Today was finally the day, it was finally going to happen. Marina was going to start her very own Pokemon adventure! She had made sure to study up on some tips to become a good trainer. Just the idea of making a mistake or upsetting a Pokemon of hers would cause her to drift memories of her father, which she would quickly shake off. 'No, now's not the time to be thinking about that stuff. This is a new start for me, so I need to make it a good start.' Patting over her cheeks to give her a soft wake up call, she lifted her head up and smiled.
Rushing out of her room, she stopped as soon as she saw her mother outside of her bedroom door. "A-ah, sorry mom! I almost ran into you." Marina nervously giggled as she rubbed the back of her head. That would have been a great start of her adventure, bumping into her mother and cause her to fall over. Good thing she managed to catch herself from doing something like that. Her mother just smiled, slowly lifting up her hands to hold out a Pokeball towards the girl. Blinking a few times, she looked up to the older woman. "W-what's this mom?""You remember Mr. Tendo right? He said he wanted to gift you this Pokemon, something to remember the city by."
Carefully Marina took the Pokeball from her mother's hand, looking down at the shiny ball. She was amazed that someone in the city would want to gift her a Pokemon of her own. She knew when she would get to the lab, she would be gifted a Pokemon starter, so it would have been fine. Hearing that her neighbor Mr. Tendo wanted her to remember everyone in the city meant so much to her. Most people had heard of the events of her father acted out towards her mother and herself, so most of the folk did their best to support the two as much as they could. Like a big family. Marina held the Pokeball close to her chest, smiling. "I would never forget this city or everyone we've made friends with. This means a lot to me. Please let him know I said thank you!"
The older woman smiled, soon gently patted onto her daughter's back. "You better get going before it's too late dear." Gasping loudly, Marina nodded and grabbed onto her shoulder bag, tucking the Pokeball into it. She rushed towards the door to put her shoes on. The family Pokemon Gardevoir and Growlithe made their way towards the door. The girl looked over to the two, noticing the small sadden looks in their faces. Marina gave them a warming smile, "Don't be sad you two, I'll come visit real soon. Take good care of mom while I'm gone!" Giving each of them a big hug, her mother soon made her way over to where the group was as well. Marina looked towards her mother, even giving her one last hug before she needed to leave. With her farewells finished, she left her home, waving to her small family and rushed to the beach sore to catch the next ferry to arrive by Route 104.
The trip didn't take too long to make her way to Littleroot Town, Marina of course had to walk by a few places before getting to Birch's Lab. Of course she didn't mind the walk, she was going have to get used to it after all. She was excited to get to meet the Professor of the Hoenn region. She hoped that she would make a good impression. Marina almost stopped in her tracks, almost forgetting about the gift Pokemon that she was just given. Marina had no idea what Pokemon it could have been, but she thought it would be a good idea to wait until she got her starter Pokemon from the lab. It would be a good way for both Pokemon to meet each other and her at the same time. Smiling with the idea, she continued on her adventure to the lab.
Once she made it to the lab, she opened the door. She would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous about the whole thing, but she did her best to not to show it. Walking inside, she noticed a few lab assistants looking towards the girl. She blushed slightly before giving them a small wave and made her way towards the back. Looking around, she noticed the man wearing a lab coat, looking over some papers? Maybe..? Marina stopped her motion and softly cleared her throat. "U-um excuse me? Are you Professor Birch? My name is Marina a-and I would like to get a starter Pokemon. If that's alright.."

Goodness, today was turning out to be quite the busy one! Having only just finished giving a young man a Mudkip, Birch was pleasantly surprised to hear the doors of the lab opening once again, and this time a young girl walking inside. "Good day to you, Marina!" he greeted as he spun around, beaming widely. "A starter you say? Do you already have an idea of who you'd want?" He held a finger up, indicating that Marina should wait before giving her answer, before whisking off to a large container, three pokeballs able to seen from the glass case. With a flourish, and a laugh, he released all three Hoenn starters, before gesturing animatedly to each. "We have Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip; fire, grass, and water types, respectively," he showcased.

Marina stood in her stop, waiting for the Professor to notice her, it didn't take too long however. Professor Birch seem to be in a real happy mood by the way he looked towards the girl, making her feel less nervous than she first walked in. The older man greeted the girl in front of him, going out of his way to spin a little bit and smile widely at her. This made whatever nervousness Marina was feeling faded away quickly. She never knew that the Professor of Hoenn region was such a cheerful guy. It was truly an amazing thing for her to find out in person.
"A starter you say? Do you already have an idea of who you'd want?" Marina held up a hand to answer the other, but quickly stopped herself. Oh no, she didn't think that far ahead! Before she could give him an answer, he made his way to a large container, it appeared that there were three Pokeballs inside. Marina stepped a little closer to take a peek to what Birch was doing. Soon the man gave a laugh, releasing each starter Pokemon out of the Pokeballs. "We have Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip; fire, grass, and water types, respectively."
With a soft gasp, Marina placed her hands over her cheeks. She looked at each starter Pokemon with amazed in her eyes. She knew a bit of the starter Pokemon, but only of their types, so this would be the first time seeing them for herself. "Oh wow, they all look like such strong Pokemon! Oh..t-this is going to be a hard choice." The girl slightly lowered herself to the Pokemons' heights. She gave them each a good look. Which one would be her starter, which one would she pick?
Thinking about it for a moment, she nodded to herself before standing up and looking towards the Professor. "If it's alright with you Professor, I t-think I'll be going with Mudkip." It was indeed a hard choice for her, between Mudkip and Tochic, they were both very cute to her, no offence to Treecko, but in the end there was just something about the Mudkip that she found very cute.

It was clear to see that Marina was excited to see the three pokemon, she reminded him of his own child -- so young, and ready to take on the world. Birch hummed, mind temporarily filled with family-related memories, and waited patiently for her to decide. "Oh, a Mudkip? What a great choice! In fact, the trainer just before you happened to pick a Mudkip too!" He returned Treecko and Torchic, then handed Mudkip's pokeball to Marina, he turned around, ready to retrieve her items as well, only to find one of his aide's directly behind him, a pokedex and a parcel already in her hands. "Why thank you, Miranda!" Birch took both items and happily presented them to Marina, an explanation already on his tongue, "This here is your pokedex! It'll help you identify any pokemon you come across, it's already registered to you and everything. I've also taken the liberty of giving you a few potions and pokeballs to get you started, nothing to fancy of course, just the standard."
Birch exhaled out. Boy, that'd been quite a few words! Once he'd gotten his breath he was right back to grinning, however, and gestured to Mudkip. "You take good care of this little one, alright! I hope you two have a wonderful, and safe journey," he remarked. "If you need anything else, feel free to stop by. You're always welcome here." Today was turning out to be a fantastic day.

After picking the water type Pokemon, the little Mudkip let out a happy chirp. Hearing how happy the Pokemon was made Marina smile, lowering herself again to give him a few little pets. "I can't wait to start my adventure w-with you Mudkip!" Soon she started to think what kind of nickname she should give the little guy, maybe she'll figure it out once she leaves. Standing back up, she noticed how Professor Birch was smiling over the two of them.
"Oh, a Mudkip? What a great choice! In fact, the trainer just before you happened to pick a Mudkip too!" Hearing that, the girl let out a soft gasp. What were the odds that she would pick the same type of Pokemon as someone before her? Maybe she would bump into that trainer while on her adventure. She'd hoped so! Birch returned the other two Pokemon into their Pokeballs, soon giving Marina Mudkip's ball to her. Smiling, she held her hands out for the Pokeball, thanking the older man for it.
"Why thank you, Miranda!" Miranda? Did he just call her something else? Not wanting to ruin the older man's happy mood, she just let it slide. It didn't bother her a whole lot for someone saying her name wrong. Soon the Professor handed her the Pokedex and a few items, getting more excited, she took the items and put them into her shoulder bag, thanking the other once more.
Birch had let out a breath after explaining the girl about the items and such. Meanwhile the little Mudkip was hopping around Marina's feet, ready to go outside. "You take good care of this little one, alright! I hope you two have a wonderful, and safe journey." Her smile growing wider, she nodded her head. "Y-yes, thank you so much for e-everything Professor Birch! I promise I will!" With a quick bow to the other, Marina lowered down to pick up the little Pokemon before leaving the lab, giving the Professor a wave.

It was a long time since Julian had been traveling with his Pokemon, he missed the ones that he left behind to start traveling again, and wanted to see them again some day. Maybe one day he could bring some of them with them again, he missed Rose his Venusaur and Blaire his Dratini and his other Pokemon, but they were safe at home and he was getting ready to travel again with some new friends that he made. Nigel the Aipom was a new friend that he met, and the Aipom spent a lot of time hanging on his shoulder or back pack and liked to go anywhere that he could with his tail. And then he met Rina the Grumpig who walked with him too, she was nice and kind and liked walking around with Julian where ever they were going. Julian realized that starting on a new journey again meant he could get a new partner from a new professor, so he decided to go to Hoenn to meet Professor Birch. "Hello Professor Birch" Julian said, walking into the lab, smiling with Nigel and Rina. "Do you have a Torchic that I could take with me to travel?" he asked, wondering what the Torchic would be like if he got to meet one.
Birch turned his head towards the door upon it opening, a smile blossoming at the same time he turns his full body around to face the trainer who enters. "Good day to you!" he greets the young man, as well as the pokemon with him. Pleased to hear that he already had a starter in mind, the professor nodded his head eagerly before he started his march to the back room, where the pokemon were held. "Torchic is a great choice! I'll grab it right away, along with a few other, key, items!" As quick as a flash -- or rather... as quick as he can, Birch returns to Julian with a pokeball, a pokedex, and a medium-sized parcel. "Here you are! Your Torchic, a pokedex, and a few potions and pokeballs you'll certainly find yourself on your journey!" Birch explained, handing over the items as he spoke. Afterwards he dusted his hands together. "Now! If you don't need anything else, I'll bid you and your team farewell, and good luck on your journey!"
It had been a long journey, and the girl was excited to get it finally started. Or atleast, for real this time. She sighed at the thought of finally getting her first pokemon. After bothering her parents for years, she was finally here. Without her parents' knowledge of course, but that didn't matter to her. It didn't matter at all. She reached over her shoulder and lightly scratched at the phoenix on her back. The burn that scarred her and made her feel whole. After a moment of subconsciously scratching, she touched the head of her teddy. Dropping her hand from the bear hanging from her jacket, Aelin pushed open the door to the lab. Taking a deep breathe, holding it for a couple of seconds, and then releasing it, Aeling calmed her nerves enough to take several steps inside and look around. "Excuse me? Professor? I'm here to get my first pokemon..." She started pretty confidant, but with her voice echoing slightly, she was getting nervous.
Half-eaten sandwich in hand, clipboard in the other, and seated comfortably in his office chair, Professor watched as the starters ran about with each other: Treecko and Torchic were playing a game of chicken, adorable, while Mudkip investigated the nearby machinery. Things had been a bit packed lately, so the good professor had converted his work into a working lunch. It wasn't as relaxing as he was used to, but it was what had to be done.
He'd just taken another bite of his sandwich (salami with swiss cheese and tomato), when the front door was opened and a voice called out, requesting a pokemon. Birch stood up quickly, swallowing even fast, and made sure to brush his lab coat free of any crumbs before he placed his sandwich on his desk and rushed out to meet the new trainer. "Hello there!" Curious of the visitor, the three starters followed after the professor hastily. "What kind of pokemon were you hoping to get?"

Aelin looked around as she waited. She could hear something running around in another room and hoped that meant the professor was in. Just at that thought, the professor opened a door and stepped out. He greeted her and she smiled. "Hello, I'm Aelin. I was hoping for the fire type starter if you wouldn't mind." She said, trying to hide the excitement from her voice. The three pokemon that ran in behind the professor made Aelin gape slightly in curious awe. The three were cute. But she was sure the small chicken was the Torchic. And was pretty sure it was the fire type.
"A fire type? That would be Torchic!" At its name, the fire chick poked its head out from behind the professor's leg and gave a curious chirp. "I'll let you two get acquainted with each other while I gather the rest of your things," Birch offered, then turned to leave back for the room in which he'd just left. With a wave of his hand he motioned for the other two starters to follow him, which they did after tearing their gazes away from the brunette girl, and all three left the main room. Professor Birch hummed as he grabbed a pokedex and the items that would make-up, what he referred to as, the 'new trainer starter kit'. When he returned, alone this time, he presented the brunette with a grin and her items. "First and foremost, here's your Torchic's pokeball. You'll also be receiving your very own pokedex! These two are key to your journey as a pokemon trainer," Birch explained, excitedly. "I've also taken the liberty of providing you with a few potions and pokeballs, they should tide you over until you reach Oldale Town."
Birch scratched the side of his head, had he given her everything? After a moment, and a subtle head nod to himself, he decided that he had. That settled, he flashed another grin before crouching down to look at Torchic. "You two take good care of each other, alright? And don't be afraid to stop by my lab again if you need anything else!" he offered, then pulled himself back up.
Aelin looked up at the professor as he mentioned the Torchic. So it was the tiny bird. She smiled politely as the professor excused himself and went to get other things. She crouched and let the Torchic come to her so she could pat his head. "Hello Torchic. I'm Aelin. It's a pleasure to meet you." Before she could say anything else, the professor came back and handed her a pokedex, some potions and pokeballs. She put them into her bag and clipped Torchic's ball to her belt. Picking up the torchic, Aelin nodded happily. "Thank you so much Professor, i'm sure we will be fast friends!" She nuzzled the fire type and then left the lab. Happier than ever that she now could actually start her journey. She was a trainer.

Ryou looked avidly around the lab, making sure to take everything around him. He couldn't believe he was here, he was in a real pokemon lab. He had never seen one, had never seen anything outside of Blackthorn really. Even though the boy had no real interest in pokemon research being somewhere so different than where he had been all his life was...exhilarating. And he was here to get his pokemon his-well, not his first pokemon, Kai and the clan had seen to that. But it was his first pokemon outside of the dragon den's decicion and that was just as important. "Hello?" he called out.
This batch of starters was as lively as ever. Torchic and Treecko playing what seemed to be a game of tag, Mudkip was either cheering for one side or the other. The professor chuckled as he took another bite of a ham and cheese sandwich, ready to continue his research. The habitats of a particular zigzagoon was fairly intriguing today. Of course, it was fairly intriguing everyday but today he could actually make a breakthrough and maybe put 2 and 2 together! Setting down his sandwich, professor Birch started jotting down more notes when a voice called out. Oh? A visitor? Looking around his desk he noticed what seemed to be a young man. "Oh! A new trainer?! Hello! I'm professor Birch. How can I help you?" he asked as he jumped from his chair.
"if you are here for a starter, there are 3 fantastic options. Fire, Grass, and Water. Or Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip respectively." as he said their name, the playful pokemon jumped up and around his feet to look at the new person.
Ryou looked up at the professor schooling his face into an amicable smile and hoping his startlement at his arrival hadn't shown. "Good afternoon Professor Birch, I'm Ryou Yagami from Blackthorn city" the boy said inclining his head politely, hands at his side. When he asked what he could help him with Ryou's smile grew. "I'm here to pick up my starter." he said showing the older man his trainer's registration card. It turned out he and the professor were in the same train of thought as he mentioned the starter pokemon and three little starters jumped up in front of him. Ryou couldn't help but grin as he leaned down, he had seen pokemon outside of the dragon den of course. Living in a city with a gym you couldn't help but see every trainer that walked in to challenge the leader ( or the buzz that rippled through the town at the news of Claire's latest victim) but now he was going to get to keep one. "Well hi" he said by way of greeting. The pokemon seemed to regard him with some curiosity. On a whim, he extended his hand and the torchic ran forward bumping her head against it. "This one I think." Ryou said scratching the torchic the chin.
