Will the Go Gaia app be supporting private messages anytime soon? I know there was an announcement about chats made recently. I'm simply wanting to clarify if they are different and/or if I can send and recieve private messages in the app. Please and thank you. smile
The new chat feature for Go Gaia app will work more like popular chat features like Google Hangout or WeChat. Unfortunately it's not backwards compatible with the current private messaging system but it should be more responsive and easier to use. We will find ways to add the new system to giaaonline instead.

The Lake Kindred Origins forum is still missing. If you aren't bringing it back, can you at least move the guide to guides forum so we can see it?
And if the game is not going to be worked on again when staff is rehired, can you at least release the rest of the event " ? " kin?
I didn't even realize that the forum wasn't viewable! I think (I hopefully) did it right, it should be moved to Gaia Gaming Discussion once the page caches!
Will there be any development of the GaiaOnline app for Android? I know there is one for Apple already. I had the app for Android before it became unavailable, and while it was buggy, I liked the prospect of it.
Yes, we will be adding more features to both the IOS and Android apps. They share the same framework so we can update both platforms at once. Though with limited time we usually test with the IOS version before we push updates to both platforms.

ever since about a week and a half ago, kindred no longer loads at all for some people on some devices. it just shows a black screen. please undo whatever backend change caused this. ): i miss being able to play on my phone...
Updates are coming soon as well as ability to play LK in the mobile app. Hopefully things will start working for you again.

for the past 3 weeks or so, kindred has been blackscreening for certain people on certain devices. what this means is the game does not load at all. screenshot of dolphin on my iPhone (though none of my many browsers work, not even trying through the reddit app)
when i saw kindred was in the app now, i immediately updated only to be crushed by another blackscreen.
a few other people have been having this problem. what could possibly cause the game to not load at all?
We will need to run some debug when the problem is occuring to find out what the cause would be. Please open your browser's console log (if on desktop) and see if there are any errors in the error log. Otherwise we will need to reproduce it on our end to fix the issue. I will talk to Lionheart about this and see if he has any other ideas.

3. Moreover, a lot of users reported an issue related to the achievement for visiting Lake Kindred through the Go Gaia App, basically the site doesn't recognize that users visit LK through the app, therefore they cannot claim their achievement for that.

Features - Catwalk! (And Runway too!) So catwalk was pushed out recently, it looks kinda neat, maybe in its later stages I won't mind messing around with it o:
Currently it IS making me worried though. The voting pool for catwalk is pulling from all three current RUNWAY themes, which is leading to a whole other can of worms with abnormally high vote counts and random basically off-theme entries placing. Hmm. I've spoilered a couple of extra issues with it in relation between the two since it's more supplemental and not really a question question.
But FOR the question question Was Catwalk always intended to pull from Runway entries or is this just early day bugs? I was under the impression these would be two separate features.

First off, SOMETHING, perhaps this is leading to botlike numbers. People that entered gold on 08 13 19 had over 3000 votes. It's been YEARS since we saw any numbers like that. It's actually been like A year since people broke like 400 :/
- The plat incentive, I get, like I understand why it's there. At some point, it switches to 50p per vote (whether on a newly voted entry or not) and uhhh stays there? For...ever? That's uh not great, in the grand scheme of things? This actually appears to be largely a visual glitch, but it also adds more random votes into the runway system.
- There's zero cooldown. On runway, you can vote on X and if you get X in your next pair, you have to wait like 30 seconds before you can vote on X again. I was actually super fortunate to get this situation today with minimal voting. There was. No cooldown. No 30 seconds, just a second vote and boom 50p, next pair. I've also seen someone mention that the captcha (that normally activates after 20 votes) is not affected by voting on the app, meaning endless voting whether you're subbed or not.
- Like the early days of runway, you can also uh vote for your own entry D: Which is. Hmm. We've recently seen an influx of cheating return, so I think making it easier for the most determined in anyway is not good.
- Voting ON runway entries through the catwalk app also grants the entries being voted on not just one vote. But... seemingly random numbers. In a small test, we saw "one" vote give 130 and another "single" vote give 250. Another one we saw over 1.5k D: This info has been compiled nicer here and extra info has been sent along to a staff member.
If catwalk and runway are going to stay connected then I feel like the above should be addressed. Personally I feel like they shouldn't? Let them stand on their own two feet and all that. But! If it is just early day jitters! Great! I'm excited to see what catwalk will bring us. Standing alone though, it should perhaps bring a bit lower voting incentive and not allow people to vote for their own entry. But as long as voting is separate from runway, I think both features will turn out just fine!

Runway entries show up when there isn't enough catwalk entries. Once more users submit through Catwalk, there will be no more Runway entries.
I do notice the unusually high numbers, I'll run through the voting log and reset the vote values and fix any bugs causing this. Thank you for the report!
i've heard that the app will have a new messaging feature? when will it be launched?
We are still testing the messaging feature right now, it should be ready in about two weeks

Cause I dislike how LK is super zoomed in and I have to zoom it out myself so I can see the entire screen lol

Game: Catwalk Are we going to get an info thread about Catwalk? Like how does it work, what are the rules, and what are Gaia's future plans for it.
We are currently fixing issues with Catwalk, but once it's ready we will add more info on the feature inside the app. Sorry the feature itself is not very intuitive at the moment.
When will a notifications system be added to the Gaia Mobile app? (idk if its already been implemented for the apple version, but there isnt one that i can see on the android version). It's frustrating to post in the forums on mobile and not know when someone has quoted you/replied or sent you a PM
We're working on that, along with chat features. I think chat will come out first then notifications.

I tried getting someone's attention on this last week, but sometime on Wednesday to Thursday the catwalk museums broke and aren't updating (and featured themes haven't granted rewards). Any chance to get that patched? Best Served Cold is the only museum that appeared properly on Wednesday while the silver and gold themes are missing. After that it's just not updating at all.

Curerntly no, as all our resources are focused on Gaia Online and GoGaia at the moment, we just don't have the resource to work on games outside of Gaia Online at the moment.

As of even just a few hours ago, we still cannot report content in the Go Gaia mobile app. However, we've been told in the monthly update that messaging for the app is in testing.
My quesiton is this: Where on Gaia's priority list is user safety if reporting still isn't a "supported" feature, but the company is adding real time messaging?
Sure, you have less than 10 active mods anyway, but at least they go after the severe violations before "lesser" ones. With no way to log and report potential problems from child predators to simple abuse in your arguably easiest to access version of Gaia, I have to wonder how much Gaia as a company is considering user safety these days.
Disclaimer: I already know that this kind of stuff is Customer Service's top priority, but they aren't the ones who allot resources, or we'd obviously have a lower ticket wait time, at least be trying to train more mods, etc. I'm asking where this is on the priority list of the person/people who do dole out the resources.
The upcoming messaging system is a system that will only work between friends, so no strangers can spam or send harmful content to other Gaians.
Though you are right that reporting is important. We have the reporting backend built and just need to implement a few frontend changes for the mobile forum.
On the regular Gaia Site, users can activate 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) to protect their account.
With 2FA, you need to go get a code from another app, and enter it within 30 seconds to login. It's quite secure.
Anyhow.
On the mobile app, there isn't any 2FA. Accounts with 2FA can directly login to the mobile app without any 2FA verification.
Whilst this isn't the greatest issue currently (as there are limited ways to take advantage, mainly involving spamming the forums) the fact remains that this is a GAPING security hole.
And when more features such as trading, gifting, market place and donating items are added to the app, it will become essential to have 2FA in the mobile app.
We've been planning to update our 2FA implementation and have it work with both login and other features. We will make 2FA work for both the mobile app and the website.

why did you choose to create an app from the ground up instead of updating the website to be mobile-friendly?
because now you have to not only re-create everything from square 1 but now if you have to update something you have to update it on both
why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone, with updating the backend and overall vibe of the website and make it mobile-friendly, so there is no need for a separate app? that way you only have to update 1 thing, and then do spot bug fixes where necessary?
Our main challenge was that the current website was built on top of 15 years worth of code, and switching it over to a new framework is much more difficult than starting a new app. With limited resource we shouldn't take on that big of a project. We were also cautious about changing the existing UI as every time we do so, it comes with a lot of unhappy Gaians. It'd be my dream to move the entire system to a new Javascript based framework so we can do cool stuff to both the web site and mobile at the same time.

Does gaia have any intention of displaying the Contents and Drop Rates of Chance Items?
As far as i am aware there is no place on the site to find a list of what items are contained within a chance item or what chances u have of actually receiving each item. I'd personally suggest putting a full list of both in https://www.gaiaonline.com/promo/chanceitem as well as linking to the page displaying odds and contents, within each item's description.
We've definitely been considering adding the feature to display drop rate for chance items. Most likely something which integrate with MP as we have so many chance items already released.
For the Go Gaia app, will you be adding a way to check PMs there without it being an "IM"?
I feel like the message feature there is lost when it's using IM instead of PM.
We will add feature for managing PM in a future update on the Go Gaia app. Actually we can implement the same IM from the app to the website. Which one would you prefer?

There are many users that cannot participate in Christmas tree decorating because they use an ipad or mobile and the event does not work because of the touchscreen. Can this be fixed at all? It seems unfair to me that they cannot participate, especially those who only have a mobile phone and use the new gaia app.

I had a question about the app in progress. I was wondering at what point in the timeline of development will forum 'post layouts' and images possibly be accessible/worked on? I'd love to be able to use the app, as it's much better than the mobile site, but due to how the RP forums are with images and post formats, most posts are entirely unreadable because the images don't load and (as far as I can tell with my lack of tech knowledge) everything else in the post gets shoved off the screen (and we can't scroll over to it either). I know it's more of a specific problem mainly confined to one forum (i.e. the RP forums) but it's a really big issue for any of us who are users of that forum and want to use the app.

Yes the forum area does have some redesigns coming. I'd love to be able to access all images too.
Is there any way to fix the bulletin board on the main page to where it works on mobile devices? Both my ipad and android phone do not allow me to scroll down on the bulletin board.
We did test the bulletin board with the latest IOS and Android devices. Please let us know what happens when you try to scroll down. Does the page itself just scrolls and not the content? Or is it not responsive at all? Which browser were you using?
