Caron wanted to hit his head on the desk, math gah, not his favorite subject at all. Caron tried to do the assignment. He choose 2, 4, 6 and 3, 5, 7 Caron just about hit his head on the table as he worked on the math. He likely had the answer wrong. He sighed and started counting in his head. 12 and 15 and add those together. 27 right?? That seemed even to Caron, but it had a 7 at the end of the number so Caron guessed odd.

Even: 2, 4, 6 = 12

Odd: 3, 5, 7 = 15

Answer: 27 and Caron sorta thinks it's odd..

Jonah was fairly confident about his math skills, so he went into the math class and nodded to his twin doing his own class work. Jon listened to the teacher and sat down to begin his class work as well. Jonah chose 22, 66, and 88 for his even numbers and he chose 33, 57, and 89 for his odd numbers. Then he marked down on his paper.

1
22
66
+88
----------
176

Then Jonah marked down his next math problem..

1
33
57
+89
------------
178

Then Jonah wrote down
1 1
176
+178
-----------
354

Once he was done with that, Jonah concluded the answer to his assignment was even.

Math was definitely not one of favorite classes, leaning on her desk she rolled her pencil slightly side to side as she watched her teacher and listened to the task being set to herself and her peers. Evens and Odds... even worse why couldn't it be really simple stuff. Oh well let get it done she thought to herself as she pulled out a fresh piece of paper... Odd numbers, those were the ones that.. she squinted her eyes shut in thought, The ones that weren't able to be cut in half and share with a friend. Nylea opened her eyes again and started writing numbers 3 7 11. She stopped for a moment in thought and stuck her tongue out from the corner of her mouth in thought. If she couldn't share odds then evens could be, she started to write again 2 6 10. Okay that was done, now what, oh yes add them all up.

2 + 6 + 10 + 3 + 7 + 11 =

She looked at her numbers and frowned, there had to be an easier way to do this. Nylea looked up and around at all her peers who were seeming to do this with ease even the ones who were already heading back to their chairs from turning the work in and she frowned. She really did not like math, looking back to her numbers she tried again. Two plus six she thought about doing this a little at a time, looking down at her hands she started to count it silently on her fingers. That was..... eight. She wrote the numbers under her last line

02
+6
-----

0
8

Okay, next... eight and ten... she started to write them

008
+10
-----

0
18

She continued this process of the two numbers at a time filling her page with little adds ... 18 and 3... 21... 21 and 7... 28 ... and finally 28 and 11

028
+11
-----

0
39

Nylea stared at the final number... was this shareable with a friend? well she knew 3 was not shareable, and 9 was not shareable... so she decided in her mind that this number must not be... and wrote...

ODD

Satisfied that this might be the right answer she wrote her name on her page and nodded to herself as she got up and took her paper to the teacher's desk then returned to her seat once more.

Response: (a+b) 2 = a 2 + 2ab + b 2

Decran stared at the formula he’d copied down. He wrinkled his nose and shook his head as he tried to figure out what it all meant. Letters did not belong in math. Decran thought he didn’t belong in math. He couldn’t blame Zephyr for how he’d found him when they’d first met. Math was a subject that didn’t agree with him. But he took it because he had to. Sighing he glanced up from his paper and waited for his teacher’s next instructions.

User ImageAloe's first though was about her plants "I use math to measure the ph lvs in the soil I work with, with the plants that require certain ph levels in the soil to thrive. Umm though I don't think about it much I guess I use math to measure the amount of water I use to water my plants without over watering them." Aloe paused and then said "Flying I think requires math too, so I can estimate my altitude and not cash." She rubbed the back of her head "Though I still cash sometimes"

"Okay, so ... 1, 7, and 9 ... plus ... 2, 8, and ... uuuh. OH! 3 --- no, no! That's also an odd number. Aha! 4 will work! So. 1 + 7 = 8. 8 + 9 = 17 ... and then. 17 + 2 = 19. But then, 19 + 8 ... " Rhys paused to count on his fingers. "Uh ... equals ... OH! 27! Then 27 + 4 = 31! Which means ... " the boy squinted fiercely before writing all his numbers down.

"It's an odd number because it ends in a one like I originally chose! Yes, I think I've got this!"

With her chin in one hand and her elbow resting on her desk. She didn't particularly like math as a subject, but today's topic had made her think a bit. "I use math when I measure to make clothes and things. I have to double check my own measurements as well as how much fabric I'll need to make any given garment or accessory." She'd never really thought of it that way. She still didn't like math, though.

Crux chewed on the end of her pencil as she decided what numbers she wanted to use for the assignment. Even numbers... Those were the ones she could share evenly with Maylis. Odd numbers couldn't be shared. Not evenly anyway. Leaning up on her desk with her knees on her seat, the little hybrid scrawled out her chosen numbers: 2, 4, and 6. She liked that they were in order and she smiled at her choices. Now for her odd numbers... With her tongue poking out between her lips, Crux chose 3, 7, and 9. She didn't really know why those numbers, they were just the first ones she thought of.

Right! Now she had to add them up. Maylis was much better at this than she was, but she didn't want to bother her friend while she was trying to do her own assignment. Muttering under her breath as she added, she came up with 31. She couldn't share that with Maylis, so in large letters beneath her work, she scrawled, "ODD!" and plopped back in her chair with a pleased smile on her face as she waited for Maylis to finish.

Quite the quiet contrast to her friend Crux, Maylis sat properly in her chair as she leaned over her paper. Where Crux's writing was large and took up most of her paper, Maylis could nearly see it clearly from her desk, the purple imp's handwriting was small and very neat. She liked to center her responses on her paper, so her even numbers were on one line and her odd numbers on the next. She chose 4, 8, and 10 for her even numbers, and beneath those her odd choices were written: 1, 3, and 5.

Adding them up was easier for Maylis than for Crux, and she wrote her work down as she went. Her end result was 31. Beneath her work, near the middle of the page, she scrawled her answer in sentence form: "My answer was an odd number."

Essei squinted at her paper, trying to decide if which even and odd numbers she wanted. She finally settled on 4, 8, 22, 11, 9 and 37. She immediately regretted this decision however when it came time to add them all together. She solved this problem by painstakingly putting lines beside the two biggest numbers so she could count the lines and add them to the rest of the numbers when she was done and wrote out the numbers again below in sequence.

4 + 8 + 9 + 11 + 22 + 37 = 91

She checked her numbers twice to make sure it was right and then wrote 'odd number' on the paper. Math wasn't so hard! She just had to write it out.

Math. Okay, he liked numbers and decided to pick really big ones so he could impress the teacher and prove he wasn't stupid. 100, 92, 88, 67, 85, 111.

It took him nearly the whole class to count it all out, and almost decided to change his numbers several times, but even though he was crying and distressed, if he changed the numbers then the teacher would think he was stupid!

100 + 92 + 88 + 67 + 85 + 111 = 543

The resulting number had two odd numbers in it, and he had stressed himself out so badly by this point that he could barely think. He decided that since it was two odd numbers that it had to be an odd number in spite of the even number and wrote 'odd number'. He pushed his paper away and put his head down afterward, sniffling and doubting himself but too tired to check his answer again.

User Image Layren stared at the assignment and started picking out his numbers. Math wasn’t his best subject, but he wasn’t horrible at either. He did fumble at the beginning putting odd numbers in his even section but his house was a very art dominated field. After all, his dad was studying to be a composer and his mom was studying to be an actor… was an actor. Aaah well dwelling on what his family did or didn’t do wouldn’t help him with the assignment.

Okay so three even numbers... what where three even numbers.
16
24
48
which equals 88 which is still an even number. Now what three odd numbers did he want
well lets see
15
27
69
this added up to 111, which is still an odd number. Okay last part of the assignment. 88 + 111= 199. So the final number was odd. Well time to turn the paper in. putting it on the desk layren wondered if he should go and find Thayne.

User Image Math was easy, and so the question was really easy for Hermes because he liked numbers. The question was also rather easy since odd numbers plus odd numbers all ways added up to even numbers, and even numbers plus even numbers always added up to even numbers but if you added an odd number to an even number it was always odd. Mmm but then it was three odd numbers which meant that the odd plus odd would be odd. Shaking his head he went back to the assignment.
4 + 6 + 12= 22
7 +19 +23 = 49
22+49= 71 which like he had stated was odd.

When he was done he went up and turned the paper up to the teacher.

Seray always loved math, he always excelled in all things logic and reason based. It was surely his specialty to understand formulas and that is why when he was asked to state a formula it was easy and he knew exactly which one he was going to use.

"Logarithms have always been my favorite part of math, they are an easy way of showing giant numbers and thier relationship with time. The most basic of the formulas is y = logb(x) of course that is if x=b^y which in the most basic of problems it will."

Nodding proudly to himself he looked at his teacher and sat down.

Jaden focused hard on the paper in front of him, brow knit in concentration as he carefully traced out each number.

3, 7, 21
4, 8, 14

He gave the numbers another good stare, just to make sure he was doing things right, then moved on to the next part of the assignment. He ended up having to write them all one under another; he wasn't good enough at math yet to do it all sideways!

21
14
3
7
4
8
57

Jaden checked and doubled check his math. He really wanted to make sure he got it right! Next to the 57 he wrote "odd" in his nicest handwriting. Another check to make sure. Awesome! Feeling quite confident, Jaden got up from his desk and went to hand the assignment in to Judas.
