Erin stared at the creature, with all it's limbs and all its demands and.... blinked. The creep factor definately had hit somewhere around twelve now, but she was either so scared that somehow she'd now be stuck in a time lopop - hey now, it happened once for an entire ******** video game, it was a legitimate fear okay - or if this was all actually real and holy s**t was that ice on one of the girl's legs and what the hell was it going to do if she didn't let go of the knife??
"Ah... um... maybe angering the tentacle monster is not the best idea... ah... um..." Erin said in a quiet voice, hands held at chest level in a "please don't hurt me" sort of gesture. The others were more astute at this kind of thing and all Erin really watned to do was offer to build the monster a very nice gaming rig to support all it's arms.
So not the time Erin.
She eeped a little - actually made the whole sound and everything - as Asiya walked over to the girl with knife and tried to take it from her. "B-be careful!" Erin took a few steps forward and stopped, torn about what to do now. She really didn't want to get iced...

Jeremiah was moving the moment that he say Asiya move towards Alexis. A hand reached out, caught the young girl's wrist in a surprisingly gentle grip for all that his voice was stern and serious. "I've got this." A breath, a heartbeat. "You're very brave," he added in a quieter voice, "but you should think about keeping yourself safe." The detective no longer waited, did not hesitate after letting go of Asiya. He stepped right up to Alexis, watched as their hand shook and their grip was not as strong as it once was. "This has to stop. Now." It was a quick movement, one hand grabbing at their wrist, holding it. Then the other going to pull the blade from their hand. Taking the blade only took a moment because it was clear, with that look on their face, they did not want to die here. This was fear, this was fight or flight in action. "It will be on the ground. Here. For later." Short, terse sentences. With that he was dropping the pocket knife to the ground. It landed with a quiet thunk into the soil, sticking upwards. Jeremiah looked over his shoulder to Autumn, to the creature and hoped that was enough. That it satisfied it.

It was refreshing to know that so many people were looking out for her. Asiya smiled at Erin and waved a hand at her, in an attempt to be reassuring. She would be fine. Everything would be okay!
But before anything could happen, one way or the other, Jeremiah had swooped in. With a hand on her wrist, he was clearly trying to do the gentlemanly thing: the detective didn't want Alexis to hurt her. She was not only sure of that but grateful for it, as well. She wished others could be as chivalrous.
Yet Asiya's heritage also caught up to her at this point, as well. When Jeremiah grabbed her wrist, the young woman instinctively pulled it back in a quick, sharp motion. This wasn't intentional, of course. She by no means wanted to offend him. But by the same token, an unfamiliar man touching a woman he barely knew was not accepted at all. It just wasn't done.
"Th-...thank you.." was all she managed to stammer, while hoping she hadn't offended him too much. Asiya then shuffled over by Erin, and went back to being quiet yet again. Maybe things would start to calm down once Jeremiah had the knife and the deerman was satisfied things were safe.

It blinks again, that oddly circular gesture. I am called I am called the Peaceful One whose form is Perfect Lambence When the blade is taken from Alexis, the creature--the Peaceful One--lowers its head and settles upon the ground. Our Heliodora calls us Pax Its countenance doesn't change, but there is a feeling of a frown as it says, I have caused pain? Long-hair mortals are as Our Heliodora Small mortals are as Our Heliodora What are you called by I will show you the Path Kindly One

Oh -- so the creature had a name?
That was wonderful!
Asiya's stomach seemed to flutter with happiness when she heard this, and she couldn't help but smile. Knowing what they liked to be called was way better than just referring to it as the deerman.
"Peace be with you, Pax," she told it politely, choosing to forgo her native language for the easier-to-understand English translation.
"My name is Asiya."

"Peaceful One. How beautiful," Autumn sighed, relief flooding her veins. "I knew you weren't angry. Just scared- just like me. You and I have a lot in common." She laughed a little bit here, then turned back to Chris with a smile.
"See! And you were all worried. Pax is going to help us get out of here," she called, just a little bit of humor and sunshine returning to her demeanor. Still, if the group looked close enough, Autumn was still visibly shaking, thrown off by the entire encounter. Hell of a dream, all this.
Turning back, Autumn patted Pax's head fondly, kind of enamored with the weird beastie.
"I'm Autumn. Like the season," she replied, then swept a hand back to all the group.
"Not all of us know each other, though. It's best if everyone introduces themselves, so this walk is a hell of a lot less awkward, huh?"

Zac - finally speaks, the flurry of activity and some of what the creature had said had held him very...very still. The outburst against 'she' had started to bring him out of it, a sympathetic wince, but there were things it said. "... We didn't forget..." he started to offer in his most, hopefully peaceful voice. "I mean, I came here to help, and so did Jeremiah, and..." he took a breath and let it out hoping that he had not called undue attention to himself. He had no true desire to become 'their Zac' or to be declared forgotten. 'I am called' and 'our Heliodora calls us'... but never, never once did its say my name is. That was either a translational quirk or... well just, it reminded him of something he'd read. Thing he'd always assumed were fiction, things like... magic and other worlds. "Thank you for showing us to Heliodora." He finished. "Um... You, you can call me Zed" He spoke the last part he hoped loud enough that other people might catch on that he was using that on purpose.

Algie had spent the entirety of the interactions quiet, still under his umbrella with his fingers curled tensely around Heliodora's book. He'd only stepped back slightly when the creature approached, observing as Autumn and the other handled the creature (and Alexis) admirably. He'd been ready to beat Alexis with his umbrella if he had to. A good rap on the knuckles, a sting of reality, but thankfully Jeremiah seemed to have it handled. When the thing gave it's name he noticed the same thing as Zac, and he also knew that in mythologies and literature names had power. Zac was given an approving small smile. " Professor. Heliodora knows me." She had sat in, her and her friends, on a class or two of his. Algie had closed her book and held it tightly under his arm again, "I'm the bookseller." p much everyone i was sleeping. algie so quiet and observant cause zzzzz

This was so far out of Cataleen's experience, she couldn't think of anything to do or say. She wasn't carrying any weapons on her, why would she? Were the real worlds weapons still considered weapons here? Or would they need to leave everything that contained iron here, too? Was this some kind of fairy world? Would she wake up three hundred years from now, a modern day Rip Van Winkle? Body parts, visions of pain, voices of cloying sweetness. A strange deer-like creature who could summon frost. And it was called Pax. And it wanted to know what they were called. "C-cat." Cataleen replied in a near whisper, a nickname her parents had given her. She didn't want to give Pax her real name, and she hoped none of the others had given theirs.

Jeremiah was letting out a breath, stepping away and moving back to stand next to Algie (almost expecting to be hooked by his umbrella and lead around). His lips twitched at the names given by those closest to him. The detective himself had read too much (high fantasy, mythology, and Algie's books) to be willing to part with his given name. "Detective," he offered as his name to the creature, to Pax. That had him inwardly snorting. Peace. Right. "I've been looking for Helidora for over a month." He paused. "Her and those who went missing with her are the reason I'm here." He would leave out that he was meant to bring them home. That would probably be a bad idea. Another glance towards Algie, then Zac, and he was shifting once more. Protective was an understatement.

Okay, okay. Whatever Autumn was doing, it had worked to calm the creature and they were agreeing to take them. It had even given them a name so as far as Chris was concerned, he owed Autumn big. He'd figure out how to give back later though since it- Pax, he reminded himself- wanted a name.
"Chris," He replied, "I teach at the highschool currently.
The last part was more for the benefit of everyone else than Pax. It seemed to know already and while it could have been luck, he didn't feel too fussed revealing the information.
As it was he shifted towards Autumn, inched forward a little.

Brie didn't mean to bury her face in Tory's chest, because um stranger danger, but in this whole trek, she wasn't handling anything well.
And everyone was so curious and just going a long with it and she was just...struggling to still understand. She hitched a small sound and then tried again to buck up. It could only go down from here, so she just had to deal. She pulled back and looked up at the gardener.
"Thanks." she sighed, brushing any tears from the corners of her eyes. "Sorry, It's just like. All my fears are being thrown at me right now, so I'm struggling really hard."
As they followed the tracks, it lead them to some sort of creature and she kept herself purposefully to the back.
With all that had happened in a short while, there was no words for her really to say. She didn't offer her name while others had and looked past the creature, into a woods and trying to focus on something other then what was going on. Tatterpixie I'm not sure what's going on so ovob

Peace mortal child Asiya You conceal your words from us Asiya Asiya Autumn Such a pretty calling It looks at the quartet who gave fake names, those many eyes appearing almost knowing. You do not trust We understand We are monstrous in your sight If you knew Our Heliodora Then you left her She was alone The ice hasn't receded from Alexis's body, locking them in place. Pax closes its eyes. I will teach you a little spell Autumn Autumn Do you trust this Peaceful One?

She was quiet a moment, thinking. Did she trust the peaceful one? It hadn't harmed her- had listened when she begged it still, had come out to speak to her. It was obvious, wasn't it? Autumn smiled brightly and nodded at Pax.
"I do trust you," she replied, barely a whisper. "You're the peaceful one, right? How could I not trust a name like that?"

Zac's face heated at the words, he tried to make eye contact with...the deer creature and its eerie arms but he had to let it drop. He wanted to =appologize= to it. But there were... there were stories. Hell. "Sorry... it's just... there are stories of, things, and they don't... I mean..." He sighed and let his shoulders sag slightly. He rubbed at the side of his neck. "Sorry." He repeated.
