to leave your name, email, and other relevant information. Otherwise we hope that you've enjoyed the game in whatever manner was most enjoyable for you. Until next time!"
With that the event staff began to clean up and the large projector screen went black.
((OOC: The game is now officially concluded, thank you to everyone who participated either as a gamer or volunteer staffer. You may consider this your fin for this overarching thread or you may take your exits at your leisure.
Please remember it counts as one regular for requirements.
Thanks!!))

Character Name: Cassadega Bright
She really shouldn't have been wandering off again after only being back for a short period of time but the testing had been winding down and they'd already thinned out the winners of the first round and then the second.
Arnold could handle things, the stuffy dude probably liked pretending he was in charge.
So, she grabbed Ciaran's hand, lacing their fingers together, and leaned in to whisper in her ear, "Oh, I have more than a few ideas, c'mon."
With that, she led the girl off to somewhere more...private.
Whenever they separated, Ciaran would almost definitely be sporting green lipstick somewhere.
