Sable was feeling rather confused and conflicted at the moment, especially when Jin and Darren came over to her. The last she could recall, she was being choked and smothered inside one of those coffin pokemon things. The teen didn't think there was any way she was going to survive that encounter, considering she didn't have anyone to help her. The amount of pounding going on suggested that her pokemon hadn't made any headway with the door and it seemed unlikely that anyone else would be in the right area to find her. Sure, Darren was somewhere in the house, but there was no guarantee that he was on the same floor as her and even if he was, he'd have to find her and pull her free before her body just... Failed. And what was Jin doing there? He should be back at Pewter looking for her and Darren and it was unlikely-
The teen's thoughts crashed to a halt as she put together the most likely explanation for what was going on, and her faulty realization caused her to take a few heavy gasps as tears started to form. She was willing enough to accept the hand up, but by then she didn't think it made a difference."...I don't think there's much strength left to save..."the teen muttered faintly when Darren tried to encourage her to rest. She felt something in her chest tighten in a knot when the tan-haired teen blamed himself for her state and couldn't help but lean over and give the teen a peck on the cheek. It wasn't like he was real anyway, right?"...No, it's not... I might only be here because... Because I was worried about you, but this isn't your fault... That little brat's, on the other hand..."Sable's breathing was becoming more pained, and soon she felt herself being lowered back towards the bed due to Jin thinking she had already spent too much of her stamina talking with them.
The dark type smiled lightly and lightly patted Sable's head after she was laid back down."Don't worry, we're going to fix this. Alright? Everything's gonna be fine,"he assured the teen, then tried to pull away. He didn't get very far before Sable hooked an arm around the back of his neck and pulled him in for a hug. That caught the dark type off guard, since as far as he had been able to tell so far, Sable definitely wasn't the hugging type. At least, aside from a side hug or two, but those didn't really count."What's wrong, sis? Aside from this messed-up house, I mean,"the disguised zorua asked, but instead of an immediate answer, he was squeezed a bit tighter. The dark type considered maybe dropping his disguise just so it'd be easier on him, but since Sable seemed to be a lot more comfortable than she had seemed when they entered the room, he didn't bother.
Sable couldn't help sniffling and a couple of sobs managed to break free."...Could... Could you..."By now, she felt almost certain that what she was seeing and feeling couldn't be real. It all had to be some sort of crazy dream she was having and that any minute now, it'd either fade away or be shattered by something. If she hadn't been so sure, then maybe she'd be more guarded about her emotions, but right now she honestly thought she was either dead or still dying and that the whole thing was something her mind was making up to comfort her. And if that was the case... No point in hiding anything from someone that wasn't even really there."...Could you stay here a bit longer...? Please...?"By now the teen's voice was little more than a whimper and the trainer couldn't keep from crying."...I don't wanna be alone... I don't care if you're gone when I wake up..."She doubted she'd be allowed to stay sleeping. No doubt that damned girl would just force her ghost to torture people just like the other ghosts had tortured her."...But I want you both here right now... Until I fall asleep... Please...?"Even if it wasn't real... It hurt her a lot less to go along with whatever fantasy her head was spinning to make her feel better than to realize she had no one coming for her and that she was going to rot, alone, as a mummy inside some deathtrap of a pokemon. At least, that's what she was thinking.
Jin had a concerned expression as his trainer pleaded with the both of them to stay at least until she was back asleep. The disguised zorua glanced at Darren as best as he could from the hug he was held in before gently petting his trainer's head again."I'm sorry... We can't make any promises... But if we can stay here that long, we will,"he told teen lightly.I swear, if that ******** brat drags us away before Sable's asleep, I don't care where she's hiding! I will find her and tear her into pieces so small the only use left for her will be as fertilizer!He kept his anger from bleeding out as best as he could while his trainer kept hugging him tightly. Thankfully, it seemed he wouldn't have to make good on his mental threat, at least for that reason. The duo were allowed to stay where they were while Sable drifted back off to sleep. Honestly, Jin was completely reluctant to leave at all after his trainer's little breakdown... But if he didn't, then it was likely she'd be put in even worse danger, so the dark type cautiously slipped himself out of the hug.
Grimacing, the disguised zorua tried to think of something that would make both him and his trainer feel better. The dark type then got and idea and carefully set the gekkit on the foot of the bed Sable was sleeping on."I'm gonna have to leave you here, alright?"Jin asked, then frowned as the small fox pokemon whimpered and lowered her head."Look, it's probably a lot safer for you to stay here with Sable than try to follow me and Darren around while we're chasing ghosts. And it's not like I'm leaving you here alone, either."At that, Jin opened up two of the pokeballs that he hadn't had to use yet, the ones containing Rose and the eevee. Rose hopped onto the chair to keep an eye on her trainer while Jin lifted the eevee onto the foot of the bed beside the gekkit."All three of you will be staying here while Sable sleeps. Okay?"Rose and the eevee were immediately in agreement with the idea, and after sniffing the other fox pokemon a moment, the gekkit gave a reluctant yip in agreement before curling up in her bamboo collar.
With the guard situation figured out, Jin was finally willing to leave the room and prep for the next challenge that curse-slinging brat was going to throw at them. The first order of business was to get everyone patched up, and while most of the team just needed some potions, Honey needed to get her burn checked out. The room might not have been a real pokemon center, but the facilities worked well enough that it didn't really matter at the moment. Jin doubted he or the others would be feeling up to moving around once they were out of the area. Shaking his head at the thought, Jin set to work patching up the wounds on the rest of the team, then stopped when he noticed a few items laying nearby where he had sat down."Huh? What are...?"The dark type was understandably confused at the sight of some perfectly good heartscales and a big mushroom on the ground and quickly snatched them up. The heart scales didn't react at him, although they certainly tried to. Of course, he knew that the only move he wanted out of one was one that he physically couldn't use yet, so he didn't have to worry about accidentally setting them off. The mushroom, though, he knew exactly what he wanted out of, and after briefly asking if the others wanted an updated moveset, was free to scarf down the fungus.
Once that was taken care of and he gave the pidgey one of the heart scales, Jin then set about the next order of business. One move did not make him useful, and with the other three barred off from him he knew he needed to bench himself. Thankfully, Sable did happen to have another dark type in the team, so Jin let out Scoundrel and filled him in on the situation. The liepard sat where he was let out as he listened, his tail swishing, before going over and nuzzling Jin's leg as his way of letting the fellow dark type know he was on board."Okay, but there is a small issue. These ghosts have some tough movesets, and you're gonna need a strong move of your own if you're going to help out,"Jin explained, then held out one of the heart scales for Scoundrel to investigate. He sniffed at the scale briefly before pawing at it, causing it to glow briefly before crumbling to dust. The liepard then smirked at Jin as he felt the new move settle itself in his mind."Yeah, these ghosts aren't gonna like this move. This'll knock them on their tails for sure,"the purple feline said confidently as his tail swished back and forth.

Yeah, it's mostly to tweak Scoundrel's moveset a bit since he doesn't have any good moves quite yet. The pidgey could use a nice move, too, though. And I've been intending to use that big mushroom for ages... Jin needs his spiffy psychic attack. XD
"Raaaann!" Riley whipped her head towards the door at the plaintive cry that wailed up from the bedroom. "What was that?" She ran from the bathroom, Seul close on her heels. A massive cofagrigus loomed between them and the door, eyes shining with a wicked light. Its shadowed limbs whipped and lashed in a crazed dance, their movements seemingly random until a muffled cry escaped from within. "Seul, there's a pokemon in there!" Riley didn't have to say it twice. Seul leaped towards the coffin pokemon.
Shadow hands seethed en masse to stop Seul. He hopped and spun, bringing his glowing horn low to slash through the shadows. More hands rushed to take their place. "Seul, don't worry about them!" Riley cried, watching him hack the limbs only for them to come back before he could move forward. "Go around and get its body! To the right!" Seul leaped, hands crashing into floor behind him. He sprung off the sturdy support of the canopy bed, twisting over the writhing arms to deliver a finishing blow.

"Good job Seul!" Riley said as she ran forward, pushing aside broken bits of the cofagrigus. "Ra..." A small white pokemon with a blue head and bright orange horn was curled up, shaking. There were black hand prints seared into its body all over. "This is-" Riley reached out to comfort it. "RA!" A blast of psychic energy sent Riley flying. Seul barked in alarm and leaped in time to catch her. The small pokemon, a ralts, stumbled away, hiding among a heap of stuffed animals as Riley struggled to her feet. She'd barely stepped forward before one of the dolls began shaking and sprang to life. "Seul!" Riley cried out. It was a banette.

Seul whipped his horn back and forth, sending the screeching banette packing very quickly. Riley stood uncertain, wanting to comfort the small crying pokemon curled amidst the spoiled plushies. She didn't want it to lash out again. It reacted to me, so maybe if Seul tried...he's immune to psychic, too. Riley caught Seul's eye. "Seul?" The absol understood what she wanted and began padding forward, though he had a feeling this wouldn't work. After all, what pokemon ever trusted him, the disaster pokemon?
"R-ra?" The ralts looked up, and suddenly it had flung itself at Seul. Seul froze, a look of bewilderment (and slight fear) on his face. The ralts gripped him tight, clinging to the snowy fur. "Raaaall...." The ralts climbed on top of Seul, its face still buried in his fur. Seul sent Riley a look that could only mean "help" while Riley tried not to laugh. She'd noticed that when she started moving to say hello the ralts had stiffened on Seul's back, so she was keeping her distance.
Unfortunately that was a luxury Riley couldn't keep up because right then a gengar rose up from beneath the floor. "Seul!" The ralts cried out in alarm but clung on as Seul leaped away, doing his best to use dark pulse without upsetting the small pokemon. He got lucky and the gengar flinched, giving him time to use dark pulse again.

Riley and Seul both knew how to deal with the duskull that came floating up after the gengar. This was lucky, since at this point Riley was afraid to shout any commands to Seul anymore. When it first appeared, Riley cried out in alarm. This startled the ralts so much that it cried out, and if it hadn't been touching Seul its psychic powers would have gone crazy.
Seul was having a tough time fighting. Unable to leap about as he normally did, he had to evade attacks by cutting through them with his horn or just suffering through them until he could counterattack.

A sudden chill blew into the room, small flakes of snow flicking up into the air. The ralts cried and shoved itself even further into Seul's snowy fur. Seul whipped through the cold, trying to finish the frosslass that floated in as fast as possible. With a last slash, he finished her off, but the hail still whirled through the room. "It's still too cold! We have to get out, Seul!" Riley fought against the growing wind, struggling to hold the door open for Seul and then slamming it closed behind them.

The door blasted open when Riley and Seul were just a few steps down the hall, the hail whipping out after them. A pumpkaboo stood before them and the stairs. "Get it, Seul!" Riley cried. Seul ran forward, slashing again and again to knock the pumpkaboo out. They ran past the ghost pokemon as it slowly disappeared, soul put to rest by Seul.
They tumbled down the stairs, Riley and Seul panting while the ralts still clung to Seul's back. It didn't look like anything was following them anymore, so they made their way to the door, Riley picking flakes of ice from her hair. She got her trick or treat prizes for the last week, wondering what she might get for fighting all the ghosts again.

Sable just looked so distraught as she took everything in. Darren gave her time to come to grips. Being near death and then waking up to life was a shocking development, he didn't want to overload her with information, just keep her relaxed and recovering. She didn't seem to really believe there was much point to saving her strength now though. "Heh... That's probably true, but you should still try to rest so you can regain some strength at least." Darren insisted gently, blaming himself for the mess she was in. Sable's response however, was not something Darren had expected. His somber expression quickly turned into one more akin to a deerling in headlights. He stiffened, a fervent blush crossing his cheeks and nose. The bit of affection was not unwelcome, but Darren didn't know how to process something so unexpected. Eventually he settled back down, keeping his face turned slightly away from Sable and messing his hair. He listened to Sable's argument, though the blush remained. "A-ah.. Y-yeah I guess.... You have a point...... But...." He stammered, but he didn't try to argue. She was having trouble breathing, the last thing she needed right now was to argue with him. "Please, just try to relax... Now isn't the time to be pushing yourself..." Darren insisted. She was laid back down, but she hooked Jin into a hug and wouldn't let go, begging them to stay until she fell asleep. Darren wanted more than anything else to promise her that they would stay as long as she needed, but the sad truth was he couldn't. At any moment they could be ripped away to another room at the mercy of the hex maniac. Darren didn't have the heart to break it to her, but thankfully Jin told the truth.
Darren could practically taste the bitter resentment Jin was feeling towards their captor, making silent murderous promises if she forced them to leave before Sable fell asleep. Thankfully it didn't come to that. They were allotted more time than the last, enough at least so that Sable could fall asleep and they could get their pokemon healed up. As Jin slipped out of Sable's hold, Darren continued to stare listlessly at Sable's unconscious and pained form. "I.... I don't want to leave her like this..." He said quietly. She was so scared, so vulnerable, he wanted to stay with her and be there when she woke up. Jin seemed just as reluctant to go, but he at least left some pokemon to guard her. It took some convincing, but the gekkit agreed to stay along with Sable's eevee, and roselia to watch over the desert trainer. Darren sighed, turning away. She would be safe with these pokemon here, he knew she would, but it still pained him to leave her here. It was for the best though, she could rest, and he could help defeat the ghosts to get them out of here. The sooner they could get out, the better.
As Jin handed out heart scales and mushrooms, Darren figured he should do the same. He let out Flynn and Zephyr, handing them both some of the few items in his stash, though he was a little hesitant to make Zephyr stronger, given the fact that they still hadn't quite tamed the bird's nasty attitude. The skarmory however, was quite tame at the moment. At first, Darren couldn't help but wonder what had changed, but then again, he knew perfectly well. His eyes darkened for a moment unhappily, but he shook off the feeling. "Ready?" Darren asked Jin hesitantly when it seemed that he had finished powering up Sable's team. Jin didn't get the chance to answer though, as they were immediately swept away to a new room.
It felt a lot darker, colder. The room itself was empty, aside from the single floating figure in the center, the hex maniac who had brought them here. She lifted her face to greet them, a wild look in her eyes and a bone chilling grin on her face. "What makes her so special? Hm? She's barely conscious and boring, but you'd rather stay with her than play with me? Keeheehhee.... I suppose I should be offended, but I've been thinking it over.... And I thought... Perhaps I should make things more interesting then?" Her grin grew malicious, and Darren felt his body freeze, and then lift into the air. "After all, only your pokemon have been fighting, why let them have all the fun?!" Darren was quickly flung to the right, and slammed into the wall. Flynn roared angrily, shooting fire at the girl but she swerved out of the way. "Heehehehe!~ Let's fight fire with fire then shall we?!" A litwick materialized and went after Flynn to keep him busy, but the hex maniac had gotten distracted, and Darren had been released momentarily from her grip, sliding down to the ground in a heap. Slowly, he staggered back to his feet, hurt, but this was nothing compared to Sable's injuries. Honestly he felt like he deserved much more. "As you wish my dreary~" The girl cackled, hoisting Darren up again and flinging him to the left this time. Darren braced himself the best he could. Honestly being forced to be a limp ragdoll helped reduce the damage that otherwise reflexively tensing his muscles would have done. Flynn had finished off the litwick though and was now focused on the Hex maniac once again. "Goodness gracious, you're burning with rage! Let's douse those flames shall we?" She sent a jellicent to take care of him.

Walking Pokemon ⇨
Jin had just started to nod at Darren when the room suddenly shifted. Instead of the coffin room, though, their destination was somewhere new. Somewhere... Empty. The floors, walls, and ceiling all looked the same, made of some partially-rotted wood and covered with something that had once been a rich, dark blue but was now severely faded. The only feature within the room was the hex maniac that grinned at the two males and said something ominous before psionically tossing Darren around like a rag doll."Darren!"Jin started to hurry after the teen to try and keep him from being slammed into something else, but was soon forced to stop as he felt his limbs grabbed. Looking back, it was a jellicent that had appeared from nowhere and had latched onto him."L-let go!"Jin shouted as he tried to get free, but the toxins of the ghostly jellyfish were already doing their job and quickly sapping the strength from the disguised zorua's limbs. Jin couldn't do anything as he felt himself being lifted by the jellicent floating upwards, but fortunately for him, Oaken was still out of his ball and able to shoot out a flurry of leaves to force the watery ghost to dissapate. Unfortunately... That did nothing to cushion his fall, and the dark type let out a grunt as he hit the floor fairly hard.
Groaning, Jin tried to stand up, which was a lot easier said than done given his arms and legs felt like jelly."Heehehehehe~ Someone had better move fast~"Jin had been trying to ignore the girl's irritating comments, but that one made him quickly look around to see what trouble was approaching now. It turned out that the trouble was not for him, but for Darren. Once again the girl was using some sort of power to toss the teen around, but this time a cofagrigus had appeared to catch the battered male. Not in the way he might have liked, either."Scoundrel! Move it!"Jin shouted since he knew he was in no condition to try and fight the ghost again, then bolted off as best as his legs could move him towards the same area. The liepard looked up from the gengar that he had somehow found, pinned, and was tearing into and saw what the trouble was."On it!"The liepard was much faster than the weakened zorua and was able to dash over long before the girl was done waving Darren around. The purple feline quickly pounced on the cofagrigus, and just as the hexer tossed Darren aside the ghost was forced to fade away. Of course, without the intended catcher, Darren ended up being flung a bit farther than intended, which was was Jin was expecting as he managed to at least be there to give Darren a somewhat softer landing. Not much softer due to a bit of instability with his illusion, but slightly better than the floor or wall would have been.
The hexer pouted and folded her arms across her chest as she watched the results of her bit of fun."Awww... You're always putting your nose where it doesn't belong!"The girl even stamped her foot a bit, although the effect wasn't entirely there due to her floating in midair."Too bad, though..."At that, the girl got a wicked smile on her face."You never could remember what the real lesson was~"Several cracks sounded out from somewhere below and behind the duo and multiple ropes, straps, and other bindings burst out from sections of the flooring to grab onto Jin and pin the struggling dark type to the ground."W-wha are y-AUGH!"The dark type was forced to let out several shouts as more sounds of breaking wood ensued and he felt multiple sharp somethings gouge into his back."Don't get caught~"

Oh good lord, I was not expecting some of these to happen! XD I am soooooo glad I gave that pidgey heat wave! That just mowed down the Froslass and Pumpkaboo! That move got so much love here! I just didn't expect that, of all the moves it could be, assist ended up being heat wave. X'D I was just using it for a filler move!
Darren was somewhat surprised to hit Jin instead of the wall, but even though the landing was softer, Darren didn't feel much better about it. Saying a silent apology to the Zorua in his head as he staggered off of the illusion, only for Jin to be strapped to the ground for interfering. "J-jin!" Darren gasped, attempting to tear the bindings off of the illusion. "Oh no you don't~ Sorry my dreary, you don't get to tag friends out of the penalty box for this game!" Darren was dragged away from the Zorua by some shadowy force. "But I'll tell you what, you can JOIN HIM." She gave a shrill laugh, and Darren felt himself bound by leather straps, limb by limb, but these straps were from the Cofagrigous that had been his intended captor from before. "F-Flynn hel--!!" He started to scream, but his mouth was soon covered before he was dragged into the coffin where it attempted to snap shut with him inside. Flynn was on the job however, catching the lid before it closed and keeping it pried open while Zephyr slammed the coffin with an Iron Head from behind.
This knocked Darren and Flynn out of the coffin just before it disappeared, and Flynn was honestly taken aback. The skarmory had helped them? Why? Zephyr leered at Flynn and turned away, Darren was a bit too preoccupied with catching his breath to notice or know what was going on. Meanwhile Zephyr continued to take care of some of the other ghosts. It was as if a switch had been flipped. The Skarmory had been quiet and obedient, standing by Darren's side before, but now the bizarre bird started on a rampage that the hex maniac hadn't expected. It tore through ghost after ghost, she had to keep sending more after the bird to keep herself out of it's sights, but eventually, she would run out of minions...

Jin was very, very grateful for the help Darren was giving him in trying to get free from the sudden bindings. The dark type had just managed to get one of his hands free when he noticed something behind the teen."Behi-mph!"A few straps shot up from the flooring below and crossed over the disguised zorua's face to cut his warning short before slamming his head against the floor. The illusionist had to act fast as he felt more bindings try to grab onto his freed arm and before it could latch on, he managed to poke the button on one of the pokeballs he had to let out the creature within. For a moment, it would seem he had chosen poorly due to it being the pidgey that had been let out. As a banette, pumpkaboo, and froslass rounded on the pinned dark type to take advantage of his situation, though, they quickly found out that the pidgey had gotten more than a bit of an upgrade as all three of them were blasted with a gust of scorching wind from the tiny bird's wings.
Satisfied that the ghosts were taken down easily, the pidgey decided to go hassle the girl floating in the room to try and distract her. And was doing a pretty good job of it by landing on her scalp and pecking her head. As the girl screeched and tried to get the bird off of her, Scoundrel bounded over and scratched at the bindings that were pinning Jin to the ground. The feline worked at the ones pinning the fellow dark type's arms and head first, and after a few slashes weakened them enough for the disguised zorua to tear through those ones the rest of the way."Alright, now go help out Darren,"Jin insisted as he let out Honey and Amethyst, then waved the trio of pokemon off to deal with what they needed to as he forced himself to sit up and worked at the cords and straps binding his legs. The sitting up part was easier said than done, and even Scoundrel winced at the sight of several rusted nails that looked to be jammed into the back of the illusionist at odd angles. Better not to wonder how that didn't break his illusion...
While Honey and Amethyst went off to deal with a bothersome litwick and duskull, respectively, and Scoundrel helped Flynn out with freeing Darren from his own wrappings, Jin managed to get off what remained of the bindings on him and forced himself to stand. From the way things were looking, the hex maniac was running out of minions to throw at the group. The girl had just managed to swat the pidgey away and was now hopping mad at the two males down below."No, no, no! You're not supposed to win this time! You're supposed to lose!"she screeched, and continued screeching for a while before taking a few deep breaths. Those breaths turned into giggles, which turned into a full, insane laugh."But that's still fine~ We'll just play another game~"While the girl talked, Jin worked at recalling the members of Sable's team that were out. He seemed oddly calm in spite of all that had been going on."Once I'm through with you, I'll make you play any game I want~ You two are going to be stuck here forever, same as that girl you're so fond of, and you're all going to be my best toys once I'm done breaking you in~ and then-""No."
At that one word, part of the girl's arm glowed bright blue and a rather audible cracking sound could be heard just before the hexer let out an ear-piercing scream. Jin's eyes were also glowing that same blue, but behind them... Something seemed to be wrong with him."No more games."Jin didn't seem to be taking note of his injuries anymore, although he was careful not to move more than he needed to in order to stay up."No more ghosts, no more running, no more hiding, no more trying to trap, maim, or kill us... We're done here."The hexer let out another shriek as the blue glow moved and more of her arm cracked under the pressure of the move that was being used on her."You are going to send all of us back to Pewter or the next thing I crush will be your head."It seemed that some combination of the abuse the girl put the group through and how unsteady Jin was feeling after the last bout of suffering that went on had been the final straw for something, and the results were not looking good for his tormentor.

Darren was able to recover enough to get back to his feet, thanks to Sable's pidgey distracting the hex maniac and their pokemon taking care of the ghosts, though just because he was standing up now didn't mean he couldn't be flung aside again. Since Zephyr was taking care of the ghosts, Flynn assisted his trainer, acting as his crutch. All around it seemed that the hex maniac was growing more and more irritated, what with being pecked and scratched at by the pidgey and all of her minions being easily defeated. She threw a small fit, but it eventually turned into insane laughter as she swore to break them to play any game she wanted. That was where she went wrong. Something snapped in Jin. He was done with her games, and Darren watched in horror as he tortured her slowly in order to convince her to let them go. Though, even with her tortured screams, the hex maniac continued to laugh. "Heeheeeheehee..... So... Your true colors.... Are revealed. You want to leave so badly? Fine. You can go~" With that, the hexer sent Jin away along with Sable's pokemon, however Sable and Darren remained. It was a miscalculation on Jin's part. Threatening her himself meant he was sent away, but with him out of the picture, Darren and Sable didn't have their guardian.
The damage Jin had done however, had severely weakened her. The hexer floated down slowly towards the ground clearly weak, and now she was out of ghosts to torture them with. "You promised to help me..... You stay, so does the girl." Darren frowned. "...I did promise that didn't I? But Sable didn't and she's useless to you, so let her go, and I'll stay." Darren offered quietly. "No." Darren narrowed his eyes. "You aren't in much of a position to refuse.""Heeheeheee~ Neither are you my dreary...." She grinned, eyes glowing. Darren felt his body tighten, but she didn't have enough power to move him. "H-heh....heh heh....." She was clearly exhausted. "You said before that you wanted my help... You never told me what you wanted." Darren pointed out. "I wanted to play games, but we haven't played enough, no, not nearly enough.... I haven't had this much fun in so long~" Darren looked rather concerned. "I find it hard to believe that you find all this pain and torture to be fun." The hexer sneered. "Oh? Well what's fun for you then?""Being with friends, laughing about a stupid joke, or having an adventure. There's really a lot of things that are much more fun than pain and torture..." The hexer was quiet, so Darren continued. "I'll tell you what. Let's play another game, you and I, but this time I get to pick.""You.... Want to pick a game...?" She seemed baffled by this idea. "Mhm. We can play, but only if you send Sable back to the pokemon center first." The hexer narrowed her eyes. "Why would I do that? I don't even know what game we're playing and if it's even any fun." She pointed out. Darren grimaced internally. "Trust me, it's a very fun game, I think you'll like it, since you like dark and gloomy things. It's called hangman." The hexer's eyes lit up. "Oooohhhhh......""Interested? Let Sable go." The hexer sighed and her eyes flickered. "Fine, there.""How do I know you're telling the truth?""See for yourself." She insisted, summoning a portal for Darren to look through, though if he had made any motion towards it she would have snapped it shut.
Once Darren was convinced, he nodded in approval and the portal disappeared. "So, how do we play?" Darren took out a scrap of paper and a pencil, drawing a hangman's noose. "I get to pick a word or phrase, and you get to guess what it is by picking letters from the alphabet, but you can only be wrong six times, and each time you guess wrong, I draw a limb. Two arms, two legs, a body, and a head. If you guess wrong six times, the hangman is hung, and you lose." Darren drew ten little lines all in a row. "I'm thinking of a pokemon. Here's how many letters there are in the name, ten. With the clue and the number of spaces, try to guess which pokemon it is.""So I just pick a letter?""Right. Go ahead and say any letter you want if you think it's part of the name.""Hmm.... O?" Darren wrote the letter O down in the corner, and drew the stickman's first leg. "What?! So that means I got it wrong???""Yes. So I wrote down the letter you picked, and drew a leg." The hexer though for a moment before picking her next letter. "A?" Darren filled three of the ten spaces with A's.

The game continued, but eventually the hangman was drawn, and the hex maniac had used all of her guesses. "Augh! No fair! You're cheating! You're making up a word!" Darren shook his head and filled out the rest of the word.

"See? At the end of the game you always reveal what the word was, that way it proves you weren't cheating.""Fine okay whatever. You win, but this was just a test run. I didn't know how to play, but now I know, so we can play for real this time.""That's right. So let's play again, but this time let's make bets. It'll be more interesting that way.""Yesss! Let's make bets. I have a hoard of items I've collected from other trainers. What do you have?" Darren revealed his small collection from his bag. Thankfully there was a few things that the hex maniac was interested in, so they played. Darren would pick an item from her stack that he wanted, she would pick an item from his, and the game would start. To make things fair they switched every game for who got to guess the word and who made the hangman. Soon the room was filled with finished hangman puzzles, and Darren was growing a sizable pile of items. Though he'd lost on occasion, he always got his items back. There were even a few pokemon that she had, an Eevee and an Aipom that Darren had won from her.

The massive bundle of prizes Riley got was unexpected (to say the least). Treats galore, three mushrooms (one was a balm one!) and a lucky egg, a shiny focus blast tm, paper lantern, and... "Oh, this'll be perfect for the Ralts," Riley mumbled, picking up a glossy purple-pink mind plate. Riley suddenly realized the Ralts wasn't exactly her pokemon yet. Unfortunately for her, when she turned to the little pokemon clinging to Seul's back, all attempts at talking to it resulted in failure.
"Seul... could you ask if she wants to come with us?" Seul craned his head to speak softly to the small ralts clinging to his back and was immediately met with emphatic nods from the little one. "Can you tell him he needs to go in here first?" Riley asked, rolling a pokeball along the floor (and hoping no one would come by and notice how bad she was at catching pokemon).
Seul picked the ball up in his mouth and offered it to the ralts, who shot Riley a suspicious (but almost....knowing?) look before tapping it lightly. There was no cry of alarm as it was sucked in. Riley stepped forward quickly to let it back out, retreating just as swiftly so the ralts could re-board Seul.

Riley led them to a sitting room offshooting the main entrance, not wanting to get in the way of other trainers coming and going from the house.
