Ain't no sunshine Melvin wasn't wrong, but there were a few points that were a little of. Sauteed he'd taken enough pictures, he stowed the phone and headed over to sink down infringement of Melvin. "My goals are incredibly important to me. In fact, I've managed to reach most of them, and now that I'm in Life division, I can finally finish up my doctorate." It was his biggest regret about coming to Deus, and now he could fix it. A lack of empathy towards most people was certainly on the mark. He didn't sound offended by the assessment, more curious than anything else. "Why do you think I'm lazy with realationships?"

Ain't no Sunshine"Well, you seem like whatever happens hapoens. When you gave me advice, you sounded like you keep trying around to find interest and if it's not there then move on. It's not bad advice, but I get the feeling you could carel ess if one person or another gets with you. That if they stayed or left then thats just how it is. You don't seem like you'd work hard to try and regain a person's favor or chase after them or try and get someone who wasn't interested at first to change their mind. To see you as an option."
He looked up at the ceiling as he thought before looking back st Zeke. "Like no one is worth spending the energy like that."

Ain't no sunshine "You wanted advice regarding casual hookups, so thats what you got." He frowned thoughtfully, still not offended, but he wondered what about his relationship with Ever left Melvin with the impression that he didn't care. "Maintaining a functional and mutually beneficial relationship for over three years doesn't just happen by chance. You've got it right with easy going, and things being open take away some of the complications, but if I didn't care about Ever, or Harley, they wouldn't still be a part of my life, and I want them to continue being a part of it."

Ain't no Sunshine"Hmmm. Maybe it's the open aspect that makes it feel too easy." Maybe it was that he had thought things being open would be easy and they had only made things complicated for himself when he was with Lawr which made it harder to understand how Zeke had no issues with it.
"Seemed you were jusy too easy going that everyone was just so casual that it wouldn't be a loss if they left you. I don't know. Seems I missed the mark on you."
"How do you even manage a relationship with two people without worrying they will leave to have a commited relationship elsewhere?" Or with each other, he thought bitterly.
"Aren't you worried?"

Ain't no sunshine "Easy doesn't mean careless." There was certainly no stage of care when it came to Zeke's relationships with Ever and Harley. It had gotten to the point where he couldn't imagine being here without them. "They aren't looking for a committed relationship, not in the way you mean, anyways. Harley and I are what we need from each other, is not traditional, but it works, and we're happy. It's as much commitment as we want. Ever," he said with an amused smile. "Doesn't want one on one commitment. If things get too serious, he gets squirrelly and uncomfortable." The singular big hiccup in their time together had been due to just such an occasion.

Ain't no SunshineHe ran a finger down a libe of dark stone before him on the ground.
"Have you been in a commited relationship before or have you never wanted it?"

Ain't no sunshine He was quiet for a moment as he thought. "I think we define commitment differently. What I have feels committed, but it doesn't have to be closed. I've been in closed relationships before that I didn't care half was much about." He shrugged. "I want them happy, safe, and I want them in my life. I don't worry about them not being there. What else is there?"

Ain't no SunshineOpen. Two people to love. Wanting them safe and happy. Wanting to be in their lives.
There was a monent that he wished Lawr and Nash would be kind to each other, but they were two seperate people with seperate ideals and values. Being nice together would worry Melvin in what Lawr would want to do and he would wonder about a person who trusted Lawr too much.
But he wanted Nash in his life but worried about him leaving. Worried how he and Lawr fought and which one would break the other. If the break would be literal.
How they fought in the chamber as he was defenseless against the door.
"If they fought, which one would you choose... If they forced you to decide?"

He frowned, not particularly pleased with the question, or what it might imply. "They wouldn't, they get along fine, and even if they didn't, neither of them would force me to chose one over the other."

"That's good." He said, a automatic response. A polite response.

The frown lingered at Melvin's response. "Is someone trying to make you chose between them and someone else?"

Ain't no SunshineHe shook his head. "No. Just wondering." Wondering when it would happen. When Lawr and Nash might reach a point where he had to make a choice.
Zeke was looking at him.
"Maybe you can bring some paper next time. To get reliefs of the etchings."

Ain't no sunshine. It was a critical look that followed Melvin's assurance, but Zeke let it go. For now. He glanced back up at the walls as the other man mentioned etchings. "Yeah, that'd be a good idea. Just gotta make sure I can keep it dry on the way down." A heavy duty ziploc bag might work.

Ain't no Sunshine"Yeah. People brought me food in ziplocks. Bagged a few times over. That seems to work." He said, glad at how easy it had been for things to move elsewhere.
He didn't know what else to say - for once.

Ain't no sunshine "Then that's what I'll do," he said as he climbed back to his feet and stretched his arms up over his head. The conversation had shifted, abd with it, the mood. It felt like this was a natural point to part on, especially since he'd finished with the pictures. Looking down at Melvin he considered asking again if he was alright being here, but instead changed his question at the last moment. "How long do you think you'll be down here?"
