"I've got a head start on teamwork if that's what the name of the game is!" Jeong-jae posed victoriously. As a twin he'd grown up having to learn how to share and work together on things. It wasn't a for sure thing, since some twins hated each other, but it'd worked out for the two of them. Trust was something he had no struggle with and he found it easy to make allowances for extra people and the like.
"Potato soup? I figured you'd want a pie or something." Sticking his tongue out at Larisa, he teased her for her sweet personality. She had a very girlish quality despite being dressed up in a military uniform instead of a sundress. It was cute to see her turn dreamy but he'd really not expected it to be over potatoes! The blush on her cheeks hadn't completely faded away and if he could manage it, he'd keep it there for another ten minutes just to try and set some sort of record.
"Personally, I want some blueberry tarts! Any of you have a recipe for those?"

Eventually Hwan decided that the knitted things must've come from doing things to greatly impress Tuggle. The only question now was, what should he try first? But before he could get started, he overheard his brother talking to the others about things to try making once the fruit was grown. Larisa mentioned a potato soup that sounded promising and Jeong considered tarts.
"You know what would be really good? Zucchini bread! Hey is anyone here good at cooking and stuff?" Personally, he was on the lower end of average at that particular skill. It wasn't that he struggled creatively or with innovation but lacked the finesse and focus to really follow through on a recipe. Hwan easily lost interest in things and darted from one activity to the other. Like right now, he was winding wire but in a few minutes he'd be trying to draw pictures with it in the dirt.
"Three bits to the first person to bake me a loaf!"

She blinked at him and then laughed, shaking her head. "What did you think I meant when I said something sweet?" She countered, sticking her tongue out as well before considering the different foods they'd suggested. Blueberry tart and zucchini bread did both sound like they'd be good, though she wasn't sure how to make those particular things.
Of course, finding someone who could make things seemed to be the new turn of the conversation. She hesitated before opening her mouth again, wondering if they'd be disappointed that she couldn't make those particular things, but in the end couldn't pass up a chance to earn more points towards befriending everyone. "I used to cook a lot for my family. I mean, not always, but a lot of the time, so I think I'm pretty good at it." She shifted her weight, reaching out to adjust a board. "But I don't...Um, I'd need a recipe for those, I guess is what I'm saying."

"Don't worry about that part, I'll find one for you." Larisa had taken the bait and Hwan looked very excited that she would bake for him. He didn't know where he'd find a recipe but he'd search the library later to see if there was something that would work. He just needed to find a way to make bread, right? They could just like... add mashed zucchini in somehow and it'd taste fine, he was sure of it. Larisa seemed multi-talented, being good at sneaking around and having a powerful throwing arm. It was cute that she had a more girlish skill like baking as well! Well technically any one could bake, not just girls, but whatever.
"This is taking forever." Hwan groaned as he worked on the wiring some more. In reality, they were making pretty good progress, the boy just had the attention span of a fish was all. Wheels turned in his head as he tried to come up with better or faster ways to wind the materials together but to no avail. Hwan lacked the knowledge to do such a thing, usually leaving more complicated plans to Jeong who was a bit more competent in such matters.
"Maybe we should ask Tuggle for some magic gloves too. They seem to work." He raised his voice and hollered at the magical mustached man.
"Yo Tuggs! Got any more of those cool knitted things?"

"We'll hold you to that!" Jeong-jae brightened behind Hwan-jae. The pair were pleased to have suckered someone into their trap and definitely had plans to bother Larisa later for the promised goods. He didn't know where he'd get a recipe but someone around here probably had one. Maybe he'd ask his roommates later when he got home. He didn't know how skilled any of them were in the culinary arts but surely one of them knew someone who could help.
"Yeah or like a rag to wipe off this sweat. Damn it's hot!" The second twin groaned as the sun blazed above, torturing the poor workers helping out. Summer was over halfway through which was nice because he was starting to wish for fall. He liked seeing the girls dress lighter for the weather but hadn't managed to run into anything like that here at the military. It seemed a different type of girl signed up for this job.

They'd been at this a while and all the talk of food was waking his beast of a belly back up from its after breakfast nap. As they worked, he wondered what kinds of flowers Tuggle was planning on growing. There'd been talk of fruit and he was excited for that but what did peace look like to the hippie man? It was a peace garden first and a vegetable garden second, he figured.

Shakuntala craned her neck and ran a slick hand against the side of her neck. The summer's heat was kicking her in the place where the sun metaphorically did not shine. She felt weak and sluggish; ready to find a shady spot and curl up for an afternoon nap as she usually did during the summer when she was living with her parents. But the first duty on her agenda was to work on the fence, as per the jolly Tuggle's commands.
She stabbed a plank into the ground and drove it as deep into the earth as her arms could muster. Then, she began wrapping the wire about it to hold it parallel to the one beside it. Thus far, her handiwork hadn't been the best, and she had been questioning if she had been doing things right or not. To test the fence's strength, Shakuntala backpedaled a few steps and plucked a rock from the sod. She tossed it at the fence experimentally, wondering if the impact would make it budge.

They looked so excited suddenly, she was afraid they might be overestimating her skills or something. It wasn't like she was some kind of great chef or something, was it? Fidgeting, she turned back to working and wondered if she might be able to get back into kitchen duty to practice before they made her cook for them, to make sure she wasn't getting rusty or something. Or maybe she was worrying too much, she didn't know.
She paused, though, at the mention of snacks, and gave a quiet laugh. "If you're about to suggest a run to the kitchen, I'm not sure I want to try it this time."

"Nice thinking! Looks like it held." The sound of something bouncing off the wall alarmed him until he looked up and saw a pretty dark haired girl fussing over the fence. Thankfully the wall held against Tala's demonstration and Hwan perked up at the activity. What a great idea! Not that they should all throw rocks at it as it would surely collapse if impacted from all sides but he looked impressed at her thoughtfulness. He barely knew if he was even handling the wire in the right way. Flashing her a grin and a thumbs up, he wondered how he'd never noticed her before. She sure seemed quiet, maybe that was why?
"I'm sure if we went during daylight hours, it'd go a lot better, huh?" Larisa's joke brought a flush to his cheeks at how hilariously bad that adventure had gone. But hey, it made for a good story, right? The sun beat down on them and he wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead as he chuckled over her comment. Next time, he was taking Jeong with him. The other twin was much better at planning a way out of trapped corners though it pained him to admit the other boy was maybe a little smarter than him.
"I hope we can get watermelons from this thing," By thing, he meant the garden, "They'd taste so good at the end of a day's chores."

"Oh! It's horse kisser!" Jeong-jae laughed as Shakuntala's rock toss caught their attention. Getting up from holding planks for Larisa, he wandered down the way to join the dark haired girl and see how she was doing. She'd been very shy and nervous seeming at the Truth or Dare game and he hoped to see if she did better with one on one interactions. Normally he took pleasure in flirtfully teasing the shy girls (the blush on their face was adorable) but he decided to wait for her to become a little more comfortable first. Didn't want to scare her away from ever coming back here again!
It didn't dawn on him that calling out one of her embarrassing secrets might've already done so.
"How're you doing? Shakunlala, was it?" He couldn't remember her entire name but figured he'd gotten it mostly right. Grabbing a hold of the planks for her now, he attempted to help work while mainly chatting.

As Shakuntala raised her arm to pitch a next pebble at the fence post, it dropped from her hand, and fell between the blades of grass at her feet. She seemed to have paled a few shades of brown suddenly in a start before an all-too-common blush of embarrassment heated her features. Her nickname given by Santos was an atrocious curse of her days as a trainee and whenever she wished the darn thing would die (or it seemed to have done so), someone would summon it back from its grave and let her feel its wrath all over again. It all started and ended that day she went to Truth or Dare and, for all it seemed, she appeared to have regretted going.
Looking to Jeong-jae, she tried to muster up a welcoming smile, and turned the awkward hovering of her arm over her head into a wave. Bowing her head a little, she stared at the grass, and returned, "Y-yea... I'm Shakuntala... And... A-and you're..."
Putting a name to a face was usually an easy mental task for Shakuntala to do, but this proved to take an arduous effort when there were two of the same. She glided her eyes between the twin that had approached her and the one in the distance with dismay, unsure of who was Jeong-jae and who was Hwan-jae. Her brain started blanking and, in an attempt to recollect her concentration, she found the rock she had dropped and threw it to the fence again.
Agh.

Yesenia came barreling back toward the beginnings of the fence with Amalia Stern in tow. "Come on, Malia! The fence isn't going to build itself!"
The green haired woman shook her head softly. "How do I get dragged into these things...?" She muttered quietly to herself. Louder, "And why are you so excited to be helping out with this? You get challenged into it?"
Turning back to Amalia, the braided girl's mouth began to water, and her eyes sparkled as she clapped her friend's hands in her own. "Lemons, Malia! Lemoooooons."
Amalia sighed. "Of course." She looked up at her friend. "And? What do I get out of it?"
Yesenia feigned shock. "Malia! Are you saying you wouldn't take part in a charitable act for Cap'n Tuggle? Not to mention getting fresh lemons for your best friend?"
The darker skinned girl nodded. "That's exactly what I'm saying."
"Fine. I'll get you a cake next time we're in town." The grey eyed woman said, pouting.
A smile crept across Amalia's lips. "Then let's get to it."
Still pouting, but encouraged by the thought of lemons, Yesenia bent down and began to work on the fence.

Amalia had just finished her couriering when Yesenia found her and literally began dragging her to someplace the rambunctious girl called 'The Peace Garden'. Eventually, the slightly taller girl had been able to shake free from her cohort's grip, but despite herself ended up following anyway.
After Yesenia had bribed her with the promise of sweets, Amalia also got to work on building the fence. It definitely wasn't something she had experience with, but the sweet allure of cake overrode any negative thoughts.

"Come on, Lenore, it'll be fun!" Zin said cheerily, pulling the black-haired girl along by the hand. "Everyone's doing it!" She was practically skipping; any event where large numbers of people gathered gave her boundless energy and happiness. It was a little overwhelming. When they arrived on the scene, Zin saw people dragging fence posts to their proper places, and others nailing boards together. They had made good progress already (Zin had been late hearing about the project since she had been reading with Lenore in the library), but there was plenty left for the two young trainees to do. Zin decided to leave the heavy-lifting to stronger trainees, and instead lead Lenore to a toolbox where some hammers and a great many nails were waiting. She picked up a hammer and stuffed a fistful of nails into her pocket. "Let's get to work," she said with unfathomable glee. ((Ahhh I forgot to roll so oh well. XD))
