I looked at Larissa as she crawled around, panicking. I looked at my hands. "S-Stay calm Leo, s-stay calm."
I then heard Miss Isabella calling over to us. "Get out of the storm! What are you two doing!?" She yelled at us. I glanced up and then scurried to my feet. My body felt strange, weight was in places it shouldn't be. I gently pushed Larissa towards the door. "Get inside. I'll grab the familiars." I said.
"J-Just a sec!" I called over, rushing over to the familiars. I attached the rapier to my hip, fumbling with the belt with shaking clawed fingers. Then I gently picked up the little blanket nest, cradling the three of them to me as I grabbed the scroll with my other hand. Hugging the items to me I cast the light shield over me and ran for the entrance to the roof.
Isabella was quick to usher us down the stairwell, closing the door behind us. We stopped in the hallway, and I was panting. I felt so strange.
Isabella had her hands on her hips. "Give me that scroll." She said, snatching it from my hand and unrolling it with a frown. She read it. "Where did y--"
"We got it from that box you passed around." I said quickly.
She lowered the scroll to look at me. "... You can't be serious."
"Yes." I hissed. My voice sounded harsher, more primal when I did so.
She looked at me up and down; my leaner figure, the ill fitting formal male clothes, the elf-like ears which were pointed back, the claws. She then glanced at the scroll. "Oh dear."

She was standing there, looking at the teacher, but snapped out of her daze when she yelled over to them. "Ah! Okay!" she turned to go assist Leo and found he was behind her, pushing her towards the door and stairwell down. She was about to protest about their familiars when he promised to get them, and she nodded and walked after the teacher.
When they stopped in the hallway, out of the rain, the clear umbrella spell over Miss Taylor vanished, little droplets of water falling to the floor. She was still shaking, and felt breathless. She wondered if they were in trouble. Miss Isabelle did not seem happy, and even had her hands on her hips. Whenever Larissa's mum did that, the girl knew a tongue lashing was forthcoming. She watched her snatch the scroll and unroll it quickly, listening to the conversation between she and Leo. She visibly jolted when Leo's voice came out weird. "What was that?!" she asked her friend, worried. "You sounded different just now" she turned to the teacher "Miss Taylor, I'm really scared. Something went wrong. I got a fright from the thunder and I tripped and fell. I pulled Leo down with me, into the ward. And now he's like this! I don't know what happened. We were supposed to summon an angel but I never saw one". Her voice shook and her eyes watered a little, she wiped them with the back of her hand.
"I'm sorry. I think this was my fault. I don't know enough of anything, but my parents said I could learn magic since it was my dream. And they paid for me to come here. But I don't know enough. And now I made a mistake and - " she sounded truly upset. She didn't know if something bad was going to happen to Leo now, or even if he could turn back into his old self. Poff wiggled out of the blanket and reached out to her, and she took the kitten, cradling her in her arms. She started to calm down a bit, the familiar's small purr and cute presence making her calmer. "Just tell me how to fix things and I will. And you can expel me after that if you want".

My voice surprised and startled Larissa; who then proceeded to confess what happened to Isabella what had happened.
Isabella looked at us both a moment, with a frown. Larissa accepted her familiar back into her arms, petting the kitten as she waited for Isabella's judgement. Isabella, meanwhile, looked at me, studying me intently from head to toe.
"Show me your teeth, Leo." She said, and I blinked at her; before baring them. She frowned and stepped back at what she saw; I started running my tongue over my teeth to try and figure out what said problem was; wait, I have more then one row? I shifted Gossamer and sapphire to one arm and reached into my mouth with the other hand, feeling about with my tongue and fingers. I had three sets of very very sharp teeth, and my eyes widened. Then I felt a sudden jerk, before all I was feeling was gum.
I pulled my finger out of my mouth, looking at some glimmering saliva on my clawed hand. I stuck out my tongue as far as I could go-- holy, it's so much longer then before. I felt around it with my hand, and then I made it twitch some, and my tongue split in half, halfway along it's length. This made me slurp my tongue back into my mouth,
"Dragon traits!" I declared. I felt, or heard, a snik and my teeth were back-- I narrowly avoided biting my tongue. "I have dragon traits!"
"No wonder it sounded like I was being hissed at by a dragon." Said Isabella. She glanced back at the scroll. She sighed. "This is my responsibility. I should have checked the scrolls before I handed them out." She glanced to me. "How do you feel? Do you hurt?" She asked.
My stomach growled, and I winced at the feeling. I had eaten nought but an hour and a half ago, yet I felt like I hadn't eaten in days. "I'm really hungry." I said, thinking for a moment. "For some reason, Deadly Nightshade sounds really good right now. I have no idea why." I looked down at myself. "Might I look myself over in the mirror to see what else has changed?"
Isabella blinked, then nodded. "There's a bathroom on this floor. Come come." She said, leading the way down a hall towards the bathroom. She gestured to the door.
"We will wait out here for you. And make sure no one stumbles in on you." She said, gesturing to herself and Larissa. I nodded and headed into the bathroom. It was weird heading into an actual woman's bathroom without someone sneering at me.
-----
Once Leo vanished into the bathroom, Isabella looked at the scroll again, before looking to Larissa. "Do you remember how the spell went?" She asked Larissa. "What did the lines look like? What happened with both of you entered the circle? Spare no details."

Larissa watched Leo poke around at his teeth and tongue. She was a bit shocked when his teeth retracted and then reappeared, and a little repulsed when his tongue split in two. She blinked when he announced he had dragon traits. "What does that mean?" she mumbled, looking from him to Isabelle and then back again. He didn't have wings. Would he grow those, too?
Relief washed over her when Isabelle said that the scrolls were her responsibility. So, she wasn't being blamed for it. But she still felt guilty. She'd pulled him into the ward and this would not have happened if she'd just been more careful. She listened to Leo speak and frowned, petting Poff. "But that's poison. Why would you want to poison yourself? Or are dragons immune to that?" She asked softly. He asked the teacher if he could look in a mirror and she led them to the bathrooms on this floor. She waited outside with Miss Isabelle as he went into the women's restroom. No one was around right now. They were all outside, or probably had run for shelter when it started storming. She wondered how they were all doing with their summoned creatures.
She was shaken out of her thoughts by Miss Isabelle, who had the scroll in her hands. "Um, I remember we had to make special ink for it. With nightshade, octopus ink, a crushed peridot, and a few other things. Leo drew the symbols and I helped. They looked pretty but they were difficult to draw, so I might not have drawn them correctly. I let Leo check them before we started the spell though" she paused, trying to remember. "We fell into the ward...black flames with stars in them appeared all round the edges, and then they rose up and blocked out everything. I didn't feel any different but Leo got hot, and he was shaking really hard. When the flames cleared, he was like this. Nothing changed for me". She recalled something else suddenly "Oh wait. Leo said something before we started. He said, he said the scroll was weird and that it didn't show the result on it or something".

Isbella looked at the scroll, reading it with a frown as she listened to Larissa. "No, it doesn't." She said. "Every summoning ward scroll should describe exactly what's going to happen, and what should be summoned." She said. She rolled up the scroll and waved it comically at Larissa. "If you or Leo see anything else that is off, like it's not written properly or something like that, let a teacher know."
------
I found myself standing kind of awkwardly in a woman's bathroom. One wall was lined with mirrors; this was the same for the guy's bathrooms too. This is a magic school, so I guess people getting turned into weird things was fairly common. I glanced at the door and sighed, before setting Gossamer and Sapphire aside. They were doing their best to comfort me in this time of confusion.
I washed my hands before starting to strip. I stood in front of the mirrors, looking myself over; my eyes were still green, but slitted. My hair was long and wavy, reaching down past my ankles. Yet as long and heavy as it was, it didn't feel like a strain to bear. Would take forever to brush, I think. I turned around and brushed the hair out of the way, and four tiny wings decorated my back, as well as a short tail. I stared at them. These would be more fitting on a dragon hatchling then on me! Their scales glittered like my nails--darkly glittering like a garnet and flecked with white.
My gaze traveled downward. I had a ponch. A ponch... when I was very fit and lean before? That didn't make any sense. I still had my rod, which at least made me happy. But I might as well check...
Yep. I have both sets of equipment. I just don't understand why I would be turned into a woman. This was supposed to be a summoning spell-- it had all the trappings of a summoning spell. So why did it turn me into--- .....
I looked down at the ponch. I gulped. Dare I check?
I sighed and held out my hand, reciting an incantation. An orb, like a bubble, formed in my hand. I hesitated-- before lowering my hand down to my tummy. It started to glow brightly, confirming it.
By the gods. I'm pregnant. I stopped, looking at my own reflection. If I'm pregnant, then Larissa must be too. If the ink used both of our blood... then we are genetic donors for each-other's children. I covered my mouth with a hand. I'm pregnant with her children and she must be pregnant with mine!
I started to dress again, putting on the pants and slightly adjusting them to fit. The shirt just wouldn't, so I put on the vest and stowed the shirt away into my bag, letting my jacket drape over my shoulders. Once fully dressed I stepped out of the bathroom, Gossamer and Sapphire still in the blanket.
Isabella turned to look at me. She blinked. "Leo?" She asked. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
I laughed weakly. "Ha. Ha ha. Yeah." I said, shaking my head. "That spell does have all the trappings of a summoning spell, right?"
Isabella nodded. "But... nothing came."
"Oh. Something came." I said. "I'm pregnant with... whatever came. It likely is being influenced by my dragon heritage." I said. I looked to Larissa. "You likely are too."
I held up the spell, used for detecting if a young woman is in the early stages of pregnancy. "If I may... check?" I asked.

She nodded solemnly at Miss Taylor's words, "O-of course, Miss Taylor" If she saw anything else that was off or suspicious, she'd report it. But Leo would probably be better at spotting them than her. She figured she could learn, though.
Leo was taking his time in the bathroom and she didn't want to rush him or anything, so she waited patiently, talking to Poff and petting her now and then. Second class of the first day and already something went wrong! What kind of bad luck did she have? Although, Leo was roped into this too, maybe he got affected by her bad luck.
Leo finally emerged, but he looked worse than when he went in. Maybe his new appearance was a really big shock to him? She knew she'd be shocked too in the same situation. She listened to Miss Isabelle and Leo talk to each other and gasped softly, covering her mouth, when he said he was pregnant. She was even more stunned when he said she probably was too. "Check? Uhh...ahhh...whaaa!!" she yelled and waved her hands, turning bright red "I can't be! I- I can't be" she spluttered, suddenly feeling very scared and alarmed. She took a step back, wide eyes staring at the orb in his hand like it was a scary spider, not a harmless test.
Poff chirred worriedly and patted her arm with one paw. Larissa looked down at her "Um...it's okay. I'm fine" she said, calming a little "Okay, you can do the test. But I don't know how I'm gonna react if it's positive" she said, sounding a bit shaken up. She came here to study, not to have a kid! The only experience she had with them was when she did babysitting when she was younger, or around her friends' younger siblings. There was no way she was ready for a baby. At least she wasn't part dragon. And a different gender. But this was still alarming!

LArissa didn't take it as well as I had hoped she would. Then again, she seems to be a very passionate person who gets flustered rather easily. I watched her step back, sputtering and staring at the test spell like it was one of the creepy crawlies she so feared.
Soon enough though, she calmed; after Poff soothed her some. She was still shaken by the news, clearly. Isabella just looked on, recognizing the spell and nodding as she stepped out of the way.
"It's better to know then to not too." I said, gently. She told me that she would let me do so, and I stepped forward, keeping my movements slow and gentle.
And indeed, the orb glowed brightly upon nearing her tummy. I leaned back, looking at the orb, before it vanished. "That's a positive." I looked at Larissa a moment, before handing Gossamer and Sapphire to Isabella and hugging Larissa with both arms in an attempt to comfort her.
I... I didn't know what to do. We were in collage and we're pregnant! And I didn't even get a night of fun to go with it!
"If it helps." Isabella said, looking on at the both of us. "I can arrange for a bigger room. That is, if you want to keep the children. There's always another option..." The woman trailed off.
She glanced at the scroll, and sniffed it before wincing. Whatever she had smelled, she didn't like it.

Passionate was right. She was ruled easily by her emotions, especially anger, but that was always quick to come and go. Usually with explosive results and much regret later. If you waited till she calmed down first, she was much easier to deal with. She watched Leo move closer, and seemed to resign herself to being tested, nodding a little at his words, with a soft noise of unhappy assent.
She had to stop thinking of him as Leo, but he didn't have any other name yet. She watched the orb glow brightly and frowned. Sure enough, Leo announced it was positive. She had sort of zoned out from shock, but she realised someone was hugging her and blinked a few times to clear her vision, seeing it was her friend and gingerly hugging back."Thank you" she whispered softly, voice sounding small. Isabella spoke up again and she looked at her.
It took a few seconds to register what she just said. She gasped then shook her head, trying to bring herself out of her shocked state "No!" she yelled and then stopped. "...I mean...no. A life is a life, even if it was made by accident. ....A bigger room would be great. Or a house. I don't know if a baby would fit in a room, and that's if there's only one. That test didn't tell us how many we're having" Poff stood on tiptoe and licked her cheek. She cradled the soft kitten and kissed her head, feeling her calming her down.
"I might be able to find an apartment or a small house for us if Leo's willing to share the rent, and if my parents find out I'm expecting. They won't take it well, but they'll help me"

Isabella frowned at Larissa's reaction. I meanwhile just continued to hug her, as Poff gave the woman little sandpaper kitty kisses. I frowned as I found Isabella looking at me.
"Um." I said. Was she expecting such a reaction out of me? I don't even know if I want to keep the child, though I get the feeling Larissa would never forgive me if I did go that route.
Isabella sighed. "I'm not going to push either of you to change your decision." She said. But she lifted the scroll. "But I do want you to make an educated one. I suspect foul play. This scroll smells of Demonic magic."
Instinctively I felt my grip tighten just a little on Larissa. "No." I had hissed again, hadn't I?
"Yes." She responded. "Us teachers are specifically trained to detect demonics. If this was a mere accident, which I doubt, I would leave you both be to figure out your futures, together or apart. But do know that if you keep them, you are putting two or more innocent lives in danger. Who ever put this scroll in that box? They want you to keep the children. They want a little, defenseless angelic being to be brought into the world, their parents none the wiser."
"Oh gods." I said, putting my hand over my mouth. Abort them now and... or bring them in and put them at risk of a worse fate?
"Now..." Isabella started. "There is a third option." She said, looking at us both. "Forestalling. It's a recent spell developed for collage girls who get a little more frisky then they intended, and end up with some unforeseen consequences."
"... You've got my attention." I said.
"It's essentially putting the children into stasis." She said. "You remain at whatever stage of the pregnancy you cast it at, until you choose to lift it. Then it will proceed as normal. It's safe, for both mother and child."
I scratched my chin. "Are you sure?"
"Very. I am the woman who invented the spell after all." She said. Well, that certainty explains her motherly figure.
"You...?" I asked. She didn't strike me as the type.
"Phoenix eggs." She said, matter-of-factly. "There's always a demand for a healthy human women to incubate endangered species, both magical and mundane. I have one human child. The rest of my 'children' are magical creatures like Phoenixes, Quetzes, and the like."
"And the spell lasts indefinitely?" I asked.
"Mmhmm. Turn on, Turn off. It's that simple.... I wish I had this spell when I was going to collage." She said, pulling a pair of different scrolls out of her bag; handing one to each of it. The parchment on these were newer, fresher. "You don't have to use them, but it is an option. At least until the danger passes."
I accepted the two scrolls. She then handed me Sapphire and Gossamer, and I had an arm full of familiars and scrolls and my other arm still wrapped around Larissa.
"I will be requesting that your schedules get changed around to include Defense against Demonics. As such you both are excused from classes for the day, on my word." Isabella said. "Expect the new schedules to find you sometime this evening. Until next time... Good health and good luck." She bobbed her head and walked back towards the stairs.
I watched her go, before I shuffled the stuff around in my arms and I stuffed the two scrolls into my bag. I then headed for the girl's bathroom door again.
"Comon. I'm not letting us be sitting ducks. Open up, Aria!" I said, knocking on the door three times before shoving it open with my shoulder. Beyond... was a garden. Birds twittered and sung as I held the door open for Larissa. It was a spacious place, with flowers blooming in waves of rainbow color; a stream wound through the garden to make a peaceful trickling; a bridge crossed over it. A weeping cherry tree arced over the path towards the mansion sitting at the other end of the garden. The mansion was large, spacious and was three stories tall and had a balcony overlooking the garden.
I smiled back at her through the door. "This is my humble abode. I don't know if you've heard about these, but this is a Suppressed Space." I said. "I call her Aria."
When Larissa stepped in I let the door close, and the door turned into the garden gate. Sapphire and Gossamer were looking around in awe.
With my free hand I pulled off my boots, and dropped them on the ground. There was a short pause, before the boots righted themselves and walked off towards the house.

She listened to the conversation between Leo and Miss Isabella. She didn't know why she was frowning at her, but soon found out. She appreciated Leo's hug, but she felt frozen to the spot. All she could do was cradle Poff close, stroking her to stay calm, and listen with a worried expression. She didn't blame Leo for hesitating at the question they were posed, it wasn't an easy choice to make for most people. Because of her beliefs, though, it was easy for her. A life was a life, no matter how small and insignificant it may be. She was relieved that the teacher wasn't going to push them on their decisions. It took time to mull over these things and look at what the right choice was.
"Demonic magic" Larissa whispered, her already pale face and expression showing that she was both alarmed and afraid. She flinched at Leo's hiss but didn't try to shrink back or anything. She heard what Miss Isabella said next and bit her lip. But she still felt sure she was making the right choice. If she deleted whatever was already inside her now, she was killing them as surely as the demons would. She wouldn't do that. If she had to die trying to protect them...if it came down to that...she didn't know if she could fight them off but she'd try her best.'We will be wiser parents now though. Since you've told us' she thought, while at the same time Leo uttered a horrified remark.
The teacher got their attention with a third option. Larissa listened to the back and forth conversation between her friend and Miss Isabella. She didn't know what to think of that. It would save her trouble for a little while, and Isabella said it was safe...but she didn't quite feel comfortable altering someone else's fate like that. What if there was a set time this child or children was meant to be born, and she interfered with their destiny by changing it? It was a small thing, she knew, but it made her unsure all the same. For her own convenience, would she forestall another person's life? Was that the right thing to do? And even if she kept them inside her body permanently, there was nothing to stop the demons kidnapping her. She'd need to talk it over with Leo before making any decision.
They ended up getting the rest of the day off, and a new defense class. And learning that their teacher carried phoenix eggs sometimes and had a child of her own. Kind of a lot to take in all in one sitting. She stayed on the floor, watching Miss Isabella leave. Leo had let go of her to take the scrolls and he shuffled around a bit, putting them away. He headed for the bathroom and, not knowing what else to do, she got up and followed, still cuddling Snow Poff. She watched in amazement when the door opened to reveal not a women's restrooms but instead a place of beauty and peace, with a nice big house.
"Aria" she whispered softly, nuzzling her cheek on Poff's soft fur. "It's breath taking" Her voice was soft and subdued. She followed Leo inside further, and turned to see behind them was no longer a door, but a garden gate. She turned back to Leo and scrunched her face up unhappily, closing her eyes "I don't know what to do. I need time to think all this over. What should we do?" she asked, sounding confused, afraid, sad, and conflicted. "Is there somewhere we can sit down and have a soothing cup of tea? My nerves are shot" she said, still shaking mildly, and looking very tired all of a sudden. Poff purred quietly, and snuggled into her partner's warm embrace.

"Yes, there is infact." I said, gently leading Larissa towards the house. Beyond the doors was a large foyer, with shiny marble floors that were a pale white marble; the walls clean and pale, with clean pale (but intricate) creme and black molding.
At the end of the foyer were two staircases that swept up, and then turned into a tighter spiral staircase towards the third floor. The two upper floors had cream and black railing, which also extended into the railings of the staircases. I led her to a door which was intricately carved, and inside we went.
It was a parlor. Cozy. A table fancy, plush soft reclining chairs, and there was already a pot of tea that was gently steaming and two teacups.
I lead her into the room and the teacups floated into the air, and the teapot floated into the air and poured two cups of tea; they then floated near the chairs, waiting to be accepted.
I ushered Larissa in and lead her over to one of the chairs. I then went over to the other chair, settling down Gossamer and Sapphire down on said table. I sat down and accepted the cup out of the air.
"Well... we do have time. A little bit." I said. I sat back and sipped my tea. "After all, pregnancies take about 9 months... maybe longer depending on the child and the mother, right?" I mused. "We don't have to cast the spells right away. We have at least, two, tree months before they start to show. We can take that time to decide what we want to do."
I sat there, holding my teacup as the fragrance of chamomile and honey soothed away the tension that had formed in my back without my realizing it.
I then opened my eyes to look at Larissa. I could continue musing, but that might stress her out more. This might be more fitting to contemplate later, when we both had calmed down fully.
"For now though, I welcome you to Aria." I said to Larissa, gesturing to the room and to the house. "No rent to worry about, and she is secure. No one who means harm to me or my guests can get on the property."
I held out my cup and the teapot poured more tea into it. "Aria has almost everything. I'll have her set aside a room for you if you want. We'll still have to get food and stuff, but other then that, we should be good!" I grinned.
I then paused and looked down at myself. "... And I should probably get some new clothes." I sat back with a sigh; I could feel the vest I was wearing protesting against the movement. And then a button popped. "All of my old clothes were fitted!" I complained.

She followed Leo through the lovely garden and into the enormous house. She looked around with awe at how beautiful everything was. It all looked very expensive and she wondered how Leo got it and how he could afford it. Maybe his family created it with their magic and gave it to him. Or maybe Leo made it all on his own. She knew he had powerful magical abilities. She was looking forward to that cup of tea. She followed him into the parlour and was led over to one of the plush recliner chairs. She thanked Leo softly before sinking down into it with a sigh, putting Poff on her lap. She waited for her friend to get themselves some tea first before picking up her own filled tea cup and cradling it in her hands. She took a few sips of the soothing beverage and leaned back, starting to relax.
She listened to Leo and nodded slightly "Yeah, I guess we do" she consented. "I just don't know how I feel about using such a spell. I'm conflicted" she admitted, frowning and taking another gulp of tea. "Two or three months might be enough time to decide, I just don't know"
She looked up when Leo welcomed her to Aria, and smiled a little "Thank you. I'm glad this is a safe place. We might need to use it a lot in the coming months. If demons are involved, we need a safe place to hide". She held out her cup as well, watching more steaming tea trickle into it. She took the cup gently and sipped at it, the hot liquid very calming on her frayed nerves. Leo spoke again and she listened. He told her Aria has almost everything. "Well that's good. Oh, yeah, that would be good if you could set aside a room for me. I'd appreciate it" she said, "What is this place, exactly? Did you make it? And you called it a 'she'. Does that mean it's...she's, alive or sentient in some way? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just curious to know about the place we'll be staying".
She watched Leo look down at his new figure and the poorly fitting clothes. A button flew off his strained-to-the-limits vest and pinged across the table, landing in her tea with a plop. Larissa giggled a bit and so did Poff, in the little kitten titter that sounded both funny and adorable. "Definitely get new clothes!" she chortled a bit more, since the vest now exposed Leo's new boobs a bit.
"And I think you'll need some good bras, too" She stopped giggling and set her tea cup down, fishing out the button and putting it on the table. Poff stood up on her lap and stood on her hind paws, leaning her front paws on the table then trying to swipe at it with her right paw. Larissa picked her up and put her on the table. The kitten familiar started to play with the button, chasing it all around the table top. Larissa looked at Leo again "Which reminds me. Leo...I can't keep calling you Leo. Since you don't look like a guy any more it feels weird. What are we going to call you? Should I call you Leonie instead?"

"Well, I'm sure the resulting decision will be the result of a good long theological and philosophical debate." I said, watching her. "Which will be a topic for another day."
When she asked about Aria, I shrugged, watching her fish the button out of her cup. "She's a Suppressed Space. A pocket dimension that also functions as a Genius Loci. She indeed has a mind and a soul of her own. The property and house is alive. I call her 'she' because... well... it's a polite way of referring to the house, I suppose. Any gender pronoun or 'they' typically works." In floated another teacup, into which more tea was poured and offered to Larissa. "Though. I tend to get a more 'she' vibe from Aria."
I frowned at my strained vest, tugging at the string that had once bore a button. I sat back when she asked about my name, and I shrugged. "Bras? Bah. I feel like I should be more upset about this change, yet I'm feeling pretty chill about it. As for the name... I'll be honest, I'm not particularly fond of the way it sounds. Leo is the name of the lion prince of the stars, after all. How about..."
Gods. I felt like I was to come up with a new name on the spot. I liked Leo. I didn't like Leonie much. And I've been a woman barely 10 minutes. I sat back with a sigh, considering, before I saw the dark red glimmer of my claws; short, but clearly crystalline.
I lifted up my free hand, looking at my claws. Only one dragon I recall can retrct their teeth, and they're able too... I felt the muscles in my fingers flex, and the claws grew out almost an extra inch; gleaming in the light. I looked at them.
"Garnet." I said after a moment, considering; I then got them to retract fully, and it looked like I had no nails at all on one hand. "Garnet Leo Ameras." I mused. "I like that name."

"Yeah, maybe" she said, still not quite sure about it all. She didn't like the idea of messing with someone else's life, even if they weren't fully a person yet. Putting them on hiatus seemed kind of wrong to her. But if it was for their safety, then maybe she would. It wasn't an easy choice to make.
"But who made her? Where do suppressed spaces, alternate dimensions, where do they come from?" she asked casually. She took the new cup of tea with a soft thank you."If she has a mind and a soul, does that mean she's a person? Or used to be a person?" she paused for a moment. "What's a Genius Loci?" she blinked, puzzled at the term. She'd never heard it before.
"Hmm" she mused, when she said she was fairly calm about her transformation, then went on to talk about names. She listened to her tell the meaning of Leo and smiled "That's pretty. I thought it was something to do with lions, but prince of the stars I didn't know. It...it's nice" she said.
She watched her as she tried to decide on a new name, testing her claws out.
"Garnet. I like that. It suits you, with your claws and your hair colour" she said. "And I like gems and crystals so that makes it even better" she finished her tea and set the cup down, leaning back in her chair. "I missed my first crystal magic class, which I'm disappointed about. I'm an elemental witch and I use the earth element but, not like the usual people do; I use the jewels of the earth, the pretty rocks and stones that nature makes. Honestly, I can't do a whole lot yet but I've been reading about crystallokinesis and I want to specialise in that area. But now I don't know how much I'll be able to learn"
Poff had sprawled on the table, in a small patch of sunlight that streamed in from the windows overlooking the gardens. Larissa reached over and petted her. "What are we going to do?" she placed her hand on her belly and felt around, concentrating, but couldn't feel any movements "How far along are we? You have a small belly, and I already had a belly, so it's hard to tell"

"It's.... hard to explain." I said. "It delves deep into hardcore physics and how it reacts with magic." I said. "But the space itself is created when you take a Point A" I held up a hand "And a point B" and I lifted my other hand. "What's the fastest way to get from point A to Point B? A straight line, right?"
"There is another way. It involves folding the space between the two points to make A and B closer together. This is called a tesseract." I put my forearms together and then my hands closer. "Someone figured out that when they unfold the space, a pocket of empty dimensional space is left behind. Usually unstable. By the intense application of magic they can craft and form the contents of this pocket; and if there is enough magic pumped into the place, two things will happen." I said, holding up two fingers, before picking up my teacup and taking a sip. I had drained my cup. "A; the space within the pocket becomes infinite. Aria's estate limits are the fences for the grounds, but those grounds can stretch and warp to provide space as needed. This is because there's no other space outside get in the way of her expanding if she needs too. And magic... it does weird and crazy things. Sometimes it can be predictable though; enough magic in one place and that magic coalesces and takes on a mind of it's own. You can see this in magical libraries, or those good second-hand bookshops that seem to stretch on forever while filled to the brim with used books. You could say that her mind and soul are a side effect of making the Suppressed Space in the first place." The teapot poured more tea into my cup, and I smiled. "Though that was a very welcome effect and I am very glad I have a companion here. As for how she was made... well, I didn't make the pocket where she came from. But I supplied a lot of the magic myself to stabilize the pocket dimension as a team of builders built the mansion around me. I continued to pour magic into her for a full year, nearly draining myself to the limit every time. And when her mind and soul formed... it was chaos."
I sat back, thinking of when the mansion had gained her mind and power. "It was at the full year mark. The mansion had been built, the garden planted and tended, and the mansion already had the ability to link itself to any space I chose. It also had the ability to temporarily take the 'spot' of pre- existing dimensional space on our world, without destroying or erasing what was already there. I had been living in this mansion for a good... 6, 8 months. I was putting the last of the magic into the ward that was keeping the dimension stable... when the ward vanished under me. Items, of all types and kinds started flying about all on their own, like a telekinetic was throwing a tantrum. I had accidentally triggered a soul ritual."
I looked over at the walls and ceiling of the room, with a sigh. "This whole space started as an experiment. But not just anyone could preform it; to see if one can actually take a left-over pocket space from a tesseract experiment and see if anything could be done with it... not everyone has the magical reserves that are large enough and regenerate fast enough to maintain a space like this. My family was approached because they believed that we had the reserves for such an experiment, nor a mind for magic that could understand what was being attempted, as every other try failed. I was the only one interested... and I told them that if they could provide the pocket and the research, that I would do the experiment myself and see what happens. I did my research, came up with a ward, and was able to stabilize the space enough that ground would form. Soon enough I realized I could make a home here, so that's when the mansion was built. I've been calling Aria home ever since."
She did like the name. Thankfully. I smiled as I sipped my drink; I hadn't intended to align the name with something she liked, though it did fit with my claws and hair. I nodded as I sat up, listening to her. "Crystalkinesis. That's a very fascinating field. I'm sure it will keep you busy with all the things you can do with it. Are you planning on sticking with rare gems, precious and semiprecious stones, or perhaps some of the more common stones like granite and marble? They have their own innate properties too."
And of course, the worrying about how far along we are. Yeah... she doesn't seem to have changed at all, yet I've already sprouted several differences, among them was my very slight ponch. I closed my eyes and felt my tummy; I could feel a tiny knot right where the ponch was.
"Well..." I said after a moment. "Um. Well, I... I think we're both roughly a few weeks after conceiving." I knew because now that I think about it, if she can't feel hers... "Either my children are a different size then yours, or... I have more of them."
