She could feel his breath on her face as he spoke, but she didn't back down from him. No, this was her own fault. "Your reputation was not what I had in mind, but my main concern was your safety. You obviously were not about to show... this to your crew, and it was only so long until you lost the limb. I took matters into my own hands. I see now that it was not my place."
She paused for a moment before taking a risk to ask her own question. "How long would you have been able to hold back showing that pain, and what was your plan if you lost the leg while there?"

"Couldnt tell me? Asked my thoughts?" His steel blue eye narrowed. "Ye been playing my feelings and I dont care fer it. If sometim happened to ye..." He shook his head. "N why work so 'ard fer me? Why worry so much?"

"If something happened to me, I'd be replaceable for this crew. I knew that when I asked to come aboard." She snapped quickly, becoming angry. She knew that he cared and worried for her, and that only frustrated her more because she felt that same care and worry echo back from her to him.
"Why work so hard? Why worry so much? You're the bloody Captain! Because of your protection, no one dared cross me until I made my own name here. Because of you I have something that feels more like family than anything back home." She flung her hand to gesture at the door. "I didn't even think when I heard that trap, all that went through my mind was 'is he safe?' and I can't remember anything before the fall. It may sound hard to believe, but I care about you. More than I care about that treasure, and more than I care reputation. If you died because I didn't take action, I would never be able to forget or forgive."
She paused for a second, trying to control her anger, which was caused by the conflicting emotions writhing in her. "You think I play with your feelings because it's fun? Let me tell you something, Captain Darias. I, more than anything, am terrified to fall into love. Especially to someone who goes through women faster than his rum." She nearly spat out the last part, and her face was flushed as she breathed heavily, her body shaking as she tried to calm herself.

As she slipped into anger, he remained steadfast, poised. He did not bow to anyones fury. She babbled things he knew she'd bring up, playing the old 'captain loyalty' card, for which he long knew to call bull on. But the caring and afterwards.
Well that was a cause for pause. "Ye be professin to be fallin in love with me?" His uncovered eyebrow rose in surprise, ignoring her slut jab at him. It was true after all, and cause for a bit of pride being a red blooded male. He leaned even closer, until only a breaths room was between them. "No lies, no hiding. No cloak and dagger."

Her confession had come out faster than her thoughts, and once it was out, there was no retrieving it. And she was too damn tired to try to work her way out of this. She looked at him with a small frown, his face hardly a hair's width from her. "I could be. I honestly don't know; you know I'm not one to actively search it out. All I can tell you is that the worst part of this day has been thinking that you'd been eaten by a crocodile, and after all that I was more focused on getting you here than I was at bringing back the treasure."
She paused, then looked away from him. "And even if I am falling, it doesn't change anything; I don't need to feel that crippling hurt. You and I both know that I'd have to leave the ship. You don't eat where you s**t."

"...No....no nothin be changed." He reached up with his hand to take her chin. "I think you'd be killin me 'fore some snakes or crocs do."
An inch closer and his lips found hers. Hungry from worry, this was the real prize of the day.

Andromeda knew what was happening the moment his hand was on her chin. She was too tired to fight it, and half of her didn't want to anyways. When the gap between their lips closed, she felt something completely different from that first kiss. Warmth. Despite Darias being half transformed and the cold smooth scales on his skin, there was a liquid warmth to it all and it reached all the way to her toes.
She leaned into him for only a moment before she took a step back. "You need to rest and you need medical attention. Please let me get the ship's doctor."

It was quite a bit gentler than the last, as he hardly the strength for any real force. So when she suggested a doctor, he didn't protest. Instead he stumbled back towards the adjoining room that was his quarters. "Aye...the ol' coot knows 'bout my...scale business. Only let him 'n' Jack see me. And you, course."

"Easy there..." She was quick to be there to support Darias as he began moving into the other room. She stayed by his side until he was settled. "He knows? That makes things easier."
She fussed over him a little, making sure that he wasn't going to die on her while he was alone. For a moment, she paused, then she tipped his hat up a little and planted a kiss on his forehead. "I'll bring you dinner tonight." She promised, then left him alone in his cabin. She'd be sending in the doctor alone, instead going off to help with the crew and to reassure Black Jack that things were handled. Besides, she had a lot of thinking to do herself.

He took her support till they reached his bed, and he sat down with a sigh. "We ain't done talkin...I need a punishment." He closed his eye as she kissed his head, then slunk down into a laying position. "I'll...have to rest on it." He listened to her footsteps leaving, and pulled the hat off his head. He had a lot of explaining to do, but later. Now he could finally rest.
