It was almost like he was not paying attention to anything else going on in that immediate moment of defending, which was probably not good. But sometimes, you were just a knight with really poor focus.
He was definitely not thinking about Riley right now and how her terrifying rage just made him want to get to know her more.

It was when his daydreaming became extremely complex plans for offering to duel for her hand that he noticed he was starting to lose his edge with the whole 'defending' business.
Morgan was probably going to be fine, though. Probably. He was a great knight...

[Enter] Shu didn't make her move until a moment when things changed. The initial cat fight rolled into a big chaos, with knights standing against each other, attacking or defending the Great Knight respectively.
She was observing at a quiet corner all the time.
It was confusing, for what they said and acted. Yet, one thing was sure - the knights around Morgan were further away from normal. "Why are you defending him? Miss Riley and Mr. Kostya became abnormal after approaching him. A trap or not, we need to take his mobility first. State your points, if it's convincing, I can stop."
The petite knight wearing black armor said and slash her chakram against his weapon, the metal abraded and clanked.

She didn't wait before she knocked her weapon onto his blade again, "If he's the one who caused the all the destruction, I won't forgive him." The eyes flared in determination stared at Morgan. "I'm not that smart and can only judge the situation on what I observed. I don't know how Sir Morgan is like, but there might be chance this person wasn't the real one or he had been controlled. I need the answer."

"Shouting didn't prove anyone. He did help us fight, but other Great Knights did that also. Besides, can you explain why some knights act so weird? Only those around him did, give an explanation." Shu looked into Aymet's eyes. "I'd wished I could believe him, but there was no reflection of his in the mirror." She paused, didn't move away. "I believe this person isn't Sir Morgan, if I am proved wrong later, I'm willing to bear the consequences."
She raised up her head to the Great Knight, "If you're Sir Morgan, please answer me, where's the King right now and where's Sir Merlin?" She didn't see the Great Knight she pledged to inside the room. "Also, what's your intention? Now the Gate and Mirror were together, what's your next step? Who are you?"
