He fidgeted with his food, giving an uneasy glance at Alphonse, before taking a bite. "Aren't you a cop?" he pointed out, before swallowing, looking a little self conscious at his lack of manners, "Shouldn't you be making sure it's not stealing? Since that's a crime and all." He eyed Ashley skeptically, before going back to his food. He looked uncomfortable at the man's "honesty", and his expression hardened and grew more angry, fittingly, at the explanation.
He scoffed, looked away, then shot a glare at the last comment. "Whatever. Why are you even still here?" he asked, despite the fact that.... he had followed him over. Mostly, though, he meant why Ashley was still talking to him, and why his pokemon had followed him to begin with. "I suppose. Though one is more intense then ze other… which seems a waste to swap between all ze same." Ashley shrugged. He wasn’t in the mood to argue dictionary definitions on emotion states with a thirteen-year-old; mostly because he’d already lost his cool once with this thirteen-year-old and he’d be damned if he did it again.
He finished off another chunk of muffin, about half way through the thing by now, when Adder posed his question. Ashley stopped, staring blankly a moment before an eyebrow arched slightly at the question. He lowered his food a moment, lightly brushing away and crumbs from his mouth with a napkin before speaking.
"As I have informed you before, I am not a cop," he remarked in a matter-of-fact tone. It was surprising to him that Adder was still pushing that angle; Ashley had stated as such several times before during that… rather tense confrontation. He might’ve been an a*****e but he was no liar and the last thing he’d ever do was claim to be a member of the law. That had its own repercussions that he wasn’t interested in dealing with. He worked with them in important detailed sectors, but that was the extent of what he could claim regarding ‘law’ enforcement. At least as far as Interpol was concerned. He resumed eating with that clarification out of the way, not bothering with the remained of the question regarding the Audino’s potential crime. It might’ve been something, if it happened. Instead, he focused in on the growing tension on Adder’s face as well as Pan helping herself onto the table to assist with his food.
"I am simply thinking of a fitting demand for reparations," Ashley remarked, finishing off the food and crumbling the wrapper. He eyed Adder, expression serious. "You stole my property, wasted my time and I would say caused me undo distress… but I am not a wuss like that." Which was about the extent of his reason for still being there. Really, he could go back to his computer (he probably… should’ve?) but at this moment the actions of this child had annoyed him enough to shift focus. Or he was bored enough that antagonizing a child for a period was better than work. Or something nonsensical; it didn’t always make sense.
Though he was being honest about the reparations thing; if only because such foolishness was healthy. "Are your parents aware you are running around doing these kinds of things?"

Adder didn't bother commenting on the word thing. He had a sour thought -- a simple, 'Whatever' but there was no use actually speaking up. He frowned at the reminder, took a deep breath, then gestured, trying not to huff as he did. "You know what I mean. You're a fed. That means you're at least not supposed to be breaking the law, right? Or approving or allowing your pokemon to commit crimes?" he insisted stubbornly.
Almost immediately, though, he deadpanned at the answer he got for his own questions. Eventually, he snapped out of it, looking irritated and flabbergasted. "Wh... what? I already explained that to you! Just 'cause you're too dumb to understand..." he muttered, glaring. He folded his arms over his chest, all but abandoning his food. "You might as well leave, then. The way to Hau'oli was straightforward enough, with a paved over path to follow. Naomi kept to said path, but while his feet didn't stray his eyes certainly did, and he took the chance to take in the area. There were quite a few more grassy patches here, perfect for wild pokemon to hide in, but it wasn't an entirely natural area, and to his surprise Naomi found himself coming up on a small motel, with a Pokémon Center attached to it. Rotom perked up at the latter and swung himself around so that he was directly in front of Naomi, "if you want, you can heal up that Cutiefly you caught earlier in that building over there." Naomi directed his attention to the building, then nodded before swinging over to it.

They slid apart the moment Naomi stepped onto its mat, and together he and Ieyasu entered while Sousa stayed behind, preferring the open air over the enclosed space. Rotom continued once inside, "just talk to that woman behind the counter, she'll help you out; since it's her job and whatever." Naomi did as instructed and approached the counter, and with a nod and a smile he unclipped a single pokeball before handing it over. "Good evening," he greeted, and the pink-haired woman returned the favor with a smile of her own.

The woman--or nurse, since she was donned in the appropriate attire--turned away to begin healing his pokemon, or at least that was what Naomi assumed anyway. Whatever she did, it was quick, and his pokemon was returned to him within minutes. Though surprised at her swiftness, Naomi didn't forget to thank the woman before he bid her farewell and left the center. Those were certainly convenient little areas. Rotom looked back at the Pokémon Center, expression for once devoid of any sour emotion, before he turned around. "You can usually find Pokémon Center's in any town or city you visit, though here in Alola you can find them on routes too, like this," he prattled on, aware of how chatty he was being. "On top of being a place to heal your pokemon, Center's like these sometimes offer rooms for trainers to stay in."
Though Naomi had been listening, and attentively at that, up until that point, he raised an eyebrow in surprise at Rotom. "They allow trainers to stay the night?" he inquired. "Yeah, sometimes more," Rotom replied. "Hey! Don't give me that look, I'm doing you a favor. Just because somethin' is free doesn't mean you oughta take it, I bet those rooms see hundreds of people a week! And I only saw one nurse working that stand, how often do you think they change the bedsheets, huh?" Rotom shook his head. "Humans are gross, kid, you should know that. We're better off finding a hotel or something." Naomi regarded Rotom curiously, not sure if he should've thanked him for his 'thoughtful' consideration. "I do have enough funds to pay for a room..." he eventually spoke, thoughtfully trailing off. "Yeah, see? It's better this way. Trust me. An' look! We're already here at Hau'oli City, so no use in turning back now," he pointed out.
Naomi looked past Rotom, and to where the city limits could already be seen. Another rush of excitement found him, and, in his head, he concluded that this was the best option. He wouldn't have been satisfied with staying in just any room, even if that room was free, not when his goal had been Hau'oli this entire time. And now, they'd made it.

Adder blinked and his face quickly contorted into confusion. It.... huh? But weren't.... Didn't the feds reinforce the law, too? Ashley noted the confusion on Adder’s face and had to resist the urge to smirk at it. The kid… was really confused; which was both humorous and tragic in a way. Absently, he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, shrugging. "Oui. He would be. Hypothetically." Dropping his hand, he tilted his head to look at Adder. "And I would be responsible. As an individual. Not as a cop; because I am not a cop. This is not hard to understand, non?" He wasn’t going to blame the boy for being confused; politics getting mixed in with the law and an unhealthy mixture of unrealistic television or storybooks resulted in a lot of misinformation.
That and like, all cops weren’t good to begin with. But that wasn’t something he was going to suggest given all that had already transpired.
When the boy exploded a bit in clear frustration though, he arced an eyebrow. Boy, that response. Right out from page ten of the manual on how to be a proper teen. Amusing, but once again not something he was going to show he thought as such.
"Ah… I apologize for my vagueness, mon ami," he said. "Find out how to contact your parents of course. Whether you believe it or not, they deserve to know that their son is being a hooligan. Better than ze ‘authorities’ calling them, non?" AKA, ratting him out to his parents. After all, with how adamant Adder was about preventing crimes, this was certainly a step I in the right direction for his future. Or something.

You don't have their contact information, I doubt you could get it, you don't know where they are, anyway! And I told you, they know I'm out. And I'm not being a 'hooligan'. You sound like an old man when you say that, by the way. I was just trying to make sure some sketchy, dodgy French guy didn't have a gun in public." Ashley stared blankly at Adder as he attempted to make his case, expression void of any obvious emotion. Eventually, an eyebrow arched and he shrugged looking none too impressed. "You clearly do not understand how politics work, mon ami. But that is understandable." He adjusted his glasses again. "Once again, it will still be a reflection upon myself. Not my organization," he flourished a wave of his hand to the side. "And if it were actually a possibility, I would care. But it isn’t, so I do not." And that was about all he had to say in regards to that.
The French man paused to eye the boy as he shot up and pretty much stated he wouldn’t be calling his parents, not if he had anything to do about it. "Oh?" He stared hard at Adder, smirking just a little bit at the proclamation. "That is true, though I have my ways to get such information. It is not that hard," he waved off the rest of Adder’s comment. He wasn’t falling for the run around the boy was trying to give him regarding the fact that his actions, whether he thought his parents would care or not, were the kind that usually were reported all the same. A glare did cross his face at the rather snide remark, looking disappointed at Adder.
"…Un tel enfant gâté," he muttered with a roll of his eyes. "Such a narrowminded comment. How polite of you," He turned and handed his case over to Alphonse, the Audino still watching with a dull but focused look at the conversation that occurred. "You are quite ze spoiled child. And you still fail to understand why your actions were inappropriate. Thus I feel, your parents should be informed. You may throw a hissy fit as much as you like, but that is my opinion and I will be standing by it." Ashley retorted before promptly turning his attention to the communicator at his wrist. "Your energy would be better spent developing better excuses, unless…" he paused narrowing a look at Adder as he did.

If Adder was a cartoon character, the whistling of a kettle might be audible, and steam would be beginning to pour from his ears. He was seriously getting sick of this guy's condescending attitude. If he weren't already pretty sure he was on thin ice with the guy, he might have seriously considered punching him. He was just.... incredibly infuriating. Adder was legitimately grinding his teeth as Ashe talked. "And you apparently don't understand the English language! I didn't mention you're damn organization being made to look bad!" At this point, he'd had it. This guy was a legitimate idiot. Adder was thirteen, and he was pretty sure he had more sense and logic than this jerk. He'd been able to acknowledge when he was wrong -- sort of -- but this guy just... fabricated whatever the hell he wanted out of the conversation! He was an idiot! And/or delusional. Any trust the tween might have had in the government, was certainly gone now.
Turning, he started recalling his pokemon, only giving a hard scoff at the mention of getting information. "Yeah, whatever. Good luck with that," he muttered. He ignored everything else Ashe said -- quite blatantly, too -- and turned, leaving only Pan out as he moved ot leave. He only stopped to give him a condescending glare at the trail off. What the hell. "Unless what?" he asked with scathing sarcasm. He highly doubted there was anything to that. The guy was probably just being a jerk. And yet, Adder was falling for it all the same.

Ashley rolled his eyes and … broke into a bit of a smirk. This kid looked like he was on the verge of popping a blood vessel with how hard he was raging. It really shouldn’t have been amusing and it was rather petty on his part to continue to agitate but well… this was vindication and he felt no qualms about it. He could’ve pointed out some petty flaws in Adder’s claim to continue to annoy but he just shrugged.
"Je suppose que je ne le fais pas. Je suppose que je vais simplement parler dans la langue que je comprends.*" He responded in French, giving Adder a looked that seem to suggest that if he was going to complain about language, then he’d be happy to oblige in some other way. While still being an a*****e. One thing was for certain, as petty as he was getting, Ashley wasn’t going to be the one walking away from this.
Which seemed about possible. He watched as Adder returned his pokemon leaving out the Munchlax and made to start moving to leave. He eyed him a moment before slowly dropping his wrist down, placing his hands on his hips. He stared hard at the boy; he was still rather impressed that Adder dignified that with a response, even if it was horrendously sarcastic. So much hate. Good.
"You apologize. Properly. For what you have done." He spoke, not using French because that would’ve defeated the purpose of this proposition. His tone was serious and he eyed Adder expectantly; really, he was curious what he’d do at this point. Alphonse, who was still idling by watching the whole commotion didn’t move nor make a face beyond the passive stare he had, though his eyes did once in a while glance at Pan to assure she didn’t like start eating the table or something.

Yep, Adder was done. Any interest he had in French was pretty much gone at this point, too, thanks to this jerk. When the man finally made his proposition, he shot him a hard scowl. Pan just stood passively by his side, staring at the space next to Alphonse, likely keeping him in her general vision, but clearly not caring enough to meet his gaze. It wasn't like there was any more food to eat... was there? No. Though... She shifted her gaze to Ashe's belongings, eying them with some consideration. It would be pretty stupid to travel without food.... But, she wasn't a thief. Not from anyone but her trainer, anyway. Not usually. She turned her head and looked away, waiting for the two children to stop their fussing.
"I'm not," he answered shortly, "I'm not apologizing." And with that, he turned, and strode towards the exit. He wasn't sorry, so he wasn't apologizing. Even if he did think he'd done wrong -- which he didn't -- his pride likely wouldn't have let him apologize anyway.
