Approaching a rocky pass that lead trainers up to Lavaridge, on what previously didn't exist path, Evan noticed a rather large pile up of trainers gathered at the base of the mountain. Slowing his pace, the male passed by a few trainers, finding the reason behind the pile-up. Apparently some strong trainer was keeping them from advancing up the pass. Evan quickened his pace, finding a male trainer, with a Eelektross at his side. The male noticed Evan approaching, Saga at his side, the Mega Sceptile gave a confident glance to the Electric eel when it narrowed it's own gaze. "Look, anoder puny man, come to try and defeat me!" The male called out, waving his hands forward dramatically. Evan stopped, as the crowd parted some. "Soes, you gonna send forward a pokemon'er wat?" Evan could only look around at the group, a lot of them giving him hopefully looks. "Sure... I mean, I have to go that way anyway." Evan replied. Though what the heck could he do against an Eelektross? The eel seemed to be floating over the ground, a static charge showing itself ever so often... was it like... magnetization? That wasn't right.. it didn't look like a steel-type. Seeing as he'd just taken Saga off the team, the male reached for his next best bet... Louhi. Calling out the Psychic, the fox-like Pokemon took a quick glance around the area, realizing what he was being summoned for. 'I see we've made some progress. But this fool blocks the way?' Louhi inquired, speaking directly to Evan. The male gave a mental nod. 'Very well, I will do my best.' The psychic stepped forward, raising both spoons into the air. "Soes you sendin' in that one? Man, an' I wanted to face da Sceptile. Whatever, gonna kick yur a** anyway." The male replied confidently, motioning his own Pokemon forward.
One by one, Evan's Pokemon fainted. He was giving the man a run for his money, but luck just wasn't on Evan's side here, and eventually, the last of his main party fainted, leaving him just like the others. Hope dwindled in the crowd as the male's boisterous laughter filled the dessert air. However, he wasn't laughing long before a Hitmonlee seemingly from out of nowhere flew down from the cliffside, and drop kicked the Eelektross. "WHAT THE HELL!?" The male shouted, his laughter cut off. "You will trouble these people no more." Came a voice from above. A short man, almost dwarf-like leaped from the mountain like the Hitmonlee and landed with his arms crossed, like he'd done this a million times before. "I don't know what gave you the bright idea to hold up these travelers, but it ends here. I thought it was funny that we hadn't seen anyone come up the trail for awhile, usually Lavaridge is bustling with trainer and traveler activity at this time of the day. Approaching the boy, the dwarven-like male held out a thick sausage finger. "Now call back yer Pokemon and get!" Evan watched as the boy suddenly scrambled away, calling back his Eelektross as he vanished northward towards Fallarbor Town. "Everyone else, come on and follow me, the hot springs are callin' your poor Pokemon's names." Like the king the male turned and started back up the mountain, the Hitmonlee started to follow for a moment before it noticed Saga. A brow quirked and the Hitmonlee was suddenly at Saga's side, one of her claws in his, as he caressed her back. It seemed to mutter something, which Saga simply quirked a brow at. "That means you too, Sanji!" The male's shout startled the Hitmonlee seemingly, making the fighting-type grumble before dashing off to join his master.

Speaking of Marx... He was finally replying to those text messages now. It looked like he'd received some, if not all, during his contest, but now he had some time to reply. He tapped his device a bit, then pulled out Chima's pokeball, releasing her and bending down to take a picture, shielding her from the sandstorm to keep it clear. She blinked up at him, but before she could get her bearings, he straightened, and returned her again, attaching the picture to his message to Rose.

Marx threw an arm up as a strong gust of sandstorm swept over the team, frowning a bit. He had his goggles on, so it wasn't really that bad, but it still buffeted him and his team. He looked around at them, tucking his messenger away a bit, while wandering forward, surprisingly observant of not only his surroundings, but his team. He seemed to... actually be keeping track of their training, instead of getting lost exploring all the nearby... anything/everythings, or getting distracted by shinies. He glanced down, noticing he still had Chansey in his active party, and quickly switched her from Amaura, who he already had out. Marx was watching his pokemon train when he suddenly perked up, a smile crossing his face as an idea apparently came to him. "Hey, Amaura! C'mere!" he called, waving an arm to try and get the pokemon's attention. The fossil pokemon turned, looking unimpressed, but, after a moment, headed over. Honestly, he seemed to be one of the only ones not too bothered by the sandstorm, aside from Flygon (who was loving it). He waddled over, looking up at Marx with a blunt stare, but blinked when his trainer crouched down... and offered him something. "Here!" Marx offered, "I know we haven't known each other that long, but I wanted to give you these!"
Amaura lowered his gaze, staring at the little chocolate heart candies. The realization that the longer they were exposed, the more sand might get on them, suddenly hit him, and he quickly leaned forward, taking them from Marx and pausing a moment while he tasted them. Marx straightened up just in time for another very strong gust of wind. If you could call it that. It nearly knocked him off his feat, and even Amaura closed his eyes and turned his head away-- before being promptly knocked upside the back of his head. It nearly knocked him unconscious, and left him on the ground, dizzy eyed. He recovered, though, as the storm died down to its usual strength, and pushed himself to his feet, a bit off balance, but no worse for the wear. In fact... he felt oddly... strong. Marx recovered form the sandstorm and looked around, smiling when he noticed some rocks where he could take shelter, but keep an eye on everyone. He had heard his messenger go off a few times, and wanted to check and see if he could reply before they needed to all move on. Honestly, his pokemon could do with getting stronger, so that he could potentially go challenge a gym after he was done with the contest. Besides, he still needed to figure out who he was going to use, so there was no rush on getting there. And instead of sorting out his priorities and figuring tha tout... he decided to focus on his social life.
He read over Rose's message, a grin crossing over his face, before he began typing out a response.

Marx put his communicator away for the time being and decided to try and focus on contests for a bit. He was pretty sure Slateport hosted the smart contests.... which meant he'd have to figure out which of his pokemon had the best moveset for that. Before, he might have thought he had to figure out which of his pokemon was the most intelligent.... Pff. He pulled out his pokedex and started scanning through them, staying near the rocks and out of the way, for the most part, of the gusts of wind carrying sand. He was pretty sure his pokemon would keep training on their own... and he apparently wasn't worried about losing them in the storm.
