Even that apparently was too greedy of him. Shortly afterwards, he chose to investigate the wrong cave--actually the one he had visited earlier, but Dawson was so out of it that he failed to recognize the warning signs in time.

God help him, the suit was feeling too confining. The tentacles whipped him about and he swore something punctured, though nothing was out of place once he had safely made it ******** the ocean.

When Dawson said ******** you, ocean, he didn't mean to make that sound like an invitation. It was a miracle he managed to swim away at all.

He brought up his stone count some more in a nearby cave, winced as he swam out, and decided, okay, fine. Dawson was still very frustrated he couldn't be strong enough to handle it longer, though; the basement was going to need a hell of a lot of uruz to be barely maintainable.

As before, Dawson found a reservoir of strength for circumstances just like these. Circumventing the creature, he broke the surface of the water with a gasp and all but crawled his way up the beach like an oversized sea turtle.

In the sanctity of his room, freshly renewed with the smell of bacon from a kind soul who offered to make it for him after work, Dawson crossed his legs and focused on carving. It was becoming easier--maybe the exhaustion had let him tap in a sort of serenity? Syn remarked it was too much acceptance of his state of being (one third of her agreed it was perfectly fine to be at peace with his weaknesses, but snake and lion parts were louder than the goat's bleats), and he didn't counter. He hadn't exactly been a model diver today.
Still, his concentration resulted in a better batch of runes than he had thought would have been earned. Sighing in relief, he rubbed his sore muscles and let himself rest.

RUN 5 BEGIN
Ready to dive right in with Scout as his ever faithful watcher, Dawson slipped on the sun swimsuit, stretched, and waddled his way towards the water. Maybe this time he could get in without any obstacles.
That was probably the most naive thought he'd conceived that day.

The giant shark from before wanted to meet him right from the get go. Thoroughly against injuring the creatures, he tried to swim away.

After a little snag and a jolt of fear, Dawson managed to make his way down into the depths. Luckily, the shark wasn't interested in pursuing after its portly prey.
