so i notice the last few days, it take quite a while for the entry picture to update to my new avi. (when you are entering a runway for the next day the picture shows up and says "is this the avi you want to enter?" it took a long while for it to update to the new avi i made to enter. about 1/2 hour last night. not a big deal, but sometime a placement can come down to when you entered.)
Entries are handled by a task scheduler which runs in the background. The system sometimes takes longer because of site traffic. We will add more servers to shorten the response time as soon as possible.

Arenas Seems like the avatar arenas are finally back up and almost working properly. ('View all' link still not working) When will the prize money amount change to reflect the inflation? I understand that the project to completely update arenas may not be a reasonable option this year.
I'll add that to the bug list, and we should be able to up the prize money considerably. Thanks for letting me know.
In future can we get to see our avatars that were favorited from Runway museum in 'MY TAGGED AVATARS' collection too? At the moment only ones that were favorited directly from us show up

Features - Runway Museums
Recently, after the day of no cost last...week?, the big museum listing recently kinda busted? All museums from before 03 31 19 are now showing as empty, but I believe they must still be somewhere in the system since avatars in favorites for all those museums are still active. And that also leads me to believe that something got switched unintentionally when the no cost was being fixed. I'm just curious if we'll ever be able to see those museums again or not?
Whoops, we changed a few things on the database to widen the support for other Runways and that probably broke the museum. We will have it fixed later today.
Would it be possible to revisit the required item "filter" that was implemented on Runway at one point? Off-theme entries continue to plague Runway, especially in contests that require a particular item, and it would be nice to see a solution that doesn't require dragging mods away from more pressing issues. smile
Is the required item feature not working? I can add that to the bug list.

greets! the runway currently has an issue with off-theme avatars entered into topics with item restrictions. is it possible to get a filer system to weed these out and save the mods (and voters) time? (example being the "gothic veil" this past week - see thread for more info on the issue. Heliotropical suggests this as a solution on the bottom of page 3)
this is just my personal addition, but it would be kinda cool if such a filter could reduce set abuse too (like you can use an item twice at max, but any more will stop you at the gate or something)

I see where you're coming from. On the software side it is very hard to identify if someone is on theme or not. We can potentially use existing keywords but we will have a very high chance of false positives which blocks a lot of legitimate entries from posting. I'm also not sure about the idea of forcing an item to be used X number of times, as that doesn't seem to factor into the idea fo keeping entries in theme. Please elaborate when you get a chance.

Features - Runway Firstly, thank you for all the attention y'all've been giving runway lately emotion_kirakira I'm not sure if it would be possible or to complicated, but would it be maybe BE possible at some point in the future to be able to choose what way our entries face when entering? The closet shows avatars facing one way while the entry page shows the complete opposite view :< There are a number of items that change when facing the other way (some below in spoiler) and while this is neat (!) It sometimes makes it hard to build entries for.
Yes, we can horizontally flip the avatar before saving it on Runway. I'll add that to the to-do list for an option.

so right now the total prize for the runway's free theme is 1,659 plat. split between 10 users. was wondering if this could be scaled up a bit to better reflect our economy? cuz right now a user only needs to post twice to make the same amount as 1st place ..which is kinda underwhelming sweatdrop

Are staff aware of the issue with the Captcha on Runway? For some users when the Captcha prompt shows up for voting, it just is the loading circle forever, meaning that they cannot have votes counted past the first instance of the Captcha appearing.
This page has some users discussing the issue in some more detail (together with some other chatter related to Runway).

It seems Runway's decided to act up again D: Since August 2nd, the runway has not been automatically updating the Museum of Museums nor sending out prizes the following morning. The following is speculation but this does come on a roughly one year anniversary of a total runway break when the first of the month bugs were still a thing, so it seems a bit more like residue of that perhaps, unless something was just accidentally hit D:
Regardless of the cause it would be nice to see the automatic prize and museum systems up and running again soon if possible!
We've been making a lot of major changes to the backend, and although it shouldn't affect Gaia Runway, looks like I still made some mistakes along the way. sweatdrop
I'll look into fixing it tonight. Things should be back to normal starting tomorrow.

Speaking of runway, would it also be possible to see a prize increase in the gold and free tiers? It would make sense to be able to place in either tier and then be able to use those winnings to enter a higher tier and at this point those placing in 9th and 10th either way wouldn't be able to enter the higher tier. The places above could see a relatively small increase to compensate (not... compensate... something, words) perhaps? It wouldn't have to be an immediate change but if possible it would be neat to see as like some kind of better reward for placing at all ah ha.
Yes, a mobile update is coming and we will increase the rewards across the board. The mobile version will have a system similar to what you mentioned with a ticket system.

Features - Catwalk! (And Runway too!) So catwalk was pushed out recently, it looks kinda neat, maybe in its later stages I won't mind messing around with it o:
Currently it IS making me worried though. The voting pool for catwalk is pulling from all three current RUNWAY themes, which is leading to a whole other can of worms with abnormally high vote counts and random basically off-theme entries placing. Hmm. I've spoilered a couple of extra issues with it in relation between the two since it's more supplemental and not really a question question.
But FOR the question question Was Catwalk always intended to pull from Runway entries or is this just early day bugs? I was under the impression these would be two separate features.

First off, SOMETHING, perhaps this is leading to botlike numbers. People that entered gold on 08 13 19 had over 3000 votes. It's been YEARS since we saw any numbers like that. It's actually been like A year since people broke like 400 :/
- The plat incentive, I get, like I understand why it's there. At some point, it switches to 50p per vote (whether on a newly voted entry or not) and uhhh stays there? For...ever? That's uh not great, in the grand scheme of things? This actually appears to be largely a visual glitch, but it also adds more random votes into the runway system.
- There's zero cooldown. On runway, you can vote on X and if you get X in your next pair, you have to wait like 30 seconds before you can vote on X again. I was actually super fortunate to get this situation today with minimal voting. There was. No cooldown. No 30 seconds, just a second vote and boom 50p, next pair. I've also seen someone mention that the captcha (that normally activates after 20 votes) is not affected by voting on the app, meaning endless voting whether you're subbed or not.
- Like the early days of runway, you can also uh vote for your own entry D: Which is. Hmm. We've recently seen an influx of cheating return, so I think making it easier for the most determined in anyway is not good.
- Voting ON runway entries through the catwalk app also grants the entries being voted on not just one vote. But... seemingly random numbers. In a small test, we saw "one" vote give 130 and another "single" vote give 250. Another one we saw over 1.5k D: This info has been compiled nicer here and extra info has been sent along to a staff member.
If catwalk and runway are going to stay connected then I feel like the above should be addressed. Personally I feel like they shouldn't? Let them stand on their own two feet and all that. But! If it is just early day jitters! Great! I'm excited to see what catwalk will bring us. Standing alone though, it should perhaps bring a bit lower voting incentive and not allow people to vote for their own entry. But as long as voting is separate from runway, I think both features will turn out just fine!

Runway entries show up when there isn't enough catwalk entries. Once more users submit through Catwalk, there will be no more Runway entries.
I do notice the unusually high numbers, I'll run through the voting log and reset the vote values and fix any bugs causing this. Thank you for the report!

Related to prizes not going out and runway currently in a STATE, would it be possible to suspend prizes for the time being until the voting issues are resolved?
It would be nice for the system to still address the missing prizes from the 6th to the 11th, but since then things have been a little... screwy (yesterday (13th) especially) because of the catwalk addition. Of course! In this time it would be nice if the big museum could continue to update c:

In a previous AtS, long, long ago, someone asked about changing the runway rule that allows asking for votes in CB to no longer be allowed. A staff member said you would revisit the idea of removing the exemption of CB votes, but nothing has come from it, so can we now get a definite answer to that question? Can we change the rules to no longer allow begging for votes anywhere?
Sorry we couldn't find a good way to automatically enforce this rule. Unlike Avatar Arena, it was much harder to detect patterns where this is happening. For the time being, we can only have moderators remove Runway entries from reports of this happening.
Just nosy. Is there an achievement for participating in and/or voting in the new app feature, Catwalk?
Yes we do have achievement planned and will release them after we finish ironing out the rules and prizes for Catwalk

Game: Catwalk Are we going to get an info thread about Catwalk? Like how does it work, what are the rules, and what are Gaia's future plans for it.
We are currently fixing issues with Catwalk, but once it's ready we will add more info on the feature inside the app. Sorry the feature itself is not very intuitive at the moment.
I tried getting someone's attention on this last week, but sometime on Wednesday to Thursday the catwalk museums broke and aren't updating (and featured themes haven't granted rewards). Any chance to get that patched? Best Served Cold is the only museum that appeared properly on Wednesday while the silver and gold themes are missing. After that it's just not updating at all.

random question for Runway. background first: so I wanted to enter my current avi in the runway today. but when i went to enter it, my saying changed (which i forget it does) from Let's Go! to I'll Save you!! the second of which does not fit the avi or the theme. so i didn't enter.
for items that change depending on which way they are facing. could we be allowed to chose which direction our avi is facing when we enter? so it will still follow the original design we had planned.
thank you. sorry if it's too difficult. please let me know. i can drop it. but i think our fitting room is always flipped from the entry, so it can get confusing.
Being able to choose the direction is a cool idea. I'll add that to the todo list. Sorry I'm not sure what might have caused you to see different info before and while entering the contest. Hope I can collect more info on these events.
