Jaster stepped from the high grass waving accross the plains and stepped out into the path. He looked up at the night sky, and found the North star. He pointed himself towards Tier, and started walking. He kept his right hand ready to draw his sword, and his eyes darted back and forth across the path. He'd been ambushed twice today. Once was by a thief who had the misfortune of attacking a skilled warrior. The other, however, was different. And it was becoming increasingly more common these days. Strange black demons the size of children appeared from practically thin air and started to unleash a barrage of darts upon him. He had always easily dispatched them, but he was still curious as to why they ambushed him and why it had become more frequent. They were sure to be harder to see in the dark, and he was ready for anything. He started to whistle a little dittie as he walked, and hoped for the best.

((Kail might be evil, but Lex is also too smart to just put on any random ring some guy gives him. Particularly since it's a guy. That's just... well... gay. whee Not that I have anything against gays. Lex just... isn't.))

Lex blinks, startled by this strange gift from a strange source. He stares at the little ring in the palm of his hand, suspicious of it and of the person that had given it to him.

Finding nothing wrong with it, at least, not yet, Lex shrugs and drops the item in his flint pouch. Perhaps he'd need or want it some time in the future. It was curious, either way, and perhaps there was something special about it. Good or bad, Lex knew not, but he had his ways of finding out.

Finishing her errands, Mariah looked up at the dark sky. It had become night so fast...Mariah sighed as she stood in front of the local food vendor, holding a bag of basic groceries tightly with both her arms. Could never be to careful these days.

Making one final stop, she double-checked her bag and pockets before heading home. Her eyes locked on the sky, Mariah continued to walk without looking to as where she was going. The little cat from before following her as she went.

((Mmm, but Kail loves to try and make trouble for the living.))

"Dammit, I'll have to go find them. It's Vrinn who's gotten me this far, and I won't last long without my magic. This sucks." Kail said aloud, as if he were talking to someone. Well, I guess talking to himself is kind of like talking to someone...
Kail headed the way Vrinn and Nera went. They shouldn't be too hard to find if that had stuck to the path...

(I know Im posting OOC, but hear me out, Same as always, I have a hard time getting online periodically. And so obviusly its really hard for me to try and bring in my character after quite a few days of absense, therfore I ask you, that you just bear with me, if my introdustions are slightly behind. since as many of you well know, It takes FOREVER to read through all the posts, and then you have to think of an appropriate way to introduce yourself. Usually I will either say that my chars. have been absent for one thing or another, or they simply followed.
-Thanks you all,

After quite a bit of walking, Mariah found herself anywhere but home. "Funny, I don't remember taking a wrong turn..." She looked around, holding the bag in one arm and using her freehand to run her fingers through her hair.

Jumping again, Mariah let out a little cry of surpise. Looking down, she laughed as she kneeled down to be the cat who had been following her. "Next time, little one, give a meow or something...okay?" Mariah smiled to the cat, still petting it.

Catalyn finally found the path, but the moment her feet touched it, she stopped and looked either way. There were people coming from both directions, but she couldn't tell whether they were friend or foe. Cat knew how these pathes worked, they could be very dangerous depending on how you played them. Catalyn could either keep walking in a direction, perhaps passing peacefully or walking into an ambush of sorts. Her best choice she made, staying right there and letting the people pass on their own, that way she was completely guarded and looked like she had no opening if possibly attacked. Where she was going? Who knew, Cat always just followed her instinct, but lately she had been getting bored and was looking to hopefully join a band of travelers in order to have a short term goal and keep herself going. When someone got bored, the will to live got weak and that wasn't the safest thing.

Catalyn looked around a bit, the darker it got the harder it was to see and she needed to be able to see her way at all times. With a quick grasp and jerk of her hand, she unsheathed her katana and placed it against her wrist. With a clever stroke, she cut it open and then resheathed the sword. WHat was coming out of her wrist wasn't exactly blood, because it was black and very hard to see in a dark night. With a whisp of her hand she sprinkled the liquid upon the path and all at once the area around her became cleared. Her blood was like a light to her eyes alone and helped her feel even the smallest tremors in the ground. Cat didn't even have to think about it when her wound suddenly closed up on it's own.

"Now lets see who comes..." She whispered to the night air.

((This post can be edited, but I don't know which path you're referring to, so I'm assuming it's out of the town place and more in the wilderness, where Kail is right now.))

A person on the path, dead ahead. Oh, great, just what Kail loved.
But then again, I am weak right now, I can't cast any spells at least until morning, and if there's any danger in here, I might not be able to take it... Very well, I'll play nice, maybe they'll join me.
"Hail, traveller,"
he called out, coughing from shouting too loud with his weak and raspy voice. "Isn't night one of the most interesting times to travel, I didn't expect there to be any people outside a camp at this time. It can be pretty dangerous."

Jaster was watching his feet as he came along the path. He had been walking for a while, and didn't know quite where he was. He was still a long way from the town, and didn't look like he had even passed the fields of high grass yet. He pulled a canteed from his pouch and took a swig of water. Up ahead he saw some shadowy figures, but decided that there were far too few of them. He thought to himself, If it was an ambush, there would only be one in the path. And if it was a fight they wanted, they will need more than two. He continued on down the path towards the figures, but let his hand fall to the hilt of his sword, just in case.

Kernyel sat in her chair with a morose countenance. She wasn't sure what had brought on this dark turn in her mood today, but she knew that her ale wasn't making it better and she didn't care. The Golden Pike was a quaint inn. She watched the smoky room fill with the night's patrons as the noise level rose with every minute. She grimaced.

Her cloak was warm on her as she sat there, drowning her bad mood. Lonely wasn't a word she would ever really use to describe her life. It was accurate tonight and she sighed with stubborn denial. Even the warm metal twisting its way up her arms wouldn't bring a comfort tonight. What good is it all anyways? She was disgustingly philosophical tonight and she knew that would only get worse with each pint.

She downed the last of her drink and rose slowly, a bitter taste forming in her mouth. There was an ache in her that would not stop bearing down on her spirit endlessly. She was at a loss as to when or why it occurred, but occur it did and with an ever increasing vengeance. Tossing a coin to the 'Keep, ensuring her belongings remained in the locked room she'd left them in, she exited the tavern room and took a slow breath on the porch that wrapped around the building. This is a bad night... came her pessimistic ponderings. And it was beginning to look like her thoughts might be true as she watched the flood of humanity pass her by in a mixture of hopelessness and innocence and corruption... She shook her head to dispel the images that sometimes overlapped her vision in pale shadows of reality.

(Umm yeah my first post here so if things are a bit inaccurate bear with me. I'll try to fix anything thats wrong with this post if anybody has a problem with it.)
Ronan walked slowly through the fields around Teir. He had just come to the city and did not fully understand what was going on. It seemed that the people were rebuilding the city. Shaking his head he headed down towards the city, he had to find something to do right now or else he was going to be bored forever.

Having dropped off her groceries once she had found her way home, Mariah was now roaming the city, dispite her father's warnings. The cool night air brushed against her legs as her brown boots hit the rugged ground delicately. Flicking her short hair aside, Mariah looked about with azure eyes, having difficulty seeing in the night.

Kernyel was eyeing the passers-by suspiciously, catching a few glints of steel and gold from among the cutpurses that spiced the crowds. She decided to head in for one last drink before a bath and bed. Will do me good, she thought, damn head is killing me...

With that, she cast one last furtive eye over the now darkened street and turned inside with a nod to the 'Keep and a smile on her face. It was not long before she was soaking away in the bath house with a few other chatty women and enough steam to choke her. She was there long enough to relax and soon returned to her room, the soft robe she wrapped around her smelled of lavendar. I wonder where they got that? she mused idly. She was getting sleepy and her head was starting to pound with a fierceness heretofore unheard of.

She mixed and drank her own concotion to ward off the pain a bit and sat down to her map and a candle for a bit before retiring to bed. It was as she was looking over these pages in her bound leather book, that a thought occured to her that just would not let go of her. And so it was, that an hour later, with a furious yank of the covers, she rose and dressed herself for the night air and headed outside via the servants' stairs. She didn't know exactly why she was outside or where she was going, but go she did down the various streets of Teir, even unto the gates and back again, never ceasing her vigil.

Jaster walked past them without a sound. No exchange of conversation, no eyes watching one another, not a thing. He acted as though they didn't exist. He kept his right hand on the hilt of his sword, and smirked at the idea of a fight. After he had passed the fields, he continued on through the night. He started whistling again, and saw lights in the distance. Tier was within reach. He would not have to camp tonight.

Eventually, he reached the shattered gates of Tier, and walked through. Inside, the town was a disaster. Most of the buildings were being rebuilt, but there were a few that still stood, and a few that had been rebuilt. He looked for a Tavern, and then thought perhaps an Inn would be better. He could always have a pint in the morning. He stopped, thought for another moment, then looked for a Tavern again. Spotting one still standing, he headed for it. He walked inside, platemail clanking together, and walked to the barkeep. "Jus' one pint, sir," he said. He reached into the pouch on his left and pulled out a few coins and tossed them on the bar. He took the mug and seated himself at a booth by a window. He took a few swigs, and looked out into the town. A few people meandered by, but not much was happening. He took another gulp, and finished the pint.

Jaster walked outside and found a bench near the tavern. He sat down, and watched the activity. He wasn't sure what he was going to do now, or how to start over, but for now he'd just relax.

Ronan walked through the town. It looked..., empty. Sure there were people bustling about, but it still felt empty. Like the people were here but their souls weren't. He saw a man in a cloak put a ring in his pouch(Lex) and decided to ask him for directions. Coming up beside him so as not to look suspicious he said "Excuse me sir, do you know where I might find an inn to stay the night."
