Teddy was glad that he too could have a Bulbasaur of his own. He imagined he would get the chance to find the others someday, but he was quite content with the Pokemon he had chosen. He clasped his hand around the Pokeball passed to him by Professor Oak and looked down smiling. "I'm looking forward to meeting you little friend. To many adventures!" he whispered into the ball. Teddy went to attach the ball to his belt only to hit bare skin."And here I am without my battle trunks" he said with a sigh.
Then, before he knew it Teddy was being handed more equipment. With the feeling he would soon be taking up the profession of a juggler, he opened the towel that Professor Oak had provided and took on as many of the Pokeballs and Potions he could, whilst slipping the Pokedex into the band of his trunks.
"I can't help but feel I will be somewhat eaten alive in the outside world Professor, but you've given me some tools to help me get at least half way through. Thank you. You won't be sorry." Teddy exclaimed, wrapping the towel up into some kind of knapsack and slinging it over his shoulder. With that, he left the laboratory and out into Pallet Town.

If he'd been surprised to hear Matt ask for a Bulbasaur as he did, he couldn't imagine what he looked like after Teddy asked for one as well; apparently deciding on a whim.
Professor Oak had done it all before, however, and after a moment he'd given them all their Pokémon and offered them a wealth of Pokéballs and Potions for them to take along on their journeys. Hayes followed Matt and Teddy's example and made an effort to take as many of the items as he could, until Oak returned with another item; a Pokédex. He took a moment to make a request of them as well as remind them to enjoy themselves, and Hayes nodded in understanding.
"I appreciate it, Professor." Hayes said as he accepted the Pokédex, a bit awed at the prospect of having a Pokédex of his own as it started to sink in that it wouldn't be long until he was underway. After he'd put it away and ran a hand over Bulbasaur's Pokéball, he gave another nod in the Professor's direction and headed out of the lab and into Pallet Town, although he'd fallen a bit behind the other two who'd also gotten their Pokémon.

This megastone was your grandmother's Vince, but she wants you to have it now. Both for good luck on your journey, and your new partner.
Vince sat on the New Bark train as it traveled towards Kanto, eyes closed as he felt the warm Charizardite X in his palm and brushed over the smooth sheen with his thumb thoughtfully. His other arm rested behind his head while he reclined in his seat, waiting to arrive at his destination. There weren't many people on the train with him, which he supposed was probably a good thing. He cracked one eye open to glance down at the sea green lump of fur sitting attentively in the seat next to him. "...You don't need to be on guard Xiu. There aren't any other people here." The lupup glanced up at Vince with an unamused look. Just because there weren't any other people around currently didn't mean that no one would walk in at any given moment. She couldn't just fall asleep. She wouldn't. Vince sighed, closing his eyes again, though soon after, there was a jolt as his train seemed to have finally stopped at Pallet Town.
This of course made Xiu Feng jump up to her feet and start growling. Vince resisted the urge to roll his eyes, and instead pet her head gently. "Calm Xiu Feng. The train has just stopped. This is where we get off." The lupup was young, she had no experience with trains up until now, and she was still tempering her protective instincts. Honestly, Vince worried that bringing her into the lab was going to be an issue. "...Xiu," Vince started as they walked off of the train and into Pallet Town. "If I'm going to allow you to stay out of your pokeball while we go inside of this lab, you need to behave yourself." Vince insisted. The little lupup growled and whined a bit at the idea. "I'm not saying you can't be watchful. Just... Don't lunge and bite everyone that tries to come near, okay?" Vince tried to reason with her. Xiu huffed, sticking close to Vince's feet. She seemed to at least acknowledge the terms. Whether or not she would actually follow them remained to be seen.
It was easy to spot the lab among all the other cottages among Pallet. The building was a lot larger and industrial than the others, and as Vince approached, he glanced down at Xiu Feng to check on her. She seemed a bit more tense, the fur on her back already beginning to bristle with all of these unfamiliar humans around and inside the lab. Feeling Vince's eyes on her though, she looked up and noticed his expectant look. He wasn't going inside until she had calmed down. The lupup sat with a grumble, waiting for Vince to open the door. Eventually they moved inside, and Vince checked Xiu regularly to make sure she wasn't doing anything other than giving the aides the evil eye. It wasn't preferred, but he would take dirty looks over barking her head off and attacking them for being within a 10 foot radius of him. Unfortunately her clearly unfriendly aura was diverting aides away from them rather than allowing Vince to ask one of them where Professor Oak. Vince sighed. Looked like he was doing this the hard way. He approached one of the aides who looked a little less busy than the others, hands in his pockets. "Excuse me, where might I be able to find Professor Oak?"

ouo why hello there, Mr. Dragon Tamer.
It'd been relatively quiet for the past few days, something Oak appreciated and made sure to take advantage of. It'd given him time to finish up a few field studies he'd started, correspond to a few messages from the other professors and give him some time to relax, the latter he rarely had time to do. With a cup of coffee clasped in his hands the older man moved about the laboratory, greeting a few aides and checking on a few of their own projects. He lifted his cup to his mouth, taking a long sip from it, and from the corner of his eye he watched with curiosity as one of the aides made a beeline for him, rather nervous. The young man was quick to explain the situation, as well as the point out the source of the problem which just so happened to double as a new trainer. "Ah," with a nod of understanding Oak slid his coffee onto the free corner of a table before he strode to approach the dark-skinned male.
"I'm right here," The man spoke, answering Vince's question before the aide he'd flagged down had the chance to. Oak looked down at the sea-green at the trainer's feet, the root of his aides' anxiety, and couldn't help but to tilt his head to the side. Well, he couldn't say he recognized that pokemon-- which was rather rare. "What can I help you with?" he asked, turning his attention back to the pokemon's owner. "Come for a starter?"

Before Vince could get an answer from the aide in question, an older, more experienced voice spoke up to answer his question. Ah, so this was the world famous Professor Oak. Vince gave a small smile. The kindly old man reminded him a bit of the elder in Blackthorn City. Xiu Feng didn't quite see it that way unfortunately, and gave an audible growl as the elder man approached and looked at her. It made the other two aides back away, but Oak seemed rather calm. Vince glanced down to Xiu with a frown, thankful she was staying put, but rather upset with her unbridled hostility. His attention turned back to Oak when he asked if Vince had come for a starter. "Shì de, lǎoshī." Vince brought his hands out of his pockets and placed a fist into an open palm, giving a slight bow before relaxing again. "I would like to request a charmander, if that is acceptable." Vince asked.
The formal behavior had caused Xiu Feng to stop growling and blink curiously at Vince. He had greeted Oak with the same respect he gave the dragon elder. The revelation was enough to stop her aggression at least, but she still gave Oak a wary eye, not entirely sure what was going on. "Ah, and please excuse my companion's rude behavior. She is rather... Distrustful of most humans." Vince explained to Oak with a weary smile. "I promise, if she causes any trouble, I will return her to her pokeball." He nodded, shooting the lupup a look to remind her of their promise outside of the lab. Xiu Feng huffed, ears flattening as she averted her gaze. So what if she put a few humans on edge? Best to let them know that they wouldn't get away with trying anything right off the start. It was just a fair warning. Vince clearly wasn't having it here though, probably because of that old man. Xiu shot Oak another glare. This was all his fault. What did he do to earn Vince's respect? He didn't smell familiar at all, so she didn't care what Vince thought, she didn't trust him.

Vin-Van the dragon man, and his adorable sidekick! -hugs Xiu-
Oak gave another look down to Xiu when she growled and, while formidable enough to scare his aides back a few inches, he stood his ground and instead offered the unfamiliar pokemon a soft smile. He'd been around a few dozen decades enough to have come across an overprotective pokemon, and it didn't bother him. In fact, it was rather commendable to see the pokemon so attached to her trainer, it just showed that he took good enough care of her for her to love him. Oak couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow at Vince's words, though his smile remained. Although he recognized the language as Chinese he wasn't fortunate enough to understand the actual words spoken to him, but from Vince's tone of voice he was amicable enough.
"Yes, it is. Please, wait here and I'll go get your Charmander and a few other items." Usually he would have offered for the trainer to follow after him, just to sedate any curiosity he might have had for the laboratory, but given his aides' jittery behavior he figured it was best he simply wait here. Oak waved away Vince's behavior, another smile rising. "It's fine, she isn't any trouble at all. We'll just have to make sure not to rile her up too much, no unexpected movement or loud noises." With those words, which hinted towards a warning to his aides, the professor turned around to retrieve Vince's items and pokeball. He made sure to keep his trip relatively short, not wanting to make either Vince or his pokemon wait, and returned within minutes. "Here you are, a Charmander and Pokedex. As well as a few potions and pokeballs to get you started." Oak stopped for a moment, blinking slowly as a certain realization dawned on him. "Can I get your name, young man? I need it to register your pokedex."

Vince knew that Oak probably didn't know Chinese, but it was reflex for Vince to respond in such a way to his elders, and in spite of not knowing, Oak seemed to get the gist at least. Besides, Vince continued in english, explaining that he actually wanted a charmander specifically, and with that, Oak seemed to comply to his request thankfully, though he asked Vince to wait there while he retrieved everything. Vince didn't mind waiting, but somehow he got the feeling that it wasn't normal to be asked to wait, given the light surprise on a few of the aide's faces. Vince simpered, having a feeling it was probably because of Xiu. It was really a struggle. He had been raised to treat the lupup line with the utmost respect, but Xiu was a child, and needed to learn that this behavior was going to get them both into trouble if he let it continue. He tensed for a moment, restraining his irritation, but then let it go with a sigh, deciding the best he could do was apologize for Xiu Feng's behavior.
Oak seemed so... Nonchalant about it. Perhaps Vince had misread things. The professor wasn't mad or scared, he just... Understood. Though Vince did catch the subtle warning to his aides about unexpected movement and loud noises. "Aiya... Xiu, you're going to get me in trouble." Vince muttered, glancing down to an indignant lupup who held her head high as if she'd done nothing wrong. The wait was almost unbearable, but eventually Oak came back at last with his charmander, as well as some supplies and a pokedex for the road. "Ah, thank you." Vince gave a light smile of relief, clipping the charmander's pokeball to his belt and pulling off the black backpack from his shoulders to sort his new items into.
When Oak asked his name however, Vince grimaced. Arceus he hated his full name. Both English and Chinese. He would have given the Chinese one simply because Oak wouldn't know what it actually meant but... Considering he would be going by Vince, he figured that probably wasn't a good idea. "...Vincent Belduke." He said after a moment. "Thank you Professor." He nodded, slinging the pack back over his shoulder and making his way out of the building, much to the aides' relief.

The recent discovery of the Mega Stone, Gengarite, further disproves this theory due to it's incompatibility with the Clefairy evolution line. Further more..." Alexis' pencil slipped from her fingers as the tripped up on a large root in the ground. She swore out loud, staring at the long streak of graphite she had drawn over her hard work. "Typical." She sighed, reaching into her backpack. She pulled it out from a small pencil bag she received for her last birthday. I had the words 'I love Pokémon' written using Unown as letters. She loved this pencil case.
It had been a long journey to the Kanto Region, but Alexis only managed to catch up on a fraction of the pile of research she packed with her for the trip. Sure, one wouldn't normally carry so much on their Pokémon Journey. However she also had a career goal in mind and she was determined to get her degree. If she had any hope of making it, she had to work herself as hard as she did her Pokemon.
Alexis let out a sigh of relief as she saw the road sign for Pallet Town. Despite her desperate urge to shower and make herself presentable, she really wanted to get started. She walked straight for the Pokémon Lab and opened the door.
She was shaking with anticipation. Professor Oak was the world's leading Pokémon Professor. He was his idol. She wasn't really sure what to say to the man as she approached his desk.
"Um...Professor Oak? My name is Alexis Willow, I wrote to you from Lumios City..." She could hear the nervousness in her voice.

Yay first posts! The first post is always the hardest, congrats. Also that trainer card is a neat little system! I always love seeing how people organize their bags and such. Welcome to the guild!~
Oak was keeping himself quite busy at his desk while he finished transferring some field notes to the digital database, as well as printing them out and filing the physical copies away. It was quite the task, after all, most of his notes at a younger age were before the digital age. He still had yet to transcribe them all. Still, in spirt of how busy he was, he glanced up with a gentle smile as a young lady approached his desk, introducing herself and commenting that she had written him. Oak's smile faltered as he glanced over to the pile of mail and emails he had yet to go through. "Ah... I do apologize miss Willow, I've fallen a bit behind in my mail, and I don't believe I've read yours just yet." He apologized sincerely and stood. "But! I believe these things are much better handled face to face. Tell me dear, what brings you all the way here from Lumiose to see me? Are you looking for an interview? To receive a starter pokemon?" He asked, setting his materials aside for now to devote his attention to this kind, albeit nervous, looking trainer.

Alexis was clearly caught of guard. She had traveled all this way thinking she was expected, only to find herself needing to explain her situation. It wasn't as though she prepared a speech or anything. However, upon further thought, perhaps it was better if Oak hadn't read her letter. It was, after all, several pages longer than it needed to be. She had included some sketches and a few theories on Pokemon behavior but now she felt like that might have been a bit much.
"O-Oh!" Alexis stammered, setting her bag on the desk with a soft thud. "Well, at first, I was going to apply for an internship here at your lab. After all, you are the world's leading Pokemon Researcher..n-not that I'm trying to suck up to you or anything like that." Alexis scratched the back of her head. As usual, her mouth was moving before her brain could tell her to shut up.
"Anyway...I had the forms filled out and everything to apply but I just couldn't send them." The girl reached into her bag and pulled out a book. It was old and worn, looking as if it had lived a good, well read life.
"I've read all your work. I've read the works of all the top experts in the world. But memorizing other people's words isn't enough to become an expert yourself...I learned that the hard way."
"So, instead of shadowing you, I wanted to make my own path - learn things my way. The only way of really doing that is to become a proper trainer myself, to go out and see the world the way you wrote them down in these books."
Alexis sighed, feeling rather proud of her impromptu speech. "So please, Professor Oak...let me choose my first Pokemon the same way many of the best trainers did."
Location: Kanto - Pallet Town - Oak's Lab Companions: Oak Combatants: Health:Stable Chronological Post Count: oo2 OOC: Thanks! This is so great!
Oak noted how surprised Alexis was when Oak noted that he hadn't read her mail yet, and felt a bit bad, but there were only so many hours in a day, he was sure she would understand. What she explained however, took Oak by surprise. She had been thinking about applying for an internship, here specifically since he was the world's leading pokemon researcher. Oak chuckled as she promised that she wasn't trying to suck up to him or something of that sort. "Not to worry, I'm quite flattered actually." He insisted, though she soon explained that she couldn't send the forms, as she wanted to make her own path rather than follow in his shadow. Oak smiled warmly at that. This girl was wise beyond her years if she had come to this realization on her own. "I would be happy to assist you in beginning your pokemon journey. You're making the right choice Alexis, in my opinion. You're still young, with your whole life ahead of you. Go learn and experience the world of pokemon for yourself. After that, I would be more than happy to accept you as a member of this lab, should you still wish." He smiled warmly.
With that, he turned. "Come, let's go find you a suitable starter hm?" He insisted, leading her back to the incubation room. "You were planning to intern, so I assume you know, and have studied the starters we have available here. Did you have a particular starter in mind?" He asked curiously once they entered the room, moving to the machine that contained three pokeballs and typing in a keycode to open the glass hatch up.

Alexis felt her face grow hot, she knew she must have been blushing like crazy. But this time it wasn't out of embarrassment, but out of pride. Professor Oak's praise wasn't something one should take for granted. Knowing that he agreed with her ideals only reaffirmed her belief that she was doing the right thing.
She tried to contain her excitement as Oak brought her into the incubation room. many 'ooo's and 'ahhh's escaped her as she walked passed the machines.
"Oh yeah. Bulbasuar, Squirtle, and..." Alexis hesitated. "Ch-Charmander..." She shivered a little. She was not fond of fire-type Pokémon. She used to think they were a fascinating source of energy. However after a rather bad accident she developed a fear for the creatures. Just thinking about the flame on Charmander's tail was enough to raise her anxiety.
"I-I decided Squirtle is my preferred choice." Alexis continued, trying to regain her composure before Professor Oak noticed. "There's a lot to learn about water type Pokémon." She nodded, confirming her decision.
Location: Kanto - Pallet Town - Oak's Lab Companions: Oak Combatants: Health:Stable Chronological Post Count: oo3 OOC:
Unsurprisingly, the ex potential intern was engrossed with everything Oak's lab had to offer. Oak could only chuckle. This was the second huge fan of his that had come into the lab lately, at least as far as he knew. That other young man... It had been a while since Oak first gave him his charmander. He wondered how the boy was doing, but couldn't quite recall his name... Darrek? Dylan? Something starting with a D. Ah well. Oak was certain that he would be hearing from the boy again soon, as sure as he was going to her from Alexis again after she went through her journey. As Oak attempted to lead the conversation towards Alexis' choice of starter pokemon, she began rattling off their names, though stumbled a bit when it came to charmander. Oak wasn't sure if she just didn't remember or was distracted by something else on her mind, but whatever the case she quickly rebounded back, stating quickly that squirtle was going to be her official choice, since there was a lot to learn about water pokemon. "Hahaha. There is a lot to learn about every pokemon my dear. Each individual pokemon is unique and fascinating, that is why I've spent my life studying them. So, if you're looking to pick a starter that you can learn from, and choice is the correct one." He chuckled, picking up the ball in the center of the three and handing it over to Alexis. "Here you are. This squirtle is all yours." He nodded.
Afterwards, he replaced the ball with another squirtle from storage, closing and locking the incubator before making record of Alexis' registration so that it would be noted that she had received her official starter. Then, he pulled open two drawers, one filled with pokeballs, and the other filled with potions. "Here, this lab has a great deal of supplies for a beginning trainer. Take anything you need, and then feel free to take even more just in case." He insisted with a chuckle. "In the meantime, I will be right back." He turned to leave the room for a moment while she gathered her supplies. When he came back, he had a small red device in his hands, which he handed to Alexis when she was ready. "This, as I'm sure you know, is a pokedex. Take it with you as well, to help on your journey and collect data that I'm sure you will find useful in the future." He nodded. "Good luck my dear. The world of pokemon awaits you."
Alexis grasped the ball in both hands. It felt heavier than she thought it did. Whether or not it was the ball itself, or the newfound responsibility it represented...she wasn't sure.
The ball opened up, and her Squirtle jumped from the ball in a burst of white light. There was an instant connection. She didn't see the creature as a science experiment, or a research subject. Instead she fell in love with the creature. She was going to raise it right.
After collecting her Pokedex, Items, and returned her Pokémon, she turned back to the Professor. "Thank you so much, Professor Oak. I'll be sure to make you proud." She bowed in respect to man and left the lab - ready to start her new adventure in Pallet Town.

The job was really quit simply, get a hold of and untrained Bulbasaur for the client as prof of her skills, receive payment and a second job with a much more substantial pay. They hadn't even specify where the pokemon should come from but logically this was the quickest option with the highest rate of success. Fremy had as a result stalked the professor and his property and the pokemon that resided in the lab for nearly two months. Her original assumption of striking hard and fast had proven to be the most effective course possible to ensure a successful job. There was little to no security save the pokemon that roamed the grounds and the lab generally only have two to five persons on staff a day and that fluctuated. Today was to be a day of just two if the pattered held up. The professor would open the front door and his assistant would be outside waiting. They'ed go inside then prepare for the trainers who would be arriving sometimes later.
Right on time, the assistant pulled up in his green compact eco friendly car and was getting out. The professer would be seconds away from the door. Sure enough there he was. Time to act in three, two, one. As the professor went to closed the door Fremy rushed out from her hiding spot. Grabbing the door right before it could close and holding it. Peering side she waited until the men rounded the corner and where out of sight before slipping inside letting the door close gently behind her. She needed to be in and out without being spotted. The men had a routine they would get coffee and sit and talk for about an hour. Plenty of time to be in and out.
Slipping past the men and into the lab she had already stacked out the place well enough that she knew right where the pokemon where kept and sure enough three red and white orbs set atop the desk as well as a few goodies. She was just about to snatch up all three orb's when professor oak himself walked in on her. She froze in place a moment. She didn't looked to surprised but that was generally because she had a resting b***h face. "Oh, umm professor hi? Im here for a pokemon. Sorry i didn't knock." Play it cool. It was a good thing she'd left her Blunderbuss outside with her Rapidash or this would be a mild bit interesting to say the least.
